- On this trip I camp in a park whose name may be hard to pronounce, but is well worth visiting at any time of year: Kouchibouguac National Park in New Brunswick Canada.

NOTE FROM SLIM: I've received so many posts about Buddy and Wave Heaters I am filtering them out (I did respond to the first few). As mentioned in many videos, these are NOT suitable for long periods in sub-zero weather due to the amount of moisture they produce. I am only interested in DRY heat (non-electric). If curious, please see my review of a catalytic heater from a few years ago: ua-cam.com/video/81HLSv5Af-w/v-deo.html
Thanks! SP
Propex HS2000! Best furnace ever. Sips propane and uses basically zero battery.
Reconsider the Wave3. I don't notice any condensation in a 13' Scamp during Oregon winter camping. Just vent a window and you're all good. Not power draw, silent and lasts for a long time on low setting.
🥔 Hey Slim Potato Heat 🥔 My name is Ryan I am a inspiring UA-camr. I live 2 miles away from the Antelope Valley California Poppy reserve is a state-protected reserve of California 🇺🇸 it is 60 or so miles from Los Angeles California 😁
Hi. Slim . In regards to your heater / furnace situation I have a suggestion. Years ago I bought some used camper equipment out of a little motor home. The one thing I was most interested in was the heater . It is a catalytic heater , branded as " Thermx caravan mark 2 A . This is an old unit, I believe it was manufacturedin San Francisco. I us it to heat a tiny cabin I built to get away from the city . Like you , I constantly am thinking of alternative ways to use something. With just two long pegboard shelf brackets and an old bbq grill I can warm food and have a wood stove fan that keeps the air circulation going. One thing I want to do is put in a fresh air intake that will allow for air exchange. I have heated my little space last winter and I used about half of a 20lb. Propane tank. I am sure if you put your mind to it you could find a way to make something to work.
It’s pronounced “koo je be quack”
Another big budget National Geographic production. Oh, wait! Not NG but SP. Slim's stuff is getting more and more like a professionally produced presentation. All done by himself. Don't know how you do it Slim but, please keep them coming.
So many UA-cam channels now with BETTER quality productions and content than TV channel with teams of several dussins of people ever have been able to make. This is rendering traditional TV obsolete. You can see it when YOU want and choose the type of subjects that interest you. Haven't watched TV in many years!
@@stefansoder6903 Nor have I.
Don't you know that Slim always travels with a production crew of at least 12 ppl in 3 mobile studio vans? You should see them when the whole entourage rides into a small town, Top Gear style. It's a sight to behold. =^.^=
@@stefansoder6903 We don't even have a TV anymore, gave the last one away to our maid 10 or 15 years ago.

Beautiful...just beautiful. In a world of influencers and plastic people you're a breath of fresh air Slim. Love how you turn natures beauty that most just walk by without noticing into works of art. And your culinary tastes just add to the entertainment. Keep on camping my friend!
Thanks Pete! SP
Hi Slim: I am always happy to see you have posted a video. I know it will be very detailed, wonderfully narrated, and photographed with an incredible eye for beauty and the unusual. I’ll be very happy, as well, when you get to working on your cabin and all the cool things you will do to it. Your videos are a pleasure to watch. Thank you! 🙏🏼❣️♥️❣️🙏🏼
@Judy Abernathy...fancy seeing you here! 👍 Amen sister...SP does fantastic work/creations. Stay safe. 🕊
@@dewdropn5619 - hey girl!! I just really respect and enjoy this man’s work. He’s a class act!! Take care of yourself!! 🙏🏼❣️♥️❣️🙏🏼

I love it when you use maps...it's great for orientation to know where in the world you are and it puts order and direction to the video. Thanks so much. Oh! And the cooked recipe! Looks delish...please continue sharing easy dishes with us! Thank you! :-)
Yes. Maps contribute a lot!
Yes cartographic orientation
Amazing cinematography and writing on the nature walk section. Made me really appreciate your talent.
I could watch those rippling lagoon waters all day. Good to see you back on the road, Slim. Thanks for your low-key way of sharing. It's good for the soul.
I love fall camping when no one is around. The green of the ferns, the yellow of the tamarack, the red berries, white mushrooms, hypnotic waves, the rainbow, so beautifully captured. Thank you for bringing us with! The meal looked yummy too. Can't wait to what you'll try next.
Hi Slim, I believe the only solution that satisfy your heating requirements for your trailer is the southern US in the winter. enjoy.
Wife says you look 10 years younger after shaving! And, thanks for your Vlog efforts!
Early morning. Slim, breakfast and hot chocolate. Can life be any better? Good to see ya slim
Slim just rework the furnace you have. You can get really quite 12 volt fans that will do the job nicely... You can modify your furnace for under 100 dollars...
His blower sounds like it’s sick. I have one in my small trailer and it’s not as loud as his. It’s not exactly quiet either but his sounds like the fan is about to seize.
@@gbpg2016 I have the same one in my trailer and it drives me nuts. How hard is it to make a quiet variable speed blower that doesn't use so much 12v power? Someone needs to make a retro kit for all these crappy heaters that we all have.
I've lived in NB my whole life, over 50 years. I love it here. Your videos are showing me my own province in a whole new light, through your eyes, with such quality, technical and presentation. Very, VERY, much appreciated. Thank-you! You have an awesome gift, and I'm so glad you are sharing it. Best regards !
New Brunswick is a beautiful place. I was lucky enough to spend some time there in August
Always calming, always informative, always beautifully photographed/edited. Love your videos. If you wanted to save on cleaning pans, draining some of the water from the pasta then adding the soup & sour cream to the noodles is easier. Could have mixed it all in the pot and eaten out of it too.
Your eye for nature is magic. Then, with the addition of your soothing, poetic narrative and choice of music, the videos come to life. Your videos and those of through-hiker, Spielberg are so enjoyable. His latest views of the changing colors in the Washington Cascades and yours of maritime New Brunswick make me want to jump in the truck and start exploring. Thanks, so much. And ----------- stay warm this winter.
His voice is hypnotic
Yeah my travelin shoes are starting to tap.
@@SarahGraymatter I just got back from a little 4 day trip and I am itching to get back out again. Plus I need more content for my channel so it's a good excuse for a trip lol
Hey Slim I might have a solution for ya. I'm a old deer hunter from Ms. and you might not hunt so you may not have heard of this one. I've spent several cold nights in deer stands, and complained to father about freezing my butt off waiting for sunrise, he shared a old trick that was shared to him years ago. What we did was got a old coffee can (the big ones) save the plastic lid, anyway we'd get a roll of toilet (full roll) and rubbing alcohol. place roll in metal coffee can then fill it with alcohol and fire it up. It sure worked in the deer stands, odorless, smokeless and put off some heat. not sure if it would work in a enclosed RV ,might test it first. Anyway when finished simply place lid back on to extinguish. Cheep, easy, heat.
I haven’t been to this area in years, but my fondest childhood camping memories all happened there. Glad you’re touring my home turf, Slim!
Slim, your editting skills are amazing. You segue into new scenes with such expertise and the music is perfectly cued.
Thank you 🙂I really needed a great video like this today. Watching you from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I love the way you talk, so poetic. You just have a way with words. Also you photo pictures are awesome.
Started my week right! Thanks Slim. 😊
Enjoying watching your trip thru New Brunswick as my Dads family were from there starting over 200 years ago.
I so appreciate your sacrifice for science! :D
Without a doubt, the best Utube Channel I have ever watched. Love you Slim. Cheers!!!
Exceptional, beautiful, well dressed videography with willing wildlife participants. Your wit and writing is well spoken all tied up in a rainbow 🌈 I am a big fan SP and can’t wait for your south of the border adventures 😊
Loved the small sacrifice for science. It’s just a flesh wound. Really liked the fiddle on Angeline The Baker.
This was a great video and at wonderful time as it is inspiring me to get off my duff, hook the trailer up again, and go wondering. No heaters suggestions here, you have plenty, but another simple recipe from my childhood. We had what we called tuna and potato chips. It was simply a bag of potato chips crunched up, stir in a can of cream of mushroom soup and a can of tuna, and maybe a little water or milk if it’s too thick. My mother used to bake it in the oven with some extra chips sprinkled on top, but I’ve made it camping many times just on a stove top. Comfort food and very, very simple and quick.
One more comment on the tuna and potato chips. While it probably is high in sodium it does not really taste salty. I’m always surprised when I eat it that it doesn’t taste salty at all, and I tend to use regular salted potato chips, the cheapest you can find.
Slim is the best photographer and narrator on utube. He should be a professional. He should have many more subscribers than he has. Maybe we should all start sharing him with all our friends.
We live in New Hampshire and (used to before you know what) go to New Brunswick often so I'm interested in new places to visit. We've been to Fundy but I've never heard of this park. I hope after the winter you'll do more of these and include Nova Scotia and PEI. We can't wait to get back to Canada for vacation and discover new places. Thank you.
Slim. You sir are pure magic. Thanks for taking us along on your journey and turning it into visual poetry.
Lunch with Mr Slim, absolutly delicious. What a stunningly beautiful part of the world.
David in the UK.
It’s Soo Great to watch & listen to you film & narrate the unique world of Slim. Thanks for all the beauty for this 75yr old retired lady to enjoy. I’m looking forward to your next visit & your travels to my country. May GOD continue to bless you with good health. I’ll Be anxiously waiting for more relaxing & informative Slim Vids!!
So many beautiful images, it’s so restful and restorative to watch them. Thank you so much Slim.
Hello from Nova Scotia. I love that you post on Monday mornings. Enjoy my morning coffee watching while getting my week started. Really enjoy your channel and videos.
The bottle cap, and brackets to take on and off, as you put your table back together, and take apart is genius Slim! :)
i've watched this video before. What i realize (i had watch other camping/camper/van travelers videos) is that you TELL A STORY in your video. That's what make your content so GOOD!! I've been lapsed with updates, but the great thing is it allows me to do binge watching. As always keep up the great work!!
Most of your noise is from the fan and motor. Have you thought of replacing them with smaller quieter units, while leaving the rest of the system intact. We have a larger Geo pro camper, and the heater in it seems quieter and more efficient than what you have. It turns on and off without waking us at night.
Heater suggestion: Bulletshaker mini camping heater (Amazon). I use this on top of my cook stove and it's all the heat I need until freezing temps, then I use my wave3. Even in freezing temperatures, it warms my space quickly, and just sips the propane.
Thanks Slim, for another great video!
You're now famous!
Yummy mushroom, sour cream and pasta recipe! Will try your heater idea too.
Thanks again for a swell, restful and thoughtful video from Slim Potatohead Productions. I really appreciate the thought that goes into your content and8 stories behind what you find and see along the way. (Terrific camera work too) You're the kind of person I would like to meet up with, hang for a day or two and ecplore fawn & flora in our amazing North American territories. May God grant you a long and productive life.
Dave from MI.
I had no idea that the Pitcher Plant grew that far north! Informative, as usual, Mr. Potatohead! 😉
I could have watched the waves on the shallow water of the lagoon til I fell asleep. It would be a great sleep video Sure hope you find a heat solution soon.

What a wonderful piece this was. That stroganoff looked like dinner to me! Thanks Slim and Hermit Girl Wanders!!! I know what’s on for tonight!
Sure is nice to see you on the road again ! You portray the world in a timeless wisdom fashion, capturing stunning gems throughout the natural world. Best of luck, safety in your "Southeastern travels". Wishing you success in you homestead renovation . Good to have a base camp.
Thanks Slim , your voice and story telling are the best.
Nice way to wake up with a fresh cup of coffee. Thanks Slim. It seems like someone would build a hot water pad that goes under the rug. It could be made to work just with a percolator effect and no fans or moving parts at all. An adjustable flame height would determine how much water is circulating. I’m sure it could be done, it just needs to be toyed with until right.
.....hot water pads like hospitals use as mattress pads to keep (or regenerate) bodies to warm again...
What abt a heated pet mat they use in barns?
Go for it
Thank you taking me on this beautiful ride. ❤️🙂👍
This video has it all. Camping equipment thoughts, beautiful nature of all kinds, recipe, cooking - all set to some great music.
Totally agree
Hello Slim! You’ve taken us on another great adventure and I thank you! Angeline the Baker was the perfect music for the latter part of this video.
Living the dream, Slim. Thanx 👍👍
Lovely shots of the environment and the wildlife! You cooked actual food! It looked marvelous; we all thank Hermitgirl Wanders. Good job!
I have watched several of your videos Slim, and finally subscribed. You have a good eye for the little things in nature. I enjoy your humor, and keep rolling!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The meal actually looked pretty darn good.
I've been watching your cabin flip videos and missing your camping adventures. This somehow slipped by me and I found it Christmas evening. A true gift to accompany my coffee. Warm Season's Greetings to you and yours. Here's to 2022 adventures.
Good to see you Slim! I especially liked this video of the fall colors and the fungi! What’s better than viewing fungi than having it for a new recipe in a form of your first new recipe meal! Just remember don’t eat the stinkhorns! Lol🍄
Kouchibouguac is what you do to make a baby laugh and smile! ;-) I'm glad you are coming to the USA. I may go to Canada again some day.
I wish we had spent a bit more time there this summer when we stayed at the park. We didn't do enough of the trails. Your video inspires me to go back. You always show such beauty in nature. Thanks Hermit Girl; I think I will try that one.
As a suggestion you might try modifying your pasta dish by adding cooked green peas (the frozen type) and using ranch dressing as a sauce (warmed in the same pot with the drained pasta). I cook a similar dish often, usually adding more fresh veggies. Glad you are back making videos.
We have a 1991 23’ Aero Cruiser Class A and jettisoned our furnace and replaced it with a silent no power Camco Olympian RV Wave-3 LP Gas Catalytic Safety Heater, Adjustable 1600 to 3000 BTU, Warms 130 Square Feet of Space, Portable and its wall Mounted. We’ve used it 3 years and works well in our smaller unit for temps down into low 40’s (and doing all other insulation tricks for RVs). Silent, adjustable, highly efficient and very little maintenance required. Cheers…
Looks like I need to pin my note. Not suitable for extreme cold. SP
Your video reminds me of the great Canadian film maker Bill Mason!
Thank you so much Slim for causing those memories to return.
We should find him a red canoe
Absolutely! Canoes paddle so much better than kayaks in my opinion. I have a red We.no.nah that I would be honored to take Slim in one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes!
From Australia, thank you for the lovely tours of your country.
One way to improve on the recipe is to deglaze the skillet with 1/4 cup of water from the pasta, then add the sour cream and mushroom soup. Thin mushroom-sour cream-soup mixture as needed with more pasta water, then add pasta to skillet and stir. Bon appetite!
We're open! Head on down here to the states before the snow flies! Also a little tofu in that mushroom dish would have been lovely, so good to see you!
Please make some more of these recipes. I love seeing this as much as your nature walks.
As always ... thanks for the views ... I love the ocean. Namaste Jay
Good Morning and thanks for the visit to the park. I meant to write to you regards the previous video and recipes. I use a Trangia system for cooking outside of my Prolite Mini and find the recipes and process of Chef Corso on UA-cam really helpful. Some his recipes are labeled truck stop friendly (for groceries). My propane heater isn’t so noisy so perhaps the suggestion to service the fan is a good one, though perhaps you have already done so. Keep on keeping on!
Good to see you exploring Eastern Canada 🇨🇦. Enjoy your winter.
Love it so much u do thank you Bonnie Dozier calera al
Sacrificing your finger was extremely funny. I enjoy your videos.
Great imagery in both photography and prose.
You have a great eye for composing your camera shots. Even the twisted weeds on the beach look interesting the way you capture them. Just a peaceful scene that is a sure cure for the stress if city life. Thanks Slim!
I subscribed for more adventures!
From south Africa good ol slim film what got me hooked long time back THANKS
I think it's suspicious that he has two beds now Lol! Love the beige cushions
Interesting and beautifully produced as usual. Slim, your videos are the best!
We love that park also. If you follow the coast, there is a beautiful park on it. It’s an Irving park. It’s called The Dune de Bouctouche. We are from Bouctouche. That route is beautiful and inexpensive.
Ahhhh, a Slim Potatohead video & a fresh hot cup of flavored coffee.....gotta know HermitGirl is feeling good about having been mentioned in a SP video........
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
Hey Slim, Did you know you can cook your pasta in with your main meal, thereby saving water and another pot to wash? I recently learned this myself and it's been working out quite well for me. I cup water to 1 cup pasta is the general ratio. So after mushrooms are cooked, add the soup, water, pasta. Simmer 8-10m, then remove from heat and stir in the sour cream. It's impt to add the s. cream off the heat so it doesn't separate. No drain water to fill up your grey tank, no second pot to wash, and the starch in the pasta acts like a thickener for the sauce.
I'll bet Slim goes with your suggestion next time he fixes HermitGirl's recipe.
Wow, that was a great trip. And the recipe looked good too. As always “Enjoy The Adventure.”
Sweet, my favourite UA-camr.
So good to see you again!!! Safe travels & wish you were crossing to our western side! Enjoy your journeys and thank you fir all the wonderful & informative videos you share with us!🙏🏽
I like seeing the viewer suggested recipes cooked-up by you!
Another great video, thank you! And brilliant work on that table!
Truma and Alde offer some quiet options, maybe pricey and require some involved installation, but once done probably awesome. Not sure of the efficiency of either product line, but the sacrifice of a few dollars for peace and quiet would probably be worth it.
Have you looked into retrofitting your original heater with a tangential fan? They are a lot quieter and occasionally available on the surplus market in various sizes and voltages.
I like your frying pan handle mod, maybe take that to the Shark Tank, very handy!
Thanks for showing us some more of the east coast Slim!
Thank you for the walks into nature. Awesome vid! Happy winter!
I'll always enjoy your videos for the next one
Great sense of humor! Thanks for sharing it.
Beautiful nature. Thank you for bringing it to us.
Welcome back Slim!
Just an idea for heat. Propane on demand water heater with a circulation pump to a radiator with a fan. Use it for heat only with and anti freeze.
The Dickinson P9000 doesn't have to be vented vertically ! Dickinson has a diagram with the flue mounted in / through a wall. Also, the P9000 has variable fan speeds and high & low heat settings. Dickinson also says that when the heat is set on low, the fan doesn't even need to be on. They said it doesn't necessarily have to be on when the heat is on high, but it's recommended so that the heat isn't wasted by simply heating up the flue / exhaust vent.
Your skills continue to improve and impress. Loved that bit with your finger and the plant. Good luck in your travels.
Another great video slim! You never disappoint. Can’t wait for the next.
Holy crap, that has to be the noisiest camper furnace I ever heard. I never bothered to see which make & model of propane furnace I had in my camper but it was quiet & efficient. Maybe you should keep your eye out for someone who is parting out an RV or you can find a boneyard for boats & RV's. There has to be a marine cabin heater that will work for you. Not everyone knows that marine products are over-engineered & designed for safety & efficiency, and can be used in a camper or RV as well as a boat.
I suspect Slim has worn out his furnace's bearings. I'd bet a new dometic furnace would be way quieter and much more efficient.
I vote no to the cilantro, yes to parsley, thyme, or chives overtop. Cilantro is a good flavour for curry, chilli, etc. Not so much for savoury dishes like stroganoff. But you were bang on for adding a fresh herb! Looked delicious!
So beautiful nature!
Beautiful vid Slim! Thank you.
Love your travel videos. Thank you.
Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for the great content!
One of my favorite go-to recipes used to be lentil pilaf. The base is 2/3 cup dry brown lentils, 1 cup long-grain rice. Lentils and rice cook about the same rate/hydration so I think I just double the dry volume to ~3 cup water or broth. Bring it to boil, drop temp to simmer ~20-30 min, the usual rice prep. You can jazz it up with broth/bouillon, spices and fried veg to taste. Fried onions usually goes well with it.
Sounds delicious. Thanks hotlavatube! SP
Thanks Slim.
