  • The Tales from the Tundra continue as the latest auction rescue saves are seen by our vet and farrier. The weather goes from nice to deadly and we receive a couple awesome donations.
    Strudel makes it quite clear that we need our own x-ray machine as the clinic no longer has the staff to conduct timely x-rays, if any at all. We have set up the GoFundMe here: www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-he...
    to help raise funds for this very expensive, but much needed equipment. If you can help, no amount is ever too small.
    Thank you all for watching!

    Your videos are so amazing! Your farrier for sure is going to farrier Heaven one day 😅 As is Dr Jim - vet Heaven. He is so kind and thorough with the horses. And they all so deserve their second chance at life! I am keeping my thumbs crossed for all of them to be able to go to wonderful new homes, but especially for sweet Bismarck! You are all doing such amazing work - especially with these weather conditions!

    Your farrier is worth his weight in gold!! Seriously!! Most of the ones I've known in my life time wouldn't even work on drafts, much less the difficult ones without having them tranquilized. As the saying goes, he "takes a licking and keeps on ticking". And how cool that he has so much draft experience and knowledge to draw on. I'm glad he and Doc were there for pizza. Those guys deserve good treats 😊.
    And to spread the compliments around...you all are SUCH a great team. Your videos are so enjoyable to watch because the whole atmosphere is so relaxed and easy going with no drama. You just handle things and keep going. And that's all the more commendable because you're up against such challenges with the weather and making do with some things that you'd wish were already more how you wanted them. You're all doing a fabulous job.
    Take care and have a good week!! 🥰 ♥️ 🤗

Both he and your Vet are so thourough, soft spoken to the horses, with love and concern for all that has happened and for the best one can do. They are both such great profis. The atmosphere is so relaxed no matter what. Great vibes going there.What a great invention pizza was lol. Just love your videos and all you do, there is never a dull moment. Fun fact: everyone i knew growing up called that type of ice "After Ice"
    In Montana it gets super bad after the tiniest rise in temperature before it freezes all over again.
    My family and I personally called it "California Killer Ice"
    In our town we had (still do) so many people from California moving who had no idea how to drive in snow, let alone on any type of ice!

    The draft looked huge peering into the barn...I was thinking the boy was a giant! Loved the shot of him standing on the snow bank. Still a big guy though. I hope the various draft breeds don't disappear but so many are becoming rare.

    I'n enjoying your snow vicariously - it's 43.3C = 109.94F - where I am athe moment (South Australia), we always get a week or so of this in Summer, usually February, not nice! You have such a good team there, those horses don't know how lucky they are - but perhaps they do. Even with Dr Jim poking around in his nose, that horse was stoic, he's a lovely boy. The farrier is a gem too, I hope Baklava didn't hurt him too much.

    It's so sad to see so many horses with neglected feet. I can't imagine how much it hurts walking around like that all day, they must feel so relieved to finally get some care. That one @21:00 that was a year was so sad, how do you let that go on for a year without feeling guilty. Your ferrier was so understanding of the horses that were stiff or in pain, you can tell he's a really nice guy.

    To have any horses, ponies, minis, you are to put the time in to love and look after your animals, you wanted them, you treat them all happy and right. If you don't, you should be treated as cruel as the horse is,. If the horse could treat you the way you treat them, I be laughing at the guilty person if horse kicks you at all. No remorse. I love my pet cat, I'm not cruel, she is a loved happy 10 year old, she loves me back, Abbey even helps me with my stress and anxiety, she is my therapy friend. Think about it. 😢

    The vet or farrier really didn't give a prognosis for each horse on what their future would be... It would have been interesting to know what their condition meant for each one so it coukd be clear what kind of a future home would be best for them.

    • @PonyTalesRefuge
      @PonyTalesRefuge  Рік тому +1

      What the vet and farrier say does not fully determine what the best future home would be for them. They both located certain issues so stay tuned to our series for updates/outcomes of those diagnostics. Thank you!

    Ps I know it's a dumb question, but can a horse have cataracts removed? I've always been curious

    • @catbalou4
      @catbalou4 Рік тому +3

      Yes, it can be done, but the horse would have to be put under full anesthesia and I would not want to risk that on my horse. Most horses do quite well and take their ques from one of their friends. When people get cateracts removed they are awake and they follow instructions (no coughing, etc.) and post operative you don't want an eye infection or a rupture, so more instructions. You know what most horses do with written instructions? (grin) yup eat them or tear them or poop on them. Good question though :-)
