I loved this whole series when it was originally on TV wish they would make some more episodes I am sure there are plenty more haunted properties. Is is very informative much better than most haunted where all they do is scream and nothing is ever seen or even heard. Michaela Strachan is a great presenter for all the series and I love watching all the series again on you tube.

Good old programme. Wish they would make more. Its a very enjoyable watch & there must be a lot more tales to be shown. It is always best to hear these stories from the people who have had the experiences. Thankyou for sharing.

I don't know about anyone else, but the place feels like the history is still there. It would be interesting to stay a week there. I love the castles.
I like Michaela's approach to all of this. It's sort of like travel and have fun visiting these places and hearing the stories, which is what most people will do. I like that they aren't being overly dramatic and ridiculous.
"Most Haunted" has too much standing around in the dark and then flipping out over nothing. You would think by now they would be used to cold spots and knocking sounds.

@David Parry I live on a museum of farm buildings, most dating back to 17 & 18th, some are parts of a ruined Abbey & they're older. My place is the youngest at 1840 something. Never so much as a hint of a ghost. Others say they've seen & heard things, but not me.
@David Parry The house I live in now was haunted when I moved in. It was only built about 1980. Not spooky though, a very nice elderly gent, very jovial. Just hadn't realised he had passed on. Just needed a bit of explanation & direction. Be kind to them, sometimes they are a little lost. Could happen to you or me.
I was impressed by the writtings on the wall in the cell room. I enjoyed the second story a bit more. That building is so well maintained. Such a beautiful pub.

The good thing about this show was hearing the stories of what had happened directly from people who had experienced them. That made it really interesting, that and seeing the old buildings for ourselves. If anyone thinks of starting a paranormal type show please take note.
I've stayed here, it was quite and peaceful. I've had scarier nights at the Holiday Inn.
Occasional observationalist he kept bragging that they’d filmed things yet he didn’t have anything to show us, why not show us all this proof unless of course it’s just a load of gumph to make more money.

You would think with all of the years "Most Haunted" has been on that they'd be used to thumping noises and specks of dust floating past a night vision camera, yet we still get Yvette screaming her head off like a demon just grabbed her bum.

My family’s name actually started in St. Briavels. William, son of Baderon de Heathway was appointed to the Lordship of Ruardean and St. Briavels in 1086. His title of Constable of the Forest of Dean, a hereditary title passed down through 13 generations of William Hathaways. That line died out during the plague. I was able to visit England about 7 years ago and visited St. Briavels. Unfortunately, the hostel was closed for the season and I was told by locals that the caretakers were in London. So close yet, so far! I was at least able to visit the nearby ‘Hathaway Barn’ built over 800 years ago. Quite a thrill for this American to feel the very blocks built by my ancestors!
The doggie in the second story looks like a real cutie, he points where the ghosts are and she runs in the opposite direction.

My childhood home was occupied by spirit's.....It used to touch me I shit you not.Doors opening and footsteps up the stairs at night even sitting on my bed..I'm serious it was every night. Some weird stuff I won't go into because it's a long long story...Suffice to say its no longer a home as no-one could live there it's now a Dentist's of all things.....Trust me it's real...

I was once working at Londons Guildhall,The site is about 1,000 years old, We were clearing up after a dinner party ( you can hire the place if you are very rich) Anyhow I was waiting for a goods lift to come down with some of our gear ,completely alone, when right next to me there came the sound of a loud sobbing,I remember it very clearly,it sounded like a very young , small child ,possibly a little girl, anyhow the sobbing moved away and I walked next to it, walked down a small passageway for about 30m, I then turned around and walked back to the beginning of the passage and all was quite again.I agree you cant explain all the event in one small email, but this was real ,nothing will convince me otherwise,so I know what you're on about...Best,,,,,,,

Anyone else notice the damage to St.Briavels main door,it looks like it was attacked with an Adze at some point! Whoever it was certainly had a good go at trying to get in!

St. Briavels Castle had also been visited by Chris Halton a few years ago for his Haunted Earth UA-cam channel. That's how I recognised the place.

I own a few episodes including this one on DVD. I enjoy a little light historical exploitation, and the host Michaela is charming, that sort of seals the deal for me.
When a ghost looks like its hovering above the floor it means the foundations of that building have sunk down over the years and the ghost is actually on the original floor at the time they lived.

I believe that they have been seen, but generally only around ancient sites. An example in Britain that I’m sure I’ve heard of was within the 5000 year old Neolithic village called “Skara Brae” (3180BC), in which something was spotted within one of the ancient houses/ walkways. Plus many of the hundreds of Stone circles that exist up and down Britain have always been connected to the spiritual world; especially within Wiltshire in Western England which is not only home to Stonehenge (3000-2500BC), but many other architecturally significant Neolithic monuments such as Avebury stone circle (2850-2200BC) and Silbury Hill (2470-2350BC). Also I’m sure some of the amazing 5000 year old tombs in Ireland such as Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth (all built around 3200BC) would have some sort of paranormal activity within them, as well as the large chambered Tomb of Maeshowe (2800BC) up in Scotland. Ancient sites like these are absolutely *steeped* in history and intrigue, so I’m sure if you’re wanting to see one they’d be a great place to start.

me and my friends woke up with a trail of oats around the room and leading downstairs! we were in the room above the oubliette. my other friend had an uncleared oubliette under her room. i stayed in the"constables quaters". peoples rooms were messed up and things were also moved. we werent sure whether it was the "ghosts" or the sixth formers though! xx

This was common long ago, but still happens every day, most in the third world.
If there was something wrong with the Child, they would leave it to die or starve to death. Sometimes if the baby was made of two not being married, it was a great shame. Maybe the man was married, and he did somebody else pregnant.
Sometimes the baby wasn't even wanted... poor souls.

The spit dogs were actually bred for their work, so they didn’t really get mistreated. They often worked in pairs and adored their owners, sitting with them on cold days to keep them warm. They’d be a good apartment dog these days, because you could put them on a treadmill for exercise, lol. But the breed is extinct.
I have a lot of respect for phenomenon like this as I have been in 2 haunted houses , one sea cove was haunted by a fisherman also.
There was 1 more house I was not allowed into also, because the ghost did not want anyone in her hose

I just got back from st briavels today on a school trip, i stayed in the old kitchen/porters lodge and upstairs was the prison and i heard footsteps and then the chain on the door rattled and i saw pictures on the windows in the exact same spot, even the teachers got scared in isabels room
Yeah man, i stayed in the room above the oubliette room, back in 95. Man i got the s**ts when i was there, had to get up at 2am to use the s**thouse on the staircase outside the oubliette room. Jesus never been so scared in my life, something was scratching the outside of the door whilst i was on the toilet
The hanging part didn't make sense, how did they get someone out to hang, through the window? Surely those blocks on the outside wall are structural?
Who the hell would sleep (I mean how could you literally sleep) in the oubliette room? It's crazy to think it's so well hidden, you'd never know if you weren't told and didn't look under the rug... Crazy.

My thoughts exactly I also like Michaela's intellectual approach, that of an open minded sceptic, I believe to a certain degree in the super natural but All these other shows talking about orbs and residual energy as if they're factual terms are ludicrous. much prefer shows like this documented eye witness accounts, with a bit of historical research. If I have one criticism its that its a little bit too short should be an hour long but I hope Michaela does more of them.
Some interesting locations here ! Would be great to get in that castle and do some investigating !

its not a mirror its the doorway from the hanging room into the guard room, and its a trick of the light from the archway windows and the camera angle

I much prefer this style of show. MH and GH are tedious with all of the "Did you hear that?" and "What was that?" and the bad sound effects that constantly play in the background. This is nice because it's like a historical ghost tour and you hear the stories instead of a lot of inane chatter about nothing.

One day someone will look back at our time and think ‘wow that was so long ago ‘ Sad thing is that as i am a nobody ...nobody will ever know i was here .They say that you die twice.Once when you die physically and then again when nobody speaks your name anymore.
I stayed here for a week in 2018. In the middle of the night, after coming back from the toilet 3 levels down, I had a ghost hand stroke my head down my back. Other then that... nada..

I doubted once as well. I have discovered that many times I have been visited in a few places. I live on a haunted ranch in the SW US, but have had experiences elsewhere. Something is out there, what I'm not sure. I want to go to England and I am planning a trip. Any takers ladies? You cannot look all your life to find something and not in the end find it.
I cannot explain the what or why. I do not have to. I know what I've heard, felt, seen, smelled and I am not alone. There have been hundreds of experiences by other people who have lived here. If you are afraid I understand. I have dealt with my fear and am more curious than afraid.

Ditto. Don't believe it (or rather believe there are explanations which do not involve hauntings) but find these programmes most entertaining, if only for their insights into human psychology.

I believe its just a misunderstood phenomona.
There are of course all sorts of theories and indeed evidence to support the existence of the paranormal, but these often aren't enough to thouroughly convince people.
I can tell you that ive had many experiences that were no fun, scary even, some good, but they all happened.
I dont expect u to believe me nor would I try to convince you.
I will say though that in most cases, it scared the shit clean out of me.
'Ghosts' or 'spirits' or 'energy' or whatever its called, is in my mind just as normal as weather, or light and dark or the moon ..we just haven't figured it out yet.

I used to know residents on Coalway Rd, close to St. Philip’s church, Penn Fields, whose house, they sincerely claimed, had poltergeists. They moved before I’d chance to find out.

I'm surprised that there isn't a joke in Britain saying that when you go to buy or rent a place, they ask you what kind of ghost you prefer as one of the standard questions on the application.

the stones falling is also a phenomenon that has been reported to have happened twice in Western Australia, stones falling from the sky continuosly over a number of days

And he said he had loads of film of things happening yet didn’t show us a single frame surprisingly.
I have had a few “meetings” where a figure didn’t materialise but were voices in my head - place to laugh here - were I actually was having a sort of telepathic conversation and then i’ve had a couple of times where I could feel a presence of something but couldn’t actually see anything.
But, if I one day came to see a white lady hovering above the floor i’m not too sure that my first action would be to grab a camera or phone and start taking pics.
The 5:39 ghost is really an optical illusion. The shadow on the wall seems to connect with the top of a windowsill. Everything came together at just the right moment to look like a ghost. It is pretty creepy though. Whoever caught that has a good eye. :-)
I dont' like her but cannot admits she's very entertaining and full of life to do her job...so enjoy these shows. to bad not to many were made
