Nothing gets past you eh Derek, sorry Derrick, it was the sequence of Pilot then Episode #1 that had me thinking this episode 2 was nigh on inevitable! ;)
I've heard Ricky saying these things about atheism before many times. I think Brian Cox has a great point. I don't want to be defined by something that I don't believe. He's right.
I love Ricky's point on "how do we feel we have the right to ruin it for others" as in tearing down religion for those who are religious. I'm not spiritual or religious whatsoever but I can fully understand why it's so important for some people. I feel that for someone whose life has revolved around religion, saying God doesn't exist is the equivalent of saying to someone ".....you do know your dad doesn't really love you, isn't there for you and isn't thinking fondly of you?" Ideally we should have a loving and capable and supportive family, grounded in reality. But for many that isn't the case. My mum lost her parents at 22, so I've seen first hand how difficult life can be for some and also how they cope. And for many, the only 'love' they have in life is tragically from the belief that God loves them. We all want to have someone to look up to, to do proud and live by the rules they set us. So for those who don't have that, religious belief could be the difference between a life of misery and struggle and a life worth living
Wish people would stop moaning about Karl not being here. Its nice to hear Ricky back and I actually find the subject matter interesting, if you don't like it, don't listen. Simple :)
Gervais has a lot of room to grow as an interviewer/podcast host. He talks over the guests too frequently. It worked with the old podcast because of the chemistry between R, S and K, but it's quite grating in this new podcast series.
1. The comments are a disaster. Turn back. 2. Karl and Steve are not on this. Ricky is doing his own thing. Asking again and again in the comments is mind numbingly redundant. 3. If you don't like it then go and spend your time on one of the other billion+ videos on UA-cam and find something more to your liking. 4. Despites the morons in the comments there are plenty of us that are appreciative you are doing a new podcast and hope you do lots more
Agreed. It's like saying "I don't like Tom Hank's new film because he's not stuck on a dessert island in this one". It's a different project. You're wasting your energy wishing that this podcast is something that is not.
Ricky, love that you have an intellectual and musical slant on your podcast. My two cents. Its best when theres no cross talk. When someone talks over someone else its harder to follow or take the podcast sirius.
This is fucking great... just something supremely entertaining listening to a human conversation. And interesting for more than just the comedy, but to consider how people engage with each other.
If you want Karl pilkington then there's literally hundreds of hours of him on UA-cam. This is Ricky gervais taking passionately about things he loves and to people he loves or respects. If you don't like it, don't listen, certainly don't comment the same bollocks over and over again
Agreed. It's actually nice to hear some proper conversation for once, instead of Karl's inane nonsense, moronic views and outright nasty nature (which anybody who has listened to the XFM shows will know, he's really not a nice person).
This podcast ended just as it was starting to take off. I personally think the ground has been covered with atheism stuff now. Much more interesting hearing Cox talk about physics and the three of you discuss more random things in a humorous manner at the end.
Sauce Boss yeah deffo. I think it's clear the way he looks at it is - there's very few people who will watch ALL of his stuff, so he repeats stuff a lot.
Still a good listen. But it can't be denied that the original RG Show with Steve and Karl was special and now listening to this it makes you realise even more so.
I had suspected for some time that Ricky, in short interviews on American talk shows and longer interviews elsewhere, had started to omit Steve from his career résumé. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for two reasons: 1) I like Ricky and have done for years. I didn't want the suspicion to be proven correct and 2) how could someone reasonably go from "collaboration with Steve Merchant on The Office and Extras, among other things" to "ME ME ME ME" and think nobody will notice? My suspicions were confirmed when Ricky appeared at The Oxford Union a few months ago. He started in on the whole "I made this" and "I did that", consistent with his new stance, wanking on about being an auteur. Then someone asked him a compound question, explicitly asking about re-uniting with Steve and Ricky ignored that part of the question. Now he's on Sirius XM, again going over his career beginnings and surprise surprise, no Steve again. It's really fucking selfish and wrong. His omitting Steve from XFM is fine, up to a point, because he did famously hired Steve because his CV was top of the pile. But after they were booted and made that aborted talk/chat show with Jimmy Carr, it was _Steve_ who went to the BBC for a production course and ended up working on the World Service. If not for Steve, there would have been no Seedy Boss and there would have been no Office. So Ricky can engage in as much career revisionism as he likes, the record shows him as a liar. And those who wish to correct the record will do so. I think it's a cuntish thing he's done.
Lugh Summerson I feel a bit crappy for bringing up the whole issue I (and a few others, at least) have with Ricky & his recent revisionism. I still like him and listen to the old stuff often. I guess what it boils down to is that Ricky is extremely wealthy and successful and he does invest in maintaining a level of public affection. Moreover, on and off stage and screen Ricky promotes the idea of intellectual honesty and it's really this aspect of it that annoys me.
To be fair if theyve fallen out and are no longer friends then why would he still talk as if they are team, as far as i know hes never said "i did it, it was all me and nobody else" hes just gone from referring to them to referring to him, we to me....... seems like a natural thing to happen.
ua-cam.com/video/ueqK7hUrSBw/v-deo.html Steve went to america to pursue his career seperate from Ricky and found a girlfriend. Steve and Karl are still friends and talk often. i have no doubt that they have not fallen out.
I loved this as it really made me think..... especially the crossover between ‘God’ and the universe. Ricky, next time someone is defending the existence of god, simply ask, “so god made everything? Why did he create 2 trillion other galaxies? Was he bored after creating earth? Is there life within any other of these galaxies? Or did he just create 2 trillion other galaxies with billions of stars each to be barren expanses of space?” I’d love to know the responses you’d get 😂😂
This was actually funny. I thought with these Ricky was going to come across as a bit preachy like he does when he tries to be serious but at least he's having comics on to add a little humour.
Ricky, as much as we love you, please don't start using terms like "red shift" just to try and keep up with someone like Prof. Cox. It I'll behoves you.
I love Ricky but he butts in too much. Tried so hard to always be involved when a point is being made and he makes the same points in the same way in so many different recorded conversations. I agree with everything he says but i wish he'd discuss different topics sometimes
What blows my mind about science is that a lot of discoveries have been found out with MATHEMATICS before, and then experienced in real life. For example, after Einstein published his theory of relativity, his theory had been developed mathematically and an ''error'' was found. Those ''errors'' were the black holes. Just a couple of years ago an actual black hole was photographed so we finally had the VISUAL proof of the theory. The black holes were only demonstrated by mathematics and studied by theoretical physics but then...there they were!!! Mathematics is so fascinating! It would have been really nice to understand it...that's a pity I have to use my f*ckin fingers for adding 3 to 5.
Why do I want to be nice and go through life being pleasant and kind, but at the same time, when I see someone chew with their mouth open, or being rude to an elderly woman, I want to end their existence in the most painful way possible?
The Radiohead Creep song that Baddiel mentioned was probably Sitting on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. I often play both as a medley on guitar - the transition has great bathos.
+MrErnestCC I never said I'm being forced to listen. I chose to listen and then chose to leave a comment. What is your problem. There is a reason there is a comment section and guess what, it's too comment on the content and that's what I did. Everyone is allowed and actively encouraged to leave critical comments. I'm afraid your comment is there pointless one. No comment or critique of the video or content, just getting at someone for no reason.
He has replaced Merchant (the second best person of a famous duo) with Baddiel, and Karl (a scientist from Manchester) with Brian Cox.....so, no real change
Although there are some racists in the UK, they are in the very small minority and are loathed by everyone that isnt racist. I had a friend years ago, that I'd known for 6 years. YES! I was hoping Ricky would decide to do more of these.
Nothing gets past you eh Derek, sorry Derrick, it was the sequence of Pilot then Episode #1 that had me thinking this episode 2 was nigh on inevitable! ;)
Absolutely brilliant, My life is a much better place because you produce these, keep up the good work.
This might be the most sensible and enjoyable conversation I've heard for a very long time. Thank you :)
31:07 - Brian Cox joins
alyxi thank you
Thanks 🙏
I've heard Ricky saying these things about atheism before many times. I think Brian Cox has a great point. I don't want to be defined by something that I don't believe. He's right.
Baddiel and Cox! Great one Rick. Can’t wait to hear it.
Brilliant episode. Great conversations about life and the universe. One i'll be coming back to.
I love Ricky's point on "how do we feel we have the right to ruin it for others" as in tearing down religion for those who are religious. I'm not spiritual or religious whatsoever but I can fully understand why it's so important for some people. I can't reiterate enough how much I love this show. Keep it coming!
Wish people would stop moaning about Karl not being here. Its nice to hear Ricky back and I actually find the subject matter interesting, if you don't like it, don't listen. Simple :)
I've just started these and I bet they are on every fucking episode. Nothing else better to do with their time lol.
Really enjoyed this podcast! Looking forward to more! Would be cool to have David on regularly too!
As long as they keep up this calibre of guests, I'll keep listening. Good stuff!
Not a good video for someone (me) going through an existential crisis.
A great video for almost everything else. 👍
Plz do this twice a week
its very interesting
Nice job on bringing in Cox to provide the comedy
This is SO good!
Way better episode than the first. Very good topics and i agree with a lot of it
David says chimps should have rights, but I think we all know the the animals who have the most rights, even more than us, are the fish!
Luke Miles Yeah, don‘t rights come in numbers?
I'd say an octopus they have at least 4 rights.
Plus they did a census of the entire ocean remember
1:23:25 I love the fact that Cox referenced the "Are we the baddies?" sketch by Mitchell and Webb. :D
When I listen to ANY of Rickys radio shows I have to stop and search and listen to the track hes playing because he has such great taste!!!
Gervais has a lot of room to grow as an interviewer/podcast host. He talks over the guests too frequently. It worked with the old podcast because of the chemistry between R, S and K, but it's quite grating in this new podcast series.
Aye
That was very nice episode, so glad that you are making those podcasts
1. The comments are a disaster. Turn back.
2. Karl and Steve are not on this. Ricky is doing his own thing. Asking again and again in the comments is mind numbingly redundant.
3. If you don't like it then go and spend your time on one of the other billion+ videos on UA-cam and find something more to your liking.

crisisofconsciousness that's the plural of mongoose innit?
I'll judge the comments for myself thanks. Save the Nannying for your next Labour Party Conference.
You’re taking this too seriously.
5. Bring back karl and steve
Brilliant! Made my day in the office great
it's a good job brian cox is there to prop up floundering ricky talking about science
This is fucking great... just something supremely entertaining listening to a human conversation. And interesting for more than just the comedy, but to consider how people engage with each other.
33:00 where the good bid starts
enjoying this series so far, cheers
Talk over each other's points more, please.
When Brian is explaining complex astrophysics to Ricky, he's probably looking at him thinking "it's like when you talk to a cat!"
Love it, more more more! + Karl
This is great. Very funny
Brian Cox at 33:20

That's 95% of what Gervais has talked about for the past 15 years.
Jacob Anderson k
Kate Earl what's up?
I agree totally. Its just that Ricky, although he wouldn't admit it, he loves the low hanging fruit of religions ignorance to reality.
Sauce Boss yeah deffo. I think it's clear the way he looks at it is - there's very few people who will watch ALL of his stuff, so he repeats stuff a lot.

I’m happy Ricky is back in podcast form
"Anger turns up the volume about what you believe." Good one.
I really enjoyed this 😀
This podcast is amazing really great guests !! 10/10
David stop plugging the podcasts you're on its not becoming
Brian Cox has a voice that is so relaxing. Helps me sleep.
Great Podcast Ricky ..

What's worse is no mention of Rob Newman and only the fleetingest reference to D:Ream. I'm outraged!

this is hilarious!!
This is really great and interesting
Does anyone know where I can listen to a recorded full version of this with the music included? Great show by the way
MrErnestCC It's a radio show so maybe get Sirius XM?
Gets a lot better for me after the racism chat. Love the universe and physics chat
I loved this as it really made me think..... especially the crossover between ‘God’ and the universe. Ricky, next time someone is defending the existence of god, simply ask, “so god made everything? Great show, hope he does catch up with Karl even for one episode, it would probably be the most listened to podcast of all time
My only complaint about this video is the audio is a tad low. Great line up.
Turn your volume up.
I could listen to Cox all day..
51:20 Brian Cox say's something very interesting. You should have let him finish!
'But the point relative to our discussion is...' Gotta love Cox says a load of interesting shit but always brings it home
The realisation that we don't know what's beyond the universe (probably nothing) kept me from sleeping....it's so troubling.
👍completely agree
We want Karl
and steve
No they already did that. This is something else..
ewww so clingy.
it'll never be the same again. they've all changed. karl is a well-spoken scientist now.
Grow up.
Things can only get better ricky
The hate comments are half the entertainment haha. Keep this up Ricky (though you might want switch the overall volume up a bit for the next one)
Ricky, as much as we love you, please don't start using terms like "red shift" just to try and keep up with someone like Prof. Cox. It I'll behoves you.
33hegemon please dont try to sound smart and then completely fuck it up by saying "It I'll behoves you" you massive fucking idiot lol
Ricky Mckinnon - That was clearly autocorrect mate.
GET KARL BACKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!
Grow up.
The meaning of life is to uphold life, and the meaning of sentient life is to uphold as diverse life as possible.
# Things can only get better #
Why aren’t these available as a podcast?
0:56 nope Sacha Baren Cohen is way more famous
And talented
kentrel21 High five!
Maybe to people under 30
Only British Jewish comedian?!?!
STAINES MASSIVE!!!
Love this....missing Frank Skinner 👍🏼👍🏼
The sharpest wit
Awesome
LOVE ALL THE HATE COMMENTS....means you're doing a great job, Ricky!
Yes
Exactly
I love Ricky but he butts in too much. Tried so hard to always be involved when a point is being made and he makes the same points in the same way in so many different recorded conversations. I agree with everything he says but i wish he'd discuss different topics sometimes
Wow!! So many negative comments. Why bother? Just listen/watch something else.
So many sad sad people.
They are morons, give them time to grow up and they will come running back to enjoy great work by Gervais.
You never see an old man eating a twix

Yep, I was splitting my sides laughing & then.... the errors were black holes 🤯
Why do I expect Steve and Karl to be the series final to this
56:00 He got this from Sam Harris but doesn't give credit.
Ricky needs to give the other 2 a chance to speak, especially the prof.
Ricky even talks over Brian Cox, an expert on the subject of physics, as if he knows more than him. Unbelievable.
What's beyond death must be good,no one has ever come back and complained.
When is this put onto the podcast ?
Cmon Rick, remember on the XFM shows you said you wanted to get an astronomer and a doctor on call to talk to Karl? Get Karl back.
Ricky is the Karl of this series
Why do I want to be nice and go through life being pleasant and kind, but at the same time, when I see someone chew with their mouth open, or being rude to an elderly woman, I want to end their existence in the most painful way possible?
Brian Cox steps in, convo explodes. Sorry David, I'm not British.
this whole episode sounds like something that rickey would make fun of on XFM
No, it doesn't at all.
Clearly you are butthurt.
Jesus Christ. Why invite Brian Cox on just to talk over him and interrupt him? No wonder he never came back
When is this on iTunes?
The Radiohead Creep song that Baddiel mentioned was probably Sitting on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. I often play both as a medley on guitar - the transition has great bathos.
The Hollies - The Air That I Breathe. www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/01/08/radiohead-creep-stolen-hollies/
Just listened - they definitely have a case!!
Will you continue to upload this series on UA-cam?
+MrErnestCC I never said I'm being forced to listen. I chose to listen and then chose to leave a comment. What is your problem. Id love Karl on these topics ;-) Brian Cox is awesome with Ricky
Cheeky freak of the week
David Baddiel is a brilliant author.
He has replaced Merchant (the second best person of a famous duo) with Baddiel, and Karl (a scientist from Manchester) with Brian Cox.....so, no real change
Why was the pilot put as a podcast but the rest has to be on UA-cam???
Although there are some racists in the UK, they are in the very small minority and are loathed by everyone that isnt racist.
I had a friend years ago, that I'd known for 6 years. We had a party and I introduced a new friend (who was also a coworker). These existing friend asked me why I counted him as a friend. I said well, he got a lovely caring disposition. When I started with the company he went out of his way to help me find my way around. When I was working on a really big project (netted the company 10.5million quid on maintenance contracts) he made sure I had lunch, and was a real friend.
This friend turned round and said well, you havent got anything in common with him really, I mean hes well black.
My jaw hit the floor!!!! I said we have a lot more in common that with you... for example we're staying at this party and you aren't... I'd like you to leave please.
And unless you apologise to both me and my friend, lose my phone number and dont call round for tea or anything.
I'll get your coat....
I never spoke to her again....ever.....
"Head like a fucking middle aged jewish comedian" doesn't have the same ring to it.
53 seconds. Not his quickest but I respect his consistency.
just found this podcast series and the conversation on this one is fascinating to me
stop complaining about karl haha
I have enjoyed these, whilst working at my desk today, BUT....I would like to hear a bot more from the guest, not just Gervais churning out the same old shit he always does in interviews. I heard nearly nothing from Dawkins on his episode. Like the show. More guest input please.
