I use the same screw as a guide for the waterline on the skimmer! I learned through trial and error if it gets much higher then water starts splashing out of the pool skimmer. If it gets down to half then pump starts sucking air.
I just purchased an intex deluxe pool skimmer and I had to use the flow restrictor on the 2nd intake line. With the skimmer keep the entire pool clean or do I need to remove the restrictor from time to time to clean suspended particles from the lower levels of the pool?
My above ground pool got over filled above the skimmer and is pouring out of the skimmer now. When I turn pump on it stops gushing water out, but when I turn pump off, it starts gushing water out again. I didn't want pump to run all night tho. I'm not sure what to do now. Just leave pump on 24/7 till water dissipates or just turn pump off and let water continue pouring out until water levels out? Help new pool owner here lol my pool is not a sand filter. It's just a cartridge type.

Has anyone ever drilled a hole in back of skimmer housing and added a small drain hose to keep water from reaching maximum level???? I've run out between storms to drain high levels. Seems feasible but just asking.. Thanks

I would just siphon an inch of water out of the pool with your garden hose and you'll be back in business.

what happens if it is covering the skimmer?
It would be fine. You can't overfill an above ground pool because it pours out the skimmer if it gets too high.
