Hey man, great job! Quick one, what did a typical Mon - Fri, weekend look like diet wise? Appreciate the walking and strength are critical but without a calorie deficit, you wouldn’t have lost the weight. You must have been very thorough with tracking and planning meals during the week and weekend! Great work man. How are you doing now? Appreciate this video is two years old.
Honestly, I just ate less. I know that sounds meh but it's the truth. I completely stopped snacking past 9pm. I also tried to have oatmeal each morning. Other than that, I drank a lot of water. I tried to log my food but that never really stuck. As far as where I am now, meh again. I gained about 20 out of the 50 back but I continue to walk and try to keep it off and keep moving forward. This sounds cliche but the 20 I gained back was different. (still bad- but different). I still have pretty high energy levels, I literally feel better about myself and I continue to stay pretty active (pickleball, walking and other non-exercise exercise). Talk to me in 2 more years and I'm sure the story will be the same. Different numbers but the same struggle I am sure. Hopefully still healthy and still happy. :)
@@vCloudInfo I hear you! Good to hear mate. I think Covid massively messed up people’s routines and structure. I went through a similar journey of putting on weight for 2 years. Now trying to regain small habits. As you say though, as long as you feel healthy and have a base level of what you want, that’s the main thing!
totally. Every journey is different. Some things work for some people and not others. You have to figure out what works for you and what you can stick with.
6 months ago, I was 250 lbs. Now I weigh 177 lbs. I walk 2 5k's per day. Morning and evening. I have cervical and lumbar stenosis, and walking is low impact and something I can do. It's the only exercise I do. For me, walking is the best exercise for people who have physical limitations.
That's an amazing transformation! I never really broke the 200s consistently. I tried but my calorie intake just wouldn't support that next level drop. I'm still hopeful and keep fighting the good fight every day!
@@sij809 Portion control. I found out what my BMR is and factored in my walking for calories burned and went from there. There are a number of calculators available online that will point you in the right direction. My BMR is around 1550 calories per day. I currently walk around 5-miles per day. My current weight is where I want to be, so I eat around 2000 calories per day. That's the formula that works for me.
I have to say my man, you look 10 years younger! I just started doing 20k steps per day a few weeks ago. I've dropped down from 14.5% bf down to 12.1% bf without even changing my diet. Makes it super easy to eat in a caloric deficit.
I appreciate those kind words.. 12% BF.. wow! I am still fighting the good fight to stay out of the 30% range. Good on you for such discipline. Really impressive!
@@vCloudInfo I was wrong. I was using a handheld bf scanner that i was measuring with. It was way off! I went to get a dexa scan. Im actually 23.4%. Geesh. I just finished by third week of 20k steps per day. Im down 10 pounds. Walking at eating a 500 cal caloric deficit.
23% is still awesome! I am right about 27.5 right now.. I've found as my WATER percentage goes up (currently 53%), the Fat percentage drops a bit more. Not sure if it's TOTALLY correlated but interesting none the less.
I try to walk everyday and get 10,000 steps. The best thing to help me are podcasts to listen to while walking; the time zips by when you are listening to something interesting. By the way, I am 67 years old and have been doing this for almost 10 years. If I can do it, so can you!
Thank you for posting this! It helps to inspire those of us who are trying to be healthier. I've lost 40 pounds since May of 2022. I walk 2 miles a day, either outside or on my treadmill. Working up to 3, but when I started, I could only walk for 10-15 minutes. Now I walk 45-50. I'm proud of myself! You should be, too! Keep it up!
That's an Awesome Story! Thank you for sharing it in the comments here. Any miles are better than no miles so good Work! Find the cadence that makes sense for you to keep motivated.
Thank you for posting the video. I am about to turn 40 myself. I started my journey 2 months. I was 329lbs, I started walking. My friend connected to my trainer, who is also a nutritionist, and within two months of my lifestyle change, I am currently 295 lbs. Your video shows me if I continue to walk it will come off. Thank you again.
I have been walking for the past 2 months, I was 275 lbs. Started with 10K steps per day now doing 20K steps per day. Its tough. Lost 28 lbs. I am targeting below 200lbs. I also do a little bit of weight trainning everyday like 20 minutes. Also restricting by calories to 2000 per day.
That is amazing! Keep fighting the good fight! I got Under 200 just briefly. It was and is not easy for me but you are doing the right things to get there!
45+ minutes EVERY DAY. Key factor to doing it every day is I can watch only when walking new Netflix shows. I can't wait to go walk just to see what's happening in the next episode. On my treadmill I use the Hill walk setting, it gets quite fast but good tempo right below jogging. Keep going!!
That’s a great way to motivate yourself! I do that also with PODCASTs. I love the ALL IN podcast a lot and LEX Friedman. What shows do you end up watching on your walk?
At >120Kg I started walking three months ago. At first I had to walk with the aid of a medical walking stick and could hardly manage a single street block. Sticking to my walks, this improved and I could gradually increase the distance though I had intense pains in both legs, literally from my feet to above my hips, especially late at night. Progressively this has improved to where I can now manage 6 kilometres in a walk of an hour and a half and only "really need" the cane in the second half of my walk due to pain my legs. The swelling in my feet has greatly subsided (I jumped shoe sizes from 9 to 13 before walking) and my weight is down to 111Kg. The secret I found is to have rest days to allow your body to recover and to set attainable goals where it is more important to do a little consistently than a lot at once with the expectation of instant change. My biggest obstacle is the rapid drop of energy due to diabetes 2 when I exert myself - at first this was not an issue but is now a regular occurrence at around the 4Km mark.
Wow! You did good! And you have inspired me. I am so excited to read your story because I can recognise myself through some parts of it. thank you for posting and sharing.
Will suggest you use organic castor oil on your feet and leg and give yourself a deep massage. Your legs will feel better the next day. Try to massage at least 50 times per spot. Esp on your feet before bed time
Been doing 10k plus a day for 2 months now. Down 7kg. Its amazing it's so simple. Eating wise i try to keep to two meals a day, pretty much whatever i want.
This was an excellent video. Thank you for sharing your journey. I walk 10 miles daily and it was so hard at first, but now it's like breathing. Congrats on your weight loss.
@@swhiting100 I started during the pandemic. I would get up around 4 and walk for a few hours before my little ones got up. It was hard at first, but I’ve been doing it ever since. As a mom, it’s become my ‘me time’. 🤓
I’m starting at 8K steps a day. Trying to build the habit of just getting out there daily even if it’s raining : plus 16:8 IF ! Currently at 226lbs 5’7” so I’m in the obese category- watching all of these weight loss videos for inspiration- thanks for sharing your journey
Always remember that any movement is good. Daily progress. I always felt like streaks were more important than quantity. Walking 2k 7 days in a row is better than 10k every 3 days as an example. For me at least.
Lost 80 lbs. in the same period of time. Just walking, but not miles, time; 1 hour a day to start, 5-6 weeks later twice a week, now 83 lbs. later, 3x a day. No sugar, no bread, no rice. I got a kick out of watching you suffer. I hate walking, but knew I have to. I'm 67. Haven't felt this good in over 30 yrs. I hate it & just want to get it over with. 👍
You probably won’t see this but I actually grew up in the bear stone neighborhood, (2664) was our house haha the neighborhood looked super familiar at the beginning of the video. Started doing 1.5 hour walks everyday a few days ago. Congrats on the success :)
I lost around 4.5 kg in span of 1 month only by walking 10000 steps a day and low calorie diet...Walking is really helpful but totally depends on your diet
That's amazing! Great work! I agree, a lot of the hard work is done in the kitchen but the walking helped keep me motivated to do the hard work in the kitchen. Helped keep me accountable for the food decisions I had to make.
I love this video. I like it is simple and that you are a "normal dude" makes it feel attainable for everyone. Nothing fancy, go in and do the work, nice job staying consistent!
I appreciate encountering this honest and upfront post as I am currently on my own explorations in body composition transformation via walking. I have a manual treadmill under my standup desk so that that I may get in movement as I work throughout the day. I use to be very active before the pandemic and then during the next 2 and some years became sedentary and noticed alterations in my overall well being. Your video is a great motivator in trusting the process and maintaining consistency in. Thank you for making this video and sharing it.
So glad to have helped! I took so much inspiration from other videos I had seen on UA-cam. I love the idea of the desk treadmill but not sure if I could do it with balance. I feel like I would fall. I do stand a lot at my desk and shift back and forth. My desk is very no frills and similar to this one. amzn.to/40CDMH9
👏👏 well done! I have been doing 12000 steps a day and find the biggest challenge is finding the two hours in the day to do it. It’s hard, especially on night-shift days…
Yes! finding the time is tough.. try breaking it up, maybe 6k in the morning and then 6k in the evening. When I had extra time (usually saturdays), I would push for more steps if I felt good. then if I didn't hit numbers during the week, I knew I had banked some on the weekends. One tip that helped me though - DON'T GET STUCK ON THE NUMBERS. The only number that mattered for me was doing SOMETHING daily. So if you only have 15 minutes to walk, walk it.. don't use the excuse that there is not enough time to get the full 10 or 12k. That mentality of DO SOMETHING helped me a lot.
Good job. I struggle with my weight too. I have been a lousy eater my whole life and it has caught up with me. When my son was born, I decided to make changes to be a good example and make sure he has me as long as possible.
That makes my day! I made the video because I love seeing other people's journey videos so am so happy to see that it helped push you down your own journey! Keep Moving Forward!
I am software Engg. Started to gain weight and belly fat now started to walk 6 miles every day from past 2 days. I can feel healthy now. Long journey ahead.
Dude, I think ur video is extremely inspirational to those who want to lose the weight. Just like you, I am very inspired by other people’s u-tube videos of losing weight….my biggest issue is that I had 13- serious surgeries to name a few: 2- back fusions, another back surgery, upper an lower neuropathy, bi-lateral carpal tunnel, 1- neck fusion, 2- tennis elbow surgeries, 4- shoulder surgeries--2- L, 2- R. A right knee maniscus surgery….Etc. But YOU have inspired me. Now I just have to just, “Do It” and Push Forward. Thank you. That one word I could not spell correctly involving my knee, numerous other surgeries as well, about 99% of them were from work. So I am going to get after it, Plus, TRY to come up with Clean Eating Meals Per Day, along with Definitely upping my Protein intake!!!! Good luck and Thank You Again.👍
AMAZING! Love the positive attitude. I'm currently nursing a sprained ankle and am looking for other ways to stay active - For me, I am trying to lift on my weight machine (arms only). Point being, keep the positive attitude and keep looking for ways to burn calories and change the lifestyle. Go Get it!
I walk 4 miles a day and I eat 2 meals a day and I play basketball until it’s time to go on my walk I weighed about 238 it’s my 3rd week and I’ve went down to 231 and I walk 7 days a week so hopefully I can go all the way through and lose about 50 pounds as well
That’s amazing! Keep trusting the process. I’m doing my second 100 days again. I’m on day 18 today. Hoping to push myself under 200 pounds. So happy to hear this is working for you so far!
That is awesome Ron! I've kind of transitioned to that mark now as well. I'm not so stringent on getting the 3 miles in a single clip but more of getting at least 10k steps a day throughout.
I am same age more or less (i am 46) , i am 5,7 tall and weight same , just a bit less than when you started . I walk pretty much same distance every single day last 45 days . I do it in the morning as i learned i have more energy and it makes me feel better . I have lost basically only 2 kg in these 45 days but it is how i FEEL that makes me think i found the right activity for me, and it also how i LOOK (i lost several centimeters around my waist , my face looks different etc ) . I read in the comments you gained some weight back, who cares, because i also read you feel great walking . I feel same, happier, more content, even self esteem went up . I love walking and if I will lose even 1 kg a month , well i am more than happy . Even my food intake has reduced significantly, and with no effort . Well done !
Thank you for the kind words. I have gained some of the weight again (about 20 pounds). I’m starting my walking routine again. Today is day 6. I’m going to do another 100 days straight of walking 3 miles a day. You are right, I feel great and I like walking. I’m looking forward to making a second video on this since a lot of people lose and gain it back. It’s a struggle and it happens to a lot of us but it’s never too late to try again and keep pushing! I’m so happy to hear about your success! Keep walking and I’ll see you at the finish line! :)
@@michellexx8355 thanks a lot ! I lost 7kgs total now in almost 3 months . Morning walk has become more energetic than before, my steps are faster, my speed is greater and so is my stamani . Always at empty stomach ! And my mood especially in the first half of the day is great . Walking does magic !
Agreed. I missed my walk today and I really felt off. The walk does a sort of mental reset during the day. (I like mid afternoon walks). Today I didn’t prioritize it and I felt like I was just dragging along the rest of the day. Tomorrow is a fresh start to di the right thing though.
Excellent work dude. Up to 7.8 miles for the past 13 weeks. Was averaging 5.5 or so for the 13 before that. Never really weighed myself, but am told I’ve lost weight. Feel better. Combined it with carnivore.
Nice work! That's the main ting.. how do you feel. That feeling becomes momentum and keeps you moving forward in the right direction. Each Saturday, I would do a LONG walk which put me into the 8 to 10 mile range. I called it Challenge Saturday.. It was a day that I had more time on my hands to do those longer walks.
00:43 I think you just said the MOST important words: even though our brain or body don't want us to move, we have just to START and things will get better.....
Yeah walking works like a charm. I walk 10K per day and lift weights twice per week. That routine melts the fat off pretty quickly. I do several 3K walks though, walking a lot at once feels pretty rough on my body.
Inspiring! Thanks for sharing your story. I just started walking again which has always been my go-to workout hoping to shed 40 lbs. Thanks for motivating me:)
I'm so proud of you,you have done so well,I'm walking every day and the results are amazing ,I've lost a stone in 10 weeks ,you cant lose weight if you don't put the effort in,you are a amazing, love Suzy from England,xx
Thank you for the positivity! Good luck with your journey. Be sure to come back in 30 days and 6 months to let us know the results. You will feel incredible.
I’m currently walking 5 miles a day, today is the last day of month one (July 31st). Takes me almost exactly 90 minutes. I’ve had three people randomly start joining me on walks here and there. Personally I’m down about 10 pounds. I also watch your video every few days to keep motivated. As a kid from Orlando, now living in Gainesville, I see your Orlando City shirt and feel like we’re family. Hope you’re doing well man.
That's awesome! I am glad to help keep you motivated. I feel the same way about these comments. I read and respond to all of them and they keep me motivated to Lace up and get walking! 10 pounds is a great milestone! Keep walking toward the place you want to be!
Thank you sharing. I walked 5miles 3 days a week between July and August. Within a month I lost about 10lb. I'm starting over today and this just gave me more motivation.
I'm 47M. My weekend routine involves walking 10km each day. During the weekdays, I either walk 5km or swim 1km for every session. I'm glad that I keep fit and healthier than my peers.
Thanks for sharing. Just hit 48 years this year and I've been adding on about five or more extra pounds for the last few years. Hoping to just shed much of the extra and get more core strength over these summer months. I was a long time runner and even longer time distance walker. I can still plow through a mile in a 10 to 15 minute pace depending on hills and traffic stops, so it isn't a lot of time to log a few miles here and there. Clear the head and take in the neighborhoods.
Yeah.. I do love walking outside.. 10 to 15 is a great pace. I have to REALLY push hard to grab a 10.. I'm more comfortable in the 13 to 15 minute range. But as long as I move this mass 3 miles, I'm happy regardless of pace.
Excellent video; this walking every day strategy works at any age. I began walking every day during 2020 and have continued. Within 18 months my body weight went from 205 lbs. at 6 feet tall down to 160 lbs. and my health and energy level greatly improved. This allowed me to stop taking cholesterol medicine and eliminate ALL the physical side-effects of that medicine. I am now almost 70 yrs. old and feel healthy and happy.
Great video! I’m 35 y/o 5ft 9 about 245lbs I just stopped snacking between meals and and started walking 1 hour a day in December,it was rough the first 2 weeks, cutting out the Junk food made me fatigued and light headed, but I’m still going it’s been 15 days and it’s amazing I feel better but have lots of work to do.I want to lower my blood pressure and since I started dieting and exercising my liver stopped hurting which makes me feel great!
That is such GREAT NEWS! Thanks for sharing! It's great to read all the stories and different journeys. Cutting out the snacks for me was really big as well. I didn't eliminate them all, but I cut out a LOT of them. I also tried to make the one snack I had GOOD.. Like 2 TBLSPOONS of ice cream or apple with peanut butter. Something I really enjoyed. Have you cut them out COMPLETELY?
@@vCloudInfoyes I cut snacks out for good but for a few days I was still having a coke with my lunch, which is probably going to be a challenge to quit that for good. However I did go a few days with no coke so I know j can do it,.I think once I loose a significant amount of weight I’ll treat myself to a cheat day!
Dropping soda is a real win. If you. An eliminate that, you will deserve a cheat day! Good Luck! I no longer buy soda. It’s a treat only when I am eating out. No more in the house.
I wish you the best on your journey! I'm also doing my walks again.. today was day 19.. So keep getting at it and let's both get to 100 days of walking again!
Thanks for this. I happened to start the exact same strategy at the start of this year and was 241lbs and am now down to 215lbs, great to see what a difference it can make if I keep it up.
@@AbeerSharaf No, but I've been lucky that I never had too much additional weight on my legs, it seemed to have accumulated everywhere else. It is still working for me as I'm now down to 210lbs. I have also added a weekly 1 hour cycle ride and started swimming again this week.
Thank you so much for your reply,I'm a bit disheartened today,I've walked 5 miles every day and eaten very healthy but today I weighed myself and I've not lost any weight ,I've lost a stone in 11 weeks so don't know why I haven't lost weight this week, just wondered if this is normal, you really inspire me to keep on walking, love Suzy.xx
I 100% percent had those 'stalls' as well. BUT I quickly learned that the scale number is not the only measure of progress. If I reflected and was honest with myself, I would remember the huge gains in energy, spirit, confidence, stamina etc.. My advice would be to look at ALL the things that are measurable and even subjective. Fighting for a number on the scale felt like a losing battle long term for me personally. It was just one measure that I could look at for progress but there were a lot of others that I could look too when that one didn't seem to cooperate. :)
It's a very true statement in the sense that there is rarely HARM added to you when you walk consistently. You might not notice but you are healthier than you were when you didn't walk.
I’ve been trying to dive into a healthy lifestyle head first, and seeing this video definitely is giving me the motivation to stick to the change and set a daily goal I can achieve daily 💪🏼
That's awesome! We all need little pushes in the right direction. Give me some inspiration on what small change you are gonna make? I've been trying to eat a bowl of oatmeal each day (to get that first 'win' done first thing in the AM)
@@vCloudInfoI want to start stretching/yoga, and making sure I walk a minimum of 30min per day. It’s the days I miss my big workouts that I just don’t do anything, so I want to make sure I have a baseline to stick to!
Its Great Story . I have started walking since last week of march and its been around 3 months , with some involvement of intermittent fasting and eating in moderation and walking around 3-4 km 5-6 days a week , I have been able to reduce weight from 120 kg to 107.8 kg , really feels so light and healthier. Also wanted to add that apart from fitness anxiety and stress issues also are reduced with walk , i have personally felt that as well . I am planning to start 5 km everyday from now for next 60 days and see where it gets me , keeping the food intake more or less same Thanks once again mate !
That's AWESOME! I had the same effects when it came to stress and work related things. I found that taking that walk midday, when I came back, I was more focused to accomplish more stuff. It was kind of like a 3pm Coffee kind of jolt. I'm excited for you for your next 60 days.. good luck and be sure to report back your results. I found accountability a big part of my success as well.
@@vCloudInfo yea definitely .. also what i have learnt from some other's that reducing the fat/weight is good but maintaining it is bigger challenge ..its like reaching at top and then staying at the top
Thanks for sharing this video. Very recognizable and very inspiring at the same time. This video gave me a boost as I intend to start with my own journey next week !!! Greetings from a Melanesian living in the Netherlands. 🌞
Yes.. THIS.. I even noticed that through the walking, I'd work on my posture and walk a little taller and it fundamentally changed how I and others viewed myself. Small Change but big effects.
I started walking in May and was not walking enough in the beginning. Did not even realize that my iPhone had the Pedometer app. I am down 25 lbs. and now am walking 5.5 miles in a day. I am a 70 year old retired woman so I have the time to take 2+ hour walks. I am not doing strength training but may add it. I have come down from being overweight on my BMI to being in the middle of “Normal” but I’d still like to get down 15 - 20 lbs. Have to see how I feel. Losing weight at my age is not easy without exercise so no matter when I achieve the total weight loss I am working towards, walking will be part of my life from now on. I have an old back injury in my lower spine. My chiropractor is glad I am walking but says “No Running!” I am doing a lot of stretches however and some squats and counter pushups but not daily. Have to get my focus on consistency with that. I have only missed a few days due to injuries or that I had early appointments or it was just plain too hot and did not get up early enough to get my walk in. Still my weight did not go up. I also follow a no-oil Whole Plant-Food Starch-Based diet now for roughly 10 years. I used to weigh 200 lbs. and now am at 135 lbs. I was 5’5” but now due to disk compression from aging am 5’4”. Looking pretty toned and sleeping way better. My mother and sister both died of breast cancer so they will not give me hormone replacement therapy so I have to really watch how I eat to help manage hormones. The new science says I could do HRT but my clinic does not follow the latest research. And now they say I am too old also. Before I was too young. Always a new excuse.
Congratulations on your incredible journey to better health and fitness! Your dedication to walking and a whole plant-based diet is truly inspiring, especially considering the challenges you've faced. Keep up the great work, and here's to achieving all your wellness goals! 🚶♀️💪🌱 I'm curious, do you have any favorite meals that you've found to be a base for success? I find all the work happens in the kitchen and I struggle for food choices. I use Oatmeal as my BASE breakfast when I want an easy victory but lunch and dinner are kind of free for alls. :)
@@vCloudInfo I have to admit that meal prep and meal planning requires understanding what good nutrition is and being dedicated to not shooting myself in the foot. The first thing to gain mastery over is our minds. We were raised in a meat-eating culture with dairy foods, lots of things over-driving our tastebuds. In short, we were conditioned to eat that way. It took time to make us that way and it takes reprogramming, with the right information so that I can make the right choices. It is not such a matter of will, it is a matter of re-educating the mind. When I walk I’ve been listening to an audible book: Dr. John McDougall’s “The Starch Solution”, so I listen to that. I’ll likely get another book as it is the only audible book I have. And my internet cuts out on my walk, so UA-cam is not reliable to listen to. My diet is centered around starch therefore so I want the starch with the best nutrition profile. I eat a lot of microwaved- baked potatoes. It is the kind of potato which makes the difference. I choose Yukon Gold or Yellow potatoes as they taste best without adding butter. I eat one for breakfast. It is topped with my homemade fresh salsa along with Kraft Fat-FREE Zesty Italian Salad Dressing. If I can’t find that, the Wishbone Italian Fat-FREE is good too. If you want to lose weight, if you don’t eat any fat, it is far easier to lose weight, so your body will use your fat stores. I was making cooking rolled oats, but these have about 2.5 grams of fat per serving. The potato has a trace amount of fat, not even .5 gram. So it is a better choice. But I do not add any fat either. I generally have a citrus fruit with this, but grapefruit works best. There is the grapefruit diet and it exists because it helps you lose weight. If you want to add some sugar, it is allowable. I drink a 1/4 cup of Vanilla coffee with a splash of Silk Soy milk. This has some fat also but I am not using enough to make much difference. Sometimes I for go the fruit and have a mixed green salad, again with the Fat-Free dressing. I put a lot of stuff on the salad if I have it for lunch or dinner but not that fussy for breakfast. By the time I have tidied up the kitchen and gotten dressed, I go for my walk. I do not stroll, I walk as fast as I can maintain the steady momentum. I wear a bandana around my neck which helps absorb sweat. And generally I am out for 2 hours, sometimes longer. Come back, cool down and drink 2 glasses of filtered water with ice cubes. Lunch is the main course as I will be able to burn it up. I usually have on hand zucchini, broccoli, yellow squash - these are steamed, carrots, it is a nice medley together. My husband has had high blood pressure so we eat fresh beets and beet greens, though not daily. The starch will be based on the Yellow Potatoes usually but we like rice also, and brown is better. Have that with soy sauce as there is no fat in it. I will often dry grill some raw onion with some mushrooms which makes a great topping for potatoes if baked. But I have a Cuisinart Hot-Air Fryer Oven countertop and I will make French Fries of the Yellow potatoes. This takes approximately 10 minutes and I turn them. I just cut the potatoes myself. I have gotten used to fat-free French Fries. We enjoy these with ketchup or BBQ sauce. Another quick lunch is to make a bowl of canned chili, fat-free and vegetarian. Top with grilled onion and bell pepper, serve with more salsa and have the French Fries on the side with a small side salad or fresh fruit. Dinner is most often a salad for me and it is often leftovers. My husband likes Bush’s Vegetarian Baked beans. But we will add Bermuda onion, grilled and some chopped up vegan hotdogs. I don’t eat many of this as again, here is 10 grams of fat in one dog. They are harder to find, we get Field Roast Frankfurters. They really taste best. Another meal we eat either for lunch or dinner is this hot dog. But now as we have to order them on-line I will substitute a boiled carrot shaped like a hot dog, in a toasted whole wheat bun, again hard to find, but our local Walmart has these. I enjoy this with chopped raw onion, Claussen’s Sour Kraut, a chopped Peppercini, sweet pickle relish, ketchup and mustard with a bit of Grill Mates Montreal Steak seasoning. We can eat salt on this diet and a sprinkle of this is very nice. Use it also on my morning baked potato which I dice up in stead of mashing it. I eat the skin too. Other meals are homemade split pea soup or lentil soup to which the ready steamed veggies are added. Protein - what we use most often to supplement are Boca Burgers as they are low in fat and are tasty. Another good choice is Black Bean Burgers. We avoid frying anything. Gardein make good meat balls and are a good on top of spaghetti with Prego or Raghu spaghetti sauce. Serve with a side salad, fat-free dressing. My husband likes the Fat-Free Kraft Thousand Island and this can be used in place of mayonnaise on a sandwich. We like the Oroweat Dutch Dill Bread or the Milton’s Whole Wheat bread. Both of these are tasty breads. We often make dry toast for a meal with a can of Progresso Minestrone soup or their vegetable soup. When the dry toast is dipped in the soup, I don’t mind the lack of any butter. There are many fat-free vegan meal recipes available on line. Watching some cooking videos are helpful as they teach you how to dry fry and if an when to add a bit of water. You have to have an eye for this and a good non-stick pan is necessary for this. If we eat out it is only once a week, we do Olive Garden as they have soup and salad for a reasonable price and get their minestrone soup and it is served with bread sticks. Or we get a fried tofu bowl at Healthy Japan or we’ll have a veggie burger at Habit Grill with their green bean fries. Note: not often on eating out as their veggie burgers do have fat in them but once a week is not going to hurt. We also enjoy homemade tacos, fat-free, with the homemade salsa, shredded lettuce, I dry grill the corn tortilla to where is begins to brown but can be folded. Have this with Zataran’s yellow rice made without oil or butter, side is mixed veggies. I eat one, my husband will eat two. We do use a sprinkle of vegan cheese shredded, on this. I add a chopped up Boca or Black Bean burger by Morning Star Farms into canned vegetarian refried pinto beans. I add some chili seasoning as it is easy to taste. The leftovers of this filling is good for a burrito. I grill this in my Cuisianart Griddler as it helps to seal the burrito and then we will share half each of this. Portion control works this way for us as the idea is to have a feast which keeps you feeling pampered but one without added fat. I do eat bananas but not daily and then only 1/2. We do eat watermelon and cantaloupe also, apples, nectarines, grapefruit, oranges and these can be enjoyed anytime We try and not eat after 7 PM, this incorporates a longer fast till breakfast. Good idea. If we snack, I make fat-free popcorn in the Orville Reddenbacher microwave bowl. I will spray for myself, some Bragg’s Liquid Aminos for a salty taste. My husband won’t eat it without butter. I am near my goal weight, he isn’t, he has to have butter on some foods like toast or have a fried egg or put butter on a bake potato. He is still 40 lbs. overweight and he isn’t doing the walking either. Not eating any fat makes the difference. I have also begun physical therapy for my back which targets my core and they are tough exercises. They make me break out in sweat a bit. Whatever exercise you can get in is great. If I can’t walk I have an AirDyne old Schwinn exer-bike and and old Cardio-Fit which is a sort of a rower. I do not drink anything but water except for breakfast and have some fruit juice, a small glass to get my vitamins down. I take no medications and neither does my husband. My BP is usually 115/75 with 59 heart rate. No type II diabetes or high cholesterol either. We do take a multi-vitamin for seniors by One-A-Day without iron for me for women, for him for men. We take Turmeric. My nails get weak so I take gelatin, we also take Vitamin D, a Magesium pill, 1/2 of a potassium and I take a zinc supplement as I was getting white spots in my nails and this stopped that. I use Nivea lotion and this has some fat I absorb too but it keeps my skin nice. Wear good shoes on your walk. Best wishes to your success. Sally
That’s impressive. Motivational. I know it’s been awhile since this video was posted but I hope you’re still keeping up with this wonderful lifestyle that has inspired me to get back to walking more as well. Bless up 🙏🏼
I am! I do allow myself to miss a day here and there since it's not for a video and is now part of my lifestyle and I allow for swaps.. biking instead of running or a session of basketball instead of a 3 mile walk.. things like that.. I try not to miss 2 days in a row.
I walk about 10 to 12km ( 6, 7 miles) a day. I lost 34 pounds so far in 9 months. I sleep better, feel better, have more energy, waaay less back pain and the pain in my right knee is gone. I always stretch first. I pick up pace in about 5 min. I was breathing like crazy at first but after a week I learned how to control my breath which gave and still gives me even more energy during my walks. Wishing everyone who's starting this journey all the best. It's a game changer I'm telling you!
It's very counter intuitive to think that knee and back pain will go away but I have experienced that same result. I think it's the increased blood flow that helps keep everything loose and repaired. Great work on the 34 Pounds!
@@vCloudInfo Yep, I have some osteoarthritis and years ago a PT told me that movement keeps joints lubricated. The more you sit, the stiffer you get! (as long as you don't have an injury, of course)
I used to run alot and took a 4 month break, and now it's hard for me to gain momentum again. Decided to walk instead 😅and I'm loving it, aiming to lose at least 1kg 0.5lb a month so i can keep it off long term, instead of quick results that don't last long and are hard to maintain.
@@vCloudInfo lol... so u gained most of the weight back huh... Let me give u my 3 years experience. instead hurting ur knees walking so much and time and effort. insteas buy a set of 15kg dumbbells. do a 3 reps of any work out u want to failure. when u do a rep to failure, body produces growth hormone. growth hormone will not only burns fat for next couple days, but will put u in a better mood physically and metally as well. i said heavy dumbbells because u can reach failure faster. lets say 3 reps of bicep curl. each rep to failure... for 15g i think u will rech fail at around 6th. so yeah spend 10 mins a day instead wearing out yourself walking for nothing. or doing aeroics exercises. BTW push ups also can help u lose weight. ( push up to failure)
So I didn't gain it all back.. only 20 out of 55.. (and that 20 fluctuates down to 15 depending on the day) BUT it definitely came back in a different form.. The body recomp is real and it is because I also started doing weight training. I totally agree that some resistance training is necessary to maintain and keep losing. I still like to walk though.. I did 4 miles today in 45 minutes.. I run outdoors and feel great afterwards. So some of the weight came back but the cardiovascular progress didn't revert back much (other than carrying around more weight).
@@vCloudInfo for sure walking is good. But when u admit u dont like it, it means u need to listen to ur body. whe u say u dont like it, it means your cortisol level is high. cortisol locks your fat cells and instead burning fat your muscles will burn. i remember i used to sped 2 hours doing aerobics, on stationary bike, trademil, alliptical, then many abs exercises. changes were very slow. but when i started weight training i saw the real change. my error was, i didnt want to gain big muscles so i dont weight lifting, but i was wrong, u cant believe how to many videos here and even many trainers are in the wrong about human bodies. nowadays all i do is just walk to gym and back home ( its about 2.4 km total ). and i do some weight training at the gym. walking 3 miles a day everyday is not somethign u can keep doing in long term. but walking to the gym 3 days a week doing resistance training. will give u better results in 3 weeks than what u do 3 miles a day with all those exercises for 3 months. i know this for sure. BTW if sometimes u get lazy and cant walk. plank is very good. one plank to failure can keep u going for 2 days. im not a body builder or a trainer. im just a semi lazy person who looking for best options with less costs, either money or cost to the body. U know some parts of body dont recover, or if they do they recover at very low rate at some age. its best we make best use of them and not putting them under non necessary pressure. knees, joints, back, spine are those parts.
Yeah.. 13 minutes is a real struggle for me now. I have to REALLY focus and push myself to get those numbers now. 15 minutes is a much more comfortable pace for me at this time.
Thank you for thus video. I'm thinking of starting a walking program, and I'd like to add strength training as well. I'm not sure if I'll record my journey and post it for all to see...
I'd encourage you to record it.. even if you don't want to post it, you can use it for reference to SEE the changes. I used it for that, accountability and then to eventually post (even though it's really a one off for my channel since I primarily post about Smart Home Stuff).
i ahve always been into light fitness. just not consistwnt. some months i walked. then gaps. then i did yoga then gaps... cycle and then long gaps of 3-4 months.... What hit a cord wiht me is your consistency. I am 52. so the age bracklet is also there. as many videos i see are of younger folks.. and its easier to knock weight off before 40. So defintely inspiring. Cna u give some insight ino the strngth training you did... i would like to add that to my routine. I am at 2.2 miles miles walk a day / 4k. need to push to 5k soon.
Hi Aarati, I agree that it’s a lot easier when you are younger. :). For strength, I started really small (just like the waking). I started with a few pushups each day (when I started I could barely do one so I did them against a wall, then on stairs, then on a bench and then on the floor eventually. I’m up to about 15 REALLY good form ones at a clip. Almost everything my first year was body weight exercises. Pushups, squats, lunges etc. I’ve recently started working with weights on a cable machine. I’ve just been trying to stay consistent and progress slowly. Keep consistent and I think you’ll do great!
Inspring video; similar story; in my early 50s. As of Jan 2023 started walking 6 miles ( approx 71 mins), 5 days a week with weekend off. Now into my second month, so long way to go. Id like to keep it up for a year before truly assessing the benefits. Starting weight was around 250 pounds, cant be absolutely sure as I dont weigh myself. Its a nasty habit chasing those pounds! Working on flexibility and mobility at the moment to improve joint condition and removing strain injuries Where on earth do all those misalignments and muscle strains come from! With a good warm up I can now: straddle, butterfly - thighs to ground, about 8 inches from a split. Backbend is nowhere in sight but will persist !! Once i get [ close to ] these ill move on bodyweight training. Theres so much good stuff out there Just need to stick with it. Anyway great video, seems super genuine, you weren't trying to sell me something. Nice to see someone commensurate in age putting themselves out there. Good luck on your journey
Great job!!! Keep up the great work..my avg steps per day is 15k, plus I ride about 10 miles on my bike, I also do some light weights and push ups....been off Metformin for about 3 years.
Walking works. You have to do 5 miles a day basically. If you combine it with carnivore that will help. Even then, it’s slow. 5 miles a day is like 3500 calories a week and that’s one pound per week basically. So once you start, you need to really keep moving ass for several months to get a noticeable result.
Yes.. this is very true.. it is about consistency but the results do take time. But you will FEEL results very quickly in terms of stamina, breathing, energy, etc.. Those things react in your body REALLY FAST.
thank you for sharing your journey - you are an inspiration - it does not take a lot to be healthy - just consistency in diet and exercise. Congratulations
I’ve been walking 4.5-9 miles a day for the last 10 days. Nothing really happened the first week. Now im starting to feel better, and the weight is starting to drop.
I do a 3 mile walk M-F before work. I got from 285 down to 240. I am gaining weight and don’t understand why if I am exercising. I also cut out sugar and sweets. I want to get down to 200.
I struggle with that same thing. I feel like I am SOOOO active BUT when I really think about it, it also probably really under report my calorie intake during those periods so it makes sense. less calories in, more calories out really is the formula.
Covid definitely messed a lot of stuff up. But for me, this is and will be a life long marathon struggle. Food is just too good. :)
@@vCloudInfogood answer. All these geniuses love to focus on calories in calories out, but everyone is different.
❤
Did you diet?
I did not except with the change in portion sizes and really trying hard to cut out snacking.
@@ChuckHolland-i4b great job
I try to walk everyday and get 10,000 steps. The best thing to help me are podcasts to listen to while walking; the time zips by when you are listening to something interesting. By the way, I am 67 years old and have been doing this for almost 10 years. If I can do it, so can you!
That's awesome! I do like listening to Lex friedman and the All In podcast. Long form so plenty of podcast to get those 10k steps in!
You rock ❤
Thank you for posting this! It helps to inspire those of us who are trying to be healthier. I've lost 40 pounds since May of 2022. I walk 2 miles a day, either outside or on my treadmill. Working up to 3, but when I started, I could only walk for 10-15 minutes. Now I walk 45-50. I'm proud of myself! You should be, too! Keep it up!
That's an Awesome Story! Thank you for sharing it in the comments here. Any miles are better than no miles so good Work! Find the cadence that makes sense for you to keep motivated.
Omigosh, Cindy! Wonderful post and very inspiring! Thank you for sharing!
Great journey. I don’t know you but I’m proud of you!
One step at a time. Celebrate the success you’ve accomplished already and keep moving forward. YOUR story motivates me. Thank you for sharing!
calories?
Calories: Intake Less than you Burn. That's about the only equation that matters.
Low long did it take to lose 28 lbs ?
@@rdphotographyjm Around 2.5 months
Wow @hjgftcgcc ! That's a lot of progress.. Keep it up!
Check out the carnivore diet !
@@ch_boki great job
Thank you for sharing your journey! Keep pushing to be better everyday a little at a time!
Well done. Stay hydrated. Also look at stretching videos for the down time. If you can stretch everyday.
Wow! You did good! And you have inspired me. I am so excited to read your story because I can recognise myself through some parts of it. thank you for posting and sharing.
Thank you all for the positive comments! Keep them coming!
Nice work! Keep up that momentum and let us know how you are doing in a few more months!

This was an excellent video. Thank you for sharing your journey. I walk 10 miles daily and it was so hard at first, but now it's like breathing. Congrats on your weight loss.
Wow! 10 miles a day! Amazing! Thank you for sharing your experience!
Yes i agree thats a great distance, im aiming for that , I'll start with the letterbox, then work up to it...

Do you walk first thing? How did you embed this habit?

It's a pretty small world out there. Florida has some great places to walk. Keep up the progress! Best of luck!
You not only look thinner, you look a LOT HEALTHIER AND YOUNGER !
Yes. That was the most noticeable thing for me. The ABILITY to walk further and further.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate the positivity.

Truly inspirational. Walking at night and in the rain. WOW. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your journey
You are so welcome! Thank you for taking the time to drop a comment on the video..

Each Saturday, I would do a LONG walk which put me into the 8 to 10 mile range. I called it Challenge Saturday.. It was a day that I had more time on my hands to do those longer walks.
00:43 I think you just said the MOST important words: even though our brain or body don't want us to move, we have just to START and things will get better.....
it really IS tough to get your brain waves going in the right direction. :) One step at a time though..
Yeah walking works like a charm. I walk 10K per day and lift weights twice per week. That routine melts the fat off pretty quickly. I do several 3K walks though, walking a lot at once feels pretty rough on my body.
Yeh..I've read that smaller walks throughout the day keep the metabolism up as well..rather than one big walk and then sitting the rest of the day.
Inspiring! Thanks for sharing your story. I just started walking again which has always been my go-to workout hoping to shed 40 lbs. Thanks for motivating me:)
Go for it! This comment motivates ME to get back out there as well. I haven't walked in about 3 weeks now. :/ - Hurricanes took me out of my groove.
I'm so proud of you,you have done so well,I'm walking every day and the results are amazing ,I've lost a stone in 10 weeks ,you cant lose weight if you don't put the effort in,you are a amazing, love Suzy from England,xx
I love this comment and story! Great work and keep it up! Thanks for continuing to inspire everyone else!
Well done! I'm also doing the same thing this year. It's good to see such videos. They keep me going.
And these comments keep me going! Thank you for adding to the positivity!
Wow! So inspiring! And you look about 10-15 years younger to boot! Thank you for posting this. I am so going to do this.
Thank you for the positivity! Good luck with your journey. Be sure to come back in 30 days and 6 months to let us know the results. You will feel incredible.
@@vCloudInfo I sure will! now..... where is my darn calendar....
I hope you are still sticking with your journey! You got this!
You got this! It's a marathon not a sprint! :)
I'm 47M. My weekend routine involves walking 10km each day. During the weekdays, I either walk 5km or swim 1km for every session. I'm glad that I keep fit and healthier than my peers.
Health is Wealth my friend!
This is fantastic! ... and surprisingly inspiring. Thanks, Carlo.
Thanks so much JB! Very much appreciate the kind comments!
That’s an amazing and inspiring story! Thanks for sharing!
congrats man!! health is the most important automation!
Thanks Ricardo! Had to counteract the lack of getting up to flip light switches! :)
I started walking 10k steps daily with hill climbs and at 40 I’m at the same weight as when I was in the marine corps at 22
That's amazing! It's so helpfult o have a fitness background as well.. congrats on finding it again!
Thank you so much for posting this. You have really inspired me.
That’s wonderful! Comments like this inspiring me to keep going. Thank you!
Agreed! I like it and definitely gonna try to walk more...I remember doing this years ago andit worked 💪
Awesome! I’m actually in the middle of my second 100 day streak now. Day 64!

I love to hear that! Keep it up and best of luck on your journey!
Did ur thighs sag?

Just walk. The body knows what to do.
Yeah.. doing SOMETHING everyday was a really successful strategy for me.
I am planning to start 5 km everyday from now for next 60 days and see where it gets me , keeping the food intake more or less same
Thanks once again mate !

Walking 30 miles a week 4x7.5 sessions a week, been doing it for 6 weeks now ,feeling better as I'd put alot of weight on .

Change Identity..change the way you see yourself..key to lasting change
Yes.. THIS.. I even noticed that through the walking, I'd work on my posture and walk a little taller and it fundamentally changed how I and others viewed myself. Small Change but big effects.
Love that idea to walk for a 100 days Congrats on your weight loss
A 5K for a 100 days. :) It had such a good ring to it. :)
I'm curious, do you have any favorite meals that you've found to be a base for success?
We do eat watermelon and cantaloupe also, apples, nectarines, grapefruit, oranges and these can be enjoyed anytime
We try and not eat after 7 PM, this incorporates a longer fast till breakfast.
Sally

If you have time walking Six miles a day os better for weight loss especially if you weigh under two hundred pounds
Yeah totally. I gained some weight back recently and am at 220 so I’m back to 3 miles a day again. #TheStruggleIsReal
@@vCloudInfo keep working you will get there
@@vCloudInfo lol... so u gained most of the weight back huh...
U know some parts of body dont recover, or if they do they recover at very low rate at some age. its best we make best use of them and not putting them under non necessary pressure. knees, joints, back, spine are those parts.

i walk 3 miles a day best thing for you!!! i do a medium pace about 13min a mile
13 min miles is fast very good
Yeah.. 13 minutes is a real struggle for me now. I have to REALLY focus and push myself to get those numbers now. 15 minutes is a much more comfortable pace for me at this time.
That's great. 13 minutes is a great time! I've reverted to anywhere between 15 and 18 minutes a mile depending on time of day, weather and company.

Just started walking. Loving it.
Awesome! Keep up the work, it took me about 3 months of every day to really start seeing things change.
i ahve always been into light fitness. just not consistwnt. some months i walked. then gaps. then i did yoga then gaps... cycle and then long gaps of 3-4 months....

Great 😊 job.
Yeah.. documenting the journey really helped me 'see' the changes. - Thank you for the positive comment!
Working on flexibility and mobility at the moment to improve joint condition and removing strain injuries
Where on earth do all those misalignments and muscle strains come from!
With a good warm up I can now:
straddle, butterfly - thighs to ground, about 8 inches from a split. Backbend is nowhere in sight but will persist !!
Once i get [ close to ] these ill move on bodyweight training. Theres so much good stuff out there
Just need to stick with it.
Anyway great video, seems super genuine, you weren't trying to sell me something.
Nice to see someone commensurate in age putting themselves out there.
Good luck on your journey
Thank you for sharing your journey as well. Best of luck and keep it up. I still struggle on the daily but will keep trying.
6 miles in 71 mins? Wow you walk really fast.
Yeah. That’s a pretty steady run for me to accomplish that time!
I’m 250 I’m trying to loose weight I’ve lost 30 pounds I’m gonna try this thank u for your inspiration
Best of luck to you on your journey!
Great work, man. And very inspirational. Thank you
Thank you so much for the positivity!
Great job!!! Keep up the great work..my avg steps per day is 15k, plus I ride about 10 miles on my bike, I also do some light weights and push ups....been off Metformin for about 3 years.
That's probably the best reward of all! Congrats and continued success!
Love this video dude! Humble and focused and inspirational! Keep it up!
Thank you so much Nick! I really appreciate the encouragement! It’s a marathon, not a sprint…
Good job!!!!
Thanks!!
Thank you so much for this video. Very inspiring for this fellow ordinary guy👍👍
Appreciate the comment! Just trying my best to stay healthy.
thank you for sharing your journey - you are an inspiration - it does not take a lot to be healthy - just consistency in diet and exercise. Congratulations
Thank you so much for the kind words.
I’m now on day 5 of 10k steps per day my feet hurt so much but I also have my dog with me so that’s good for him he loves it
Win - WIn! The walks are good for both of you. :)
Thank you for sharing, very inspirational and you look great.
Thank you so much!
I’ve been walking 4.5-9 miles a day for the last 10 days. Nothing really happened the first week. Now im starting to feel better, and the weight is starting to drop.
That is amazing! Be sure to come back in a few months and give us an update. Both for us to be inspired and for the accountability..
Congratulations! Very inspiring!
Thank you so much!
Great job!
Thanks!!
Thank you for posting this inspirational video.
You are so welcome!
Well done very inspirational.
Thank you for the kind words on a Monday to start my week off great!
