    I am now on my 2nd above ground pool since 1997. I have a timer on my pool set to cut on at 10:00am and shuts down at 4:00pm from April until sometime in Sept. I use 3in tablets in my skimmer which i check on a regular basis to insure my chlorine stays at the proper level. I check my levels weekly with my test kit and make any adjustments needed, occasionally i have to adjust the PH levels due to rain or heavy bather use. I keep a bottle of Clairfier handy as i may have to add a very small about especially after we have had a pool party(usually 20 or so people). I try to insure that no one uses swimsuits that have been use in the local Coosa River because of the bacteria. Generally i have to vaccum about 1 time a week. I love our pool and take great care to insure we can swim in crystal clear clean water. i do use a fountain from time to time in the Hot summer months to keep the water temp at a comfortable 85 degrees. i am in the process of building a Solar Pool heater so we can enjoy our pool much longer. We live off I 20 about 60 miles from Birmingham Alabama so.

    I appreciate all your training videos and links. I trust your company more than I've ever trusted our local pool supply store. Therefore, reaching out to you. I've not been able to find an answer on your videos or website as of yet and too much time is passing. Our sandfilter pump return has practically no pressure. The one video I watched of yours explained that replacing the sand could help with this. I've did so two days ago and the pressure is still weak. It starts of excellent and powerful. Within 15 minutes, it's back to practically nothing. Good pressure will return after I back wash and rinse, but it's only a temporary fix. I've cleaned the leaf basket and hoses, adjusted the hose positions and all resolve the pressure problem for only minutes. My motor seems to be running just fine. Can you help please?? This is an intex sand filter. We've owned for about 4 seasons. Thank you!

      The pump must be sucking air from somewhere. It could be a loose hose for a bad gasket on the lid of your pump or even a low water level.

    We run our pp 24 hrs a day. The store we bought it from recommended it. It has a high and low. Some people say run on high during the day and low at night. Some.say to only run on high when vacuuming. or.adding chemicals. But.i have found when I run it on low the majority of the time..My pool does not stay as clean. It.just doesn't circulate as much.

    Thank you for the video, this is my first time owning an above ground pool(15x30) with a 2800 gph sand filter and a SW system, I only use the pool on the weekends, I’m assuming I still have to run it everyday? I’d appreciate you input.
    Thanks

    Also for my 15x30 oval.. How do I get my Th and CyA balanced? All my other chemicals are balanced and good but can't seem to get these ones right..

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  9 років тому

      Fridge760 You should just have to get your water tested and add the right amount of each into the water. It's fairly that simple.

    I have a 33 X 54 above ground pool about 25,000 gallons. The pump is a two speed two horsepower pump. I was thinking leaving the pump run on low speed 24/7 and on high speed when the pool is in use or when running the pool cleaner. What's your thoughts on this idea?

      I just got the same pool installed 1 week ago. When I put the pump on low speed it runs for about 30 seconds then clicks off. I tried to put it back on high right after and it didnt immediately turn on. Then, after it rests a few minutes it comes back on. When I put it on low, is it supposed to click on and off? Just wondering if I got a bad pump. Thanks

    • @abovegroundpros

      If you power to the pump is correct then i would guess its a bad pump.

    I'm a pool rookie with an above ground salt water pool that came with the house I just purchased. The water level is low by about a foot from the skimmer screws in your other video. I'll be refilling it with city water and will I need to add more salt or other chemicals?

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  6 років тому

      Probably so. I would recommend you take your water to a pool store and let him test it so that you can see what chemicals you may need.

    • @abovegroundpros

      You may want to check your alkalinity level because if your alkalinity level is really high it's going to keep you from allowing your pH to lower itself.

    I currently have a timer that I have set to run for four hours and rest for four hours, repeating throughout the day. It adds up to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Should I be running it for more hours at a time? Resting for fewer hours? I welcome your suggestions.

    15x30 oval pool.. I work during the week 12-9pm.. You think I should run the filter all day while I am at work? Does this effect the life of pump running all day? Over heating?

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  9 років тому +2

      Fridge760 That's sound right. No, it will not effect the pump. If you understand how a pump motor works, it doesn't matter how long or short you run it as far as the life of the pump is concerned.

    I have had a 24x12x52 for 6 seasons in Alabama. The key is the chemicals. I get the chemical balance right within the first week of setting up in the spring (and maintain chemical balance all summer) I run the pump 24/7 the first week or so while setting it up and never need to run it again unless I am vacuuming the bottom or to get it to skim debris off the surface. Bottom line I run it about 10 hours per WEEK tops!

      When people are swimming in the pool they act like a spoon stirring the water up and you actually get your best circulation.

      @@abovegroundpros Hi, what do you think about safety of people swimming while the pump is running, concerning it is an electrical machine? (It is really frustrating that the manuals are full of warnings, and you don't know what is there just for juridical reasons and non-relevant , and what is accurate in real life..)
      Is it safe to run a pump when raining? The place you put the cord in (socket in English?) is a proper and protected one and meant yo be used outside and with sand pumps.
      P.s. Thank you for these videos!

    why do i have to much suction when i vacumn my pool

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  8 років тому

      +Sharon Merchant Let me guess your situation: If you are having your vacuum stick to the liner as you are vacuuming, then this is not a problem with the pump pressure, it is caused by the brushes of your vacuum being too weak and causing it to suck to the bottom of the floor. You'll have to get a new vacuum head with stiffer brushes.

    my pump just went out and I have a new one on the way.. so my water is going to be still for about 2 days.. should i put some shock in it?? or what can I do to keep it from getting algae..

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  9 років тому

      JIMMY JAMES If your chlorine level was good before the pump went out then the pool should be fine for only two days. Putting chlorine in the water without moving the water really isn't going to do anything.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  5 років тому

      Yes you can. You actually get the best circulation when you're in the pool store in the water up. I would recommend that you run the pump while you swim.

      Above Ground Pros one more thing and I’ll leave you alone. I put up a brand new pool with a real small leak at the seam so almost impossible to patch on a seam. Summer waves wants me to cut out a part of the pool and send it in for a new liner. First I had to fill it 7 inches before I could even know of the leak along with all the work. What can I use to seal a small leak in the seam? Is the pool still structurally safe though. I’m only losing about a 32 ounce cup worth of water a day.
