🎉🎉👏🏽👏🏽 Kudos to you! I started working out in January, completing fitness videos on YT and subsequent website, but it's not enough since I have a more sedentary lifestyle due to work. I went on medical leave in March. Since May, I've been trying to increase my daily steps several times per week and focusing more on this than the workouts. I'm about a size 14-16 and want to get back down to my size 10. I hope it helps but I will continue. Thanks for the inspiration
I am physically disabled and have chronic pain due to severe spine and joint problems. I could probably do 30 min a day without hurting myself. This was super inspirational. I'm gonna try. I could even do it in my backyard while listening to an audio book that way I can yell if I hurt myself and get help easily.
I HAD bad back and joint pain and then I did some research on my diet. I quit sugar ! Anything that turns to glucose in our body like pasta and bread as well ! Sugar causes inflammation, and inflammation causes pain.
if youre at all able, search for a used threadmill in the paper/online. I got one for a few bucks, the screen was broken etc, but it worked. it was a lifesaver as I couldnt walk without holding on to something (severe balance problems) it really does help, especially if you dont feel like putting on presentable clothes to go out 😅
@@cjhoward409 HOW WONDERFUL FOR YOU!!! I have also quit added sugars cuz diabetes runs in my family. Not carbs though. Can't do both, I tried. I enjoy my sugar free baked goods. unfortunately my back and joint pain are caused by severe scoliosis and joint hypermobility disorder (I have chronic dislocations and subluxations). My pain may get better but it'll never go away.
I started the Leslie Sansome walk at home program, starting off with a mile and working up to four miles a day, six days a week. Just a hour. No pills, no ozempic shots, no diet drinks. Lost forty-seven pounds in six months. Mother nature is amazing.
I walked when it was cold. The weight came off. I rode my bike when it was warm. I lost my mom at 54 to obesity. She was close to 400 pounds. That's what keeps me motivated to stay in shape.
I was obese 4 months ago. Now my BMI has gone from 33 to 28, so I’m officially “overweight”. I started like you, walking every day. I ensured I made the walk enjoyable with music, audiobooks or podcasts. Then I gradually worked in more and more running. Today i run 75% of my KMs. I’ve lost 12 kg.
When I was 48 I started the Couch to 5K with the hope of losing 50 lbs by my 50th birthday. When I tell you the first time I ran 5K without stopping, I cried for 5 minutes, I ain’t lying! I still consider that my greatest accomplishment. I kept that routine up for a couple of years until an injury took me out. I regret not going back. I’m rooting for you girl!
I’m on day 4 of walking everyday. A neighbor told me something the other day that has given me lots of motivation, which is our street, from end to end, is a half mile loop. It’s a pretty tree lined street with a grassy, tree filled median in the center, so it really is like a loop, and our house sits sort of in the middle of one side. Therefore I’m close to home everywhere on the loop! This has allowed me to stop and get my dogs, and grab some water if I get thirsty. Yesterday I did the first lap and a half with one dog, the second lap and a half with my other dog and then grabbed my husband for the last lap. There’s something about this route that really feels motivating to me. I’m not planning on a 30 day walking challenge, I’m hoping to create a lasting, permanent routine. I have health problems related to being overweight, and it’s time to do something about it. Thank you for your honesty! Keep up the good work.
So glad you popped up on my feed! I will be 74 one month from today and have reached a turning point in my life: I either start slowly and keep moving toward fitness or I will be a very old woman very quickly. Thank you for sharing your realistic and inspiring journey. I think it’s time for me to walk along with you!
“I either start slowly and keep moving toward fitness or I will be a very old woman very quickly”. Something about that hit home for me. Thank you for those words. I needed those. ❤🙏🏼
Rita, I'm about to turn 72 soon so your comment really resonated with me. I had severe arthritis in my left hip for three yrs to the point I had to use TWO walking canes at the same time, and a rollator and then crutches. It was the worst constant agony and yes I was turning into a disabled very old woman beyond my years. I was as close to death as a person can get. I was terrified of hip replacement surgery especially with no support system at all, but the day came when I could no longer live like that and exist that way so I made the decision to get the surgery .. I was at a point where I had lost everything so what else was there to lose, you know what I mean. I can happily say now that my new hip is the best thing that ever happened to me! The entire process of surgery & recovery has been textbook perfect. The most painful part was nearly starving to death for abt two months after the surgery, right when I needed the healing nourishment the most. But I made it thru and now joyfully can walk anywhere without walking aids. It literally takes my breath away with joy to walk into a store like a normal healthy person. I feel and look so much younger now and ready to take on life firmly on two feet. I still have some issues with the piriformis nerve inflammation that turns my legs into rubber bands until I can sit awhile for it to pass, but more & more I have my stronger days and I get so much done on those days that it amazes me. Going from years of existing nearly dead to the vibrant full of life woman that I am now is truly epic. My soulful deep gratitude to the universe for making this happen is immeasurable. Rita keep going, never give up no matter how many baby steps or massive leaps it takes to reach your goal.
I am 63, I have been doing the carnivore diet for almost 7 months, I am down 35 kg and have more energy than I have ever had.. all the inflammation in my joints is gone, blood sugar perfect, no more gastrointestinal issues, no bloating, cholesterol is excellent..low triglicerides.. it reverses type 2 diabetes in a month.. it's fantastic.. think about it.. you will never feel better.. lots of vids on youtube
This is the motivation I needed. Used to do really high intensity workouts with weights and HIIT cardio about 2 years ago. I was in great shape And now after gaining so much weight, I tried to go back to those same workouts but my stamina and my heavy body wouldn’t let me enjoy them. So i gave up But now I understand that i can always start with a simple walk and work my way up from there Thank you for sharing this!🎉
You know what, it's just one foot in front of the other. This comment really got to me because I understand (to some extent) doing the hard things, then life happens and you slip up, and it's hard to get back to that momentum again. I used to be so down on myself, but honestly, just one step and small goals will get us there faster.
This!!! I haven’t lost 1 pound of post baby weight. My daughter will be 2 next month 😩. I was so used to doing these extreme workouts before. When I tried going back it felt awkward and I was even ashamed so I just stopped. But y can’t I start from zero right? Just a simple walk to get the body going. ❤
Walking is so underrated as a form of exercise. People think they have to automatically start sprinting for hours or lifting super heavy weights or do complicated exercises. No. Just start with walking. It's low impact. It's inexpensive (some good shoes help). You can do it anywhere. It's good for your mental health as well as your physical health.
I started walking 15 mins a day in December 2022. I went from 15 mins a day to being able to walk 5-7 miles at a time now. I would change up and try to add more steps, faster pace, uphills, etc. Along with improving my diet, the walking has helped me lose 25lbs. Take it slow and set small but doable goals. Take rest days when needed.
I started slow while fasting. First month 30 mins walk uphill. I kept adding a mile. 5 months later i lost 30 pounds and im a little taller than her. I do 15k steps now. Run 30 mins and the rest walking. The important thing is consistent and eating healthy. If youre reading this keep going. Youll get there.
I started walking almost every day in February. Like you I didn't lose any weight and didn't see much results. But gradually over time I have seen my energy go up, my sleep improve, find myself going on hikes, and overall just living a more fit lifestyle. I've since added biking, strength training, swimming and dancing to the mix, but still keep my steps up! And it all started with walking!
Girl!!! I’m about twice your age & just making some positive changes over the last few months. You’re 100% spot on & I love this video! I’m up to 1/2 hour of walking everyday, started from 10 minute’s every few days. I feel much better & if I don’t walk, I miss it. I remember reading something that stuck with me & gave me goosebumps….”walk, while you still can.”
i broke my toe last year, and it actually ended up kickstarting my fitness journey. i know breaking a bone is just a random accident and exercise wouldn't have prevented it, but part of me just realized how precious it was to be able to move freely and how one day, i could lose my mobility for real, permanently. it just sparked something in me that really stuck for once. so yeah, walk, while you still can
Good for you! I’ve been doing a 15 minute walk on my lunch break (so, Mon-Fri) for quite a while. I’ve been procrastinating adding a 30 min walk after work. Even though it’s Sunday, I started that today. I know I won’t be able to do it tomorrow because I’m taking my mom to an appointment, but I will be doing grocery shopping once I drop her off home after, so I’ll still get some steps in.
I started my journey with walking everyday over 7 years ago. I was about 100lbs overweight and was miserable. I’m only 5 feet tall and that was a ton of extra weight for someone my height. I was in my late 30s and had been overweight since I had my children and that was 15 years ago. So I started walking daily and loved it from the start. On top of walking every day I quit drinking all soda. Doing the two definitely helped and the weight started to fall off. Cut to 7 years later and I am still walking daily, was able to get a job that involves a ton of walking and now I’m up to 20 plus miles a day. I’m in better shape than I have been in two decades. My life has changed drastically from losing weight and staying active. I will never go back to the lazy person that I once was because it is so much better now and I feel great. Good luck to you!!
I taught English in Japan for a year when I was 20/21 years old. As a curvy Caucasian woman, it was terrible for my self esteem. I was actually in good shape for my body type, I was working out regularly. But, my body was so much bigger than the vast majority of Japanese women, and I could barely by clothes in Japan because the stores didn’t have sizes big enough for me. In the U.S. I was a common clothing size, but in Japan I was huge. Good job staying active!
My dog really helps me get out and walk. She knows what time it is and she doesn't let me slack. I love her so I don't want to let her down. Sometimes I can't do something for me, but I hate to disappoint a loved one. We don't always go far, but we get out every day.
After my gym closed, my dogs and I walked for an hour each morning and I lost 10 lbs. No big effort, just timed myself, walking can definitely be beneficial.
I met a lady online. We were both 56. She asked if I’d b her walking partner I said sure. We walked 2h every Tuesday & Thursday. She lost 100lbs in one year.
@@x-starlight-x I am very athletic I’m 63 and do pull ups everyday I’ve ridden my bicycle across the USA many times. But I also eat a lot of junk food. So I didn’t lose any weight.
I'm turning 69 in a few months, I decided this past January that I could possibly live beyond my family's average and perhaps healthier would be better. Almost 7 months later, and 30 lbs lighter, I'm getting ready to do a "mud run" with my daughter, her husband and my grandson in September. It is on my bucket list and I'm about ready. Like you have already learned, little steps make for great success. We've got this. Don't allow things to push you in the wrong direction. Hang in there, you're amazing and your determination is your strength. Just don't give up on you.
This journey was meant for you to help your mom and what you gain from it is irreplaceable. The time with your mom and helping her regain herself is amazing. Miss who’s not here but love who is still with you. Life is short let’s stretch it a bit more. Continue your journeys-you got this!
This is so inspiring. Your story and your mom's story was so affirmative. I am 60. Health problems, over weight, care giving challenges. I know better but resist change. Let's see if I can motive my self to stay around to see my grandkids grow up. You go girl! I am cheering for you and your mom!
This was wonderful, honestly. I reached that stage of hating myself at 42, so bam!.. gave up smoking, started walking. At 43 suffered angina and was told that if I hadn't taken those steps (ha!) then there would have been a nasty heart attack. Got stents and whole lotta 'tude and started walking hard and brisk ("Damn you, I'm not going to live in fear!") and on walking in to the local town and back (almost 10 miles each way) was like "WOW! I can do this!" (and like one of your commenters, was all emotional about it). It's transformational. You don't have to look instagram fit. Walking's a gift for everyone. As for motivation, I found the best thing to do was to get off the bus early (like.... 3 miles early) and walk in to work ("Well... I'm here now... no other choice. Gotta just get on with it") Truly a wonderful video and I love your down to earth style. New subscriber for sure!
Walking up all of those stairs have caused you to gain muscle which can make you gain weight. But losing weight isn’t always the end goal. Its about how you feel! Thank you for being raw, real, and so relatable ❤
A lot of people actually gain some weight when walking for example 10.000 steps per day. This is actually because they gain some muscle. When you look at their body composition, they still lost fat. You can see this because the weight will increase, but you're measurements will decrease. So looking at both weight and measurements could be helpful. :)
I’m so proud of you! I ran marathons for ten years and have been on hiatus for four years now, I plan to run one next year so I’m getting back into running. This video is so motivating. I know the challenge of not letting pain demotivate you. I think you’ll be successful in your training for the marathon because of your strong will, motivation, and realistic expectations. Keep it up 😊
I am in the exact same boat right now: 34 years old, at my heaviest (223lbs at 5'5"), and I barely do any hiking like I used to. I actually just prepped my food journal for the week and did decent grocery shopping with getting less junk food in mind.
That's amazing! I strive to be like you. In fact, more than fit Instagram models, people who inspire me are the ones that are older who take care of their health. That to me is so inspiring. You could probably lap me for days.
I really liked this video, listening about your obstacles, realistic approach and determination. Great job on completing the challenge and helping your mom and good luck on your journey. I have a similar road ahead.
_Hope you see this,_ *I've been watching UA-cam videos for God knows how many years but never have I relate so much with someone. My age, body structure and life style is EXACTLY as same as yours minus the job part cause I'm unemployed at the moment. But everything you said about your childhood is same as mine cause I'm also from South Asia and been butt of the joke my whole life for obesity, I'm just 50 pounds heavier than my BMI. But when you started talking about your mom i felt like crying cause my mom is also near 60 and spent her whole life managing our family and that left her with Osteo Arthritis on both knees and various nerve problems cause of heavy weight and wear&tear. And the way you helped your mom's weight loss and your own has gave me the push I badly needed to change. God helps I will change my life and my mom's too. That's the least I can do for all her sacrifices. Thank you so much for this video and good luck.*
Thank you for this video. I mirrored me 💯. I am going to start by just walking 15 minutes and work my way up to 1 hour. I needed this today. Thank you so much. Kudos to your mother.
Love the motivation quote. People seem to think it’s something that you have or don’t but it is created. I always say, if I’m hating it after 10 minutes I’ll turn around and go home. I’ve never turned around. If I can get out the door, I’m as good as done.
As humans we are so accustomed to talking about changes in our body as something purely visual, but just like you pointed out, the changes are also internal, going from feeling like hell at waking up to feeling more at ease and even reducing migraines, that IS change and we take it for granted so often. Thank you so much for such a good video.
Walking saved my life during covid, i got so out of shape i couldnt walk half a block. i knew it was a problem so i pushed through and now im doing great. nice video thanks for sharing.
Walking is awesome. I have kept to a routine of minimum 10k steps every day since last summer, often significantly more weather permitting as well as weight training. For the first time in my life I can actually see signs of abs! As a 44 year old guy I am fitter and healthier than when I was on the school football (soccer) team. There are times when I find myself lacking motivation due to persistently awful conditions outside. I am in the UK and the last year to18 months there has been so much rain that all the paths that aren't tarmac are pretty much impassable. It has been rare to see 2 days in a row where it hasn't been raining for most of the day. Even the summer was atrocious with low temperatures and constant torrential rain. I am surprised I haven't developed gills and webbed feet by now! It's been worth the effort though, I am down from 34" waist to 28" and the gamer gut is consigned to history.
I'm subscribing because you are the first "influencer" I gel with and your story about your Mum is inspiring. I'm 60 and because of a car accident and EDS I have all sorts of pain in joints and ligaments. One day I can feel great, but then I exercise too much and my body will have a full spasm for 3-4 days. But I need to lose weight and get stronger as that is the only thing that can help EDS. Your mum's health drive is inspiring, as is your own struggles. I think the thing fitness gurus forget, or never understood, is just how hard exercise is for the unfit. I still remember what it was like to be young and very fit, and it's NOTHING like I feel now! I also vibe with your mum and jumping for the first time in a while. Good for her, and you. 😂
I recognize myself so much in this. I just turned 50 a few days ago and have hEDS and it affects everything in your life, making everything a little harder, and the daily pain... You are so right about getting started with excercise and then getting sidelined from the pain it causes. It doesn't really get much more demotivating than that. Wishing you the best - here is to us getting moving and getting stronger!
@@denisea3465 Yes, it's a daily struggle, and I'm sad to tell you that it gets so much worse after menopause, so my best advice for you now is to do baby steps in strengthening, but every day. Don't do what I did, and retire, and then laze around for 4 months. It was the worst thing I could have done. I hope you get better every way you can. It's indeed a struggle but it's the only body we have so we have to do the best we can. Oh and, get HRT as soon as you can. If they won't give it to you find another doctor. I think it would have helped my symptoms a lot but it's too late for me now. Cheers!
I really appreciate this video! Seriously I'm 35 and over the past decade I've gained a lot of weight. I honestly doubled my body weight thanks to depression and binge eating. I know my body is not what I want it to be and like you said I've started feeling the effects of my weight. Thank you for being honest and real. Since the pandemic my life has become even more sedimentary which after working in libraries and computers I didn't know was possible until work from home became a thing for me. I have 2 and a half hours left in my work day today then I'm going to go get some shoes I can walk in and attempt my first 1 hour of walking today.
I used to be extremely active in my 20s. I have a college degree in dance and used to dance 6-8 hours a day then be a waitress on my feet running around at work in the evenings. Then life happened. I had kids. I got an office job. And my active life came to a screeching halt for the last 10 years. I am currently at 235 lbs, feel awful, my mental health is a mess, and I feel OLD and I’m only 34. I committed myself to walking at least an hour a day as often as I can (there’s literally days I just can’t cause of kids and schedules) but any other day, rain shine or heat, I’m walking. I’ve already lost weight (which that wasn’t my goal but a perk) but I’m starting to feel like myself again. I forgot how much I thrive on movement. It’s scary how easily the brain and the body can default to sedentary. And truly, the brain is the bigger battle. I’m proud of you. I’m proud of your mom. We all deserve better/more!
I love that you've been able to get your mom into walking and improving her health ! I have tried to get into a walking routine off and on for the last few years and just can't seem to stick with it. I am my own worst enemy because I make excuses... it's too cold, I'm too tired, I'm too busy etc. The part where you talk about how you just need to put your shoes on and go out the door. I am inspired.
I started walking at 59 yrs old and can see the improvement. In many parts of the world they have something called "Parkrun" where you run or walk 5 kilometres (just over 3 miles) every Saturday at 8 am (or sometimes 9am). There are a few of these in America. The regular nature of it keeps me motivated. After six months, I am getting fitter, faster and the weight is coming over slowly but naturally. Keep going!
Congratulations to you and your Mom for taking on the challenge! Talk about taking good care of yourselves! I've been trying to start a 30 minute walk also. There are so many studies now that show how walking 30 minutes a day can reverse all kinds of health issues. BTW, I'm 4'11" so I know that we shorter people often have trouble managing our weight. I put the home scale away and am better for it. I'm really interested to read the books you mentioned. You and your Mom have my support - 110%! Can't wait to hear more about your training for the marathon - GO GIRL!
I sympathize with you on your family. Every time i saw my family in south America i was made fun for my weight. My tiny mom married a 6ft white guy and made me, at my skinniest after puberty, 150lbs. Super active teenager but still called fat, from my mom and everyone 😅. I was gargantuan to my small south American cousins and they let me know about. Coupled with decades of ridicule and realizing ive had pcos since puberty, my weight got worse. Ive cycled through diet/exercise and giving up for years. Now im just going to try walking 2 miles everyday. When i was younger i loved walking and made a point of walking to get where im going since i couldn't drive. I love watching this, helps motivate me to keep on the journey ❤
Sometimes we just have to encourage ourselves! I don’t love it, but I make myself walk three miles a day and lift weights fives times a week. I’ve been doing it for three months. I haven’t lost a single pound, but I have gone down almost pant sizes and two blouse sizes, so it’s doing something. My doctors says my blood work is good, and thank God for being 63 my blood pressure is excellent. I’m grateful. But, this is my life now. I can’t go back to being overweight and unhealthy. You are a blessing to your mom! She’s doing great!
Muscle weighs more than fat but you will tone up and look smaller. Another great idea especially for wet days is rebounding. It is great exercise and is so much fun. Check out SanFran Rebiund Fitness videos on UA-cam. They do great tutorials.
I’m very happy for you! Keep moving that body! I am 86 years old and though I creak and lurch a lot at home, I get out and do a lot. Back when I had a dog, I walked at least a mile or two in the evening or morning. It gets boring sometimes so I wasn’t consistent until about 15 years ago when I bought a stationary bike at a rummage sale. This was primarily because I was pre diabetic. Every evening until the past couple of years, I would ride the bike for an hour after supper. I used that time to watch tv, call my sisters or read. I have never progressed beyond the prediabetic stage. I no longer ride every single night, but I do probably 4 times a week. You are on the right track. God bless you!
Thank you for your honest insight! I am 65 and was just able to retire. I'm 188 cm and 105 kgs and my back and joints are killing me due to being overweight. I need to get this under control so I can enjoy my retirement! Thank you for your work.
Wow I felt this because about a month ago I made a smaller commitment to my body after being overweight since my childhood/teens. As a month has passed I thought about committing to just 30mins of walking a day so that I would be moving more. This is giving me confidence to start doing that today, thank you!
You’re a good girl. Im happy for you and your mom. I recently recommitted to the walk-life and I decided to flood my UA-cam algorithm with walking vids. Your results may not show but I’m sure your physicality changed after 30 days, whether you see it or not. And the genuine happiness you had for your mother’s results, resonated with me. Great stuff
My mom was also sedentary for most of her life. Before she died at age 68 she said don’t do what I did. It took me a while but I am now able to do Pilates for an hour five times a week. I’m getting stronger every time. It’s about consistency and doing it to make sure you keep your mobility and strength. Aesthetic results don’t matter.
Came across you/this video for the first time today. It was very raw and open and no fluff and what I needed. At 35, I'm feeling what you feel/felt. I got choked up about your mom. It makes me want to just start right now. Thank you 💜
Thank you for this video! I got serious about my weight loss during the pandemic after suffering a herniated disc in my back and neck. 75 pounds down, last year I ran five 5ks in one year!! I am now training for my first 8k, to prep for an eventual 10k. Wishing you the most of luck! You can do it 🙌🏾
As an asian person who’s been overweight almost her whole life, this video is really amazing and inspirational, thank you. I’ve currently been walking at least 30 min a day but watching you makes me think I’m ready to start doing 1 hour!
You rock girl ! Im so proud of you, that way you're so serious about changing your habits and stopping being lazy and committing to a completly new schedule to make a change. Wish you would show a picture of yourself before and aftwr the walking month.❤️
Well today is my first day. It was hard to get out there but I did it. I'm 66 and I've put on quite a bit of weight 27 lbs☹️ but I'm going to try it. 💪🏾🙏🏽🤞🏽👍🏾👏🏽
So proud of you! Your story is inspirational. I’m also making some changes to my life habits for health reasons. I’ve only been walking and eating healthily for about 2 months, but I already feel so much better! Thank you for helping your mom and for sharing your story.
Walking in waist deep water helps relieve pressure on older knees. Here in America, many Wellness Centers have a circular shape water walking track. So true about exercise and weight loss...."You can't out exercise a poor diet." Going low carb, high fiber, OMAD at 1,200 calories has really helped my weight loss.
I love this! This is ME! You just motivated me to get back into walking everyday!!!!! Thank you so much! You go girl! I’m proud of you. Love from Colorado.
You don't automatically lose weight just because you started walking 10,000 steps every day for a month. If your maintenance calories are 2000, but your intake before walking was 3,000 calories and by walking 10,000 steps you'll burn approximately 700 calories, you'll still end up in a caloric surplus and you'll end up gaining weight.
Did similar. 7 years and counting still down 70 lbs give or take. Progress isn't linear and small changes mixed in is for the win. Scale isn't everything, your doctor's physical is 20% 80% is taking care of your mental needs
Omg you made me laugh! I am starting my weight loss journey at 59 years old! I am 5’1 in and 179.5 lbs. started intermittent fasting in March. Only down 7lbs. But lost many inches. Weight loss has stalled so I know I NEED to move more!
I randomly started running a year ago with no expectation. So far I’ve run 3 half-marathons and a few of 10 and 5k. I didn’t lose that much of the weight (like only 3kg-ish) but I feel like a totally different person from last year. I am so thankful that I actually pushed myself to do it and stick with it. Now running is a lifestyle for me and I feel weird if I don’t run. Good luck on your marathon training! I’m gonna run one too next year hopefully!
Really appreciated this. There are so many crazy transformation videos out there that proclaim vast changes from ridiculous challenges. Often by people who pretend to be a lot less fit than they really are. It's demotivating, even if you know it's not real and you don't have to compete with their results. This was much more positive and helpful.
I know exactly how you feel! i used to always exercise and see it as punishment but exercise should be to celebrate what your body can do & to find what you enjoy doing.. whether it’s walking, a sport etc it’s never easy to just do it.. but little things really count even if it’s 5 or 10 minutes a day either way you should be proud of yourself 😊🎉❤
This is an awesome video. I am so moved by your progress and your mom’s health improvements brought tears to my eyes. I am your mother’s age and struggling with pre-diabetes for years now that I haven’t made the changes needed to improve. It’s so hard to make time for myself. You have both totally inspired me!!! Please keep us posted on both of your healthy habits. Thank you🙏🏻🕊
I’m 50 and wished I had the desire and push a few years ago to lose weight that I’m at right now. Menopause was hell on me and still is along with long term trauma stress. Practice meditation, simple yoga, arm weights, and walking 8,000 steps has helped to feel in control of my life. Keep up the great work and you do what is good for you.
Thank you for taking the time to share your story. It's very inspiring. I'm 62 and understand how frustrating it is to deal with pain. I also have had to deal with weight issues since puberty. We all deal with different challenges in life. I appreciate you sharing how you managed to overcome obstacles with work, family, and finding time to exercise. Thanks for the encouragement! 😊
Thank you, Thank you for being so honest about your life...... you are without a doubt motivating me to start walking again; maybe like never before. I am in my early 70's and I've noticed my walking isn't as strong as it was 2.5 years ago. I love your encouragement and I will most definitely sooner than later give it a go. Thanks again for being who you are and sending you and your family lots of love❣
Walking for an hour everyday is amazing you feel better you do lose weight, you dont feel as hungry, and you get energy for the day, I used to to that 3 years ago and it was amazing, I stopped because of the pandamic, and then I had my kid and now I cannot go anywhere to do anything by myself but I want to start doing this again is amazing and free 👍👍
How fun it must be to be such an inspiration to so many. I am 65 with a real bad back and chronic pain so it has been a lot of the same kind of self talk you have done to try to get going again, at least what I can and you inspired me too, thanks. The smaller achievements even are so important, they push me forward and mostly, give me hope.
Everyone needs the 'I fucking hate myself' moment. It's the best motivation to get your ass in shape. Another motivation I like is embracing the punishment and being 'angry' at it. Like when I'm at the gym and the weights are feeling heavier than usual, like fuck you weights! Much like the marathon you're training for, so is losing weight and getting yourself in shape. Embrace the difficult because when you keep fighting it, it gets easier and you fucking love it. Subscribed to your channel, I look forward to seeing your journey.
I feel you on this. Sometimes when I'm feeling like I'm about to hit a wall on my run. I get 'angry' and use it as fuel to propel me. It's not real anger, but the feeling is aggressive. I may growl from time to time. Haha. I honestly live off the challenge though. I actually love that it's hard. The feeling of accomplishment I get after completeing a challenge gives me a rush of endorphins like no other.
@@KitZakimi For what it's worth from a stranger on the Internet, I'm heaps proud and it's nice hearing you grr and argh your way through the difficult too 😋 Sending energy from a gymrat in Australia. Chase the endorphin dragon! 🐲
Congratulations on your achievement. My Mom is 90. I wish she had been more active when she was younger. She can barely walk now. I knew I had to do something for myself with my sedentary IT job. I set a goal of 5000 steps a day. I have passed the one year mark and am closing in on 500 days in a row. At 63, that is a doable amount of steps.
This is one of the most motivating vlogs I’ve seen. No extra hype and telling it how it is. Reminded me to keep expectations realistic, and to keep on going. Thank you.
WOW!!!! Im impressed and very happy and excited for your mom! I'm happy for her and i hope she continues the walk and better eating for the rest of her life.
I also gained a lot of weight over the last 3 years, I too decided to do something about it. Strict keto, excerise. Including walking. Lost 45 pounds. I know how hard you worked.
Go get it. Weight loss is mostly about food so don't get discouraged. Walking is still incredible for heath by itself and gets a person ready for more intense exercise if they are interested. Food: - avoid trendy "extreme" diets. It's not necessary to cut out food groups like carbs, or meat. It can work for some people but is needlessly restrictive for most. Body builders and athletes who are the leanest people around usually follow a balanced diet. - watch Coach Greg's videos on diet if intetested and you will learn a lot.
Beating the “I don’t feel like it” feeling is the first step and the hardest
Walking was my miracle…an hour and 15 minutes 5 to 6 days .. and in 8 months I was down from size 18 😊to 12…
🎉🎉👏🏽👏🏽 Kudos to you!
No dietary changes?
The part about having improved your mom’s life made me tear up. You’re doing such an amazing job and I’m happy for you.
You know me. I got a soft spot for my mum.
Same here I teared up.
@@KitZakimi I'm happy for both you & your mother.

it was very touching. ❤
I am physically disabled and have chronic pain due to severe spine and joint problems. I could probably do 30 min a day without hurting myself. This was super inspirational. I'm gonna try. I could even do it in my backyard while listening to an audio book that way I can yell if I hurt myself and get help easily.
Yes! I walked around my small room for 20 minutes back and forth sometimes just to get some movements (cos I live in a very hot climate)
I got one for a few bucks, the screen was broken etc, but it worked. it was a lifesaver as I couldnt walk without holding on to something (severe balance problems) it really does help, especially if you dont feel like putting on presentable clothes to go out 😅
SWIM!!!!!!!!!!!
Her videos are amazing!
That’s how I lost my first twenty!!
@@treluvstrees999 Congratuations, that is wonderful!!!!!
I walked when it was cold. The weight came off. I rode my bike when it was warm. I lost my mom at 54 to obesity. She was close to 400 pounds. That's what keeps me motivated to stay in shape.
I’m so sorry 😢 for your loss and wish you all the best and peace ☮️.
She wasn't the nicest person. She's been gone for many years.
I started walking last October, I was 280lbs ,I'm at 205lbs right now, I feel alot better and I'll continue to walk every day.I'm 52,5 feet tall.
Wow! That’s awesome! Were you on a specific diet as well?
Damn 52 ft tall? You are malnourished at 280lb at that height 😂
That really resonates
Omg, I feel you 100% on this. Congratulations!
Yes! Let's go! ❤
@@briannab5296 I'm glad you're through that and are doing so well, but why were you starving for two months post-surgery?
I am 63, I have been doing the carnivore diet for almost 7 months, I am down 35 kg and have more energy than I have ever had.. all the inflammation in my joints is gone, blood sugar perfect, no more gastrointestinal issues, no bloating, cholesterol is excellent..low triglicerides.. it reverses type 2 diabetes in a month.. it's fantastic.. think about it.. you will never feel better.. lots of vids on youtube
This is the motivation I needed. Used to do really high intensity workouts with weights and HIIT cardio about 2 years ago. I was in great shape
And now after gaining so much weight, I tried to go back to those same workouts but my stamina and my heavy body wouldn’t let me enjoy them. So i gave up
But now I understand that i can always start with a simple walk and work my way up from there
Thank you for sharing this!🎉
You know what, it's just one foot in front of the other.
Rebounding is also very good as it's gentle on your joints. SanFran Rebound Fitness here on YT has great tutorials for beginners.
My dad will be 70 this year and he walks multiple times daily - he’s in the best shape I’ve ever seen him in!
How your eating 🍽 is important tto
Use it or lose it!
i broke my toe last year, and it actually ended up kickstarting my fitness journey. i know breaking a bone is just a random accident and exercise wouldn't have prevented it, but part of me just realized how precious it was to be able to move freely and how one day, i could lose my mobility for real, permanently. it just sparked something in me that really stuck for once. so yeah, walk, while you still can
Good for you!
Love this! Hope you and your pup are doing well!
After my gym closed, my dogs and I walked for an hour each morning and I lost 10 lbs. No big effort, just timed myself, walking can definitely be beneficial.
Nice! Did you mostly do uphill walking or just walking daily on mostly flat land?
Do you mean 1 hr to go and come back?
So FREAKING PROUD of you and your Mom!!!! LOVE YOU for this encouragement! May all your future endeavors be blessed! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m 50, 275 lbs and I’m embarking on a new workout routine. I’m excited and nervous; I need the mental clarity and physical benefits.

I am cheering for you and your mom!
love your video! in the end I lost all my 45kg that were ‚too much‘ due to fact I decided to get up and WALK. It is the most underrated thing to do…
This was wonderful, honestly.
Gotta just get on with it")
Truly a wonderful video and I love your down to earth style. New subscriber for sure!
Walking up all of those stairs have caused you to gain muscle which can make you gain weight. But losing weight isn’t always the end goal. Its about how you feel! Thank you for being raw, real, and so relatable ❤
Yes, muscle weighs more than fat so there will be a delay at least on the loss, good point.
I'm 64 and walk 12kms per day,every day ,no problem,5ft 10ins and 63kgs
That's amazing! I strive to be like you. In fact, more than fit Instagram models, people who inspire me are the ones that are older who take care of their health. That to me is so inspiring. You could probably lap me for days.
I really liked this video, listening about your obstacles, realistic approach and determination. Great job on completing the challenge and helping your mom and good luck on your journey. I have a similar road ahead.
You can do it!
_Hope you see this,_
*I've been watching UA-cam videos for God knows how many years but never have I relate so much with someone.
Yesssss
First step is half the battle
Not enough credit goes into walking. I'm glad that the benefits of walking is becoming more wildly discussed.
Just moving more is good for your body, regardless of what differences you see. I applaud the effort of you and your family!
@@jmk1962 , yes. It’s also supposed to be good for the lymphatic system. Thank you for the info.
For all the years you worked hard for others, I hope in retirement you can take the time to focus on yourself. You deserve it!
Been there, done that, understand your pain. You're doing great! Keep it up.
This was a great video! Thank you! The comments are also very inspiring. Today is day 1 of my walking journey!
So true about exercise and weight loss...."You can't out exercise a poor diet."
Going low carb, high fiber, OMAD at 1,200 calories has really helped my weight loss.
As soon as you mentioned your mom I subscribed. Make videos with your mother, will help more people. Good luck on your journey
Omg you made me laugh! I am starting my weight loss journey at 59 years old! I am 5’1 in and 179.5 lbs. started intermittent fasting in March. Only down 7lbs. But lost many inches. Weight loss has stalled so I know I NEED to move more!
Considering intermittent fasting . What hours do you fast ?
Try extending your hours. Consider a longer fast.
You didn’t ask me but 20:4 is my jam. I occasionally do a 36 or 40 hour fast. I also walk 10,000 plus steps a day.
You and Your mom are such a brave ones, well done! I wish You both the best.
Thank you so much for this. I needed to hear all of that. I love how real and honest you were in the video. Very relatable.
I don’t hate myself. Hate what I’ve done or didn’t do to myself. You are inspiring me. I’m a tall & fat Asian too!
I know exactly how you feel! i used to always exercise and see it as punishment but exercise should be to celebrate what your body can do
& to find what you enjoy doing.. whether it’s walking, a sport etc it’s never easy to just do it.. but little things really count even if it’s 5 or 10 minutes a day either way you should be proud of yourself 😊🎉❤
I can’t wait to see the next update!! Please don’t leave us hanging!
Good job taking care of Mom; you an excellent daughter! Take good care of yourself.
I’ll subscribe and respect to you for changing your life at 34. I’m not 34 yet but I think changing your life at 34 is hard
Thank you! This was motivating and I really like the realistic approach. I’m starting today. Here we go!
You are a fantastic storyteller! I hope you're still doing well. The ending about your mum was incredibly touching. I hope she's also doing well.
Wow so proud of your mum for doing at her age ! Well done to her and well done to you for all the encouragement and support
@@KitZakimi For what it's worth from a stranger on the Internet, I'm heaps proud and it's nice hearing you grr and argh your way through the difficult too 😋
Sending energy from a gymrat in Australia.
Wonderful inspirational video Thanks for sharing your experience 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is one of the most motivating vlogs I’ve seen. No extra hype and telling it how it is. Reminded me to keep expectations realistic, and to keep on going. Thank you.
WOW!!!! Im impressed and very happy and excited for your mom! I'm happy for her and i hope she continues the walk and better eating for the rest of her life.
She's a beast! Been keeping it up, plus has now added light jogging and step climbing to her routine.
I am all choked up. Congratulations on doing this for yourself. I am too...at 51...and this was super helpful to me.
Food:
- avoid trendy "extreme" diets. It's not necessary to cut out food groups like carbs, or meat. It can work for some people but is needlessly restrictive for most. Body builders and athletes who are the leanest people around usually follow a balanced diet.
- watch Coach Greg's videos on diet if intetested and you will learn a lot.
