Dude no way, I pass that place all the time. I always wanted to see what it looked like inside, that's a shame it's been vandalized..
I looked like people destroyed it more than the hurricane
Sweet, glad you could appreciate this as a local! Love your name too 🚯💯
@@oliewray8357I bet it was an insurance scam from Robert O Marshal of Tom’s River, NJ.
@@chrisdraughn5941 It was the hurricane. LOL
@@chrisdraughn5941bro what 😂
Hi from Tokyo. That was nice of you to mention not everyone can physically do what you do and they can enjoy it with you. I love stealth camping videos but am a wheelchair user, so this is a great way to enjoy it.
Hello, Josh! 👋🇯🇵 That's reassuring to hear that you are able to enjoy it through video, despite the challenges you must face in a wheelchair. Before my grandmother passed, she told me to capture the adventures I was going on and share them with those who might not get the opportunity. My goal is to make it like you are right here with me exploring these cool places 🏕️ Thank you for watching and sharing your experience!
Guano heaven.
Great job capturing the Hitchcock Birds mood and remaining so calm about it!
Hahaha thanks! Glad they didn't attack me... if they all banded together I would have been toast 💀
It's a shame people feel a need to destroy abandoned property.
Much of it was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
@@19irvingnot the point
Nature itself would destroy it faster than anyone else
@@littlerichieny No sale.
Having grown up not far from there, you do put cereal in the fridge. Same with bread. It's the only way to keep it from going soggy in a matter of days, if not hours after opening it. When you live that close to the water, humidity is a way of life.
Interesting, I learned something new!! I lived on the beach for years but we just used food clips 🤷♂️
I've heard of people in Florida putting underwear in the refrigerator to keep mold and mildew from forming.
@@mackfisher4487In FL we put peanut butter in the fridge and flour in the freezer.
@@mackfisher4487lived in south FL near the beach/coast my whole life, what planet are you on to believe that?
And red light is only functional for your eyes to go back to night vision the quickest
Props to you for leaving the room when you discovered the baby seagull.
All the mold in that place would scare me, I would rather sleep in a tent on a balcony somewhere, what a shame a hurricane ruined it. You are brave.
Was thinking the same thing about mold.
Yeah I think I'm going to start carrying around a mask on these adventures, just in case! 😷
Mold is generally not a problem at all unless you ingest it, some people are more sensitive to the smell than others though, it will however destroy a house in no time
Found your channel a couple weeks ago. Your content and filmography is fantastic. I hope you get the respect you deserve on this platform. Can’t wait to see more!
That means a lot, thanks Adam. Glad you're enjoying, and hope you like what's to come! 😉
I went here about 3 years ago and it was so awesome to finally go since I’ve grown up looking at it from a far my whole life. Sad I didn’t get to see it one last time before they demolished it but at least I saw it once. Great video!! Glad you gave it the respect it deserves before it was gone!
Yeah it was really a special place... sad to see it go, but glad I was able to go and document it one last time. Hopefully they can rebuild something new! Thanks for watching!!
When I was a kid in the early and mid 1980’s me and my friends broke into many abandoned buildings, old hotels, barns, plane hanger, and an old saw mill.
I Really Wanted to say I Enjoy watching your videos, so do my kiddos 😊
That's so great to hear, Ness! I do try to make the vids family-friendly so everyone is able to enjoy 😊 Thanks for watching!
That’s a birdhouse now. They’re very protective of it, shouting: “Out, out, out”. Sad it’s about to be ripped down, hope the baby birds will be safe.
From what I hear it's standard procedure in the demolition industry to do a check beforehand and relocate animals... let's hope they did their job!
More like, "Mine! mine! mine!"
I just watched the last island episode and woke up to another he keeping consistent!!!! Even with all the editing and constant driving he keep delivering the best 2024 content I’ve seen keep it up Wes!!!!
Thanks so much, Maybe!! It's a bit of work but totally worth it 😉
such a shame, i hope someone builds a new house or something there.
Wow!! That place is wild! Thank you for walking safely! 🙏 That's so cool you found that place just in the nick of time!! 😀 That would have been hilarious if you woke up with a bunch of seagulls cuddled up to you!🤣 🤣 It was really cool that we got to share in your exploring the different rooms, imagining what it may have looked like. I also saw how you made that nice tribute to the house in the end! 🥰 This video was fantastic, probably one of your best videos to date! I'm torn between a few others of your other videos 😊
Right, was such a fun spot!! Literally just in time too, I heard it was demolished the same day I left. Definitely wouldn't have minded some seagull cuddles, they are one of my fav birds! So glad you thoroughly enjoyed this one, Suzanne 😊
Hitch's THE BIRDS, on a whole other level -- seriously, though, I love this stealth camping video.👍👍👍👍
Glad you are enjoying :)
Pocket door! Love em!
Cannot tell you guys how much I love this dudes content 😂
Is there an Instagram we can follow?
he just needs more exposure, his videos are very well made.
Thanks Tommy, so glad you enjoy the content!! It's @WesWherever, but I haven't posted anything on IG just yet 😭
@@WesWherever Do you have Tiktok ?
@CurlyHeadedNess23 I do, but I haven't really done much with it yet (just posting intros from YT vids to promote a lil bit). It's @WesWherever - I plan to make some dedicated content for it at some point. Let me know if you have any ideas of what you'd want to see on there!
Let’s get it Wes. Recently came across your videos…love them.
Thanks Shammy, so glad you enjoy them 😊
Nice clean room?? 😂Oh my goodness! Gotta give this man credit. Took us on an adventure.
I was definitely getting " The Birds" vibe with all the seagull cries. My hubby and I just rewatched the movie so it was fresh in my mind. Cool video!
Spent summers just in Ocean Beach looking at that and driving my boat past it in the 60's and 70's. still see it often and live just north of it. Never seen the inside though , Thanks. When the wind is off the ocean it is fine but a west wind brings Green Head Flies that bite hard and Mosquitoes by the bushel.
So cool! Glad you were able to appreciate it as a local. I guess I came through at the right time then. I only saw maybe 2 mosquitoes the whole time and no horseflies, thankfully!
Nice one again Wes! Absolute gorgeous spot. Such a pity it has been abandoned and will be destroyed soon. Keep the videos coming 😁
Right?? Was such a cool spot! I found out it was scheduled to be demolished the same day I left (Monday). So glad I was able to check it out, but sad to see it go! Thanks again for watching, glad you've been enjoying the adventures 😊
Wow lucky you!! 😁 Looking forward to your next adventure. Cheers brother!
Very cool campout! What an awesome video, your content just gets better and better. Top notch production! Thanks for sharing. 😁😁
Thanks so much Jacqueline, glad you've been enjoying! 😊
Awesome find!
Hey Wes! Just wanted to give you a shout out. Enjoyed our chat before you set out on your adventure! 1K more subs than last Sunday! Killing it! Oh, btw, I found my Pilot License(s) in another wallet! Keep doing what you do man! ✌🏻
Hey Bill, good to hear from you!! Good you found the license, I am still working towards mine at the moment. Thanks for checking out the vid, hope you enjoy the future adventures as well! I will reach out if I ever find myself back in Barnegat Bay 😉
I like to speak aloud and thank a camping spot. After gratitude I'll compliment and wish it well. The spot seems to find a life after someone stays there for a night. It becomes a friend. It helped and accepted me and I try to keep it clean.
Very true, a good camping spot is like a familiar friend 💙
i'm amazed that they'd be allowed to knock it down with birds nesting in it at the time.
You are actually correct! The Migratory Bird Act is a federal law that prohibits disturbing nesting areas during mating season and there are eggs or fledglings. I hope somebody ensures the birds aren't displaced and they follow the law and wait until they all have fledged.
Apparently they are supposed to relocate any animals before demolition. I sure hope they followed the protocol!
What a beautiful house
Another interesting camping spot. The best yet. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for joining 😊 Glad you like the adventures!!
What a shame. It looked like an incredible place! Tastefully designed.
awesome video dude! We love spots like this
Outstanding Video Wes! Thank you 🙏 I really enjoyed it. I'm always happy to see you have a new Video. This one was over the Top cool Spot! Was worried you were gonna need Ghost 👻 Busters lol!
😂 I thought the same thing.
Thanks again Drew, glad you enjoyed!! I know it was really spooky, and all the constant shifting/banging noises that I just had to hope and assume were from the birds 😳
As a former urbanex person idk if you've mentioned it before but man you should really wear a n95 or n100 respirator when sleeping in places like these. The amount of asbestos is INSANE and I'd hate to see ya suffer from exposure years down the line!
glad you said something as soon as i seen he was going into a house especially with animals living in it, poop and mold on top of asbestos lol, i was about to comment the same thing
Very true! Thankfully this one was constructed in the 90s, so no asbestos. But definitely plenty of bird poop and mold, that's for sure!!
@@WesWherever that's why you should always take a mask with you especially when exploring such places, not trying to be a bigot lol, just wish the best for your safety don't want any nasty buggers in ya
@@WesWherever Ay all good man, absolutely love your content btw!
Makes no sense for people to vandalize the whole place smh.
Class video today. Wes is def getting bigger and bigger. Love the new creative videos.

Appreciate it Christian, I will keep em coming! 😉
I commented about red light but completely forgot to say thanks for sharing this amazing spot with us. All the best.
It's all good bro, glad you enjoyed!! Appreciate you watching the videos 🏕️
What a nice place. Beautiful island. Bed was cozy. Too bad they going to tear it down
Thanks Luiz, yeah this trip was a blast!! Sad to see it go, but happy I was able to make it just in time to share it with y'all!
I got shipwrecked on that island in the early 80's when the house was smaller. I was sailing a cheap, styrofoam sailboat between Middle Sedge and Marsh Elder Islands in winds dar too strong for the boat and the mast snapped. Had to walk barefoot through the reeds to reach the house and ask for a boat ride home.
Wow, what a interesting (and unfortunate) story! Glad you were okay. How did your interactions with the resident(s) go? Were they friendly? Did you exchange any stories?
@@WesWherever 40 years ago, so hard to remember details. My main fear was that they might have big dogs for security. That and the pain of walking across pointy, broken reeds. In the end they gave me a ride with no complaints.
Be safe thanks for the video
I’ll make sure to stay safe 👍 Thanks for watching!!
Wow man cool find. Islands are fascinating. Have you ever kayaked the Great Lakes? Never been there myself but I've seen islands on them from maps. Probably some interesting ones to explore. Happy trails man.
Thanks again for watching, David! I have swam in Lake Erie & Lake Michigan, but not kayaked (yet)! It will almost certainly be happening this trip... I bet we've even eyed up some of the same islands on the map 😉
Interesting shots. Good video. This is unique.
Dude, I love watching your channel! You get to see beautiful places! I have alot of catching up to do, lol.
Thanks man! Hope you enjoy all the adventures... each one is uniquely memorable for me, and so happy to be able to share them!
Very cool. Just ran across your channel. My dad I lived in New Jersey 1918 -1938 until he moved to Warsaw Ind. live the east.
So cool, it really is a beautiful area! I'm already looking forward to going back
It looks like vandals did a number on the place. When they raze it, the poor birds and going to be displaced (temporarily I hope). I hit on your videos by accident; glad I did! The little island in the East River in NYC where you camped out overnight was fascinating to me.
From Southern NJ near Philly. Took a plane ride years ago on a date Flew around the casinos and noticed a house in the middle of the bay. I think that was it, unless there’s more of them? Loved getting a look inside. Thank you❤❤❤❤
Sounds like that might have been it!! I’m glad you appreciated it, thanks so much for watching 😊
Well at least you had your pick of rooms that’s uncommon for the summer season! Hope u don’t catch the bird flu 😷 IDK if I could sleep there well I was going to say u probably didn’t sleep well there either ! Great video 👍😎🐆🐆
Right, got to pick the best (cleanest) room in the house 😁 Even then, nah I didn't sleep too well with how loud the birds were! Probably should have gone to sleep earlier, but eh it still worked out and was tons of fun! Thanks again for watching, glad you enjoyed!! 🏕️
Good video. All those seagulls (rats of the sea) would drive me crazy.
I'm a new subscriber from Pott Row, Norfolk, England your videos are brilliant! I'm looking forward to watching them all!
Appreciate that man, cheers from across the pond 🇺🇸🍻🇬🇧

Thats funny on the RAOS, you took the words right out of my mouth! Cool video
Right, always learning something new lol. Thanks for watching!
great video and wow. that sad they are demolished it. worried about the baby sea gull. someone could fix it up maybe. keep the videos coming.. have a good day and week.
Thanks Heather, glad you enjoyed this one!! I don't wanna think about the baby seagull 😭 Hope you have a great day & weekend!
@@WesWherever your welcome! Have a good evening and weekend too
7:30 Looks and sounds like a scene straight out of a zombie movie.
Absolutely loving your stuff dude, discovered you recently and been on a binge.
True, it was pretty sketchy lol. Didn't help hearing all the random shifting/banging noises from the birds. So many times I thought there was someone else there, but it just ended up being the birds 😂 Glad you're digging the videos, hope you enjoy what's to come!! 🏕️
Great camping spots and I really enjoy the personality and humor you put into it. Loved the bonus cooking demonstration as well! Subbed
Really appreciate that, so glad you are enjoying 😊 Thanks for watching and subbing!!

Props to you…. I get upset when my kids leave crumbs in my bed and I can’t sleep under those conditions…. Look at you go!
Hahaha yeah I guess I can put up with a lot! But you're right, crumbs just feel gross against the skin 👎👎
Hello that was realy interesting what a beautiful island the mansion would have been so beautiful to dream to live in when it was new built awesome place to live sea air lots life ❤❤❤
I know!! You can look up old photos of it when it was new (Hankins Island Mansion) - it was really something inspiring to behold!
Hey buddy you got a new subscriber from the UK. Really enjoying your adventures.
Glad you are enjoying the adventures, James. Cheers from across the pond!! 🇺🇸🍻🇬🇧
pretty cool
Thanks, Share!!
To have a house like that, it needs to be built like a bunker. Steel reinforced concrete outer walls. And heavy bullet proof windows. Otherwise this is what a hurricane is eventually going to do to the place.
The house is now one big sea gullsnest
Wow those birds are angry and super creepy all night very cool video
Yeah they never stopped 😩😩

If I had the money/power I'd tear down that house, restore the guest house into a tiny home, then make a massive garden, and pond. It'll be the perfect island if an apocalypse were to ever happen.
Or I'd restore everything, and make it into an Airbnb, that would be easy money.
True!! As long as it was hurricane-proof 👍👍
Here before 100k+ subscribers, you deserve much more!
Aw thanks 💙 Really trying my best
Alfred Hitchcock all the way, the thousandth comment with that original post 😁What did they do with the island?

You should camp at one of the islands by the Grand Haven drawbridge in Michigan. Growing up I've always seen them but never went there. Or you could go to Dune Harbor Park in Muskegon and spend the night on the man made island there. Please pin this comment. :)
