Happy birthday L Frank Baum!!
I saw this cartoon on the Disney channel in 1989. My entire family LOVES this version of The Wizard of Oz. It is the only film that feels like the book. This poster is the coolest thing you have in your collection. These are super rare! Thanks for sharing!
The Muppet version includes more scenes and elements:
The Muppet version includes the field mice, green glasses, the Witch’s cap and the magic shoes are silver.
Have you seen the other anime from 1986-7? I'd argue that it is far more developed and well rounded, literally the single most accurate adaptation of the book. No other versions include the giant spider, the Dainty China Country, the Hammerheads etc.
@@forrestdupre87 the Muppet version was awful.
@@mikee20024 The Billina Voice actor makes that one unwatchable. Past the second episode.
I think I know what I'm going to watch tonight! I'm just catching up on your recent videos that I've missed. Since spanish is one of the languages spoken in Argentina, as it is for most of South America, and it very much might've been the poster used in Argentina at the time for the movie release. :)
This is the only poster in this style that I have seen sell from Argentina. Most of the other examples I've seen have come from Spain, so maybe they were used in both countries? It's a shame there weren't posters for the United States release!
@@LAQuadling that does make its origin seem much more ambiguous, and it would be an interesting backstory to know of the poster. It is sad there wasn’t one for the US release. I ended up not watching the movie last night, so it’s on my agenda for today instead. 😊
Wtf
Have you seen the new WICKED trailer?
If thay make a film of the marvelous land of oz thay shod have a transgender boy as tip and a transgender girl as ozma 🧑🏻👸🏳️⚧️
That is not what Ozma represents, except in your 20th century mindset. It is simply a great *children's story and it should stay that way.
We’ll then you are probably not going to be happy with the wizard of oz remake
@@Blueparle What Wizard of Oz remake? I mean, there's like three in production, and they all sound like horrible, heartless projects. There have been plenty of awful Oz films in the past that I pay no mind to, things like After the Wizard, Witches of Oz, Tin Man. The 1939 Oz isn't even that great when compared the the original books.
@maxwelle2002 a boy changes into a girl at the end of the book. It's a magical sex change. Do you have a problem with that?
We’ll I do urge that ozma is not transgender because she terns back into a girl but she inspires transgender people because she becomes her true self that’s what being transgender means becoming one’s true self
