Had the pleasure of meeting Valentino once. I walked up and bugged him for a picture together. He turned and loudly said "NO!"...then he stood there with a angry face for a few moments while I started try and mumble a apology interrupting him. Then his angry face melted into a wide smile and a big Italian laugh! He had got me. :-) We shared a laugh and he put his arm around me, took a picture, and said "You know who I am?... you must like sports cars?" Salt of the earth and a living legend!
You wish you had that man's former job... PS: No car is really new, they all have a few kilometers done although they'll sell them to you as new. As a mechanic I can tell you this.
Actually Ford (GT) and Lexus (LFA) were both quite proud of the fact that they shipped their cars with zero miles on them. Factories don't need to break in cars if they're built right. The GT and LFA are two of the best modern cars out there yet neither company had to touch them at all once built.
Thi car was a special order for Patrick Mimran. The Mimran brothers bought Automobili Lamborghini from bankruptcy in 1980. The color is Bordeaux Speciale, specially created by PPG Italver, Lamborghini's Milan based paint supplier. The wheels are OZ in Oro colour. The engine has been upgraded with special cams and an additional oil cooler. The interior has been fitted with a state-of-the-art Alpine stereo to satisfy Mimran's love of music. The car was delivered to Mimran in 1986, registered in Switzerland with plate VD 256925.
I note that in this video the interior is typical Countach yet in other photos of this same car I see the model number as seen in the tail section between the tail lights, also occurs on a white dash panel. Which is correct for how Mimran had this car built? I assume that Mimran is responsible for eliminating the Series One low body form of the LP400S.
Whittle Moore I so completely agree. Listening to Mr. Balboni, a man I'd say is more closely associated with the brand than any other human being outside of Ferruccio Lamborghini himself, speak about Lamborghini automobiles is like listening to someone describe the love of their life.
No way man! This Car is a SHIT BOX! A Hunk Of Shit! A Turd! A Turd on the ground! A Pile Of Shit! A Hump Of Shit! A Real Turd on the Ground Mane! SHEIT! SHEIT MANE SHEIT! Nuff said! And YOU “BOY”! YOU!! You Can take that to the BANK! SHEIT! SHEIT MANE SHEIT!
@Lim Jahey Well Lim, he must say so maybe.. because he himself a sad wimp XD such poor individuals always state that the one has to exclude the other - and that it is compensation.. because they have themselves wether the one nor the other to offer - lol.. and every sad wimp may sit in a supercar and drive like with every other VW Golf.. as it all works the same - so a supercar is then "no compensation" right..? consider the BS you're telling Aldo..
Management: Young man, we know you are driving the cars when you are not supposed to. Valentino: Ummm... Management: Well, that kind of rule breaking spirit is EXACTLY what we look for here at Lamborghini! You are promoted! Here, drink this bottle of wine and go park the rest of the cars. Valentino: ...okay.
I remember going to the cinema in cento, Italy, to watch the Wolf of Wall Street and, at the end of the movie, realising that I was sitting next to him. I onestly find amazing how he likes to speak about is job and Lamborghini memories to everyone who's interested, if you ever read this thank you again Valentino
Bordeaux Speciale with Panna interior over Oro Ozzetta wheels. This is the original spec and we are in 1986...what a rare beauty. Infinite thanks Ben for letting us the opportunity to see this car by video and especially for the icon himself : Balboni
Still the best looking Italian car ever made in the world !!!!!! The gentleman talks about the car as it should be talked about, and you can see the joy in his eyes, his passion for it.
What a legend... and seems like the kind of man who would have endless stories to tell, all in that friendly, gentle manner. Great video and I echo everyone else who wishes it was longer!
'agreed.', david Watkinson. I was fortunate enough to be driven by him as well. 220mph and i have never felt safer.. ;o ) he genuinely IS the loveliest guy too as you say.. so full of information about the company, about ferrucio and ALL things lamborghini, and everything is shared with so much love and passion. he really IS the luckiest bloke in the world to have lived his life and enjoyed his career - driving the GREATEST cars ever built. \m/ x
I don't comment on many videos at all but this is truly epic. What a great story to tell and wow, what a video. Sound is spot on and the shots are great. Thanks for putting a huge smile on my face and capturing the enjoyment of driving.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Balboni once. He is every bit as gentle, down-to-earth, warm and friendly in real life as he appears in the video.
what a legend. I have always loved Lambo's from a kid till now but these were the proper ones that deserved respect, no automatic pilot etc on these, just you and a V12 and a big set of balls.
I always remember being allowed to sit in a Countach years ago at a car show years ago. I instantly fell in love with that car and have ever since. This is a great video.
I remember driving the lp550-2 Balboni edition. It wasn't that much different to the regular, apart from the rear wheel drive, but knowing the story and the man behind it made it so much better.
I'm glad I watched this on a high-res screen with loud balanced stereo speakers - the only way to genuinely appreciate this without actually being there. Thank you for making this.
Valuable footage indeed. Stunning livery for this Quattrovalvole. Sincerely feeling thankful to Ferruccio Lamborghini and his staff for they made our dreams come true ....and more, they made reality turn into a dream.
Italian style? Sounds nothing like any Italian music style I've heard. Sounds more like the typical 80's synth sound which sounded pretty much the same everywhere in the world.
I have the great pleasure of conversing with him every now and then. Any time I send him a message he always responds. He is a legend and at the same time a very humble man.
Wonderful man who truly appreciates his life, doing one of the most incredible jobs ever. Valentino you are a wonderful advertisement and inspiration to the automotive world, and your beloved Lamborghini.

Queen music
That's beautiful.
Great story, thank you for sharing :)
A man as legendary as the car itself!
A dick who made sure everyone who bought one got a used car.
Nice joke...not
You wish you had that man's former job...

3Storms...A lot newer cars from alot larger companies backed by much greater finances.
Nothing will ever replace the Countach.
Ever.
It was, and is it's own category.

Yeah, I read that somewhere, Octane?
Very nice combo... 👌
As a kid, I had this car on my wall, not a Porsche, not a Ferrari, but this car. To this very day, the Countach is my dream car.
Nate D. Same here my friend
Same. True that!
Same. But now in my garage is an old Porsche GT3 - Countach stays a dream
Everyone did
This looks so good without the rear wing.
it also looks good without a camper top.
That was the last of the line, the LP5000 QV (about 1990)
And without the Side strakes. I never liked the side strakes, especially on the Testarossa.
Was thinking the same thing. So much better looking without that thing.
@@imbluz I agree the side strakes look awful on the late Countach. I never liked the Testarossa when growing up but now I think they look fantastic.
I don't know who was in charge of your cinematography, but give that person a raise
This video was about 2 hours too short. Regardless, best video I've seen all year.

I always remember as a child thinking Mr Balboni had one of the best jobs in the world. 30 plus years later. Nothing's changed....
mines10inches indeed
True

Remind me to buy Lamborghinis more often.
Well they do have wine dispensers in the factory canteen! :)
2 thumbs up Respect to Lamborghini for honoring this guy with naming a car after him. Both deserve credit
The Countach and Valentino Balboni are inseparable. They both have one thing in common, they're both legends!
One of the best specs ive evern seen ..❤❤❤Yummy
the smiling expression on that man's face is priceless
It's a genuine love affair.
Valentino balboni and the countach are two of the greatest of all time!!!
Legendary car driven by a legendary man Mr Balboni the smile on his face while driving this car happiness personified.
What a beautiful paint in that car!
Bordeaux!
It does a color shift in bright light, very cool for its age!
Luis Cruz yeah I like the paint on that car
it's hideous, purple has no place on a car.
And those wheels!

That would still be the Muira.
All car lovers, enthusiasts, and haters should watch this! There's something about it- peaceful creative mastery!
Finally, a man who truly understands the Countach. So many videos and articles of how the Countach is a pain in the ass to drive. This is refreshing.
This is probably the best colour I've ever seen on a Countach - it suits it perfectly.
That color combo is INSANE
Valentino's smile as he is driving says it all!! Nothing needs to be said about this amazing, legendary piece of artwork! :)
what a lovely soft spoken gentleman I could listen to his stories all day
This man has lived every car guys dream.
30 plus years and that car still makes my heart skip a beat.
What a legend... and seems like the kind of man who would have endless stories to tell, all in that friendly, gentle manner. Great video and I echo everyone else who wishes it was longer!
One of the best car videos ever. Love this guy. Look at the smile on his face when he drives.
Lamborghini Countach is madness out of this world, it's outrageous, it's exotic, it's the super car of super cars...a machine like no other...
Someone was cutting onions while I was watching this. This man truly understands and deserves these metal creatures.
What a Humble Man! Another Lamborghini Legend!
Look at him smile! Love it!
Man what a legendary beauty. I grew up admiring this car.
I am 100% sure mr. Balboni is actually a Jedi.
You mean Jedinio
Kanagawa Yarichin loooooooooool
Always a great pleasure to hear him speak. A legitamate legend of his profession and the living definition of a gentleman!
OH that was too short! I want to see more. Love it, Good to see Sackey's Countach driven and filmed so well. It is an outstanding restoration!
The design of this car is timeless.
This was fantastic! And the color of that Countach with the gold wheels- beautiful.
The BEST video I've seen on my beloved Countach. Those camera angles bring a smile to my face

Beautiful Car.
Charismatic Man.
His Smile when he talks about "the car is a human being"...

A privilege to watch Balboni talk about and drive Countach, having read about him.
His life was a complete gift. Thank you for sharing his story.
That has to be the best colour combination for a Countach. Beautiful.
What a beautiful relation between a master of his craft and a car that commands respect, simply beautiful.

Valentino just a gentle soul who has so much passion for cars. Watching that film made me remember why I wanted to work on cars.
