  • So last video, I went over what it's been like to own a Veloster from a consumer level (and briefly touched on what it's like from a car enthusiast's perspective). This video dives into what my experience has been with my modifications and what you could expect if you chose to do any of these. There's some interesting new updates so check it out!

    Another great video sir! And Damn! Glad I replaced my turbo XS as well. I agree that there is a HUGE difference between the two BOVs. I feel much safer with the GFB bov if that makes sense I mean, why buy them twice you will pay more than you would have anyway just saving a buying the better BOV. I do not want to be stuck in limp mode as I drive about the same distance to work. That really sucks about your hood. Tork tune is next on the list for me. They sell a package where you just buy the dongle with a usb and it has all of the tunes on it from my understanding and you can change your tune as you upgrade your ride. (Saw someone asking below thought it might help) Wish I would have done that a long time ago so the performance would be what it should be as I upgrade parts. :)

    • @Chayness
      @Chayness  3 роки тому +1

      Yea that seems to be the trend. SXTH does the same but doesn't give you all the tunes. You do have to pay for a "re-tune" from my understanding. Glad you like the GFB DIVX!

    If y’all want your veloster to have pops and crackles you don’t need a full exhaust job, just get a muffler delete and you can get it tuned if you want to get even more. All i have is a stock tune with a cold air and a muffler delete and mine sounds amazing! (Mine is a 13 turbo) I daily my car and it is loud don’t get me wrong but there is no drone at all. I kept the resonator and cats but those will be gone soon >:)

    Super late but do any of these affect MPG? I’ve heard some mods do that and wondering if any of these reduce MPG. LOVE the videos, super helpful and informative, keep the videos coming 👍

    • @Chayness
      @Chayness  2 роки тому +1

      From personal experience, the BOV was the only thing that I noticed had a big enough change to talk about. The prior TurboXS BOV gave me terrible mileage. The new GFB DIVX Valve corrected that. Neither of the two gave the same mileage the stock Bypass Valve offered. It was like a 2-3 MPG difference.

      It does work, the problem is that the DRL's only activate when the hand brake not engaged, So if you drive stick, you won't really notice it.

    Almost all aftermarket body parts, especially carbon fiber and fiberglass, need to be fitted, while yes many will bolt on, but will not set perfect without work

  • @isaias9838

    Did you tune your car after installing the BOV and Short Ram? I read online articles that stated if you modify any system that affects the air/fuel ratio of the car, then you’d need to tune it.

    • @Chayness
      @Chayness  2 роки тому +1

      I did not tune the car but that statement is only partially correct. While tuning your car will maximize the benefit of those modifications, the Gen 1 VT has enough breathing room with the stock ECU that it will take into account the upgrades and provide a benefit to drive and power. Not huge mind you, but you don't need a tune unless you really want to spend the money on one. Personally, if tuning is in your future, i'd advise getting all your bolt ons first (BOV, Catch Can, Intake, Exhaust, FMIC) and then tuning the car so it'll take to account all the mods. Otherwise you will have to tune every time you add something new.

    • @isaias9838
      @isaias9838 2 роки тому

      @@Chayness appreciate the information. Im waiting until I have all of the mods before tuning. Like you said it’d be a waste of money to tune every time. Once my CatBack comes in I’ll start installing all of my mods. I’m running stock for now.

    Do you consider an ecu update stage 1 ? Any thoughts

    • @Chayness
      @Chayness  3 роки тому +4

      Great question. It depends as many different tuners handle ECU upgrades differently. Personally a simple ECU update would be more like a "Stage 0" tune. For example, SXTH Engineering who offer ECU tuning have a "Stage 0" or an ECU Calibration. This means they tune the ECU but basically keep it stock, they just iron out some issues with the stock tuning and make the car more "efficient". They then offer a series of different tunes based off of certain "stages" like lightly modified, lightly modified with cat delete, full bolt on, and customer ECU tuning (for those with built engines or stuffed/upgraded larger turbos). All these tunes are to increase horsepower of course. In this sense, they offer "Stage 0" (no power increase or very very little increase), Stage 1, Stage 1.5, Stage 2 and up basically. The Stages are more defined by the tuner themselves.
