Everything she said is accurate. My sister has a loser curl pattern 3b, but I have watched my sister grow her hair from wash and go's. She will chop her hair to shoulder length and within a year she is able to retain an extra 10 inches of hair. I think type 3 and 4 hair can grow from wash and go's. Some many type 4 ladies are afraid to do them and it's looks so beautiful. I say wash and go and when starts to look bad...Do a curly messy bun until your next wash day. Your hair will thrive. Hair loves water.
Omg not having to hide from water is the reason I LOVE wash n gos. Steam is hydration for the cuticles and my hair loves me so much when she’s steamed up. I’ve only been doing wash n go’s for 2 weeks now and I don’t see a reason to do any other hairstyle. My hair makes me smile in a wash n go ☺️☺️☺️☺️
Wash and gos and twist outs made my hair grow like crazy. I honestly hate protective styles 😂. I hate the tight manipulation. I’m so used to treating my hair so gentle and when another person touches it my scalp becomes so tender. I love to wash my hair every week because I have high porosity hair and I use a lot of product and that builds up on my scalp and causes itchiness. My wash day routine: I pre poo with a homemade fenugreek mask or hot oil treatment or aloe Vera or conditioner mix oil I shampoo my hair 2 times ( sometimes I will do a acv rinse or a clay mask ) Conditioner Deep conditioner or protein treatment or a mix Rinse with cold water Leave in Oil the scalp with hair growth oil Cream Jbco mix olive oil or light grease all over my hair to lock in the moisture. Gel I never break my gel cast because it isn’t necessary and will break on it’s own. I have high porosity 3c hair and this works for me and has helped my hair a lot.
I also have high porosity, 3c hair as well. I’m a simple gal. I wash once with a cowash CON right now, deep condition with Mielle Deep conditioner (Babasu mint, rosemary strengthening) for 35-45 minutes… At this point I detangling with my HS wide tooth comb and then brush with my tangle teezer or unbrush, leave in mousse and I’m done!
i've been natural for 4 years now and have always been scared of doing wash and gos bc like you said, there were so many youtubers that demonized them and it scared me. as i'm now doing more research, it's making me realize that 4c hair can be just as moisturized, hydrated, and defined as every other texture; it just requires us to use more water in our routine, which makes sense since it's the texture that is prone to getting really dry. i've come across so many videos of women with type 4 hair doing 2, 3 product wash and gos, so obviously it can be a simple thing. the people that act like 4c hair is unbearable, are just playing into texturism and it's weird. this was a lovely video and i'm excited to try it out!
I used to think that my hair could not do wash and gos/wash and styles. I do realize you have to be consistent with doing them and there is a level of maintenance that is required for success. I love how you did your research and linked 4c ladies who do wash and gos!
Daria Pio yeah I used to think the same, thanks so much for commenting. I’m glad you peeped the description box I love 4c hair even tho I don’t have it. I binge watched 4c wash n gos and was amazed at each one.
I’m 4C and did my very first successful wash n’ go today. I’m hoping this will help reduce tension on my scalp and stop of the hair loss I’ve been experiencing. :(
Love this! I agree with everything you said in this video. I've been strictly a wash and go girl for nearly 2 years now. I wash/co-wash my hair every 4-5 days so I really don't get single strand knots anymore. Wash and go's are so low maintenance for me. I'm able to let my hair do what it do. You're so cute, and your hair is beautiful😍
Wash n Go's are perfect for me because I swim 4x a wk. I wash, deep condition, oil my scalp 1x wk, 2x month add protein. Daily-Wet hair in shower, add leave in condition, styling cream and coconut oil. Night spray water on hair and finish with coconut oil, wrap hair with silk scarf. Hair grows like crazy because of the daily hydration, followed with the daily conditioner.
i LOVE wash and gos!! as a 4c hairtype we always hear "4c can't curl" or "4c doesn't do wash and gos well" but wash and gos are like the only style i find that defines my curls in such a quick and effortless way!
Everybody's hair is different. I love how you took the time to discover what works for you and stick with it! I also love wash and go's and my very high porosity hair loves when I do them two to three times a week. And it also makes a difference what products work for your hair. My hair seems to hate gels but it loves styling creams.
So did you add the styling creams on soaking wet hair in the shower? If wetting more than once a week, would you just wet in the shower and apply more product?
@@christine1962ful Hi. I would cowash during the week and wash with shampoo once a week. My hair does come out better when I do everything in the shower.
@@debjim6696 Thanks for replying. Was revisiting wash and go videos for length retention and saw your reply. I'm living WnGs and committed to wearing them predominantly after ditching oils and butters. My hair has never felt better and is finally seeing growth! Loving my 4b/4c texture even more. I must say using better quality products has made a massive difference to holding definition for a longer period of time but I try to was 1-2× a week. UFD is amazing and coupled with the I Create Hold is my main products. Worth every penny and lasts a long time as yiu don't need much product!
I am SUPER excited to find this video. I am horrible at twist out and because of that I constantly have my hair all gel up in one. The other day I tried wash and go and I was amazed at the way my curls came out. In the mornings I just spray it with some water. I have a long way to go to learn alot of things but I am so looking forward to it 2023. Awesome video.
How has it been going? I just did my first ever wash n go and I love it. I want to stick to just doing that for the next couple of months but I’m worried
First of all, you’re adorable. Thanks for this perspective, cuz I’m newly a loose natural (had sisterlocks) and wash and go’s are literally the only thing that lasts more than 3 days.
Ive been natural for 10 years and I only do wash and go… i do have a much simpler routine than i did 10 years ago and my hair is healthy and when i was relaxed for almost 30 years my hair wouldnt grow past my shoulders, i just straightened it (i do this once a year) and its almost below my bra… some tips i tell my daughters and other ladies… number one most important thing, love your hair… she is beautiful and was made just for you! Once you love that beautiful crown everything truly falls into place! Be blessed beautiful queens
I love that we could agree to disagree!!! As you know, I'm one of those 4C anti-washNgos naturals. The main reason why is because I get tons of knots that have to be cut off after my rivals around one another. I personally think wash&gos are cute and healthy for those, like yourself, who truly know how to care for them! I respect your opinion to the fullest, and like we always say "to each is own!"
That's how I felt before. Granted i don't have the texture or hair circumstances as you, but I hated Wash-N-Go's because of the extensive knots I got after 1 day until I started doing a modified Dickey Method. After washing I saturated my hair in a conditioner, detangled in shower, then after rinsing out applied generous styling product to saturated hair. Then every other day I would cowash until I my weekly shampoo. I had a lot less knots, and after I chose the right product. My mom is also anti wash and go, do what works for your hair.
I've been wanting to do a wash and go for ever I am a 3C/4A and it seems like I only get definition on the lower portion of my hair. But because of you detailed explanation about wash and go's. I'm going to really put some effort into trying them. Thank you so much for the content in this video! One Love 💕
What an excellent explanation on WGN's! I loved your description of how WNG's benefit our hair! It helped me better understand the many pros of wearing WNG's! Thanks so much.
I enjoy wash and goes and think I'll stick to them now. Bantu knots were a fav but I frizz into an afro puff quick lol wash n goes give me that curly look I love. Thanks for video
Love the vid! Your voice is so calm and reassuring. Thank you for all your tips. I agree with most. Currently lost some hair due to styling. I'm gonna cut and do wash n go til Summer 😊
Use something like honey hydrate for the way it draws moisture from the air into your hair. Couple with mouse. If Gels put a shell around your hair, it blocks moisture, not great. Mouse and a glycerin agent that does work for you is ideal. Im on my 9th day of wash and go. Every time I shower, the mist reactivates my hair like Im on day 2z

My hair flourishes in wash n go styles!! I feel like it’s less maintenance than other hair styles!!

I'm high porosity also. Have you never experienced Hydro fatigue? Since our cuticles open and all that water is going thru your hair all the time

My hair LOVES WASH N GO'S! I just use my cheapie Passion Fruit Smoothie Vo5, my pantene gold series detangling milk and my oil! BOOM!
No gel? Does the Pantene provide hold for you? Do you put it on soaking wet hair if you use it as a styler?
I agree 💯 percent with everything that you said.
