  • Im so excited and happy with how this enclosure turned out!! Titan has been non stop exploring it even though he is in full shed mode, blinded by his cloudy blue eyes. He LOVES it!!
    Next up on the to do list for upgrades is going to be my corn snake Tesla. Shes growing super fast and loves exploring and being out all the time. I think its time I upgrade her from her growout bin very soon! Stay tuned.
    Enclosure: Exo Terra 36x18x12 (L x W x H)
    Thanks for watching, I hope I gave you some ideas on ways you can setup and enrich your ball pythons enclosure.

      Actually, that's partially untrue. As long as you use a lot of coverage, foliage and hides smaller Python's can be put in a larger home. Just have to really make it secure for them to not be stressed out (ie/ 2 rocks and a couple dishes wouldn't work, but this set up would)

    Do you wet the moss to bring up humidity or do you just rely on the room humidity and soil? Is that rooms humidity set higher or just the average humidity for any room in your house?

    • @ThatsSoReptii
      @ThatsSoReptii  3 роки тому

      The room is average humidity, for my snakes and lizard that need higher humidity I individually mist their enclosures. As for my ball python, yes i mist down the moss mostly as it helps retain and raise the humidity in the enclosure

    With all that substrate and on top of it being moist, how high do you have to raise the temperature on the thermostat for the temp to get in the 85 to 90 degrees while keeping it 75 degrees plus on the cool side?

    • @ThatsSoReptii
      @ThatsSoReptii  3 роки тому +1

      Since i used those dry block eco earth substrate it did end up a little more on the wet side humidity wise. For the first couple of days I let the substrate dry out to a more acceptable humidity range.
      In the beginning the heating pad was having a hard time getting up to temp, but as it dried out the heat pad was able to reach the max temp set with no problem.
      Since it is a large enclosure with a rather small heat pad I did add a ceramic heat emitter to the top of the enclosure which provides another hot spot/ basking area

      For this enclosure i used a heat pad on the left side in the back corner and then since its a big enclosure and my room temp fluctuates i added a 75watt ceramic heat emitter on the right side front of the tank. The heat pad & lamp are connected to temperature controllers!
      The heat pad is on 24/7 and the heat lamp is only on at night

    Just found your channel this enclosure looks awesome. I just got my first snake 2 weeks ago and still learning. Any advice on when a young snake should poop after eating? She is between 4 and 5 months old. Has eaten once for me and left a pile of white urates for me 4 days later but haven't seen any actual feces yet her feeding day is today should I feed her or wait for a poo?

    • @ThatsSoReptii
      @ThatsSoReptii  3 роки тому +3

      Usually they pass a full meal in around 7 days, but I would still feed even though your snake hasnt passed its last meal. There is no harm in feeding today and testing to see if in a couple more days the previous meal comes out. Dont worry too much, but if in a week or so she still hasnt passed anything id suggest a warm water soak, or even a handling session (often snakes will poop on you while you handle them). Good luck with your new snake 🐍!

    • @ThatsSoReptii
      @ThatsSoReptii  3 роки тому +1

      I dont know if I showed it in this video (probably forgot) but I added an infrared heat bulb on the opposite side of the enclosure to bump the ambient heat up. I use the thermal controller from zoo med to make sure the enclosure doesnt get too hot from both the heat pad and the heat bulb.
      You may be correct though I think if I was only using a heat pad he may develop a Ri but then again it depends on where you live and the temperature of your house/ room.
      Good luck with your setup!

    Hi what type of heat mat shall I use

    • @nightinggale6470
      @nightinggale6470 2 роки тому

      Heat mats are not a good heat source. A halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer or dimming thermostat is the most natural and beneficial heat source during the day. For ball pythons, a ceramic heat emitter is good for nighttime heat.

    • @ThatsSoReptii
      @ThatsSoReptii  3 роки тому

      It’s okay don’t worry! Super cloudy, even bluish eyes are completely normal around shedding time! They will eventually go back to normal, and within 1-2 days of them going back to normal your snake will shed its skin and the process will be done!
      The shedding process usually takes 1-2 weeks total from the beginning (which commences with the bluish, cloudy eyes).
      Just to be sure, how long have your snakes eyes been clouded for? Were they clouded back in october when she stopped eating as well? If so, a over 2 months of being in the “blue phase” or cloudy eye phase is not normal.
      Most snakes can go off of feed for 6 months or longer. I wouldn’t worry about your snakes feeding for now, just make sure he/she is able to push out of that shed, and once they are out they will certainly gain their appetite back

      Id put a male in a 4 foot enclosure and personally I would say it could work. Many breeders dont even give their ball pythons 2 foot enclosures but if you put a lot of enrichment in the 4 foot enclosure In my opinion you will have a happy healthy snake.
