I think One Step Closer was the first breakdown I’ve ever heard in my life. I was like 6 or 7 years old when I first heard it. It wouldn’t be until 10 years later I’d dive back in heavy music. Been over 10 years since that. Thank God for Linkin Park.
Actually, Somewhere I Belong is Eb, it's the bass that plays the A# note and Brad and Mike played a bar chord on the two low strings. With You is actually a standard B with a seven string guitar.
@@mexicanmaggot666 but I think Mike used to play the seven string way back (at least I observed in Rock Am Ring 2004 live version). There is that Drop A# heaviness which (in my humble opinion) can't be just Bass. And I have a logic for that: Linkin Park used Ibanezs only for Drop B and below songs till that period. Later they stopped using Ibanezs and playing heavier stuff and switched to complete PRS lineup.
One Step Closer and No More Sorrow As much as I loved Hybrid theory and Meteora, their comeback made me appreciate Minutes to Midnight and Thousand Suns. I personally believe Hunting party was just an album they put out just to shut everyone up about them ditching the original sound.
That 'breakdown' from A Line in the Sand always remind me of Metallica 🤘 And the bridge from The Keys to the Kingdom goes equally hard 🤯 The Hunting Party is 🐐
Exactly how I got into it. It was 2005, my brother and I were at a brand new skatepark the day it opened and this track was playing on the PA system, radio DJ comes on and says that was Linkin Park and the rest was history for us both!
While it's not a heavy moment, when I saw LP in a small stage show back in 1999 their energy was crazy. Chester literally ran around the stage non stop the entire time.
Munching on the memberberries right now. My first album was Hybrid Theory when I was 11 or so. One Step Closer was indeed the heaviest song ever in my opinion too haha.
How is it possible that nothing from the hunting party is here. I mean, I get that it's not part of the "classic era" linkin park, but it totally is the heaviest album they had since meteora, since minutes to midnight had like 3-4 heavy songs and the rest were nice "experimental" songs that would become future LP
Funny video title, Linkin park never stopped being heavy, even during their experimental era, they kept making metal/rock songs but kept those as demos and some made it to the Hunting Party Album. If you don't believe me, search for "Tritonus" or "Blanka", both made for A thousand suns, yet so heavy
with you is actually in b standard. hybrid theory used b standard for "with you" and "runaway" and in meteora they switched to drop b for 2 songs (dont stay and nobodys listening). dont mind me im just showing that i dont think i escaped my giant fangirl phase of linkin park since i was 13 lmao
Feel at home here! My best sub this year! The guitar content is pioneer! I self taught myself guitar and know nothing but metalcore death core style! lmao LONG LIVE CARCOSA!
I always felt like I should be embarrassed or something for the simple fact that linkin park breaking the habit music video on mtv2 one day before school. That whole album (meteora) hit me so hard and resonated like nothing ever before with the edgy elements and perfectly syncopated grooves. Without them I wouldn't have found pantera, LoG, SoaD, KoRn, and eventually... CARCOSA! Someone like you or Johnny being a linkin park nerd kid at heart just gives me so much nostalgia and validation and I can't thank you enough for all your content and the deliciously filthy riffs and breakdowns. Fucking love this channel, Fucking love your music... rant over (I'm srry 🤖)
Great video! To answer your question, no I don't remember when they were heavy, it's been so long. Only the first two albums are actually good in my opinion, the third has 1 ok song (given up) People complain about the reunion and new singer and how they should just stay not active, but I mean, it's not like there was a good album the past 19 years so how can they mess anything up?
Linkin Park was THE gateway band for me for sure. Changed my life. Hybrid theory/reanimation and Meteora are absolutely nostalgia heroin for me now haha
ive been playing a place for my head in Drop D along with song since i learned it when i was 11 years old im 32 now and you come here with you drop C# to be fair your probably right XD
Hey Andrew! Love your channel. Thank you for making this type of content. Also can you give some recommendations for string caliber? (D standart --- drop C/C#)
The Hunting Party is one of the heaviest Linkin Park albums, I expected some of its riffs on this video. Nevertheless, great playing and great choices for the riffs
“Remember when LP used to be heavy?” Said no one ever until you… They have made it their mission since before even hybrid theory released that they were never gonna cage themselves with genres and just do what they want, and you can see that in even their earliest music
Wait a minute. There's a single pickup 8-string behind the grey Ibanez. Have I missed a video or is that something new? PS LP was a gateway band for me also. Now I'm trying to, slowly, make it worm its way into my toddler's mind.
"Remember when Linkin Park were heavy"? Yes, they had an ENTIRE ALBUM of heavy songs released in 2014 called The Hunting Party and you didn't even include a single riff from it... ?????? Guilty All the Same? Rebellion? Mark the Graves? A Line in the Sand? Come on man. Disappointing video
If you want more heavy shit, please check out my band :) ua-cam.com/video/QzdujkZ-qxw/v-deo.html
wish you included the point of authority riff that one goes so hard
This.
I was waiting for it
Andrew stepping out of his comfort zone by playing songs in drop D.
Love these riffs! Keep it up.
the hunting party actually has a lot of heavy riffs
Looking back after getting into metal and hardcore… who would’ve thought Linkin Park had slam riffs in “given up” and “no more sorrow” 😂
Can't believe you didnt include the with you riff thats definitely one of their heaviest! Personal favourite riff and song of theirs
I think One Step Closer was the first breakdown I’ve ever heard in my life. I was like 6 or 7 years old when I first heard it. It wouldn’t be until 10 years later I’d dive back in heavy music. Been over 10 years since that. Thank God for Linkin Park.
I knew the lowest they went was Drop A# for “Somewhere I Belong”, but didn’t know “Don’t Stay” is in Drop B
With You is also in Drop B :)
Actually, Somewhere I Belong is Eb, it's the bass that plays the A# note and Brad and Mike played a bar chord on the two low strings.
With You is actually a standard B with a seven string guitar.

@@b_l4ck Not drop, it's in standard B (7-string originally)
Figure 09 is also drop b
Pepperidge farm remembers
This was exactly the first comment I was hoping for
you win.
not even Andrew remembers The Hunting Party album...
that one doesn't exist what are you talking about
I recently heard someone say it was a "metal album" Is that true? Never gave it a listen. I was over LP after seeing them live in 07
No more sorrow it’s on Drop C# tuning!
It's just okay
to be completely honest I have never listened to that album. I only really know them up till Minutes To Midnight
One Step Closer and No More Sorrow
As much as I loved Hybrid theory and Meteora, their comeback made me appreciate Minutes to Midnight and Thousand Suns.
I personally believe Hunting party was just an album they put out just to shut everyone up about them ditching the original sound.
The With You remix off of Reanimation has my favorite Linkin Park riff. Stupid simple, but very effective in my opinion.
Bro, Reanimation is so fucking good album. Expeimental remixes after just one album... i love all of it.
It's super mean I love it
Such a fun song to play on a 7!string. Simple yet heavy.
Yeah and you HAD to include that tumbnail with LP's latest album, right..
No The Hunting Party is criminal 😩
That 'breakdown' from A Line in the Sand always remind me of Metallica 🤘
And the bridge from The Keys to the Kingdom goes equally hard 🤯
The Hunting Party is 🐐

So glad I had subtitles on for when he was playing One Step Closer
While it's not a heavy moment, when I saw LP in a small stage show back in 1999 their energy was crazy. Chester literally ran around the stage non stop the entire time.
Gotta love bar chords
Munching on the memberberries right now. My first album was Hybrid Theory when I was 11 or so. One Step Closer was indeed the heaviest song ever in my opinion too haha.
I thought I was gonna see "Hit The Floor" in this list. What a shame.
Also a great one
@@BaenaCarcosa great video my dude, keep the good work. Waiting for new Carcosa
When I play the Faint bridge riff, I add two 0 palm mutes during the breaka it makes it so much heavier
My UA-cam is glitching on my PC and the Like button isn't showing (WTF?). I pulled this video up on my phone just so I could hit that thumbs up!
Damn these riffs are sick actually
Hitting that harmonic on Given Up is so fucking satisfying
Dude that carcosa shirt is HARD
Bro QWERTY was so good too!
Anyways love your videos! keep it up!

If I remember correctly, I think No More Sorrow is in Drop C#
loved the video, btw!!
I fucking KNEW this was going to start with "By Myself"
Don't Stay is still one of my favorite songs. They opened with it at a show in like 2007 or so, and the place just erupted.
Only the OGs remember the covers you did with Brian Storm
How in the hell was With You NOT included on the list? Another song of theres thats in Drop B
Also a sick riff I didn’t really think of it oops haha
with you is actually in b standard.
hybrid theory used b standard for "with you" and "runaway"
and in meteora they switched to drop b for 2 songs (dont stay and nobodys listening).
dont mind me im just showing that i dont think i escaped my giant fangirl phase of linkin park since i was 13 lmao
but yeah with you is a pretty fun riff
@@BaenaCarcosa LETS GO PART 2! 😈
These were absolutely perfect picks. Thank you good sir for this video 🤘
Feel at home here! My best sub this year! The guitar content is pioneer! I self taught myself guitar and know nothing but metalcore death core style! lmao LONG LIVE CARCOSA!
didnt watched a video of yours for a long time, but i think your sound improved very very much! gj
A place for my head is in e flat standard, not drop c#
There's something in drop c# songs that I really like
Love me some classic Linkin Park.
SICK SICK SICK BRO! Loved the video! Just like an old school church medley of songs only this church is metal! haha Long live LP!!!
I always felt like I should be embarrassed or something for the simple fact that linkin park breaking the habit music video on mtv2 one day before school.

This brought back such good memories
Dude got all the harmonics in By Myself and From the Inside wrong
Love this
Seeing you without an 8 string in hand is rather peculiar
Meteora was probably their heaviest album, but if you think they lost it, go listen to The Hunting Party then get back to me.
you need to listen to The Hunting Party dawg
linkin park had nice slam riff going
*King of Nu-metal Band.*
I know you can't add all the riffs, but intro riff from "With You" was a must. Also Points of Authority and Forgotten could be included.
Great video!
To answer your question, no I don't remember when they were heavy, it's been so long.

People complain about the reunion and new singer and how they should just stay not active, but I mean, it's not like there was a good album the past 19 years so how can they mess anything up?
The ability to listen to music is wasted on you.
Don't Stay has in my opinion the best LP riff ever, this track is so underrated.
Rebellion. Look it up
Geniaaaal!
love linkin park. started listening to it like 3months ago : )))
i didnt even know they were heavy lol thanks for putting me on
Man i love just how angry No More Sorrow is.
It’s a rip off of sweating bullets my megadeth but still good
Shoulda included A-06. That 57 second demo was nasty
good job
Ohhh the good old days of Lincoln park. Got so many of us old 30 year old into heavy music lol
The Given Up riff is the first one I thought of when I saw the title of this video. Also, I think you picked the wrong riff from A Place for My Head.
Now non heavy LP riffs

Hope some songs on FROM ZERO are heavy
The Hunting Party is one of the heaviest Linkin Park albums, I expected some of its riffs on this video. Nevertheless, great playing and great choices for the riffs
Uh that green Jackson looks sexy! 🔥
No more sorrow in drop c# 💁♂️
“Remember when LP used to be heavy?”
Said no one ever until you…
They have made it their mission since before even hybrid theory released that they were never gonna cage themselves with genres and just do what they want, and you can see that in even their earliest music
I ain’t tryna hate but saying that is a really derogatory statement
Wait a minute. There's a single pickup 8-string behind the grey Ibanez. Have I missed a video or is that something new?
PS LP was a gateway band for me also. Now I'm trying to, slowly, make it worm its way into my toddler's mind.
Hell yeah
You played by myself and no more sorrow wrong though
So, the Thumbnail aged horribly wrong in a matter of weeks? Damn Linkin Park Leaks 🎶

They DID have heavy riffs, underrated probably too...
Point's of authority, am I a joke to you!?
From zero aint even out yet 😭
Also are we just ignoring the hunting party now?
The opening words are exactly on target
Exactly like me, I started with Linkin Park. I also share that the new thing... Taylor swift with guitars😂😂😂
Not having Forgotten is amazing
what guitar and what pickups are you having there @BaenaCarcosa?
Do korn!
Hybrid theory, Meteora and Minutes to midnight are real Linkin park
A Place for my Head is in Eb standard
"Remember when Linkin Park used to be heavy" the only Linkin Park I Remember 😭
What's interesting is I find the drop D riffs heavier than the other downtuned stuff in this video
hybrid theory was the besst and the heaviest of linkin park. \m/
Shocked that With You is not on here.
No more sorrow is in Drop C#
Can I have your guitar
No
@@BaenaCarcosa come on, man... you can do it
Missing their best heavy intro riff: Figure.09
Andrew Baena in a tuning higher than drop A? Unheard off
I blame Shinoda for this course of sound in their music, although i might be entirely wrong and it was a collective decision lol
the whole band wanted to do new stuff not only mike
Bro if you are gonna make a heavy linkin park songs video, you can't ignore the hunting party album. It's actually their heavist album yet
What guitar is this? Normally consider myself pretty on the up and up with brands and stuff, but I’m stumped. Sounds THICC
What about Rebellion with Daron Malakian ?
these drop B riffs aren't make in a Baritone 6 Strings Guitar on B standard?
Weird seeing him with a Les Paul shaped guitar
Imagine if No More Sorrow was in a drop A
