Zoolander's human here. Thanks for all the compliments! Like any Jeep it's always a work in progress. Zoolander is an overland/camping build. Moin, many greetings from Germany. It's a beautiful vehicle. I have got a WJ here in Germany, too. It's a V8 4.7 H.O. in black with all offroad components included. My project ... Very nice and beautiful people, so we will come back to the US in 2021. Start in Detroit again and then westbound to South Dakota and so on....have a good time and stay healthy !

I HAVE to get another WJ !!! I love that bar across the dash !! I knew they had one for the Wrangler... There's just no love for the WJ sometimes... You just have to do it yourself !!!
Here either. I think they are the last of the real 4WD Sport Utilities. Real axles, real transfer case. I think we will see many more being built as they are cheap to get into.
Yep the Wrangler bar was the inspiration for mine. Took about an hour and maybe $30 in parts and paint for the original bar. Later I added the power pods, ran switched power to it, and painted it flat black (the satin was reflecting too much in the windshield on sunny days). It's a great simple mod project if you plan on running a lot of dash gear for filming or overlanding. Also if you aren't afraid to drill some holes in the speaker fascia ;) If I had to do it over again, I'd have tried something a little less invasive. My concern though was keeping the bar at a legal height so the cops wouldn't pull me over for an obstructed view.
That is one clean build wj, fucking hell man I love it! Really nice build, the blacked out grill inserts are a nice touch that I've never seen on another wj
I bought my WJ featured in all my other videos for $500. I bought used take off wheels, used BFG's, used tent etc. A budget build can still be very nice. Use the money you save to buy other parts needed and the time you save not working to make money on fixing it up.
I picked my '04 WJ up about 5 years ago. I bought the stock wheels and tires from a buddy of mine when he put a new set on his new JK. I put a 2" budget lift on so it would accept the 31's and have picked up a roof rack off of Amazon along with the chinese lights. I love my Jeep but yours and the one in the video are HOT! My baby is coming along! Keep up the great work and please keep sharing!
Believe me... I'm on a budget. I just do an unnecessary amount of research before i do any modification or purchase LOL. I paid more than I was wanting to for Zoolander, but the previous owner had it garaged at 109k original miles and had done most of the nightmare work I would be facing (blend doors). It was his wife's truck and the V8 scared her a bit so she barely drove it.
I'm on a tiiiiiiight budget. owning a WJ means you have to be creative. ;) I'm just now ready to get my rear bumper and tire carrier. Life and kids can eat at your Jeep funds.
Overland models had the HO motor, Quadra Drive, chrome exhaust tip, chrome 5 spoke alloy wheels, AND the automatic wipers that detect how much water is on the windshield.
If you can find one for a good deal they are a lot of fun and extremely comfy on a long trip. Do some research on the various models though. Some have crap transfer cases. Also some are 6 cylinder vs. 8 cylinder. Depends on what your goals are for the rig.
Agreed. They are giving them away because they generally have worn out suspension bushings and drive terrible. You will be lifting and replacing that stuff anyway.
I use this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NLQAHS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's bluetooth for Android. Keep in mind the older Grand Cherokee's computers don't have sensors to everything so what you can monitor is limited. I mainly use it for a real coolant temp and torque / horsepower readings. I wish it had a transmission temp sensor but sadly i'm stuck with the idiot light unless I run my own wires.
The factory badging I just bed-linered them. The vinyl stickers on the doors were gifts from my family. The black trail-rated badge I got off Amazon and replaced the factory badge. The ZOOLANDER fender vinyl I design myself and had them cut at doityourselflettering.com/
Nice WJ!! I have a whole dashboard full of stuff too.. Dual band ham radio, Cb, tablet, and cell phone and it's getting a little cluttered down low. What parts did you use to build that dash bar and how is it fastened to the dash and defrost vent area? I'd like to build one of these for my rig. Thanks!
I used 1" electrical conduit for the bar. Then some steel flat bar for the firewall mounts. Then for the end stands I used shower curtain rod hangers. All ram mounts work on it. Then I just ran wire for power to the two power pods.
I have the same Jeep, (All wheel drive), and took it into a local off road enthusiast business where they do lift kit installation. They took a look at my Jeep and saw it was the Overland edition and told me they would not install a lift kit. I inquired why and he told me the all wheel drive creates issues with the front suspension and has problems such as Death wobble. So my question is, have you done any steering modifications and if you did what did you do? And, have you had Any issues since installing the lift? I purchased my GC to modify it, but stopped all plans because of this sales persons advice.
They are idiots. The rezeppa joint front driveshaft you probably have with the AWD 247 transfer case will not work well or at all over 4" lift. Swap out for a stock traditional u joint style shaft found all over the junk yards. you will also need a slip yoke eliminator kit on the rear and a custom shaft. I raised my track bar axle mount and went over the knuckle on my steering. I have no bumper steer or death wobble on 35's. I have driven ti Canada and back to Florida. This is not my Jeep but a customers. Mine is the grey one predominately featured on my channel.
When you lift a WJ over 2 inches it's best to swap out the CV front shaft with a double cardan shaft. As for death wobble they are lying to you. DW has nothing to do with a lift. As long as you keep the geometry correct and replace any worn ball joints and tie rod ends you shouldn't have any DW. I've had mine up to 85mph and it tracks straight and true with zero wheel shake.
