The screen on this one goes to a softer screen after about a minute probably will keep it from fading only when you touch the blue unit itself it gets bright. .when you use the fob it doesn't change the brightness of the screen
You can't change this when in use. These 2 parameters are tied together. The fan speed is also used for air delivery into the combustion chamber so it has to match the pump pulses to ensure a clean burn
ive noticed that even if the lower Hz seting is 1.2 on the blue lcd controller it is not possible to go below 1.7Hz on the remote or controller once the heater is running.
So when you turn the unit off and you leave it hooked up to it's power source, does the lcd turn off until you hit the remote to start it even a few days later?
The black one has been replaced in late 2022 by another black one which looks almost identical, with fewer functions. No hidden menu tuning. The old one has an antenna signal display. The new one doesn't.
The manual calls it the parking heater control, holding "ok" and power at the same time you get 3 digit code screen, seems the only way to leave the screen is the gear "settings" key long press but can't seem able to unlock anything
I didnt know 100% when i bought it but the plug on the advert looked the same as mine. I think if the plug is correct they should be OK. I know there are a couple of different styles of plugs though.
The remote is better on the blue controller, but other than that they are very similar. The timers do work slightly differently between the two. I find i never use the timers personally but I know some people do.
@@berko79 I have two heaters one with a black lcd and one with a blue lcd and the blue one is so much more responsive and easier to set up, I think once you use a blue one you will never go back and the little bonus of ambient temperature and core temperature of the heater itself on the remote control is also a bonus.
No for mine i did not have to change the motherboard. What i have heard is there is another more basic controller which is different but looks very similar. It has 3 fan blades on the fan icon in the LED and for that one you do need a motherboard change.
The sensor is in the heater and i'm not too sure how accurate it is. Seems to be a bit hit and miss on the actual temperature. I end up raising it or lowering it to a comfortable temp.
my blue controller after 2 years died, or the heater died, either way its totally dead. all fuses checked ect. brought a new blue controller, still nothing... question. if i buy the motherborad / controller combo, do you think that will work.
Buying both will make sure it works. You could also gamble with just buying the controller - just make sure the plug is the same and it should work. Question then is, where is the failure: in the board or in the controller? No real easy way to find out unless you can borrow a controller which you know works.
@@berko79 yeah i brought a replacment controller, sadly it didn't work so ive ordered a controller with a motherborad this time, fingerscrossed it works... there is deffinetly power running to it, as i live in an off grid van and everything ells, works fine. battery is fine ect.

Yes you are correct, the controllers are very similar. I guess that is due to the fact that the controller board (inside the heater) is still the same. The timers work slightly differently too, both not how i'd expect. But yeah i guess this "swap" is more for people who have had excessive screen fade or issues with their controller.
Alright, Any idea if the blue is the same as the red and gold controller. All similar buttons and shown together in pics. Like the gold version with up/down buttons.
Yeah I could have done a better job of explaining that. The black controllers slowly fade if left on all the time until you cant see what you are doing. So lots of people want to replace those. The blue controller is a bit smarter (knows altitude) and has a slightly different way of the timer working. The remote is also a bit better allowing more adjustment and also displaying ambient temperature.
@@berko79 It knows the altitude? That would be a great feature. I camp in the Snowy Mountains each winter and due to the altitude I should adjust the fuel-to-air ratio due to the higher altitude (about 1450m in my fave camp) but I can't be bothered and add a 10% kero mix to overcome sooting issues. Given I'm on my third, faded black controller, I might give the blue one a lash.
Is your black controller the triangle with 3 wires? I know there are heaps of different types of black controllers now but i dont know too much about how they are wired.
Do you think I could replace my blue controller with a different type with control knob. My controller is faulty. And is the kW of the heater related to the controller or does each controller fit any size heater. Thanks
Yes, i'm pretty confident this would work. The main thing I would say is make sure the plug to the controller is the same. I don't believe the size of the heater will matter at all, you can change the settings if required. And if its setup correct now it should remain setup on the new controller.
The temperature setting is NOT a thermostat function! It's another way to display 1.5 Hz to 5Hz.. Weird (stupid even) but true. Also, the black controller had a timer function which let you turn on the heater at a certain time, say 9 am. With the new controller (at least mine) it's replaced by a pretty useless delay function letting you set an delayed start by x minutes or something. Note that i have a slightly different controller with the up/down buttons on the right side. The colour of my controller is gold, you mostly see this controller in red. The remote i have is exactly the same
On mine it actually functions as a thermostat. It will drop to 1.0hz when temp is exceeded & go up when below. It will NOT cycle on & off. Only low & hi.

Hi I just went to swap mine as you have done however when I swapped them over I got an error code e07. All cables are in the correct orientations. Battery is full and being charged. Any advice would be appreciated. Dave.
Hmm E-07 would point towards an incompatibility between the controller and the main board in the heater. Was your original controller the one with the 3 blades on the fan and the very limited controlling option?
I do know its a different controller and possibly mainboard which might be your issue?... unfortunately i've had no experience with this type of controller
