I ordered one of these as well and absolutely love it. I also picked up the aluminum thumb “nubs” for flipping the blades open on my FreeP4. I just ordered the saw adapter and the bit driver adapter they sell. Shipping is pretty fast too, considering it comes from overseas. Amazing that these were designed and thought up by a small independent bike shop owner in Taiwan.
It looks great but on the ebay link it says it would be dispatched from Shenzen, China...I wonder if it's made there or in Taiwan? If it were Taiwanese I might consider it but mmm Chinese steel and heat treatment can be good or bad depending on who made it. So how is yours holding up? Have you put it through it's paces?
Saw those adapters 2 weeks ago, thought they were real cool but like you said, didn't know what to expect and they're not cheap ! Seeing now what they are, def gonna order some !! ✌
It sounds like this is the most excited you've been for a while in a video. Leatherman should aim to make people feel that way with their new tools and accessories.
Circling back on this, love this adapter. Just wanted to note that the Steinwhale Stubby double-sided bits work great with this adapter, so it's easy to pocket carry 16 bits. The adapter fits perfectly on the K2 and T4 Phillips, as well as the Victorinox S557 Phillips. Glad to hear it works with the Wingman/Rev.
One of the deal killers for the Free series is the lack of thier flat bit driver like on my Surge. I use my bits and LM rachet driver up to several times in a day
Interesting that an independent(which is great) comes up with solutions that LTG should be coming up with...this type of innovation is an excellent example of American exceptionalism...good video, thanks!
I usually don't make comments because everybody has there opinion and that's fine by me. But I did try to mod the Leatherman adaptor for the CS4 and my drill bits that cuts through steel and stainless barely scratch the adaptor and got worn out so I decided to let it be. So it would be interesting to see which adaptor is the hardest. Just saying... even with a simple file would make it obvious.
Not deep enough to work well with Leatherman bits. Too much wobble. Works well with Leatherman ratchet adapter. Also ball detent bits don't work at all.
Imagine, just imagine…if the FREE series was literally that. Take a Free p2: blade, hex bit, t shank and scissors, everything one hand operable. You really don’t need anything else. That would’ve been an insane selling tool. Probably the best tool for the next 25 years. Instead they go for a wanker with 5 flat screwdrivers and a mini file. Jeeeeeez leatherman.
And no, I don’t want the surge before some smartypants says it. The surge is cumbersome and it’s not a one hand tool which can make it or break it for so many people. It’s easily one of the most important features in a multi tool on a job.
@@sgsheff they had so much potential, but leatherman sets their quality on “good enough” and don’t make the further step IMO. It’s embarrassing that 3rd parties have to come up to solutions that they should’ve implemented, because they could’ve. Very easily.
@@clintwestwood3539 yup, that's exactly right. You can tell they purposely don't include certain features in a lot of their multitools so that customers have to buy multiple tools to get what they want. That's why Leatherman modding is so huge. You should be able to do a custom order with almost any tool they make with your choice of tools as long as they fit and they should put the r&d into getting a version of each feature to fit into each tool. It's so frustrating.
I really wish the ratchet adapter was as nice looking, it would look & hopefully feel more high quality. Even better, do you think ‘someone’ could make a ratchet adapter for the Free series?? But in that same quality, now that would be amazing 🥳🥳
Very nice accessory but in my opinion very overpriced also. I base that on my ability to take a 1/4 drive, 1/4 socket and put it on the phillips screwdriver and package opener of the P4 to accomplish the same thing.
Would this adapter work with Wiha’s double ended bits? It’s kind of a deal breaker for me. By the way, the one thing I’ve found to work with Leatherman propietary bits, Wiha’s double ended bits and, of course, standard bits, is the Gerber Armbar. A pity the bit driver doesn’t lock.
so if you installed the 4mm/6.45mm adapter would you still be able to keep the prybar and awl? don't care about the tape measure or can opener really, would like to keep the file and pry bar if possible but would like the adapter in it.
@@maxlvledc so driver/adapter on the side with the scissors and move the awl? or put the driver in place of the awl, can opener, file, and move the pry, awl, file to side with scissors?

The T shank blade holder 😍.
Reminds me of a "hack" with Victorinox of all sorts, 1/4 bit adapter fits on most bottleopener (works on swisstool too:P)

hmm, I could test. But I think the maximum harness of the steel of a cast part it like..58..which isnt that hard.

good leatherman news yet again another little win for NOT LEATHERMAN. But we r working on another folder lol

Nope, unfortunately

Yeah, a regular 1/4 socket will fit the p4 and give you a bit driver for pence.

Wow, that shop has all kinds of Leatherman goodies!!
Great find 🙌 Thanks!
Excellent find, thank you for sharing.
Now only if they made all of that for keybar.
Oh..just you wait..
Absolutely agree! 💯
These adapters come with every cheap multitool from my experience
Unless the free is much bigger of a phillips than i think?
Yes. Much bigger in width, sadly doesn't work with other adapters (leatherman's fault)
Wait what!?? Did this just convince me to get the free p4 over the wave? The only issue I had with the p4 was lack of bit exchanger…
Why cooler than the one I bought from leatherman
Just bought the last one ! 😬 49$ for me in Canada. We get so F in the A.
I wish somebody would make one of these with a ratcheting mechanism…

Indeed
Will the flat bits fit in the narrow end?
Great video! Would this fit a 711L ratchet on the smooth end? If so, is there anything that would fit the other end to increase leverage?
Possibly..but at that point you should just carry a small ratchet
Thanks for the info.

I had same thought!
Does it fit inside the same cavity in the bit kit that the rebar one does?
No sadly
