Very interesting video. I have been wondering if it was possible to keep the pool up during winter. Would love to have seen the first reveal when you open it back up in the Spring. Thanks for posting 👍
Nice work, but: That chlorine floater may be crushed by the ice. Also you don’t need new sand every year. Sand lasts 5 years or so. :-) Lastly you want the cover on the water after coming off the winter pillow The surface tension of the water to keeps the cover from getting caught by the wind. Otherwise I love your install and those clips are great! I would put the cable on the outside of the long runs, not the short runs. Again - wind.
been watching your pool videos and just wanted to say thank you lol makes it nice and easy will you be doing a pool opening up/setting up after winter ready for summer ?
My most recent setup was when I installed this same filter. I also have a pool chemical video from my initial pool setup video, though I haven’t made a specific “spring opening” type of video. Intex Sand Filter Pump Complete Setup and Review ua-cam.com/video/69atemJSmZw/v-deo.html
Great video. I been tearing down my fitmax pool for the winter. Now I am old. Not doing set uo again. I thought keeping ph right would keep algae from growing?
I was told to drain below both outlets, and remove my plunger valves, for winter, because other people had theirs freeze and crack! Mine is an 18 x 48, so I’ve been doing that, out of fear of them cracking. My small intex blowup pool that I use to have, It came with plugs, , I never drained it, just removed the hoses, and put the pump away, i did that for at least 6 years with it, now I have this bigger one. (Grandkids got bigger) there are no plugs , so I lower the water?? It’s what I was told?
You could drain below the valve and remove them if you are afraid they’ll crack. You’ll just have more water to drain off the cover in the spring. To me a pair of plunger valves are about $13 on Amazon and I’d rather have less water to drain off the top in the spring then deal with replacing the parts later on the small chance they do crack.
Since I put valves on the inlets and outlets and can close those holes I kept my pool full with about 1 square on the liner showing. And the clips really aren’t necessary. Just leave a bit of slack in the top cover so that any snow or water that collects won’t stretch the cover to the point of tearing, then you can use a hose to siphon off the water from the top of the cover in the spring. I’m in northwest Indiana near Chicago and left mine up all last winter with no issues.
So the plunger valves did not freeze and crack? I just put the black stoppers in my 2 inlets, I am worrying about the discharge plunger/aerator freezing and cracking in WNY.
There is always the possibility that the plunger valves could crack. You could take them off and use the black stoppers if you’d like. I’m leaving mine on and then if they are cracked in the spring I’ll pick up 2 new ones on Amazon for $10 each. amzn.to/3QrmFEx
I didn't know you can leave an intex out for the winter. I just ordered a 12x30 and im curious to know if i can do this or just disassemble it after the summer.
Did you just add your mulch right over the foam board ? I’m debating how to do this. We did the foam board like you did with pavers level to the foam board. I want to add rock or something around the pool but don’t want to remove the foam between each leg. Did you cut more foam out or just lay it on top and then around the legs ?
Do you have a video from around around 55 seconds where you clean the pool with that black thing? Never thougt about that. I only used the net to clean the pool.
Most helpful pool video I've seen yet! Everything was so clearly shown and explained. Thank you!
I had to subscribe to get the clip links. I hope those are the right ones. I ordered the clips. My cover always falls off and in the pool every year.
Found this videos useful in closing our pool. Hoping for better results when we open next year. Thank you for the video

Thanks for the tips. I’ll definitely be including some of these when closing my pool again this year.
Question - don't the plunger valves get damaged by the freezing and thawing over the winter?
The pillow does a better job and will last longer if you don't inflate it all the way, maybe only 2/3 way inflated.

Hello. What size is your pool? I have a 15 by 48 what size cover would you recommend?
Thanks helpful
How low did you drain the pool. We get heavy snow here so the lack might be good I’m guessing. First time leaving mine up. I’m in chicago.

I'm in Indiana close to Indy. Is that a Intex cover

I just covered everything with mulch.
Your Snap clips. You sure they are for 1/2 PVC pipe? That seems a little small for an intex pool frame.
I believe they are 1.5” clips.

5:19 looks like the pool comes up to your thighs, are you on a platform on that side?
No, it’s just a 30 inch tall pool.
Valves will explode
Yep. I leave them in but I use the black stoppers to keep water out of them, that plastic with water in it will freeze and bust
It was $17.60 for the one (1) clip and I need 30......what😂 lol you get 10 per pack😅
Yeah the clips are nice but unfortunately they aren’t cheap.
