    Our 13 yr old came out trans, ftm, out of the blue. We didn’t buy it. She did it anyway, becoming a narcissistic, cruel manipulator. My husband and I were in agreement, but the despair nearly split us up. We had to board her with another family because we couldn’t handle the strife. We needed to protect our other kids.
    We emancipated her at 17; paid for her to live in an apartment alone. She’s 20 now, has chosen no contact, we still pay her rent. She’s autistic, and we we’d rather pay than think of how she’d get by. She has a job of some kind, since we pay for nothing else. It’s been 2 years with no contact.
    We rediscovered our faith, have a stronger marriage than ever and a wonderful relationship with our 2 remaining kids. We are unbelievably grateful for them. We both had to rebuild our confidence as parents.
    It took 5 years, every stage of grief, to let her go. Still feels like a ghost limb on our hearts. There are no guarantees in parenthood.

    Can I point out that the women objecting to the breast feeding male were largely objecting to the fact that his “milk” has none of the nourishment qualities of ordinary women’s breast milk and that that man was putting his needs before those of a vulnerable infant who would be, as a consequence starved of proper nutrients, antibodies etc. It was the narcissism in him that put his needs before the child’s. Also, there is a move now for damaged infants to be acceptable in society in order that the women transitioning to male can continue to take testosterone whilst pregnant which alters the formation and function of the placenta through which the foetus is nourished. The notion is in order for “men” I.e. trans men I.e. women on testosterone, to experience “motherhood” equally with women, society should accept infants/children with damage because “perfect” babies is too high a standard to reach for and really isn’t necessary. Thalidomide anyone?

    Thank you for offering this discussion. I feel my daughter falls into the category of “I’m not totally sure but feel stuck so I’m just gonna do it to move forward with my life.” And since she’s over 18 I can’t stop her anymore.
    I’m not seeing this really discussed in terms of peer pressure. And that’s what I’m seeing at play here. Like many trans-identifying youth my daughter is “high functioning” autistic and finally found her peer group, and of course she wants to fit in and prove herself. Taking T in this context is another version of taking drugs because of peer pressure. Unfortunately that process is now fully facilitated by doctors and therapists and much of society.

      Autistic children are particularly vulnerable to this trans trend. I have a child who is also autistic but is fortunate because they don't have friends who have any interest in it. My heart really goes out to you. Doctors and therapists who participate in this need to be held to account one day because there is now enough evidence now that transitioning children with rapid onset gender dysphoria has little or no positive benefits. In countries like Sweden they have dramatically shifted their approach because of this. We know as adults that at 18, they are still really children - especially those with autism.

    I grew up in the late 2000 to early 2010 when I graduated high school. I was extremely gender nonconforming. And just as you say, when I hit my mid 20s I began to accept who I am as a man. I’m very thankful because my family was always accepting of me, I would not be who I am today without my conservative centrist family. It truest does worry me that if I were to go through the same thing I a time like this, that I would have also transitioned. I considered transition in high school, but realized I actually love my body for what it is. Kids need time to figure themselves out. Without anyone, including family, trying to actively endorse this trans ideology.

    Yes, can confirm that more and more parents are now starting to question the "diagnosis" of gender dysphoria and the actions that they have been coerced into medicalising their children. These parents are really badly emotionally damaged now too, so we have to lean in with love to them and not judge past behaviour if they are truly out of the cult, just as we do with desisters and detransitioners.

    • @pseudonamed
      @pseudonamed Рік тому +3

      yeah, a lot of parents knew nothing about all of this until their child suddenly comes out as trans. Then they're scrambling to learn about it and there are so many people acting as authorities on the topic that will scare them into supporting total affirmation and medical transition. They fear their child will unalive themselves if they don't. There are psychologists and doctors that will assure them this is the only way, and they'll assume the research must back it up otherwise they wouldn't say that, right?

      It's not that many do or don't have G/D its that they're are different forms of it and they are not actually checking for a history of it . G/D is a real thing but what causes it may not be permanent, if you are very GNC though that does not just change one day , irrelevant being gay or not but almost all very GNC children are attracted to the same sex, the assumption by Alasdair is you must live "as gay" which is nonsense. Doing physical activities helps one center into their body but exercising is sadly becoming more rare as many isolate themselves on their phone and internet, especially when they get stuck in questioning themselves. I think some of the mental anguish and frustration people feel can be diminished with proper exercise, if you also do group trainings then that's a real social experience too! 💖

      that question might have been more pertinent 10 years ago. but at this point "the machine" is self-sustaining with so many internet forums dedicated to the cause. the power of moderation on the internet to shape the message and deny counter-content is everything.
      in the past when there was really only print media and television, this level of sustained social contagion was nowhere near as easy to set in motion.
      nowadays these messages can proliferate (forever) in 'security through obscurity' among the vastness of the internet. the proliferation of smartphones turned the internet into the greatest "double-edged sword" humans have ever invented.

      They can’t say “stop, there’s a problem here”.
      They just give it a new name and say “oops it happens suddenly now”.
      There’s no coincidence that when you label something and make it a fad, kids will join it.
      Kind of like with “depression”.
      Now if somebody is having a bad day the solution is a pill because they are pathological for having a bad day.

      You're right. We should even further deconstruct and atomize what it is to be a woman and to be a man. I'm sure that'll make things better. If you ask me, all of human beings throughout history are wrong. But people like me and you, hey, we got it figured out. Am I right?

      Humans are not blank slates, but sexually, the majority have wide variation in their attraction, and it can be hijacked by environments and exposure to sexually deviant content at developmental stages, which can shape ones sexuality and self conception.

    Oh hell no I wouldn’t cave to this ever. I would tell my kid their delusional & need mental help. I would lay it out plainly “you will be medical patient for the rest of your life” you will be in pain for the rest of your life. Accept the body God gave you. I wouldn’t care if my kid hated me threaten suicide you name it. I would stand my ground no matter what.

    Aren't we all kind of wishing that the fathers would all come with pitch forks and run these people out of the villiage? I am. That's what I'd want to do. I agree with Alistair that it's best to have both the father and mother with the family but if the parents are same-sex I do believe that as long as there are opposite sex rolemodels all should be well. Gay boys need traditionally masculine gay male rolemodels. All we see is the efiminate gay man flitting about, weak etc not the reality of what being a gay man is which is just normal, strong and capable.

    33:00 the mothers feel suicidal.
    That's because the mother is losing the primary position of molding & shaping & controlling the son. Many mothers threaten suicide to regain stronger control over their sons. It's called trauma-bonding

      Control and influence shifts drastically over night for our families. Many of us parents are over engaged and some of this desire to transition or adopt a new identity is natural individuating through very maladaptive means - being encouraged and concretized all around us. Trauma bonding and/ or true fear for your child’s long term health and well being? As well as having your own beliefs turned upside down- the grief - the gaslighting - it’s just not so simple as to ascribe one theory. Be careful not to simplify this.

    • @OrwellsHousecat
      @OrwellsHousecat Рік тому +1

      @@MyriamRichardsdotter they do it to both sons & daughters, but more to sons because boys show more signs of independence & difference which the mother interprets as existential threat.
      Sometimes, the kid does it back to the mother saying that the kid is suicidal unless it gets what it wants (does that sound familiar from the current discourse?).
