    I do hope at some point we get more options or control for the facial details, like slimming or widened eyes, sliding cheekbones, etc. Great video!

    What I mainly got from this tutorial that our body types are identical. Skinny guys with somewhat bad posture, unite!

    The dwarf was a bit too slender and not stocky enough for my personal taste, but then at the end you showed that lesser height can be compensated by increasing size of the torso and it looked just as I wanted. Thank you!

    Really nice, not my type of bodytypes i use, but a really good tutorial. Would really like to see a tutorial were you make overweight Heroes.
    The greater size advantage for better proportions is problematic for Weaponsize i think. Especially Greatswords will look to small. I hope the heroforge team will make a size slider for Weapons one day.

      It's difficult to make really fat characters in HF, but if you check out my "Building a D&D Party" video, you'll be able to see me do at least 1 short & overweight character

    I've noticed that a ton of variables in the body section have that 0.5 threshold, I've known its been there for a long time but the first time I measured it was on the new dragon heads where the nose Bridge suddenly spikes at 0.5. Anyways nice video
    Also nice melons

    • @Derfholm
      @Derfholm  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah - I don't think it's a bad thing. I like that HF gives us the option to go crazy past 0.5 even if it looks weird. That said, for beginners I think they might want to make that clear in the interface to avoid confusing people
      The melons appreciate the compliment I'm sure

    Personally not a super fan of the skinny legged dwarves but i guess thats just personal preference.

    • @Derfholm
      @Derfholm  2 роки тому

      I agree that dwarves should have stocky legs (that's what the clothes are for), but the problem with making the legs too thick, in my opinion, is that it makes the body look small by contrast, but it's all personal taste in the end of the day

    There´s something really weird about the scales in Hero Forge. I´m trying to recreate RP characters from an RPG with people ranging from miniscule to gigantic, so a span between 3 inches to 11 inches seems ok at a first glance, but it seems like a feet in the game is far less length-wise than in reality. Lets say a head on a medium sized person is about 0,66 ft ( or about 20 cm). If I want my figure to be a head shorter than another average-sized figure, I´d have to scale down my character FAR more than so to recreate this, which means that the height scale from 3-11 feet (91 - 335 cm) is in fact much smaller! I´m not sure why this is the way it is, but it creates lots of issues when one cannot trust the scale measurements. Also, since hands and feet aren´t scaled down below a certain height of the avatars (might be from 6`10 and down), it gets really hard creating realistic children and other small figure concepts when used together with average-sized figures, since hands and feet get proportionally larger with smaller avatars, and they´re already big to begin with. If I would only have one figure and didn´t have to care about its height compared to other figures, I could just size it up and resize its head to create an illusion of a child with smaller hands, but that´s not possible when used with other figures of varying sizes, small or big.

      @Rapotris 10 місяців тому +1

      i'm literally with the same problem, like the 3ft should be like a 91cm, but in HF 3ft is something like 135cm (i'm trying to undestand the scales to make all my RPG characters but its being really hard)

    It seems like the poses for the builds of the female characters have been changed, how is it we could get the poses too?

    • @Derfholm
      @Derfholm  2 роки тому

      I changed the ones which had poses I hadn't made myself, as I didn't want to give out that which I couldn't take credit for. I'm unfortunately not sure I still have the poses that were originally used, but I believe they can be found on the Community page. If you don't have Pro and can't access it, join the Discord and maybe you can be helped out in there

    the probelm with dwarves on hero forge is that there is no way to shorten the legs

  • @Dynamo33
    @Dynamo33 2 роки тому +2

    I think the body sliders past 0.5 should be separate, or maybe they should be just as slow to rise as the slider is when below 0.5, making the whole slider have more values. I like that you can go crazy with it past a certain threshold, but I feel like we lose out on the minute changes past the 0.5 line which just makes it feel inconsistent.

    • @Derfholm
      @Derfholm  2 роки тому +2

      I agree - I also think it's inherently quite unfriendly to beginners to have no stated treshold, and instead just go crazy as soon as someone unknowingly goes over 0.5

    I think you tend to make them a little too tall, and that also creates the problem of not being able to make them ride a steed, or sit, or do other things that are impossible for XL characters. Basically, if my character by default is 84, then I can't make anyone taller without cutting off some useful options.

    • @Derfholm
      @Derfholm  2 роки тому +3

      7ft does not count as XL - it's only if you go just above my usual preference that that happens, so I can still generally use the Mounts etc, but as to the previous point I can only say fair enough! it's subjective in the end of the day

    I'm probably the last person to discover this, but if you want your character to be 7 feet tall but don't want to pay the XL price, you can set the height to 6'11, put high heels on them, and that will make them appear taller without upping the price.

    How do you proportion with heels? Its always been lost on me

    • @Derfholm
      @Derfholm  2 роки тому +1

      Generally I don't tend to change proportions or measurements based on heels, it's more the posing that gets affected, as the models can sometimes look very stiff and upright after you smack heels onto them. I'd recommend starting with base poses with far-apart-feet, which keeps them from looking too, as aforementioned, stiff

    Dwarfs just can‘t look good in Hero Forge. You would need to be able to make the legs shorter and the whole torso wider not only the shoulders.
