Watching this series, has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster. When we lived in Hong Kong, my husband and I, he used to fly back to Head Office in London, and then on to a destination for meetings. I believe there were 2 visits to The Isle of Wight. He said he would love to take us there one day. We never made it. I have loved this tour, thank you so much. Hope you are both over the lurgy, and feeling a lot more settled after your decision to take a break from van hunting. I am settled for a year in a caravan park, right now in the middle of a storm, it's COLD.
Glad you enjoyed what we could show you of the Isle of Wight. We are both much better now and ready to continue the new van hunt. Stay warm and safe ❤️
The end of another wonderful series. It quite took me back to my childhood and our family holidays on the Isle of White in the fifties. A request please, can you give the name of the free wheeling music you use at the start and end of the episodes, so fitting for your videos. Thank you Ken and Carol.
Glad to see you visited Steephill Cove. Back in the 60s and 70s it used to be owned and run by one family whose name I can`t remember. Also the lovely botanical gardens was originally the site of a very large TB hospital where patients were sent to benefit from the sea air. The original Fighting Cocks was just a cottage where an old lady served beer from a trestle table in the living room. How times have changed but the Island remains a lovely place to visit.
Hi Carol and Ken, yet another great adventure, brings back memories of siting in that car park in 1973 as a 12 year old with my mum and dad, waiting to catch the ferry. I could be wrong but if my memory serves me correctly, in those days you turned up and took your chance on getting on, I think we had to wait for the second ferry of the morning as there was no bookings. 1973 was my first time on a plane and overseas to UK and Europe, cheers, Garry from DownUnder
We've enjoyed the trip. Mind you as for that chair lift! Thanks for taking us along with you. Looking firward to your next adventure in The Little Red Camper 🙂🐕🚙
Thankyou both, i have enjoyed this series of video's i have put a few comments on as the videos have gone out..happy memories along the way...sorry it has come to an end..thankyou for taking me with you..
Great little chain ferry. Nice drone shot of it. Beautiful weather you had. Very shy lizards. You did very well to capture them. Did you like the hot crab ? 🦀 😂. Lovely Isle of Wight trip. Great series. Thanks
This was really nice to watch! I grew up on the island and left as a young man in the late 90s. I've lived all over the world and I'm in Budapest right now as I write this but I miss the island so much. I go back to visit my mum and every time it pains me to leave more every year but as you pointed out in this video, half a million for a home on the island is crazy. There are some cheaper places but I certainly couldn't justify the cost of a place anywhere near my mum to look after her in her old age. The weekend home and retirement property market does some good to resurrect a dead (once thriving) tourist destination but unfortunately it also does other damage socially with young local people leaving and unable to ever return. The derelict hotels you showed on Sandown seafront, soon to be replaced by shiny new expensive retirement apartments and weekend homes for the rich is some improvement of sorts but there has to be a better way. Anyway, thanks again for the video, you captured the island perfectly 😊
I couldn’t agree more with your thoughts. I would far rather the homes were full of locals with a thriving town centre and amenities. Of course the rich want their sea view but it’s killing so many holiday destinations which become ghost towns in the winter.
Really enjoyed revisiting IOW through you and your lovely videos. Ive a record of all our trips in book form from an online blog I used to keep, to have had them in video form now would’ve been wonderful. The memories you’re making and recording are so precious ❤️
Brilliant, thank you, Carol and Ken, lots of ideas for our next trip to the Isle of Wight. We're just back from an autumn road trip to Gloucestershire and Somerset. Take both of you, looking forward to news on your choice of new campervan. Cheers, Janet xx
Thank you for this. You filled in some of the gaps of places I missed, and reminded me of those I really enjoyed. I found the Wightlink ferry really easy to use. The Isle of Wight is well worth another visit. ilona
I’m have enjoyed this visit, as I did two stints on the Island 75 and 85, and it has a unique attraction to it, I now live outside Pompey , and still see it every day, thanks for the vlogs
Thoroughly loved this trip/series, so pleased you managed to get to Steephill Cove, its a relatively hidden gem. Shocked at the price to get into the botanical gardens, it was free for many years, as been mentioned, it falls on the site of an old hospital, my father had to spend many visits/stays due to asthma but many years ago. I must try the Masala indian, have walked past it on my visits to the town, but didnt realise how good it was. A big thankyou to you both.
Been worried about you two! Glad to hear you’re on the mend and looking forward to when you well enough for the next big adventure. Be well! All the very best from Georgia ❤
Yes, I remember the flower pot men but my favourite was The Woodentops. Thanks for another wonderful series…..I boysit a very active 7 year old every Friday and once he’s settled in bed I watch your vlogs. They’re my treat!
Love you videos and i love the isle of wight I've been going to the island almost every year of my life. Besafe and can't wait to watch all your other exciting things you both get upto.
So glad you both enjoyed the beautiful Isle of Wight, can’t wait for you to return in your new campervan thanks for sharing everything with us take care both of you 👍
I started watching you when you visited Norway, where we live. Loved your holiday there. Now I enjoyed your trip to the Isle of Wight! We fell in love with the island 20 years ago and have been coming there ever since. Thanks for taking us along on your holiday again🌻
Glad you liked our island, we have lived here for over 40 years on and off but we won`t be moving off again. Your visits to the local attractions actually spurred me on to take my wife to visit some of them as we`ve never been to a lot of them 😂.
It’s often the case that you don’t visit the tourist attractions in your local area. There are lots of places in Sussex we have never been to in the 38 years we’ve lived here ☺️
Thank you for taking us along with the Isle of Wight tour. We went on a coach holiday to Isle of Wight stayed at Shanklin, coach trips to Cowes, Ventnor and really enjoyed it all. We said we would go back but still haven't that was 10 years ago, perhaps one day!!
We have loved watching you both on the Island. My Father was born in Shanklin so we went there for holidays to visit family at least twice a year as children. 🙂💙🙂 We love watching all of your videos but these have been some of the best in our opinion along with your Sussex ones. 🙂💙🙂 Glad you are both feeling better 🙂💙🙂
Thanks for sharing such an enjoyable series of videos. We had no idea that there was so much to see and do - so have now added the IoW to our ‘places to visit’ list 👍
I have absolutely loved these vlogs of the Isle of White, my good lady wants to go and hopefully we will be getting a van soon so could be a road trip.
As usual a relaxing and enjoyable jaunt. Just a pleasant morning wakeup visual prior to trip into town (Gore, today) for shopping. This weekend is a national holiday weekend (labour weekend), usually bad weather, but seems we might have some Isle of Wight weather for a change, unfortunately means gardening & lawns. Looking at the various buses in this current venture, I wonder where tourism is regarding post COVID times in the UK? Here in NZ, we are about 50% recovered tourism levels from pre COVID, fuel costs are currently preventing lots of internal travels. Kia Ora, take care & stay safe guys. 💜💜
Very much enjoy the IOW series, and so pleased to read you’re both feeling much better. This visit to Cowes reminded me of a favourite childhood joke.. “Herd of Cows”. yes, it’s on the Isle of Wight. (don’t all laugh at once!) 😳thanks Carole and Ken looking forward to the next video as always

The opening scene of the animation pointing to the ferry via google earth is fabulous with BGM, 007 style.
