      It’s funny because I really contemplated what to include when I was editing because initially it was almost 50 minutes long and that was bit much... even at 38 minutes it felt long but it was either include the whole thing or none of it at all. I’m glad I did because I have gotten a great response from the UA-cam community. Thanks for watching

    I got my 560 and assembled it this week. They definitely addressed the initial problems people had with it. Thanks to your video I was well prepared to assemble mine! They gave these two little caps to install before screwing on the lid handle so I didn’t have to worry about loosing those screws in there just like you pointed out. I’m sire a lot of people did drop those screws in there

    Excellent video! After much research and watching your video the wife and I got one. Yesterday we unboxed it and found that it had no instructional manual. Tuned your video in and you saved the day! What would have been a very long and disgusting all day hit or miss assembly turned out to be a pleasant 2 hour project. All one needs to do is watch your video and no need for the instructions just in case they were omitted from packaging. Thank you very much for a well explained and informative video. Great job!

    Just built mine last night. I'm not handy so I have no business near a screwdriver. It took me 3 hours to build. I felt like 1 hour was spent trying to put the white fiberglass gasket on under the charcoal box. I also dropped the screws in the hood twice trying to put the handles on. Amen, to your point about the electric chord. If it starts to rain, I don't think it will hold up - never mind running over it. Thanks for the video. it was very helpful.

    Thanks bro, your vid was an actual lifesaver on a lot of parts I was confused when reading the manual. I, too, was frustrated with the lack of words and directions, especially the door handles where I didn't realize I had to cups that protect the screws from falling. As a result, I had dropped one screw but luckily I managed to get a washer for it from the hardware store. Haven't cooked on it yet but will do tomorrow. Really appreciate your vid man, very informative, clearly spoken and explained 👌🏿

    Really awesome you showed the entire assembly! I'm sure that will help tons of folks! I'm pretty sure the 560 is built to a price point of about $500.00 retail. The Masterbuilt 1050 has a much heavier cord. Its insulated, its porcelain coated, and its double the surface area,(1050 sq inches, 3 upper racks and about 1/3 larger main cook surface).Its about 6" wider and 3" deeper across the lower grill area. Of course its $300.00 more. It has some other features that you have to see to appreciate, but you get the idea. Its made more like we would want to make it. Not trying to hit a super low price. I just pre ordered mine!

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  4 роки тому +1

      I’m not concerned with the 560. Like stated, it’s $500.... my expectations are right there with the price point. I do think it’s odd that the 1050 was never even on their website until like last week, but it’s been available lol. You’ll have to let me know what you think! Thanks for watching!

      @@AndersonsSmokeShow I found out they were not expecting to get the 1050s because of the Human virus delays but they got a small shipment of them in April I believe. This is Masterbuilts 2nd real shipment of the 1050s and it just hit the dock from what I understand. They are Drop shipping almost all of them straight to consumers. That tells me they don't have enough to ship out stock to distributors. I saw a guy is now making heavy gauge stainless tig welded firebox liners but they are very pricey. I just ordered a spit and basket for mine too. I bought some heavy Fiberglass tadpole seal and caulk for the 2 doors as well. I am gonna assemble it with the heavy duty fiberglass seal stuff. Other than that I will follow your assembly video! Thanks again for making it.

    I just put mine together today and cooked on it tonight. It took me about 3 hrs to assemble alone. I will say your comments are correct and describe what I experienced also. It was getting late after my burn-in so I cooked some chicken wings. I added a few pecan wood chunks and my wings turned out smokey crispy on outside moist on inside and after saucing they were great hot-wings. Good so far.

    i actually like the fact that it is low voltage with low voltage wire, safer and EASY to run off a battery pack if needed (power outage means great time to get outside and grill right?, you can have the "wall-wort" plugged into a weather protected receptacle and never worry about any high voltage near the grill. you could add the braided wrapping though if you wanted to better protect it with some 3/1 ratio heat shrink to seal the ends.

      First I would like to thank you for your very informative video. Unfortunately I read the manual before putting it together. On three of the metal pieces there was a brown coating on it and according to you it was oil. I washed all three of the metal pieces. I have not put it together yet. I wanted to get your advice first. Will my grill work fine with the metal pieces that I washed? In your video you said that the oil needs to be burned off before use. So I think it should be OK in that case. Also I called the phone number on the manual and the recording says that you have to contact them online. I would rather talk to someone. Please let me know if you know how to talk to them on the phone. I can’t thank you enough for all of your help!

    Great job here and across your videos, they are awesome. I picked up a 560 the other week after taking my time reviewing Masterbuilt and pellet brands. Masterbuilt did take into consideration customer feedback by providing a more robust cord and these metal cap inserts to keep you from losing a screw into the abyss of the lid! The two wires that connect to the power cord are still at risk of pulling from the control board more so now with a heavier power cord. On to the bad.....
    I should have looked at all the bad reviews as a sign to stay away from Masterbuilt. I attempted to perform the burn-in and 11 minutes in I had a melted lid/door switch, bubbled paint, and an email out to Masterbuilt likely requiring a whole new grill. The fan never regulated and cranked the heat up to sear and beyond.

  • @keviny1936

    After I had used mine for a month, I ordered the LSS mods pack, one of them is a stainless-steel insert for the fire box. If you are considering this, it is a lot easier to install in the initial build than to retrofit. as you have to remove the side panel from the fire box, take the fire box off and add the insert.
    Also, as to how it works when it the hopper lid and ash door are closed the combustion gases in the hopper area become too rich (not enough oxygen) to burn, so only the charcoal at the bottom burns. Hence the direction to only have the unit at or below 250 F if you reload the hopper mid-cook. Otherwise, you could get a runaway burn that might be dangerous and would waste charcoal. On mine I notice a layer of hard black soot on the bottom of the hopper lid which is the unburned charcoal that has plated out due to cooling.

    Completely agree about the power cord. In so much that as I was relocating the unit to install the myriad of parts I stepped on the cord and pulled the connection from the circuit board. Frustrating to say the least. It took me another 2hrs to disassemble the circuit board and reattach the flimsy 22 gauge wire in the even more flimsy connector on the board. I then did what I was thinking when I assembled this puzzle. Zip tie, zip tie…I probably over zip tied all the wires but now, at least I have a fighting chance the next time I step on the cord.

    I have to say something to you, and about your channel Mr. SmokeShow, and I’ll start by saying how much I enjoy watching your videos. I’ve learned so much since following you with regards to smoking different types of meats. Most memorable was the first time I clicked on one of your beer can chicken videos, and you wore the chicken on your hand as a puppet to season it 😅, but I also learned to plug the top with a potato wedge, brilliant and I still do that to this day. I’m yet to see anyone else do either of those things. I understand that this video is now 4 years old, but I recently acquired a Masterbuilt 560 at Home Depot as a clearance returned item for super cheap, luckily for me, it was fully assembled, but I had a few questions about the electrical part of it. I saw your unboxing video and, yourself being an Engineer, provided a thorough assembly, and initial first burn. Being my age, I can well remember when company's use to build things which were heavy gauge with a great deal of quality. My train locomotive must have weighed 5 lbs back in the 50's. Just got mine this weekend. The box wasnt smashed but there were issues that made me a little worried. A corner on the hopper that slides up into the tower was bent. Had to bend that back to make it fit. Along with an area around the hopper door hinge. The seam below the back vent seems to leak. Not sure if thats normal. And I wish the gasket they gave for the hopper had some adhesive on it instead of recommending the costumer to use some. Pretty sure mine wasnt tight or leaks somewhere. Seemed like a lot of smoke coming from below the grill. But it was also pretty windy.

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  4 роки тому

      Oh man, sounds like the damage was bad enough to return it. During start up I see smoke coming from underneath and around the drip tray, but after the start up I don’t really notice it much. I only used the gasket to seal mine, and I don’t think that it’s been an issue.

    For anyone who going to buy this, he replied to my question and told me. But MB now includes 2 metal caps for preventing the screws from falling in when putting the handle on. I totally spaced that he mentioned it and assembled it without them and had close calls with both screws but somehow got lucky and both went in. After I was done and cleaning up I found the lil baggy with the caps in it and went "hummm..." The moral to the story pay attention when you unbox, this sucker has an ungodly number of parts lol.

    • @frenchy540

      I know this is an old comment, but those 2 metal caps are in a separate bags with the extra instructions. The main booklet still doesn't mention these cups. I built mine today, and of course, lost the screw and wshers in the hole. It took me at least 30 minutes to fish them out. I finished the build, then saw the 2 caps with the extra instructions, so what did I do? I unscrewed the handle, and you guessed it, one of the screws fell in the hole again! Really bad that the instructions for the caps are in a spearate bag and not in the main booklet

    Nice video, I’ve just received this grill in the UK. Interesting all the points you identified have been addressed - the grill came with a thick outdoor looking power cable and adapter, the screws for the lid came with a collar type washer to stop them falling into the lid and there was a thicker tie preinstalled to hold the cables, nice work Masterbuilt. Still a couple of build issues that slowed my set up but overall really pleased 2 cooks in 👍

      Well if you’re looking at which is more complicated.... the answer is neither. The pellet grills are less involved in regards to start up procedures, but the Masterbuilt isn’t too bad if you are properly equipped. I got myself a small butane torch and it’s been pretty easy ever since!

      @@AndersonsSmokeShow Thanks for the reply. As an Engineer which grill would you rate as least likely to give you mechanical problems? My issue with the smoke fire is I keep hearing about mechanical issues with the pellet feeder whereas a gravity smoker doesn't have that problem. I want to keep this grill/smoker a long time so I want as few issues as possible.

      Well Jim there are definitely less moving parts in the Masterbuilt as it’s simply a controller, fan, thermocouple, and two limit switches. I have heard that Weber has worked out some of the issues with the SmokeFire but I’m not 100% sure. I was going to buy my dad a SmokeFire but ended up getting him a Camp Chef Woodwind WiFi instead and I think it’s a great grill.

At the end I saw this bag left over with the inserts so removed and reinstalled the handle. Way less stressful. Using a napkin or cloth, rub a light coat of cooking oil on smoke + sear grates, warming/smoking racks, charcoal grate and the inside of the grill lid and body

    Love mine. Could be better build quality, but for the price, I’m happy with it.

      It’s a good price point for what it is! But I’m impressed so far! We’ve done one cook so far and it turned out great! I’m looking forward to a summer full of grilling and smoking! Thanks for watching and thanks for the support!

    After using this for several cooks now, what are you final impressions? Do you believe this smoker will have a long life ?

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  4 роки тому +2

      I keep mine in the garage while I’m not using it, so I think that will help increase its lifespan. I just wrapped up filming a video with an in-depth look at this grill. I think you’ll want to see it. Should be released tomorrow morning.

    Mine arrived yesterday, time to build today, 1050 though... Luckily I got 98% humidity and 86° weather to help me out 😂😂

      It’s a scorcher here in Ohio today too! With that heat I think I’d build it inside and hope that it fits through the door when I’m done 🤣! It’s an awesome grill, and I’m sure that you’ll love it. Thanks for watching!

    Very good video. Seems the metal is very thin. When you were putting it together, it had that made in China "ting" when the lid and sides where banged.

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  4 роки тому

      It’s definitely on the thinner side when compared to other grills. Fortunately it was packaged well and everything was in perfect shape as we unboxed it. Thanks for the support!

    I used lump charcoal and seasoned the grill at 400 like you suggested. Then I turned it down to 275 to smoke a Boston Butt. There was very little to no smoke in the cooking chamber. Is that normal or do I need to change the charcoal? Your assembly video was very helpful. Nice work!

      That’s a common misconception when it comes to smokers. The best some is a thin blue smoke that is nearly invisible
