I quite agree with you. I have an amplifier with 300B in parallels tubes to drive a pair of Klipsch KLF 20 (100 dB) for years I liked. If I have larger sitting room will buy this classic model.

Hahaha. Watching UA-cam videos on the big screen TV and this popped up. Listening to the video in my man room on some La Scalas I bought new 32 years ago when I was 21 for about 1600 bucks for the pair. It was a ton of money for me at the time but I was in a Audio store in Longview, TX and the guy asked I wanted to hear them. A little 40 watt amp hooked to them and it blew me away. I will never let them go. Classic speakers that never get old. Family heirloom now. I can't wait for some kid to ask one of my great grandkids "where you get those rocking speakers from?" Grandkid will say his great grandpa bought them 70 years ago. I will be gone by then but these La Scalas will carry on. Lol.

      Cool story bro !!
You were lucky to find your grail speakers and hang on to them for so long and be satisfied !
Most audiophiles go through speakers like they go through socks 😂
      I'm at my 3rd speakers (B&W) and I stopped...using them for 6 years now !

love this. Just copped some in Brownsville , TX secondary market. Don't even want to say what I paid, but its not because it was too much. Listening to this song through them and reading what you wrote brought tears to my eyes. I was seriously considering flipping them on the way over to get them . Not so much since I plugged them in.

La Scalas have been my love since 1974 when I was teen ager. There is something muddy but deeply inspiring in the 200 - 400 Hz range that I really love and always recognized ll the time with La Scalas, that can be felt also listening here trhough small chinese pc speakers. By the way I own Klipschorns since 1979 and these last are better, but La Scalas are still in my heart, and for many good reasons, anyone can hear here. The soundtrack is also one of my references for outstandng recording quality. Thanks for posting.

I had a pair of LaScalas in the 80's. In the seventies I was invited to Hope Arkansas to do a consultation while the Klipsch BMF theater system was being developed. The Klipsch guys wanted to know if their BMF's could crack the concert sound touring business. I told them the concert sound touring business is built around speaker systems that go in a truck in an efficient manner and most had to be rectangular to use up truck space efficiently. The BMF was not rectangular and except for being used as the PA for the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, it had little to no impact on the touring sound business. It does have a lion's share of movie theater sound system business. Meeting Paul Klipsch and Bill Moyers was a pleasure. Peter, Paul, and Mary used 4 LaScalas as their PA when they played Radio City Music Hall.

@Douglas Blake You are actually hearing a combination of theirs and your speakers. And also you are hearing their acoustics mixed with your acoustics. To get a good sound from UA-cam, listen to different type speakers than yours and with different room acoustics. This recording is so good it nearly sounds like direct feed. Good speakers, good mic and good room acoustics on this particular UA-cam demo! (But not all demos are recorded so well.) I got two completely different types of speakers and if I want to listen to my demos (on my ch) I can use the other type speakers to hear them. My floor standers are different to anything on UA-cam (on my ch) and so they make most speakers on UA-cam sound great.

This video debunks the excuse given by most reviewers for not showing an audio demo of the product. We can hear the difference people, even on UA-cam, so please do audio demos!

I have been listening to this as a hifi demo track since....1985! On a pair of Celestion SL600s with the Aerolam cabinet driven by a 20W Class A Musical Fidelity A1 integrated amp. CD player: a Phillips clunky jobbie, 14bitsx4 times oversampling. Don't knock it; as it was musical sounding and would still be today. Good times. 36 years on, nothing has changed. Lawdy, children born in 1985 are 36 years old this year.

@@russellparker4568 I'll never understand recordings of a speakers output being used for marketing. Same goes for commercials on TV, showing the image/video of a "great picture" of a new TV. I have sat in a room with people, remarking at the "great picture quality" of the TV in the commercial. I was so taken aback by the stupidity of the people in question, I just shook my head.

I just ordered mine today! I was also considering Fyne Vintage and JBL 4367. There's something about the LaScala that blows my mind and defies many things considered "audiophile" by the "experts". You have to listen to these beautiful sculpted cabinets to truly understand what they deliver.

I'm listening on a monster sound bar with a sub and it sounds amazing I can imagine how they sound in person, my 13 year old son and I were in a high end audio store in Edmonton ab and they demoed a pair of $23,000 speakers and a McIntosh amp and I was blown away! what a sound! I wish to own but I'll have to wait for.a lotto win.

My complaints to Sound Sommelier again for the wonderful selection of music and equipment you bring to us for our pleasure. Thank you sir!
I keep coming back to this post even thou it’s an old one but… good one! ☝🏻
The La Scala’s are truly a wonderful speaker and yes as life like as you’ll get without spending another 15K to 20K dollars an not really get any are much of an improvement.
Just remember that what you feed the La Scala’s will determine what comes out of them!
A bad recording regardless of equipment will sound bad but a good recording and with particularly a good tube amplification low wattage will sound absolutely marvelous and one will find them selves in audio euphoria!
    Happy Listening 🔊🔊
