I appreciate you putting it out my man. Bro I’ve had four switches replaced in one year. Three on the grill door and the same one you did. They need to use better material and these things aren’t heat resistant.
It honestly doesn't make any sense. They literally had imo a groundbreaking invention and went cheap on that. I had issues with the door as well but I just left that as is and use my phone to control temp. Back when it happened to me they were trying to make it seem as if this wasn't very common and not a design flaw smh

I'm glad I have my Weber next to this POS! It stopped working after 6 cooks and I had to transfer all meat to my 20-year-old reliable Weber. Master Built is crap!
Yeah it was a good concept. They just should have executed the small details better. By small, I mean all of the electronics 😆 But seriously, I loved it when it worked. I just got tired of figuring out how to patch it up and so I let it go after a while.
Yes. But the connection points (the two ends of the wires) will need to touch in order for it to work. Some folks are talking about after market but better switches. I haven't done that but it may not be a bad thing to look into since you would still have the safety feature of the switch.
Great video. Thx. My problem: fan stops at about 300 degrees. Won’t restart until next usage. No customer support. 4 months old!! Any work around thoughts?
So sorry Durbin. I didn't see this until now. If you can get your hands on another control panel that may help. Just a guess though. I really am disappointed with the lack of customer support for this. You should be able to reach any company by phone imo. I know it's been 2 months. Did you get it worked out?
Fan stopped working on my 1050 series. masterbuilt customer care sucks ASS. their warranty sucks ass too, as they won't send anyone to fix or replace parts. I got a couple handfuls of cooks in and that's all. fuck masterbuilt, I'll never buy another one of their cheap chinese made products ever again.
Yeah thats a bummer 😕. I tried calling them for a 440e and was directed to a website. Sometimes you just want to speak to a person you know... Hope you were able to get it together somehow.
All you have to do for 20 dollars is order a new wire kit. And the safety switch has 2 screws at the top and you don’t have to take all those other ones out and fish it to the bottom. 2 screws.
Unfortunately not many. I do know that they use the same type of control panels for a couple different cookers. If you aren't able to get a part from them due to "supply chain" shortages then maybe find someone with a broken vertical charcoal unit or something. I interchanged the 2 when I play around with their vertical charcoal unit before I made a video saying I hated it lol. Other than that I didn't really dig around in it. I hope someone sees this and can lend a bit of advice for you!
My guess is that you will need to replace the temp probe wires(s). I had a similar issue with that vertical charcoal smoker that I reviewed for MB on this channel. Easy to do, but annoying. Contact them right away with your receipt and see if you can get one for free. If you've had it a while and no longer qualify you could try attaching your own set up like a guru or whatever to the fan bypassing the control board and temp probe. I've heard of folks doing that and haven't success. Good luck. Let us know what you ended up doing.
@D's Que Backyard BBQ I only used it once to get the chemicals out of it, and I couldn't even get it to 400 degrees. So do you think my temp probe wire is defective??
@plewin20 same thing happened to me with the vertical. I would start a claim with them and let them know. My guess is that temp probe isn't reading correctly but the good news is as long as they send you the part for free it shouldn't be too difficult to swap out.
im stuck as my brand new unit wont turn on. only the main lid switch triggers the beep and "open" message but hopper and ash box can be open but there is no beep or "open" message, even if i manually close those 2 circuits the fan still wont come on. Im at a loss as i cant find anybody with my situation, my switches arent stuck they just arent working at all and not triggering any open messages. I cant get the fan on at all and will now have to rent a truck again and pay someone to help me return it if i cant get it running.
I broke the whole thing down since I was put of warranty anyway. I took off the fan, the switches and the face along with the wires connecting the temp probe. Come to find out the culprit was the last switch that I hadn't removed. I just bent them together and left them off. Good luck with this though. You hate to have to lug that thing all the way back to the store
