You can generate dozens of 15-20 second clips from 1-2 hours of filming. It doesn't have to be epic. I'll cut a 3 minute clip into a dozen and upload them all. I bring drones and gear wherever I go. Practice your cinematic moves to make it more compelling...POIs, spotlight, reveals, tracking, etc. If you can film aerials with people (friends or models), even better. Your comment about lower tier locales is good. Think volume first. Sunsets are always popular. Save your metadata/keywords to a text file.
The leader of Jethro Tull, Ian Anderson played the most mind blowing bag pipe solo I've ever seen
Excellent vide just subbed. I have been a stock photography and video creator for over 10 years now, including a lot of stock drone video. A couple of things I would add is that constant submission is important, like UA-cam you have to feed the algorithm. So rather than uploading six months footage in a couple of weeks, you will get better results submitting 5-10 clips a week, to keep your name near the top. The other thing is to definitely invest in a sub 250g drone (something I am yet to do) as it will open up so many more avenues to fly. When I first started you could literally fly anything anywhere but these days it's highly recommended to stay within the rules of your local aviation authority. A sub 250g in most countries will give you a lot more freedom
Yes both very true. You have to feed the algorithm. I’ve also noticed more sales with the sub 250g drone on average than heavier
I seriously needed this information as I transition from being a stills photographer for over 35 years to shooting mobile and drone content
Great tips, thanks for sharing. Agree 100% that shooting locally and not "top-tier" destinations is the way to go.
Yeah consistently trying a variety of areas nearby definitely builds a solid portfolio
Really great video. Valuable tips and super transparent. Thanks
I never knew about people selling drone stock footage. Thanks for all this wonderful information.
Have a great week.
It’s a handy way to make some additional income. Thanks, and you
Dropping gems as always mate! Really got me thinking !
Cheers bro!
Thank you for your thoughts and information re selling drone stock footage. It is not something I ever thought of doing. I certainly am enjoying making aerial videos for UA-cam. Thank you, my friend.
Thanks Dave, yeah UA-cam is certainly more creative than stock, setting aerials to music etc. And always a good move to do what you enjoy first and foremost!
Great informative upload! Thank you for sharing! Best wishes, Elly ❤😍🎧
Thanks for sharing sir I got u cheers 🍻🍻👍
Wow nice video 📲 What a fantastic sharing 🔊 May you have a wonderful day 🎉🎶🍾

Iaaaaaaan I am blown away your video the entirety of it is just quality 🔥 the way you do your videos is the same sort of essence I am aiming for your very inspiring ☺️⭐️ also love the content actually so useful bcos I am hoping to purchase a drone this year but have no idea where to start with it and it’s footage, also seen stock footage also so very interesting to know all this. Seriously amazing video Ian thank you for putting your work together and sharing your wisdom your amazing 🌈✨
Thanks! Yes a drone is brilliant and a really great tool for vlogging. It's also a really cool day out with friends!
Information on drone shooting, shooting techniques, and sample videos are wonderful. I have a lot to learn. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍🔔 ⛄🎄
Thanks so much for watching
Nice to meet you, thank you very much for sharing this very valuable video. A very useful lecture. The video content of DJIMini3Pro is wonderful. I have subscribed to your channel.👏😀🔔🙋
Thanks and welcome! Yes it’s my favourite drone. Have a great day
I witnessed the last Jethro Tull performance in Clearwater Florida years ago. It was an awesome combination of cinematic theatrics and excellent musicianship
Amazing. They were slightly before my time. Which album should I check out?
Ian, love your honesty! Have you a video explaining best way to do clips???
Hi Paul, yes there is a 10 tips for stock video. I also may make a part 2 in the future
You need more subs mate. Very wise words my man! Just got my first drone, the air 2s I'm not going to try and sell my footage i just like to film for myself but this was a good video! 😊 Cheers from Finland!
Thanks man. Long form UA-cam is a slow burner these days
Another great bit of information mate 💯
Thanks, glad it was informative
@@Ian.A.Anderson how long did it take to get your first sale on pond5 and how much do you charge?
@@Davidvrjsullivan first sale was after 3 months. I charged around $50 when I started- but that was on a 70d. However, for good quality aerials you want to charge at least $65 hd and $100 4K
@@Ian.A.Anderson I guess it’s persistence and patience with there being so many videos uploaded everyday
@@Davidvrjsullivan Absolutely, and I think having a double purpose now is the key. You never know what sells exactly, but if you use your footage elsewhere, it's worth it
6:12 great info 🤟🏻
I'm not very good at understanding English, but it was very helpful because it was explained in an easy-to-understand manner using videos.
Thank you, I hope the subtitles helped perhaps
First video I see from you and I like how honest you are, no fast ways to grow type of bs, thanks man! Also how do you even get to fly in London? Do you ask a permit or something or is it different in the UK from the rest of the EU?
Thanks Jonathan. You can fly a sub 250g drone from the Hermitage Gardens. If you plan to fly over the Thames then you need to inform the port. Dronescene is a great website for more information. A lot of London is a no fly zone so I would recommend doing more in depth research on that site
@@Ian.A.Anderson That's cool it has some spots where you can fly. A lot of cities are complete no-fly zones. Thanks for the response!
Nice professionally made videos!great work!subscreibed too!👍
Thanks so much!

Do you guys have a format that you always use?
like 4k 60p d-cinelike - basic grade?
I want to know which framerate to use, etc.
Hi, my next upload video actually addresses these exact questions. It’ll be up a week today. I’m generally 30fps but I’ll explain in detail on the upload
@@Ian.A.Anderson Nice! Gonna watch next one as well!
Nice
Thanks :)
Really helpful video, great work, I think I can learn a lot from your videos! Like 38 and subscribed!
Thanks, yes stock filming isn't easy but it's definitely worth a go!
Is this Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull?
Nice video. What about insurance? Filming stock wouldn't be my main job/source of income. I just shoot stuff as I'm out and about.
I have a DJI Mini 4k
I use Coverdrone for insurance. You’ll need to check your country’s specific drone laws. But I think it’s worth it for peace of mind
@@Ian.A.Anderson I'm in the UK. On a similar note, I plan on taking it on holiday to Canada, I guess I need to find out what the drone rules are over there too?
Hi ,Ian:)That's a great movie:)sub👍🔔
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it

Thanks, and you
Basically I've been doing this a year and a half it's a waste do it for fun and if u take off then start selling
Stock certainly isn’t easy, but if you enjoy filmmaking that’s the main thing and it can lead to other things
