It breaks my heart to see how many gorgeous draughts are discarded like garbage.... especially by the Amish who are famous for working them nearly to death and dropping them at auction. It's so cruel...I shouldn't watch this, it just kills me. 😭 When I was young we saved a gorgeous boy literally off the slaughter truck. Another 5 minutes and we would have missed him. He was an amazing horse!!

The sadness and defeat in their eyes is so obvious and heartbreaking. How can a human being do this to these majestic animals. Raise them for slaughter, abuse, neglect. There has to be a special place in hell for people like this. Bless you for what you do, and thank you, especially, for showing us what the horses experience when they first arrive in their new home. I've visited other 'rescue' sites, but they don't show the horses initial fear, nervousness and gradual calming when they realize they are safe and loved.
The auction broke my heart and teared up terribly. The equine industry needs to change and fast.... People needs to be more accountable and responsible with their animals.
Some of these horses were so underfed, limping, and tired to such an extent that I just wept. Thank you for being there for these angels.

Ok, this one brought me to tears twice. Once when you showed SO MANY HORSES at the auction, knowing you could only save a few. And again when they came off the trailers and realized they were in a good place with food and water and they could roll in the snow and relax and just be horses. 💙

I BEG YOU, BEG you to help pass the SAFE act to help protect horses, mules and donkeys from slaughter! California passed this YEARS AGO! What our equine who end up in the slaughter pipeline suffer is DISGUSTING! IT'S BARBARIC and it is WRONG! PLEASE get this across the FINNISH LINE once and for all! Otherwise, I DARE you to attend ANY auction/slaughter pipeline in the US! You won't wait a minute longer once you do!
Be a champion for these companion animals who DESPERATELY NEED this LEGISLATION!

I just loved seeing all these babies get rescued! I don’t know how y’all are able to keep from your hearts breaking when you see all of them at auction ! We are blessed to have people like you that can save at least some of them. It’s wonderful that you see things in them that people don’t appreciate and you rescue them! Sad to see so many babies at the auction. Seems like someone is purposely breeding for horse meat if they just keep doing it. So nice to see you were able to save a few from a sad end. I hope they all do well at Pony Tales and then find incredible, loving, forever homes. That is so funny that they thought that huge draft horse was a one year old. lol

Thank you guys so much for doing what many can’t. This video just rips my heart out. If the situation was reversed and these auctions were full of people in all various states of health lined up to only end up as slaughtered kill the world would revolt SO WHY WHY does the world stand by and condone this type of appalling treatment. This is 2023 people and so many things have evolved but the manner in which we treat horses is still barbaric this makes me so embarrassed to be a human being at times. This episode was hard to watch, so many horses needing love but you got your babies and they definitely needed you. The blind standardbred is so beautiful, so trusting and gentle. It’s so sad that he ended up at an auction instead of being treated with respect by his last owners. It broke my heart but I know he is in the best hands now. He deserves a cosy rug and so many cuddles, he’s beautiful. They all are. Thank you for saving them.🙏🏻

Absolutely heart wrenching - to think of all the auction barns in the USA and to know people intentionally breed them to sell for slaughter is beyond belief. Cruel and evil people that abuse and misuse any animal, and those semi drivers are just as cold. These people will answer for their evil deeds.

The auction was so heartbreaking, to see all the babies there! And so many dumped horses. So glad these nine precious lives could be saved. My heart is especially with Bismarck. It’s amazing how well behaved he was as a blind horse in a completely new environment! Excited for the next episode, you guys did an amazing job with this one again!

Wow, that was a lot of horses crammed into that building. Most of them, especially the really young ones looked so sad and worn out. At least some got saved. Great work all of you do.💜💙💜

My heart was broken when you showed the slaughter truck. I just cant believe these truckers/transporters are able to look at them self’s in the mirror. How can someone be involved in this pure Evil? The horses are so sick and there tortured from the time they enter, a transporters truck. Absolutely breaks my heart.

I had a friend, she is since passed, who was an independent tractor trailer driver. One of the few women of her age. She frequently drove livestock, and arrived at the auction ready to pull a trailer that was pre loaded. It had always been cattle in the past. This one time it was horses. She said she cried the whole way to Texas. She never drove for that auction house again, because they couldn’t garuntee her it would be cattle to a feedlot and not horses to slaughter. It was a loss to her, because she was independent, and they were regular customers. She had nightmares about it for years.

We've got a LOT of drafts up here in Vermont. It breaks my heart that they end up tossed away into the slaughter pipeline like this, they're such gentle giants. But I'm glad these ones got rescued, and a few other rescues saved the drafts as well...

Fun fact. The reason draft horses have short tails, they dock them so when they are in the harness, they don't tangle..like on log chains, plows, etc. It's not for looks, they dock the tail. If un docked they have long tails like other horses.
Such a shame they can't tie the tails up somehow to prevent tangling, the horses need their tails for swishing off the flies in the summer. ..🐎

Not all of them were sent to another auction but some were. All of the horses we rescued are remaining at our shelter until they are hopefully able to find new homes.

We have one! We'll see what winter has to say about hardly any snow to get stuck in though. Lol

Interesting - the hitch is in the truck bed
That is called a gooseneck hitch.
Fifth wheel (similar to a big truck) or goose neck trailers have the hitch plate in the back of a pickup.

I live back long lane. I use old hay and put it down for traction. And it works a man plowing my lane got stuck. And his truck walked out. He couldn't believe it.
Get a sled and pull it. I used a sled for bales of hay.
When I was Farm sitting for someone who had over 35 friesians purebred ones and their shit was so bad so shoddy it made winter unbearable and I was on my own

Surprised with the amount of snow u have that u don't have a snow blower - not that expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A snow blower will not remove ice underneath the snow.
While its sad that those people breed just to bring the babies to the auction, I'd rather deal with a not halter broke weanling/yearling, than one that is 5-10 and not halter broke. I have a race horse background and we halter broke the babies from day 1, but after weaning, they got turned out for a year other than for trims and vet care. 1 time we got a 4 year old that had not been halter broke at all and had never had any vet care or farrier care in for training and the owner wanted his in race in ready shape in 2 months. Owner didn't like us saying that IF we could do XYZ by September (and we got him in January) if his feet were good by October, he could maybe run on the last race day of the year!!
this is how rescues should go, Horse Plus used to rescue like this, they getting so big, i think the caring is lacking there. love you guys

Gosh Dang I wish I were closer to you or RICH enough to send a trailer! I rescued two draft crosses from a farm in New York 20 yrs ago. Mare 1/2 perch, her bro 1/2 perch. And a QH paint. 8 months old from kill pens in North and South Dakota. I wish I could grab two more of the babies you’ve got in the suction. I’m down here near Horse Plus Humane in Tennessee. How much do they charge at the auction.

I wish you had cut out the political billboard. The only politics you should be talking about or showing are the ones in relation to the horses you're rescuing. Politics otherwise are toxic. Some are so die-hard about it that they won't donate because by showing it, you're saying I agree with this billboard.
