    Great video. I bought my 800 for pretty much all the same reasons you mentioned. I can't wait to use the griddle and my wife is super excited to put a leg of lamb on the rotisserie. I do wish the 1080 came with the griddle or I totally would have went bigger. So far, I've done some steaks, burgers and did my first pork shoulder over the weekend. Everything came out amazing. I did see you tend to use two fire starters when you light the grill. I've honestly had zero issues using 1 masterbuilt fire starter. Wait like 90 seconds and we are off and running.

      I think for the price and features, it’s hard to beat! You’re right I could probably get away with one fire starter… I had so much trouble when I first got it that I just do it to reassure myself lol

    I really wanted the cg980, but I got the mb800 because it was on discount at costco. I felt like a settled, but I didn't realize the mb800 goes 50 degrees lower. I too smoke fish, in fact thats what I smoke the most. I actually prefer to cold smoke, and in my old chip burner I would cycle the smoker on and off so I could achieve ~100f. in other words, I only cured and smoked and never ever cooked my fish. really happy I got the mb800 now, much safer for the way I like to smoke fish to know it can cut itself off at 150 even if I neglect it a little.

    Thanks for this
    I just ordered the 800 today. Was almost about to buy the 560, because it was cheaper, and with an extra pair of racks, it would hold the same as the 800 (could get a pair of racks for $50CAD).
    That was until I came across a blog post that mentioned that the sidewalls of the 800 were thicker and porcelain covered, whereas the 560 was something like double-thin steel.

      I mix them in randomly throughout the hopper but it try to front load some of it because the meat absorbs the smoke most at the beginning of the cook.

      You turn the grill off and put the metal slides back in place…. This cuts off air to the fire and will choke the fire out.

    For anyone who is buying a masterbuilt beware because I received one in a box that was totally destroyed and re-taped and yet I did not get any type of open box or damage discount.
    Then to top it off there is no telephone number to call and they force you to contact them online. This mean they can take up to a week or more to get back to you or even if you need a replacement part.
    If I could do it again I would buy a different brand or one that I can get at a store that is easily returnable

    All these "its so great" videos... but HOW does it work? Why does Masterbuilt not want to show HOW IT WORKS?

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  6 місяців тому

      They posted videos for years on how it works. You have a hopper full of charcoal, it burns from the bottom, and a fan blows through the coals and blows that heat into the smoker. The strength of the fan, which is controlled by the controller, is how it regulates temperature. It’s a very simple design.

  • @Taylormade1383
    @Taylormade1383 2 роки тому

    I sure hope this video didn’t warrant a purchase of this pos for any of you. Most of these videos are influenced by Masterbuilt with free demos and promotions, etc. and Masterbuilt does a fine job of filtering any comments or negative posts. I have a 14 month old boat anchor of a 1050. First the switches, seals and temp controller will die, after your 1 year warranty is up you’ll notice that your firebox completely burned away. You’ll also learn from customer service that this is to be expected, but their research team has determined it would be years before this has happened, so you’re just SOL. I challenge any of you who have owned one of these longer than a few months and several cooks to let me know your unbiased experience.

    The Gravity series is total shit. I've had my grill for 6 months and so far have had to dismantle and clean it, replace 2 switches & a cord and the computer will not update or connect to my phone. The fan will randomly quit working. I've had emails to and from the company and demanded phone calls. I've gotten exactly 3 cooks out of it and have been embarrassed with guests waiting on food. IT IS A PIECE OF SHIT!!! Don't buy it.
