      Thank you so much, but what i did notice was that the bass was so much better when you were standing instead of sitting. Maybe personal flavour, i like bass a lot.

    My only issue with ESL is the lack of attack. It doesn't really "slap". Rather it smooths out everything. That's great for classical, jazz, reggae etc But for rock, I still go back to my Klipsh's. The accuracy in reproducing grungy guitar sounds and metallic percussion is out of this world. With ML ESLs rock music is just too smooth.

      Maybe your components are warmer than you thought, because from what I can tell, these speakers are very revealing and transparent.

      @@Kam87GT no problem. My own setup is not that big: Harbeth P3XD’s, SMSL AO300 (chifi but pretty ok) and an Argon TT turntable with a Ortofon 2M Red, wiring is Audioquest Slip 14/4, Supra Anniversary Phonocable, Supra powercable. I will buy a new streaming device asap.

    I heard these the other day at Magnolia and was totally blown away by them. I now own Revel Salon 2 speakers and thought they would be my last speakers, but these really do make me have second thoughts about that. Over 20 years ago, I owned a pair of Martin Logan speakers, forget about all the old generation Martin Logan speakers of the past, these and the 15A speakers are on an entirely different level. I didn't perceive the sound as being blown out of proportion, and I did hear fine detail and was able to hear individual instrument within the soundstage. Huge, full sounding soundstage, excellent bass, fine detail and transparency, great dynamics, fine natural tone, plenty of air and holographic effect, not to mention the superb integration between the different drivers, which, in the past, was always a draw-back in their overall performance. I strongly believe that I could actually live with these for the long haul. These are absolute word class speakers.

    the bass on the Martin Logans is not precise, but it tends to overfill even when there is no need. When there would be a song with an even more pronounced bass, the bass on the Martin Logans will definitely go down. I am always of the 'idea that less bass is better if it is not good than an inaccurate bass.

    So nice to see a more recent showing of the Masterpiece Series. May I say? I have the Classic ESL 9's which are the entry level to this series. My brick and mortar store paired them with a Parasound A-21 and P6 2.1 preamp.
    With 400W per channel, the smallest in this lineup can play louder then you can stand it, and bass that will shake the room and your seat! I can't say enough about the seamless transition between the stat and the bass module. GOOD orchestral recordings show very wide and tall imaging in my 18x24' space dedicated to the system.
    The room has nothing in it but ATS panels for a little sound absorbtion, one leather sofa and coffee table at the far end about 20' back from the speakers. They are set up to spec by Martin Logan. 25" from side walls and 3.5' into the room with the rear of the bass module about 12" from the front wall. It is by far the finest, most neutral sounding system I have ever owned, AND, with a minimal amount of equipment to make it all happen.
    Again, thanks for the nod toward ML (O:

      @Gary Smith, thanks for chiming in. I own a pair of Aerius i’s and am unsatisfied with the bass. I upgraded from a Carver AV405 to a pair of Emotiva XPA-1 Gen 2 monoblocks, but still not enough bass.
      The Classic ESL 9 are most likely my next set of speakers. Have you bi-wired or bi-amped yours? If so, what were the results?

    Buonasera a tutti.

    I had hope, but alas, the mic is too far back if your camera is any judge. Ears, and by extention, the mics are supposed to fall within the innermost 1/3 of the panel.
    There was a proper listening position recorded with a set of ML Odyssey's playing, up on youtube a few years back but it's gone missing...

And i played Metallica S&M2 because the mrs and i are Metallicafans and i like to play music in videos that you normally wont hear in videos or in shops. I like to be different musicwise. Is there a big difference between 11A and 13A ?

    • @verdiodh
      @verdiodh  3 роки тому +1

      Mostly sizewise. The 11 has 2 8 inch subs and 11 inch transducer, the 13 has 2 10 inch subs and a 13 inch transducer. The 11 goes to 24 hz and the 13 to 22 hz. Those are the main differences.
