I’ve been walking 4 miles a day for about five weeks now since then pandemic started. Walking plus going on a low carb diet, I went from 366 to 326. Hoping to reach my 300 short term goal soon. Stay active people. Bless. Edit: Thanks for all the likes and comments. I reached my goal on July 2 so it took a little over 3 months to drop 65 pounds. Next, I’m to see how much more I can drop by the end of the year.
Roxanne M. Thanks. I started intermediate fasting about a week into my diet. It definitely helps. Luckily I’m not a breakfast person so the fasting has been easy.
This video doesn’t stress enough the mental boost gained from walking. I swear no matter what is happening in my life I always look forward to my daily walk, it always calms me. Plus, it’s just fun!
It really does help. I lost 130 pounds just from walking and eating better. I'm down 167 pounds now but I've started weight training also. I was at 467 pounds a year and 8 months ago. I'm at 300 now and still dropping.
amazing bro. makes me feel weird having gotten close to 200 pounds and feeling really unhealthy and a decent bit overweight now trying to get back to like closer to 160ish. keep it up!
sweet, just walked 12 miles in 5 days, eating one meal a day, not counting calories nor checking my weight, and I feel a whole lot better, still a long way to go, I just have to keep at it, one mile a day is mandatory, the rest is just bonus
On June 1, 2019 I weighed 272 lbs. I am 5' 8" tall so I was basically obese. I started walking daily starting out at 1 mile a day 5 days a week. I have increased my distance to 4 miles a day minimum 5 days a week ( I also ride my bike several miles per week) On May 11, 2020 I am down to 230 lbs. so I have lost 42 lbs. I have also drastically changed my diet. Cut back on sweets, fried foods and processed sugars. I eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. No canned food or packaged food. I do cheat on occasion but for the most part stick to my regimen. I want to lose at least 30 more pounds and I am in no hurry. Better to lose the weight gradually. I am 70 years old and I haven't felt this good in probably 40 years. A good rule is If it grows on a plant- eat it. If it grows in a plant( factory) -don't eat it.
Congrats Jerry - I gained a lot of weight after some injuries and surgeries. The doctors had me on Oxy and Soma and I turned to mush. I finally kicked the meds, stopped feeling sorry for my self and get out 2-3 times a day for 1-2 mile walks (I couldn't walk 1/4th mile January 2020) I take yoga classes as well (to help with the injuries). I can walk 3 miles now - with no issues. Walking is great for people who have had spinal injuries, and I always feel great after a walk. Water is also key. Keep at it- life is good.
@@jduff59 - Good for you Gringo. I am impressed. If you have access to a swimming pool-preferably an Olympic size one- walking in the water is a great form of exercise. And it is so much easier on your joints. To further my story I had Covid-19 the entire month of December 2020. Doctors didn't expect me to survive. But here it is July 2021 and I have never felt better. Had to learn to walk all over again and am back up to 4 miles day. Also down to 210 lbs.
@@jerrybrownell3633 Great news! Now go from regular walking speed to brisk walking speed...it's still mild on your joints and will burn even more calories...keep up the good work!
I'm a 30-60 minute, 3 times a week walker and I've seen so many benefits besides maintaining my weight loss. I've noticed that my hair and nails grow faster. I heal faster when I get a minor cut or scrape. I have rosy cheeks, even though I'm African-American (go figure). Also, I used to catch the flu or the common cold ALOT, but since I started walking, I feel myself coming down with something, but the illness never takes hold, so to speak. Walking helps fight my insomnia. And even though I'm a HUGE introvert, walking gets me out of the house and around people, even though I don't talk to those people when I'm out there. My biggest positive is how well walking helps me fight off severe depression. The depression monkey still jumps on my back every once in a while, but in the past I used to stay in the bed and wait for it to get bored and leave. Now that I'm a walker, I find that I can do small things while depressed, like clean my house, run errands, read a novel, write, WALK! You know, tasks that don't require too much brain-power. Walking 30 minutes 1 to 3 times a week has really changed my life.
Are you me?! I've been walking daily to a goal for a few weeks and already feeling a lot more muscle in my legs and all the benefits you mentioned even down to being an introvert and keeping the depression at bay! Things truly felt sustainable once I realized even if my anxiety is too bad that day I can just walk inside. My local park is great because everyone is there doing their own thing. Everyone is friendly and no one cares what you're wearing or if you're doing something "weird" or different.
@@charcoalanderson8010 I pray your depression remains at bay. Thanks for your comment. Jesus loves you. Grateful to see the results. I was inspired to walk listening to the comments here even more. I had considered it and had started by walking inside when I decided to just start by doing it inside being that walking outside can be difficult to schedule at times for me. The boost from the comments has me raring to go! I picked 34 extra pounds to an already obese frame and was like woah!, decisions have to be made. You're worth it! We all are. So, I have decided to add just listening to the accounts of others as I move to keep me going.😅
I had something similar happen to me Ray. Not a Stroke, but thought I was going to have a Stroke. Went to the Hospital for High Pressure. I have started Walking almost like you, 40-45min in the Mornings. In 3 Weeks, have lost about 12lbs (along with a Healthier Diet) Good luck to you 👍
@@abrahanromero9741 Hi Abrahan sorry to hear about your health issue, such a shame it takes something like that to get you out doing something. But well done glad your on the mend. Its hearing things like that keeps me going even when i dont feel like it. So thank you for your comment and best of luck to you.
Younger me: "Walking? What a waste of time and energy. Boring." Me now, after work, politics, toxic people, and countless losses in life: "Walking? LOVE IT."
It works! I have lost 50 pounds in 6 months by walking and using a 500 to 1000 calorie deficiency a day. My blood pressure is back to normal and I still have another 20 pounds to reach my ideal weight. It is worth it especially if you are unable to do any strenuous activities.
if walking is beneficial to slim people, imagine what it can do to overweight or obese ! The higher ur BMI is, the more calories u burn walking. There is no excuse to die on a sofa, move ur @sses.
I was looking at the comments and I am going to start walking ever day for 30 minutes today is 08/28/2020 I will give y’all and update edit: it working I have been walking for a month and one day and I have lost over 30 pounds
Best thing about walking as an exercise is you don't have to worry about proper form. Just walk and daydream. If I lived someplace like Paris I would weigh about 80 pounds.
I had had a dr appointment early April for my yearly physical , although very overweight everything came back perfect , blood pressure , cholesterol you name it, so I said to myself “ i want my future physicals to come back like this , but they probably won’t if I keep gaining weight “ I don’t drive so I was already pretty used to walking ! Plus I’m a nanny and the baby I take care of is at least a 15 min walk in the morning to his house , then I take him out for the day to the other end of town , then walk him home again , then I walk myself home the end of the night lol I asked my friend if she’d like to start walking the local track with me at night which is down the street from the baby , so I’m then walking back down the other end of town again to walk the track for an hour THEN! Walking back home AGAIN! Haha but I love it now it’s routine ! And lost weight!!😁😁
Tim...lol . My walking started by walking to McDonalds every other morning ( 6km total ) in the mornings but only had a coffee . ( ok...a muffin occasionally ).
hahaha....you mean what the majority of the world uses ? I live in Canada and we switched to metric in the 70's . I still think in feet and inches but our road signs are in km's so it is easier to use that unit of measure . Young people here only know the metric . What Americans ( easy to assume that is what you are ) don't know is you already use metric . Calculators only work with metric numbers as does yours and my monetary system . There are no 3 , 4 , 6 , 7 , 8 or 9 dollar bills or coins . It is a better system but being an old fart I still think in both units depending on what measure I am using . Temperature is so much easier as water freezes at 0 and boils at 100 . easy ! The oddest thing up here is sheets of plywood are still sold as 4' x 8' ( because that is impossible to change ) but the thickness is in mm . ( millimeters )
Cutting sugar and simple carbs is big. Substituting brown rice and sweet potatoes for white rice and regular potatoes is helpful. As is increasing protein and replacing bread with things like quinoa or orzo. Find a low salt, no sugar spice and learn to love cruciferous vegetables and salad. I started only able to do 20 dual leg lifts in a 15 minute core workout. Now I start my 25 minute core workout with 30 and end with 30. Keep pushing what you can do. If you're walking, try and add more distance, or increase your speed. If you lift weights, try pushing yourself every few weeks. It's important not to plateau, and if you reach a goal, set a new one.
so many important things are only being taught on the internet leaving us with easily manipulated, dumb people :/ (thinking of my classmates while writing this...)
PE teachers especially when they're supposed to be encouraging kids to move more and in more efficient ways yet i keep remembering shit like being made to endurance run infinite laps for whole hours and getting yelled at+losing points off our grades if we just walked instead of running or even stopped in exhaustion or joint pain smh
I’m here because I used to run and work out daily, but I have chronic joint pain now especially in my legs and feet, so I’m trying to see if I can start getting back in shape by walking, since anything else hurts too much right now.
Finally someone I can believe in and relate to in my situation! I'm 260 lbs, out of breath and in very bad shape. Started walking a week ago with a 10 minutes walk, feeling absolutely out of breath afterwards. I have increased with 5 minutes every day, yesterday was 30 minutes and breathing fairly comfortable. Will continue until I walk 60 minutes and then start increasing speed. Need to give myself a slow start! I'm also doing some weight training for my upper body. Will have a weigh-in by the end of each month, hoping to lose some kilos and gain strength! Will adapt and follow your advices! Thank you so much for giving me hope, inspiration and support! Now a sub!
This is what happens when you do any kind of endurance training. whether it be walking or biking. If biking long distances it helps to bring gels or energy bars and eat one about every 20-30 minutes if you are biking or walking a very long distance. This helps you stay out of the red and keeps you from zonking out and it also helps to stave off that temptation to gorge on food soon after the workout is over.
I started walking 18 months ago. I walk 1 hour, 5 times a week. I use an 7.5 incline if walking on treadmill (instead of outside). Without changing my diet, I've lost 13 pounds by just walking. I only have 7 more to go. I know it's coming off slowly (I just hit menapause) but I feel so much better about myself. I have so much more energy and my body is really toning up.
If you're avoiding weights for fear of 'bulking up', don't. Muscle does weigh more than fat, but only due to it's density. Adding weights, even 5lb dumbbells, is extremely helpful for building lean muscle. It's easier for women to burn fat this way, due to the differences in how we store fat. Just something to consider, good luck with your fitness journey Stacy!
Actually walking is pretty good.. My father just tried to walk for 30 mins to 1 hour every day and have warm water.. With normal indian food... He lost around 15 kgs.
Walk FAST to really get these benefits. I walk as fast as I can for 2 miles and that helped me lose 50 lbs Walking is a very muscular exercise, if you do it correctly.
Most ppl use walking to lose weight i love to walk cause you feel healthier happier u attract overall good health & it lowers high blood pressure & cholesterol may god bless us please send more positive feedback ppl 🙏💛💚
I lost 25 pounds in 2 months walking from work, about 50 minutes, and keeping a moderate diet (with occasional cheats). I LOVED it. I hate hard exercises but I loved just putting on my headphones and de-stressing after work with my walk. It's really great for stress relief too. It's also really good long term for not quittingbecause it's not so intensive as other stuff.
Yeah people truly make exercise so difficult I am in my 4th week along with weight training and squats, and I feel so much better appreciation of my self-esteem
I have been walking 3-6 miles a day since the pandemic started. It keeps me sane, keeps me socially distanced, and I have loss 35 lbs on my 5’2” frame. Walking also motivates me to eat healthier since I can see the results. I abhor high intensity exercises but enjoy walking.
Also fasted walking is even more effective. I take a 45 minute to an hour walk every morning. Ever since I started doing fasted walks (or just walks in general) the fat was just melting off. Obviously combined with a good diet and resistance training. Edit: Also I forgot to mention I also utilize intermittent fasting
I lived in San Francisco for a while...that city HATES cars so I'd regularly walk to work or to hang out with friends. When I first moved there I weighed almost 350 pounds...the walking combined with accidentally discovering Intermittent Fasting lead to me losing about 50 pounds over the course of a few years. I added in kettlebells and dropped another 20. Then I started going deep on Fasting, adding Protein Supplements, strength training, HIIT and resistance bands...I lost a total of 100 pounds then gained about 15 pounds of muscle. The changes my body has undergone are just mindbending....and it all started with walking.
Those SF hills helped a lot I bet...I was there a week ago and walked up a couple streets with a hills my entire back was sweating and I was out of breath lol That entire city is a gym lol
@Damian A You are an asshole. Apparently your mother never taught you an manners. You are much more of a pig than a 350lb man, who carries himself like a man.
I dropped 60 lbs in less than 3 months and that was over the holidays; just by power walking 1 hour per day and eating an average of 1500 LOW CARB calories a day. I’m addition to loosing weight I killed Diabetes, and brought my cholesterol and A1C level back into the lower normal range.
I moved to a new school so i had been walking to it everyday (exept the weekend ) and i can tell u that i went from a pear 🍐 to a very slim girl , but it took me around 10months , and i used to walk about 2hours a day , noting that i haven t taken any diet or something but instead i used to eat a lot ( thinking that i need more food because i make a lot of efforts) just put in mind that u will burn everything, and by experience, u will start to eat less without noticing
My parents and I recently went trekking in the Himalayas. Our destination was at 15,200 feet. My father was walking past everyone else on the way at his steady speed. He remained a sportsperson in his youth and walks over 10 km everyday. By the end of the trek, he was a magnet for everyone and earned lots and lots of fans. Many of them came up to him and said he walked so well for someone who must be in his 50s. He's actually 74❤
Your videos are so well thought out, educational, and not condescending at all. I can't tell you the benefits your channel has given me over the last 9 months, but for lack of better words: you're saving my life.
I walk around my apartment complex 4-6X a week. When I started out, I could barely get around once - and even then it caused me pain in my knees and hips. After 12 weeks of modifying my diet (Keto/IF) I can now race around the complex 4X in forty minutes - and no pain in my joints! I'm 61, 6' tall and diabetic (formerly?). I've dropped 36lbs in 12 weeks! Another 124lbs to go. If I can do this anyone can!
@@jc4evur661 Thanks, and your right, i now do OMAD, lite cardio (and recently hired a personal trainer and started lifting again!), and supplementation. as of this morning I've lost 103lbs! Somewhere between 9- 59lbs to go!
@nyladennis2419 my situation changed a lot over the last fifteen months, and the changes overwhelmed me. I succumbed to family pressure and turned back to food for comfort. I put a lot, but not all, of it back on. I'm gathering my "Chi" to make another run at it. Blood work is still good, not great like it use to be when I was at my peak, but still better than 04/2021 when I started my wellness journey. I have an appointment with a nutritionist next week, I expect to catch flack for returning to keto again, but I know it works for me, so I will not waver. Also, I will be setting more realistic goals this time; instead of trying to get down to my Military days weight (185lbs), I'll be going for my honeymoon weight (225lbs). I noticed female friends' eyebrows raised when I got under 260 lbs - lol! Honestly, I'd be happy to get under 250lbs. I didn't look like a superhero, but I sure felt like one; unlimited energy, great sleep, no aches or pains in my joints, mental clarity, no mood swings, no gas, great and easy to clean up after BMs.....life is just better when your in ketosis! Thanks for asking, take care.
Thanks for your wisdom. A few years ago my doctor said if I weigh over 200 pounds I could get diabetes since I am the only one in my family who never got it. Now at 197 pounds I find myself walking around the park for about an hour a day. Been doing it for about 2 weeks now and even though I haven't lost much weight, 2 to 3 pounds, but my gut seems a bit more toned. Hoping to keep it up so I can get to my ideal weight of 175 to 180 pounds. When I was young I used to be a cross country runner and ran for at least 2 times every morning after I woke up. Don't know if I'll be able to do that again, but at least I know walking will help me get to my goal. Thanks again for reinforcing my thoughts that walking will help me lose weight. PS Oh as I walk I also do isometric exercises that I used to do when I was young taking martial arts. I think it helps tone me.
I've lost over 80 pounds since January 1st, 2020. So far I have taken my BMI from 42.1 to 29.2. Walking is low impact and I have cervical stenosis so I need something that doesn't kill my neck. It still hurts but it's better than it was. Update: 8/28/20 I've now lost 94 pounds and my BMI sets at 26.0. I've also been able to double the miles I walk per day.
@@tiffanyweems912 I walk 7 days a week 8 miles per day. I walk 5 miles in the morning before breakfast and 3 miles in the evening before dinner. I do it rain or shine. Once winter sets in I will probably buy a treadmill but I will still do most of my walking outside.
That’s amazing! Congrats and best of luck as you continue on your journey. I started my journey on July 23 2020 and I have lost 17 by walking and lowering my calories. Your post confirmed my thoughts about walking. Thanks
I’m 64, with Emphysema. I walk an hour six days a week, plus a half hour on the elliptical. Burning about 33-3500 calories a day. My Pulmonologist asked me to speak to his patients. Trust me, if you have COPD, exercise while it is really hard at first will help your condition immeasurably.
no, absolutely not. medium intensity is perfect to fuck up the body real good. 4 days low intensity, 1 day very high intensity, 1 day lazy, never !!!! medium intensity
I went from a 42 to a 36 pant size 3 months after walking/ trotting/ running (some mornings I was running late) 30 minutes to work and 30 minutes home every day in the summer of 2006
My New Years Resolution was to get more exercise so I started walking and now I am up to 5-6 miles a day - 7 days a week. It takes me about 80 minutes and I wear my Fitbit and put on my headphones and simply get into the music as I walk. Walking is also a great way to clear your mind of worries and sort thru stressful issues.
I started walking in addition to my regular exercise routine and I really enjoy it so far. Its super easy to do even when I'm feeling super lazy- i tell myself it's the least i can do today.
Walking is actually a peaceful exercise and good for the heart and mind... high impact and gym work is a stress to the body and can be detrimental... Great vid as always.
Walking cannot replace exercising or even yoga or stretching.they all have their own benefits. Walking is what I call easy cardio or when your injured cardio . Rest it cannot replace the health benefits exercise offers .
very high intensity - if done the right way is a very healthy way to complement things. 2-3 intervals of sprinting on a bike full out (less than a minute) once a week is already enough. could be done max. 3 times a week. but walking has a magic benefit that seems to be the most important here and this is lowering cortisol, especially the following days. HIIT can be used to compliment things
I started walking 3 months ago. I’m 54 and weighed 189. I now weigh 175 and I’m still losing weight! I started walking 2 to 4 miles and I increased it to 5 to 6 miles, now I’m at 8 miles a day! Some days I’m exhausted so I’ll do 5 or 6, but my goal is just to keep moving
Thank you Max! The vid is very encouraging. 13 years ago I was in the best shape of my life at age 35. Was 165lbs at one point. I was doing kettlebells 6-7 days a week. I got injured and a bunch of other things happened and I stopped exercising. I was at 240lbs, made some diet changes and am at 225lbs now. I became super pissed about the shape I am in, and found it absolutely unacceptable. On May 19th, I woke up still pissed, and walked 8733 steps, which was 122% of the goal on my phone app of 7138 steps. I thought I was gonna die. I've only missed 2 days of walking since then. I'm trying time restricted eating and shooting for around 2500 calories a day. I don't drink booze, and know what it takes to get to my goal of 170ish lbs. I'm still hovering at around 225lbs. I know I need better sleep. I'm also looking into zinc supplements to help with testosterone levels, which at 48, are likely low. Change takes time. I bought a t-shirt I've wanted for 2 years a size too smal that I hang from my bedroom doorframe to motivate me so I'll fit into it soon. My goal is to watch at least one of your vids every day along with everything else I'm doing. Thanks again for the motivation!
I am now walking now for exact 105 days every day 15 - 30.000 steps since i lost my job. I lost 13kg or 28lbs and i am pretty happy with it :) i dont eat clean or so. Just eating what i crave and walk everyday. It works perfectly splendid
There are videos out there saying that running is no good or walking is ineffective and trying to promote a specific type of workout. But this video has given us the truth. Thank you for the wonderful video.
All I did was walk when I was younger and i was teeny tiny. Recently put on weight, started walking about 2 weeks ago, eating a bit better and calorie counting and lost about 4-5 lbs last month(in February). Edit: also watching this as I'm going on my hour walk and trying 1,200 calories a day temporarily to kick bad habits
I walk fasted every morning for at least thirty minutes. It’s amazing what happened to my body by simply using up the glycogen my body stored overnight before putting more into it. I paid a personal trainer $350 for six lessons and quit after 3. The advice he gave me about fasted cardio was worth every penny. I do also eat right and do resistance training at home but the key was the fasted cardio. And like he told me, “You don’t have to go fast, you just have to go.”
This video and comments has inspired me to start walking. My knees hips hurt and i weight about 245 and i am only 5 ft tall. Too much weight i have a treadmill and i use to workout every day was going to the gym. Its time to MOVE again. Walking is a life saver..peqce annd blessings
My job requires me to walk at least 10 hours a day. It's crazy how simple I lost weight without realizing it until co-worker have noticed lol. I also diet and exercise so it contributed to me losing 35 lbs in 3 months.
I started walking 6 km a day (sometimes 10) four weeks ago. I lost 12 kg (from 91 to 79) I discovered this channel few weeks ago, and I am surprised I did the right thing, but now I have to switch to another form of exercise to get better results. thank you for the channel.
Dieting has never made much impact on my weight, but exercise always has. I have been doing 10,000 steps every day for a month and I'm feeling slimmer and my clothes are getting loose to the point they're not touching my body in a lot of places that they used to fit snugly. The first week is hard; things that shouldn't hurt do and you're tired. But after that, I stopped hurting and gradually started to feel better. Now I feel good because I feel more fit and when I do hard labor on the weekends in my yard, I am barely sore afterwards (and I walk that out pretty quickly). So commit yourself to a month of walking. By the end of the month, you'll feel so much better and see so much improvement, you'll be eager to continue; it will no longer feel like a chore. It's getting over that first week or two that's hard.
for me it was like even if it was 10pm at night if i still hadnt done 1 hour of walking that day then i would go on a night walk, you have to no matter what get yourself to go every day. daytime is better cos sunlight but if for some reason you havent had a chance to go from being busy or whatever then as soon as you have a chance go. it really helps to build the habit just ensuring you go no matter what time. keep it up.
Totally agree there-when I got back into walking after years of failed attempts of other exercises my first walk of 7500 steps....damn it my whole body was on fire! Currently on week two and up to 10,000 steps 3 times a week with some strength on alternating days!

I was 215 lbs. All I did was walk 2x 30 min walks a day and stopped eating bread ,rice and pasta. 1 month in I'm 195 . I feel amazing and now when I'm on my boat I can take off my shirt guilt free. I need to lose 10 more Lbs but I don't see me stopping this routine. Easy
Just start making it as a routine last week.. Within a week i lost 5kg. Been walking for at least 5km in the morning and 2 km in the evening. I feel great now. Hopefully i can motivate myself to keep doing this everyday. Thank a lot
I've been walking 45-60 minutes every day for years, i love it, i feel great, fit, lean, strong, loads of energy, clear and sharp mind, and feel half my age of 55.
I'm 24 years old. I have been walking on a regular basis for 45 minutes since last month. When I started, my waistline was 28 inches. Now my waistline is 26.7 inches. I eat everything but I eat less. I try to eat not more than 1500 calories each day. I also incorporate a 10 minutes ab workout. Walking every day really helps.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic caused my gym to close I walk 4.5 mi per day. I know it doesn't take the place of of my full workout. But in the three full months away from the gym, I've maintained my exact weight I had attained from working out. I don't diet, but I do try to eat healthy and in moderation. Walking gets me out of the house in a safe manner during these crazy times. Stay safe people!!
@@johanfagerstromjarlenfors Actually Johan I'm up to 6 miles a day currently. It takes about one hour and fifty minutes. I will stop there at that distance. I didn't have a distance goal in mind when I started. Just trying to do my part to remain healthy until I feel safe about going back to the gym. If the weather doesn't permit me to go outside, I do five miles on the treadmill. I'm talking about "power walking". Not out strolling looking at the birds. Lol!
@@LA-db9xj Well you are obviously lying.... A goof pace for a power walk isn’t even as much as 10km/h... and at 10km/h it takes 6 hours to come 6 miles. Most people don’t run a marathon distance in under 3 hours and a maraton is about 4.0-4.3 miles.... for most people it takes about 45-60 minutes to run ONE mile. Typed in distance between liverpool and manchester and that is about 5.6 miles and google calculates that it takes 11 hours to walk and about 50-60 minutes to drive... 3 hours with bicycle.
I walk a mile on average around 16 minutes and 40 seconds. Do the math Johan! Depending on how I catch the traffic lights on my route, it'll take me up to the 1 hour and 50 minute mark. You can believe it or not sir. Stay safe!
@@LA-db9xj If you walk a mile in 16 minutes you must have a speed of about 40km/h and that’s almost the same as class 1 mopeds... and it is a lot faster than a class 2 moped... 10kmh faster than what is legal speed to drive past schools... normal walking speed is under 10kmh and then it takes 6 hours to walk 6 miles.
Due to my knee and back conditions I can't exercise with high intensity workouts sadly so walking is a great form of exercise for me. I walk at least an hour every other day and when my knees are strong enough I walk every day. It's great for mental health as well. Especially during lockdown
The heavier you are, the more calories you burn over distance. It is magic. When I started, I could easily burn over 400 calories in an hour. Now, I'm down to closer to 300 and going a faster pace! I find it to be incredibly motivating when you're at your biggest to remember that simple walking will provide the greatest gains it ever has.
I completely agree with this video. As on Jan 1, 2020 I weighed 376 lbs. today I am 342. I do 10,000 steps per day which is just under 5miles. I do 95% of my walking inside my own house. I just walk circles from my office to my kitchen and around my living room. It can be done without any real cost and as convenient as I can make it. I listen to my audiobooks while I do it and that keeps my mind preoccupied. Many times the books keep me walking even after my goal for the day is met. In full transparency, I also used the internet to figure out my BMI (body mass index) and BMR (basal metabolic rate) to help determine the calories I should shoot for each day in order to hit my goal over 12 months. To be suggessful at that I also meal prep which really helps me stay on track. I’m not starving myself or eating crazy vegetarian dishes, just thinks I like that fit into the calories I can have. So far so good. I am shooting for 50lbs by day 100. I swear I don’t feel I am dieting. I am simply making sure my calories burned is more than my calories taken in. I am averaging about a half pound a day weight loss. You can do it!
I'm a 77 y/o Greek-American retiree living on a paradisical Greek island in the middle of the Aegean Sea. I believe my love for walking comes from when I was in my teens growing up in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio and an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and all the weekend hikes we used to take. Here on my island I still walk today and everyday in the foothills of the mountains behind my home. My daily hike is about ten kilometers (6.2 miles) and, at a leisurely pace, takes me about an hour and a half. I've read that walking at a leisurely pace burns about 100 calories per mile....but if you walk at a fast pace you'll burn between 150 to 200 calories. That means if you walk for one hour....you'll burn 400 calories. On your return back home you can stop at your local McDonald's and reward yourself with a nice 'Hot Fudge Sundae!' ;-)
great video. Walking is awesome., so many extra benefits on top of weight loss. Better sleep patterns, and more mental well being. I am hooked on walking.
I lost 56 lbs and I've maintained it for a year. It took me 8 months. I started by walking as much as I enjoyed! I also did intermittent fasting and keto. I'm in sizes I wore in high school...small, extra small and 4-6. Granted, I live in the country, in the beautiful mountains of western NC.
why go from one extreme to another? Keep your diet the way it is and just start exercising. So called "bad diet" + "walking" is already better than "bad diet and not walking"
May I also mention that running shoes are actually meant for walking and not running. The mechanics for walking are different for running. Thus walking long distances in running shoes actually lessen the chances of injury while running in running shoes increase your chances of injury.
My wife started walking 5 miles a day a few months ago. We don't know where the heck she is now.

Edit: Thanks for all the likes and comments. I reached my goal on July 2 so it took a little over 3 months to drop 65 pounds. Next, I’m to see how much more I can drop by the end of the year.
You should also try intermediate fasting with the low carb. Has worked amazing for me..Went from 192 to 160 in 3 months...Good luck. Keep it up 🙂
Roxanne M. Thanks. I started intermediate fasting about a week into my diet. It definitely helps. Luckily I’m not a breakfast person so the fasting has been easy.

Exercise makes you feel better. Feeling better makes you stay away from bad diet.
yall have no idea how underrated this sentence is. MINIMAL cravings when you are actively exercising, even 15 minutes of speed walk does wonders.

@@YoungjulesTV I agree.
On June 1, 2019 I weighed 272 lbs. I am 5' 8" tall so I was basically obese. I started walking daily starting out at 1 mile a day
5 days a week. I have increased my distance to 4 miles a day minimum 5 days a week ( I also ride my bike several miles per
week) On May 11, 2020 I am down to 230 lbs. so I have lost 42 lbs. I have also drastically changed my diet. Cut back on sweets,
fried foods and processed sugars. I eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. No canned food or packaged food. I do cheat on
occasion but for the most part stick to my regimen. I want to lose at least 30 more pounds and I am in no hurry. Better to lose
the weight gradually. I am 70 years old and I haven't felt this good in probably 40 years. A good rule is If it grows on a plant- eat
it. If it grows in a plant( factory) -don't eat it.
That's awesome advice and congrats on your weight loss!!
Frozen or canned veggies/fruit is still >>>> the fast food, for those who cant afford the time/money.
If you have access to a swimming pool-preferably an

To further my story I had Covid-19 the entire month of December 2020. Doctors didn't expect me to survive. But here it is July 2021 and I have never felt better. Had to learn to walk all over again and am back up to 4 miles day. Also down to 210 lbs.

@paul youre weird
❤️🙏🏽
Are you me?! I've been walking daily to a goal for a few weeks and already feeling a lot more muscle in my legs and all the benefits you mentioned even down to being an introvert and keeping the depression at bay! Things truly felt sustainable once I realized even if my anxiety is too bad that day I can just walk inside. My local park is great because everyone is there doing their own thing. Everyone is friendly and no one cares what you're wearing or if you're doing something "weird" or different.

What about your diet?
@@elizabethkatcharava466 I'm guessing no diet
Tim...lol . My walking started by walking to McDonalds every other morning ( 6km total ) in the mornings but only had a coffee . ( ok...a muffin occasionally ).
1 mile is = 1.6 km so 10 miles = 16 km . It sounds like you've gone a lot further when it is expressed in km's ! lol
hahaha....you mean what the majority of the world uses ?

Nice! I didn’t cut out sugar for my diet because I definitely need my morning fiber. The only thing was I stopped eating carbs later than 7pm.
You know our schools failed us when we need to have walking explained to us.
so many important things are only being taught on the internet leaving us with easily manipulated, dumb people :/ (thinking of my classmates while writing this...)

@@rcae1130 This is better than driving to mcdonalds

How much do you walk and how often?
@@tiffanyweems912 I walk 7 days a week 8 miles per day. I walk 5 miles in the morning before breakfast and 3 miles in the evening before dinner. I do it rain or shine. Once winter sets in I will probably buy a treadmill but I will still do most of my walking outside.
That’s amazing! Congrats and best of luck as you continue on your journey. I started my journey on July 23 2020 and I have lost 17 by walking and lowering my calories. Your post confirmed my thoughts about walking. Thanks
Good job Jason...Add to the mix intermittent fasting, it's not hard and you can find tons of UA-cam videos on the subject.
Congratulations 👏 👏
I’m 64, with Emphysema. I walk an hour six days a week, plus a half hour on the elliptical. Burning about 33-3500 calories a day.
My Pulmonologist asked me to speak to his patients. Trust me, if you have COPD, exercise while it is really hard at first will help your condition immeasurably.
I started at my current job three years ago at 230lbs, now, I’m at 161 lbs.
Any kind of exercise activity will result to health benefits. But diet is still very important.

no, absolutely not. medium intensity is perfect to fuck up the body real good. 4 days low intensity, 1 day very high intensity, 1 day lazy, never !!!! medium intensity
I went from a 42 to a 36 pant size 3 months after walking/ trotting/ running (some mornings I was running late) 30 minutes to work and 30 minutes home every day in the summer of 2006
I walk 25 mins to work and 25 mins back almost every day and i don't lose any weight. Should stop eating chocolate almost every day. :-)
Sounds interesting... let's do this!!!💪💪💪
@@KK-hy6sx you can because I’ve done it plenty of times it’s about calories in and calories out
Hi! If your going to try this make sure to drink lots of water!! You’ll get faster results😁😁
But i hate going to the loo every 5mins 😪
My New Years Resolution was to get more exercise so I started walking and now I am up to 5-6 miles a day - 7 days a week. It takes me about 80 minutes and I wear my Fitbit and put on my headphones and simply get into the music as I walk. Walking is also a great way to clear your mind of worries and sort thru stressful issues.
I started walking in addition to my regular exercise routine and I really enjoy it so far. Its super easy to do even when I'm feeling super lazy- i tell myself it's the least i can do today.
It’s a piece of the puzzle that helped me loose 70 pounds.. so far... 10k steps is my mandatory minimum per day and I love it.
Walking is actually a peaceful exercise and good for the heart and mind... high impact and gym work is a stress to the body and can be detrimental...
Great vid as always.
walking has it's own perks and so does the gym. side effects to both as well. do what you like better.
maunder01 lol no
I hope you’re joking about what you said about the gym.
I've walked the minimum 150 minutes per week and averaged a lost of 2lbs minimum per week since March. It really does work.
Great job keep it up
I am now walking now for exact 105 days every day 15 - 30.000 steps since i lost my job.
Walking is a life saver..peqce annd blessings
yesss l actual lost 5 pounds and i started last week. just go on a calorie deficient and u world loose weight
Thanks 😊
My job requires me to walk at least 10 hours a day. It's crazy how simple I lost weight without realizing it until co-worker have noticed lol. I also diet and exercise so it contributed to me losing 35 lbs in 3 months.
I lost weight fast like that too when I was a server and bartender. Standing and walking for 6-8 hours straight will definitely make you lose weight!
I walk on the treadmill everyday for a hour in the morning. It helps me clear my mind
You in Atlanta, let's go for a walk

Tim Donovan Incorporate a pillow and you'll get some real results. 😂
I started walking 6 km a day (sometimes 10) four weeks ago. I lost 12 kg (from 91 to 79) I discovered this channel few weeks ago, and I am surprised I did the right thing, but now I have to switch to another form of exercise to get better results. thank you for the channel.
Update i went from 91 kilos to 73 kilos in two months by controlling what I eat and walking everyday, especially after meals.
I started walking and eating healthy it works, thank you for the video.
I’m on day 3 . I been walking and exercising with my waist trainer on
I cut sugar and carbs and walked maybe a mile a day and lost 14lbs. Ive now incorporated fasting and have lost much more.. And I have my butt still!

Just start making it as a routine last week.. Within a week i lost 5kg. Been walking for at least 5km in the morning and 2 km in the evening. I feel great now. Hopefully i can motivate myself to keep doing this everyday. Thank a lot
You can do it
I've been walking 45-60 minutes every day for years, i love it, i feel great, fit, lean, strong, loads of energy, clear and sharp mind, and feel half my age of 55.
I lost a lot of weight From walking And dieting I went from 285 to 210 I Averaged about 14000 or More A-day And I walk at a fast pace
14,000 steps a day? or 14,000 calories a day?
I'm 24 years old. I have been walking on a regular basis for 45 minutes since last month. When I started, my waistline was 28 inches. Now my waistline is 26.7 inches. I eat everything but I eat less. I try to eat not more than 1500 calories each day. I also incorporate a 10 minutes ab workout. Walking every day really helps.
I'm 66-years. I agree walking exercise is superb. I need a treadmill. I think of my heart. I will NOT put my heart under undue stress.
(U.K.)
Gd luck
Very good man
Get outside and walk you don't need treadmill.

I’ve walked 5 miles every morning for 9 days in a row so far usually takes me an hour and 20 minutes ruffle and I’ve lost 4lbs.
No way you walk a marathon every day... it takes about 8 hours to walk that distance
Lol!

Well you are obviously lying....
Stay safe!
@@LA-db9xj
If you walk a mile in 16 minutes you must have a speed of about 40km/h and that’s almost the same as class 1 mopeds... and it is a lot faster than a class 2 moped...
10kmh faster than what is legal speed to drive past schools...
normal walking speed is under 10kmh and then it takes 6 hours to walk 6 miles.
this is probably the most informative fitness channel i've stumbled upon , keep doing you
Walked 30 min perday for one week. I lost three pounds. I also had more calories out than in.
Due to my knee and back conditions I can't exercise with high intensity workouts sadly so walking is a great form of exercise for me. I walk at least an hour every other day and when my knees are strong enough I walk every day. It's great for mental health as well. Especially during lockdown
- 1 hour brisk walks in the morning (not hard)
- Reduce your carb intake (not hard)
- Intermittent fasting (not hard)
= Amazing and fast results

Started walking again, usually 30 to 40 mins about five days a week. I like the way I feel afterwards and I've been sleeping better.

Sounds great hope to be hooked as well on walking!!🙂
I've been walking 30-and hour everyday and it didn't really help me lose weight but it helped me maintain my weight
Yhh same
I lost 56 lbs and I've maintained it for a year.
When I'm running and walking my diet improves by 100%!
Since Monday I started to walk 5 miles in 1 hour per day and it feels good.
