I can definitely see the exhaust LED gadget getting used by some people, but I see a major flaw with it: heat. Having those tiny exposed wires and cheap LEDs on something that gets super hot is just going to cause everything to melt.

The concept would be a lot cooler if it was a ring of LEDs in a ring that surrounds, but doesn't touch, the exhaust pipe. It is the physical attachment to the pipe that turns it into an inevitable issue when the heat burns it up over time. The heat is already bad enough on exhaust pipes, which is why they are frequently the first parts to just spontaneously fall off.
I'm high right now and that fake turbo sound was hilarious for some reason I literally laughed for like 10 minutes.

I’m no car buff, but I feel like an OBD2 device that can somehow impact your fuel economy/performance has got to be the vehicle equivalent of downloading more RAM on your computer. Sounds really convincing if you know nothing about cars, but impossible when put into practice.
I think (not 100% sure) but some manafacturors limit the car threw the internal code so in some instances some OBD2 scanners especially ones that are connected to computers can actualy help with performance but not fuel economy
I fact possible with modern(-ish) cars but needs modell and motor specific software
It probably only clears error codes, if anything at all.

The cheap obd2 plugs/scanners have counterfeit chips and stolen, outdated code and can even sometimes damage electronics in your vehicle if they're not made right.

Way back in the 80’s I was thinking about this and started to try to use a high volume hair dryer, that did have the no heat option, as an electric turbo. Never finished the set up to try it but in 1986 I was thinking about it

I think most of those "OBD2 Power" devices usually just increase the throttle response by intercepting pedal packets and increases how much "pedal press" the ECU sees. Thus, the driver "feels" more power at less pedal, but it's not any actual power increase.
I always suspected the same thing.

@@JessHull the act, itself, isn't too dangerous. A lot of performance cars adjust pedal response from factory with different selectable drive modes (comfort, sport, track, etc)
The only thing I could see bad about creating a hacky "universal" device is you don't know what wonky stuff could happen with a weird car that may not function as most do.
