I was watching a couple of Buhanka videos. One was in Irkutsk during a -50C winter. Guess what was the only vehicle that was driving around. In Kyrgyzstan there’s a park where you have to go up in Buhankas because they are the only vehicles that will survive the trip. They are deliberately not improving the roads so that the parks don’t get ruined by the tourists.
Couple ideas for upgrades of your Bukhanka. You can install additional radiators fans, if you don’t have them. On low gear and climbing, engine will overheat. You can also install aftermarket electric power steering and steering damper, so it will make your driving more comfortable. Bukhanka like a Russian tank, it will go anywhere if you can handle it!

That Buhanka would benefit nicely from some Torsens like Eaton TruTrac front and rear but I doubt you'll find them for those diffs. Mechanical limited slips would help a lot.

Though, I would probably add some form of power steering anyways - Just to save the thumbs! Save the thumbs, save André !! 😄
Wow! I love the Russian Buhanka! I was very impressed by the articulation... if it only had lockers! Please keep more videos coming with the Buhanka!!! And never-never get rid of it!
It could use a good washing. But the entertainment value of this 4WD loaf of bread is off the charts. Maybe a modern drive train like a Jeep diesel and transmission?
The expressions on Andray's face there at about the 17:35 mark, is priceless. Good ol' Buhanka is ready for some interior build ups. Great overlanding vehicle.
Actually saw a group of three Buchankas in Austria yesterday going up Fernpass, and another new one on a trailer close to Munich some weeks back, so there's a lot of them around seemingly. It's funny 'cos I pre-ordered an X-Bus which looks like a tiny electric copy of the UAZ-452.
Awesome video. Andrew you can get lockers on UVZ from the factory if it has military axles. My cousin back at home has one with military axles and it engages automatically, that thing is a beast off road.
Locks, automatic and forced, are available for sale for any bridge. The factory did not put military (gantry) bridges on vans before, and now the factory does not make military bridges.
The van is pretty damn cool. Be a fantastic camping off-roading vehicle. Even in stock form like this it's more than capable of getting to 95% of places you might want to go. Look like it rode a bit softer but bouncier than the Wrangler maybe some heavier duty shocks would help with the bounce.
That was a fun watch. I'd like to make a recommendation to the jeep guy. I had a 72 CJ5 Renegade for 7 years and I took it off road quite a bit. One of the best things I ever did with that jeep was to put in some Oldsmobile Cutlass high end (for lack of a better term) seats! It makes the ride just sooooo much better and they're cheap! Again, nice, fun watch.
Love that van! Don't put too much permanent weight in it with an overland build. You can bring everything you need without building cabinets and stuff. Some really fancy shocks will do a world of good for your ride quality.
I really like Buhanka. They really should sell those here. I am looking for a 4 x4 to go off-road on a 5-month trout fishing trip I am planning for 2022. It would make a great fishing car. The Jeep is a kind of not really a fair comparison, Just the amount of money he has into it to make it the off-road machine it is.
The YJ is the best Wrangler . So pure , it hits that sweet spot Tommy talked about, it’s modern enough to hang with modern standards but classic enough for you to get that CJ feeling we all want to recreate.
I bought a wrangler brand new in 1990. Put a four inch lift with 33’s front air locker and a lock right in the rear. I had more fun with that jeep than any other vehicle I have ever had. Sold it in 2005. I regret that decision more every year. That van is very cool reminds me of the jeep forward control pickups.
Russian Jeep these days is called UAZ Patriot. The same UAZ which makes the Buhanka van makes a very capable 4x4 Patriot SUV, which has a rear locker and costs about USD 20K in its most affordable trim.
No shortage of jocularity here. Great to to see Mr. T joining Andre again on an adventure. And it was great to see the Buhanka not only reach that hill this time, but climb it as well. Albeit a bit scary as F for Andre. lol Great content.
@@MrTruckTV Sincerely, you and Andre are a great team. In a world where people are struggling to find a positive outlook, you 2 show how easy it is to enjoy the simple things in life. We need more people like you and Andre spiriting the masses along. :)
Mr. Truck. I have dealt with very similar “exterior dimensions” as you. The Wrangler seats can be adapted to give some more backward travel by a commonly found bracket, or by doing some creative redrilling of the seat mounts. Take a few minutes and, believe me, you’ll be much happier in that driver’s seat.
@@TFLtruck it is no a problem to buy a disk brakes on timken axles. It is about 300-400$. Lockers (front and rear) and hydraulic steering kit is about 1000-1500$
My first jeep was a 1976 CJ7. It had a 258 cu six cylinder. It had 7 leaf springs all around, i added 2000 lb overload coils on four corners. If you didnt have your seatbelt fastened and drove over a dime, you would be out of the seat.
Here in Costa Rica that brand UAZ started to sell their cars since 2017, they sold the bukanta, the patriot a kind of luxury SUV and profi a workings pick up. Here all the cars must to be car is equipped at less with two airbags, seat belts and that all security request to get in the country.
If we were carrying water and ammo to the troops, the Buhanka can carry more. With the weight on the floor, the Buhanka would not be top heavy. It would be stable.
A few things to note: Mr trucks feigning of interest or acting is almost unbearable 🤣 Andre off-roading was stressing out so bad that I was getting stressed out understandably so he needs some bigger tires for that van at least or some roll bars so he doesn't tip also his I'm sorry that was not a family-friendly comment made me spit my drink out. Fun video, but it's kinda apples to oranges. The Buhanka is 100% utilitarian while the Jeep is all fun. If you want to bring some crew plus their equipment into Siberia for a hard day's work, the Buhanka is your choice, but if you want to go climb a mountain, have a picnic, or camp over night, the Jeep is your vehicle. :)

Easily one of the coolest vehicles in North America right now. I never knew these vans existed until now. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
Welcome back Mr. Truck, what a pair you guys make.
Thanks, good to be working with Andre
@@MrTruckTV
Well, the two of you together adds smiles to a video, so I hope we see more of you two together. 😁
@@Grumpy_old_Boot Me Too, hopefully at the IKE in a snow storm

... that was awfully specific. 😅
Thanks
Wow! I love the Russian Buhanka! I was very impressed by the articulation... if it only had lockers! Please keep more videos coming with the Buhanka!!! And never-never get rid of it!
It could use a good washing. But the entertainment value of this 4WD loaf of bread is off the charts. Maybe a modern drive train like a Jeep diesel and transmission?
left foot braking or pulling handbrake will equalise the open diff traction
13:44 f-bomb not bleeped 🤣, oooh Andrea 👈🏼. Awesome video by the way.
Mr. Truck looks like he was napping at 14:40 and was startled a little when he heard his name.
was here to say the same thing!
The expressions on Andray's face there at about the 17:35 mark, is priceless.
Good ol' Buhanka is ready for some interior build ups. Great overlanding vehicle.
That joyride with Andrey and Mr. Truck in the Buhanka made me laugh out loud! Glad you didn't fall off the side of the mountain guys.
Yes, I didn't bring helment
“I’m not sure we are allowed to see these” haha
Andre, I think we drop the GM 2.7 Turbo 4 from the Silverado into your van. Then lets put the Dana axles in it and see how it goes
I think so, all it needs is more wheel travel
I love how winded Andre gets when he's driving the van.😂
I bought a wrangler brand new in 1990. Put a four inch lift with 33’s front air locker and a lock right in the rear. I had more fun with that jeep than any other vehicle I have ever had. Sold it in 2005. I regret that decision more every year. That van is very cool reminds me of the jeep forward control pickups.
you should make real off road test: Russian NIVA against Jeep!!
like in old times- USSR vs Canada in hockey!
Thanks
@@MrTruckTV Sincerely, you and Andre are a great team. In a world where people are struggling to find a positive outlook, you 2 show how easy it is to enjoy the simple things in life. We need more people like you and Andre spiriting the masses along. :)
@@WW-wf8tu I appreciate that
There's heaps of tuning for that russian thing. Military ones have different specs and are pretty cheap.
And military ones have portal axles that give 8cm(3inch) of diff clearance and way lower gearing.
I used to have an older cherokee and explorer woth the 8.8, and my dad had a wrangler. This made me happy
Mr. Truck is so cute, animated and funny! 😂😂
Thanks I think, never been called cute before
@@MrTruckTV We need more of you on this channel! Love love love your persona!! You’re a good human being!!
@@justlivelovelaughfrugally Thanks for watching. Wonder what happened to the rest of the donuts?
Mr.
Yes, my old seat did move back. I have to work on it as loosing weight doesn't happen
we need more mr truck and buhanka together
Yes, write your congressman and demand it
Mr. Truck and TFL collaborations are always the best.
Thanks so much
If the buhanka had lockers itll be great cause it was flexing just as good as the jeep
Andre and mr truck love it when you guys are together makes my day
Thanks
I’m so embarrassed. He has a 1987 Jeep and that thing looks waaay better than my 21st century vehicle. 😂😂
I love the flames and chrome grill and bumper, but most folks don't like that look on a jeep
@@MrTruckTV Heeeeey Mr Truck. If you love it, then I do too. It’s your vehicle and your life. ❤️
@@justlivelovelaughfrugally Thanks
The UAZ's problem is the gasket, which is between the steering wheel and the driver's seat
That looked like a fun production.
LMAO 🤣🤣 I KEPT WAITING FOR ANDRE TO FLIP THAT THING ONTO ITS BACK.. BOUNCING UP THAT HILL LOL
Fantastic video, Andre, you have a great Russian van there! Enjoy!
Thank you!
You guys should do something with Matts off road recovery. Seriously.
That would be cool
The wheel articulation is spot on , just needs lockers 😁
Lol that thing is a 92? I was expecting it to be like a 68 or something. Crazy how that region was frozen in time for so long
The 452 first came out in 1965 (based on the 1958 450) and you can still buy one new today
A little more and Buhanka will again enter fashion trends)))
Here in Costa Rica that brand UAZ started to sell their cars since 2017, they sold the bukanta, the patriot a kind of luxury SUV and profi a workings pick up. Here all the cars must to be car is equipped at less with two airbags, seat belts and that all security request to get in the country.
I just found the Buhaaaanka series I’m loving this
Not a fair comparison, should run against an Astro van
That van flexes out hardcore!

Mr. Truck: I have no idea what you are? Andrea: I have no idea what I am. 😂😂 Sums up everything👌
If we were carrying water and ammo to the troops, the Buhanka can carry more. With the weight on the floor, the Buhanka would not be top heavy. It would be stable.
The advantage of the Bukhanka is that it can be repaired in any garage in any forgotten hole in the world, and practically for free..
The Jeep is nice, but can it sleep multiple people & go camping? No, no it can’t.
The high anxiety smile on Andre's face says it all. Now I want one!
Lol
Actually, adding bigger tires would only make it more unstable.
Adding lockers, however, would allow him to take things slower, and more safely.
LOL good to see a few laughs. Reminds me how much I enjoy going out in the trails with the boys in the old rusty farm trucks.
Just proves that it doesn't take 500+ hp to off road.
I've always liked how the UAZ looked and how basic they are.

Really enjoyed this episode. Mr. Truck's banter with Andre was hilarious. 👍
Glad you liked it
Cool, mid engine like the Pinzgauer (but that one is air cooled and has 3 lockers).
I love the videos with the Buhanka they are so fun
I'm watching this wonderful video from Russia😁 like you men! BUHANKA forever😂😂
