My mother is 60, 2 months age she began walking for an hour each morning with her friends and also eating healthy but plenty no diet. She lost 15kg!!!!! Just by walking daily, I was so surprised because I always do much more complicated exercises and because they’re tough I skip them often and her, simply because of walking she lost weight and I still haven’t. There’s a lesson there 🙌🏼❤️

I have lost 6 pounds in 6 days and I feel soooo good !!!! I feel like I am high on life . Best therapy for depression as well

I have multiple myeloma. This is a terminal and deadly blood cancer. Last year I lost 32 pounds in a week and a half and spoke to my hematologist about hospice care. In February 2022 I noticed that I was slowly gaining weight which was a good thing. On march 23 I started power walking again. I do between 10K and 26K for now. I plan on doing another 42K marathon. I can vouch that power walking is better than running. There are a ton of benefits. When I was running my knees always hurt. Power walking solved that problem. Now I do at least one half marathon a week usually the day after chemo when I feel the worst. For me I feel so much better after.
Thanks for this video. By the way, I have done almost 40 virtual races since March 23. My hemotologist is astounded.

I've had better results from walking plus strength training than having just done running by itself. I always found I had this uncontrollable hunger after running that I would not have had otherwise. But I understand there are people that really enjoy running and that's great everyone is different. I walk currently because I'm 40lbs too heavy to consider running. I used to love running, so I hope to lose a few lbs and then graduate back to running, HIIT sprints particularly. Right now I use a treadmill on 4% incline for 20-30 mins, if I fancy a change, I get on the elliptical for a bit, or rower, so I'm doing some cardio for 30 mins in total every day. Keeping it low impact is what I need right now because of chronic pain issues from a previous illness, if I go too hard too soon, I exhaust myself and that stops me from doing it consistently. Better to walk consistently than run once in a while!

Not sure about the 1mile walking vs 1mile running being both 100kcal. Running is more per mile. But the rest is bang on, waking is imo better for weight loss than running especially due to the ability to keep it consistent (and longer) and keeping in the right aerobic zones for far longer (per mile let’s say). Totally agree, walking is the best!

There's some early silent film footage on UA-cam of crowd scenes on a busy New York street. There are no fat people in that footage! Everyone is slim - because they walk everywhere. No weight loss "diets" and everyone ate a faily high fat diet - yet none of those people are fat - amazing, isn't it?

I’ve cut out running and replaced it with with walking and noticing a slight improvement in losing belly fat. NOT weight and I don’t care to lose weight. I believe there is some truth to this and I’m hoping to see more success in this practice.

Hi Suraj. It is very easy to fall into the trap of weight loss or weight gain being down to body fat changes. Body 'weight' comprises of more than that, muscle, water, food intake and digestive tract contents all make a shift on the scales. As you are an active person you may lose some body fat but gain some body muscle which won't move the scales necessarily but will change your shape. As for the stubborn belly fat, have you tried intermittent fasting.

I would love this to be true for me😞. I've been walking consciously for a couple of months now. My goal is 10k on-purpose steps (I don't count the steps I accumulate via my general day), and I've gained 7lbs lol 😆! Yes, I do moderated strength training 3xs a week. Yes, I drink enough water. No, I've not increased my calories (usually around 1200 daily) to compensate for the calories lost via exercise. I won't stop walking but dang it's frustrating!

I had the same issue. But it turns out I had insulin resistance. I tried intermittent fasting, and while it took five months to reverse it, I managed. I got my eating window down to four hours.
A little bit before I got my bloodwork back (cholesterol trending in the right direction, even my iron deficiency anemia reversed), I started seeing some results. I started walking *every* day and added a lot of OMAD (One meal a day) days into my fasting plan, and I’m dropping over a pound a week now.
I have a teeny tiny channel geared toward chronic pain patients (and those with depression and chronic fatigue) and recently posted a video about the challenge I gave myself, and how I coped with it while still being chronically ill. I’m hoping to try an hour a day in the spring to see how it impacts me.
I don’t know if you have an issue like insulin resistance going on, but you might look at a blood panel, see if you have any complications like that or a thyroid issue.
I could never make progress until I addressed my underlying problem. I wasn’t doing anything *wrong.* But my body was simply not geared toward dropping weight. I had to make it adapt. My doctor mentioned me being on a diabetes medication to help trick my body to reverse the insulin resistance. But it’s possible to do it naturally, if you don’t have a history with EDs.
I hope you find what works for you. 🌻

Hi Phil. If you're struggling with 10,000 steps a day then I'm not sure that running is particularly going to help you, unless of course you particularly want to take up running. If that is the case then there is a program called 'Couch to 5K' that you could do a google search for or download from an app store. Here in the UK the NHS do one also. With regards the 10,000 step target, please don't take that figure as a 'target' as it is a very arbitrary number. Rather look to what is achievable for you and look to build on that gradually each week.

@@annamaria1972 I'm sure that would help.. But after working 10 hours a day.. And walking 10 to 15 miles while unloading trailers... Pulling and pushing carts full of Amazon packages... I'm short on energy to do HIIT.. I'm going to start doing rolling 72 hour fasts... Get down to about 140 then start eating normal again
