The Martin Logan Expression 13A is a huge step up in sound; well worth the price difference; on German Stereoplay in Rang und Namen they received equal and better scores than conventional speakers that retail for $30k and more. I am fortunate to own them.

Building a system up based on these - I have them in my home but adding a Moon 390 streamer / preamp to my Parasound a21 and Nordost flat speaker cables - not sure which ones they are. Sounds sweet :) System should be complete early Feb.

I am on board with the Parasound Halo P6 2.1 preamp, A21 and a pair of ESL 'Classic' 9.2 For sure, the finest system I have EVER owned, and I will be 68 this year ((O: I auditioned the ESL's with all Moon gear at my dealer. I can identify with your system!

I'd like to compare mine to some ESS's with amt's
not really a fan of electrostatic or ribbon for that matter. yes have detail and clarity but without the punch all seems very weak limp, I like something with body like a good wine behind it plus the bass sound wishy washy muddy sounding.
You have listed so many speakers, what speakers do you think is the best considering price and performance ratio ? Thank you !

I wanted to ask what were your thoughts of the electro stats? How did they compare with the bowers and Wilkins 706? And finally what are the longevity of the speakers a.k.a. was there and that you have any problems on your ownership of these?
I once met a person who owned a pair but I didn't get a chance to listen to them because they were disconnected from his setup. They apparently (I read about this) very difficult to place because they are basically like open baffles. They need to be placed at least 3 feet away from the back wall and because the soundstage beams at you and breaks down completely outside of the small triangle listening area they only give you soundstage in the sweet spot. He didn't like that especially because he had kef speakers and Martinlogan towers that have ribbon tweeters and both easily filled the rooms with sound.
I did hear the bowers and wilkins 700 series and they sound very clear and look beautiful. They also didn't sound better than a pair of kef ls50s at all and were bigger and neither were efficient. The kef's are much cheaper.
Longevity wise I can't imagine they'd stop working for any reason besides someone breaking them.
I do have a pair of tribrid iems that have multiple tiny electrostatic drivers and they are the most resolving, sweet sounding, musical, lovely iems ever. Electrostatic drivers definitely no comparison have a magic that doesn't show on paper but is very engaging and addicting. I only buy tribrid iems now with esl tweeters. Unfortunately for speakers they're a 2 way design and the esl is overreaching and the woofer is covering for too much of the bass and mids.

ML do well on lighter music like jazz, folk, etc. But on complex music they tend to get disjointed as the panel and woofer don't synch well.
Right lean not musical at all..unless you have not heard a realy good musical sys ;then you have all the right to think this is good!!!
