This is A+ content. I'm far enough along that I usually find the Beginner level videos way too slow, but this one was too entertaining to skip
Just set your playback speed to 1.25 or 1.5 x, that's how I watch all the beginner videos these days
I agree wholeheartedly. The beginner content has been so interesting that it’s difficult not to watch it.
No matter how super my studies are going, large numbers or number combinations are my kryptonite so it’s not even a beginner video for those of us with this issue 😁
I know the numbers but there’s a processing latency!
who ever edited this video is a god. Also i will say Shelcin's video are always edited differently from everyone else's and they are SO entertaining and visually appealing. I am assuming she must be doing her own or hiring out, either way they do a great job.
i think it's her boyfriend, he is a videographer/photographer.
Always enjoy bigger videos with multiple teachers like this! I'm sure it's more work, but super fun to watch :)
Great video! I'd also love to know the comparative cost of renting apartments in the different areas, plus typical monthly household bills in addition to the cost of rent like electric, gas, water, internet, public transport, etc.
Okay, Andrea, please do a sequel where you buy all these things in Vancouver. I bet it would be like $75 CAD.
That is 54.98 USD which is similar to the cost in USA
Bravo!!! The DS team just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the great work. The premium subscription is definitely worth it. Thank you.
Shil's teaching is great! It seems she has the love and passion to be an actual instructor inside a classroom. I hope that she becomes a successful teacher someday.
Andrea... the nerve to grab RED DELICIOUS APPLES, IN WASHINGTON?
They're nasty 🤢 Fuji are better
Red delicious apples...the least delicious of all the apples.
Sugar bee taste the best imo
Im a Premium subscriber. Just finished all the Superbeginner series and started on Beginner. I loved this style but then I love the variety of videos you have, something for everyone. Keep up the great work. I like watching through your website (no YT ads) but jumped on here to leave you this message. Thank you guys.
Aprendes mucho del serie superbeginner? Puedes entender o hablar palabras y oraciones ?
@@El_SoldadoI am not a good test case. Spanish is foreign to my brain and I don't commit enough time to it.😂
Great video. Perfectly aimed at the level and I found the content super interesting. I would watch more price comparison videos!
Subbed within the first few minutes! This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you for creating this.
absolutely love this type of video!! anything showing real life things would be great to know from an anthropological perspective
I'm from one of the cheapest states in the USA (Oklahoma) and I still was shocked with how cheap groceries were in Madrid and Rome when I traveled last year. It was insanely cheap! And the restaurants too.
Yes, but you must consider our salaries. It’s definitely better to be in Spain as a lower income person, but adjusted for salary differences, the U.S. is rather cheap, especially compared to Latin America.
This is awesome team!!! So fun to watch, great review of many nouns and excellent practice on numbers. Will have to watch this one multiple times to get my numeric practice more solid. Please more videos like this!!!❤
Gracias!
Great video! Ideas for comparing: national holidays, holiday traditions, campus life, back-to-school shopping, what it is like to give birth in each country (i.e. length of stay in hospital, what hospital room / hospital food is like, nursing vs bottle feeding), crime, and fast food.
Great video. Very practical for learning basic vocabulary, and showing the differences in some of the words and way of speaking in different countries. My guess is you guys won some kind of Dreaming Spanish performance contest, and got rewarded with this video, but that's just a fun guess. Thanks for the very useful video - I'm saving it on my list on the website for sure to watch again later.
Great video! Washington state is one of the more expensive places in the U.S. - groceries are somewhat cheaper in the Midwest.
Safeway is a very expensive store. She should have gone to Winco or Grocery Outlet instead.
@@boink800 Agreed lol
This type of video style was engaging and entertaining ❤I really did learn some more Spanish language from this video thank you guys 🎉
I loved this one! I think the videos filmed at different locations are more interesting and engaging.
More videos like this please! 💯
Great content, love videos like this. At over 600 hours, I rarely watch beginner videos, but this was great. Please make more similar to this :)
Great video. One thing to note is that groceries in Colombia are very cheap compared to USA and Spain. Shel found the most expensive bottle of water for this comparison, which is an American brand for 5.000 COP. The water bottles that most Colombians buy cost 1.000 COP for 1 liter in Èxito, which is less than .25 USD. That would have made for a better comparison.
they are also terrible quality.
This was great to listen to! Slow but still interesting, natural sentences.
Cute video. All of you guys are great .
Wow…this is soo true. I live in the United States and the food prices are higher than both Spain, Colombia and Mexico…and the fruit and veggies in the states are not as good..another great video..keep up the good work
very interesante!!
Muchas gracias por la video !
Very interesting. From what I know Shelcin lives in Cartagena, right? It would be nice to know if Cartagena is more expensive than Bogota. I would love a video comparing prices between Cartagena and Bogota. Shelcin and Natalia could make a video on this topic.
Jumbo’s (and others like Exito, Euro and Carulla) prices seem pretty consistent throughout Colombia. I can’t recall the exact price but the Air BnBs we stayed in while in Cartegena seemed to offer less value for money compared to Bogota and Medellin.
Great video. Appealed to the Economist in me.
Quite surprised at how similar the prices were between Spain and Colombia, considering that Spain is far more economically developed.
How can I get Shelcin’s beer? Thanks in advance 😅 14:58
9:03 Error in the caps $1.16
That Safeway must have just been out of lactose-free milk at the time. I'm pretty sure they all carry it!
Other things to compare prices of: clothing, travel / public transportation, entertainment, electronics
Can you add the list of groceries to the description or in the comments so we can all play along?
Great video
Buen video!
Housing with a realtor giving you guys tours. It'd be super intersting to see
In Australia 6 coronas from BWS cost $27AUD which is the equivalent of $18USD
Rice price from Colombia has VERY wrong dollar conversion price.
Really good video though.
Indeed, but to be fair, Shel did say 1.16, it's only on screen that they made a mistake and wrote 0.16
Great video guys, love it ❤. Welcome to Morocco, it's much cheaper 😂
This was a fun video! How about hot dogs or apple pie for US foods? It’s sad but typical.
Interesting video! Learnt that potatoes can be pronounce papas and patatas; and that aguacate in Colombia are the size of papas/patatas! I have so many preguntas after watching este video: Is it not allowed to film in Spain's supermercados? Did Andrea moved from Canada to Estado Unidos? Does Shelcin generally T-pose everywhere she goes 😂?
I'm pretty sure Andrea lives in Vancouver which is close to the border, and that she was at her friend/student's house in Washington state, who she showed us in another video.
It's a different type of avocado! They have both whereas where I live we only have Hass avocados, like Andrea's
According to General Data Protection Regulation (a Spanish law that guaranteed and protected the processing of personal data, public liberties, and fundamental human rights, and especially of personal and family honor and privacy) you can't filming faces, plates or every single thing that allows someone to be identified, even on the street. And it isn't allowed to film in supermarkets, shops, museums, public transportation, etc, etc. The fines are stratospheric.
X2😂
Hola from España 👋Great video! Long live Mercadona 😄👌
13:18 jajsjajajajajaua y ese aguacatico
🤣
ability (English) = capacidad (Spanish)
habilidad (español) = skill (inglés)
Ummm Andrea… you don’t say Hot Pockets in the US - you sing it.
Oof. I can't deny Hot Pockets are a characteristic American grocery store item, but still, that hurts.
Less painful choices might be hot dogs or, amusingly for this sort of video, hard taco shells - every grocery store in America will have them, and they were invented here.
Interesting video. Not sure where in the US Andrea was, but those prices were a bit or, in some cases, way more expensive than I pay in Florida.
In the video she says she was in Washington state.
Where in FL? I'm in Miami, and the prices here are even higher.
Washington (and Oregon / CA) is sort of expensive compared to other parts of the country. And places like Publix and HEB are way better than competitors in the NW like Safeway, Albertsons, etc.
@@princessleira2663 ah, thanks! I guess I forgot or missed that lol.
@@valsobe4638 far north, near the Georgia border.
Do you know Mexico and Colombia are also Americanos?
Andrea, you back in Spokane?
necesito mudarme a colombia, aquí me cuesta $60 o algo
Quiero las coronitas de shel 😂😂
Oh yeah, content focusing on numbers, with most of my fav teachers in DS!
It’s amazing how hideously overpriced groceries in the US are. Note that Andrea didn’t grab a lot of branded items like with the eggs. (I bet the totals would’ve been 1.5-1.75x if Andrea shopped at Whole foods market haha)
She went to a very expensive store, Safeway, that's why. If she's living in Washington, she could have gone to Winco or Grocery Outlet.
Como se llama el canal de Andres?
Oof this makes me want to keep traveling in Latin America… although some things are crazy expensive (cars, phones, etc.).
wow washington is so expensive!!
Washington is expensive, but Safeway is also an expensive grocery store.
Inflation really curb stomping EEUU 💔💔
Y que tal si en México? Cómo se compara?
It's not cheap to buy groceries in Florida. I buy organic, so I'm racking it up with the bill. I'm from Colombia lol and the bananas for sale here come from there. I miss some of the amazing tropical fruits available there.
How come the water is the same price as the milk???!!!
Yes, the United States is the most expensive of the 3 countries, but if you take into consideration the average salary in each country, the US spends 6.7% of their income on groceries, Spain 15.4% and Colombia 18.5%. So in that sense, groceries are actually quite cheap in the US.
I bet we spend a lot more on fast food and restaurants though.
On groceries the average US citizen spends an average of 11.3% of their salary on groceries, and the average Spaniard around 13%. But considering the difference in food quality I feel it is not really a big difference.
In reality the exercise is not very precise. For example, the girl in the USA looked for, as she herself says in the video, the cheapest possible, while the girl in Colombia chose the most expensive brands (I say this as a Colombian, those eggs are luxury, just like the paper hygienic for example). As if that were not enough, unlike the USA where you have to buy your food in these large stores, it is not the same in Colombia, since here there are grocery stores in every neighborhood or street if you want and the prices are Cheaper than going to these department stores. I buy 30 eggs for 4 dollars.
People normally don't shop at these stores unless you have money, go with a credit card or because you receive bonus payments from the company where you work. Those looking to buy cheap, most people, do not shop in these places.
@@javierroa2171 But Andrea shopping in the USA also chose an expensive grocery store chain. I rarely go to Safeway, only when there's no other option, and I'm always shocked by how expensive it is compared to other grocery stores.
I thought the same thing. It’s not an accurate comparison. When I saw the Colombian toilet paper I thought that it seemed like luxury-expensive taste. I think most of the teachers on DS are middle class people so it may just be what they’re used to.
I can confirm that Washington state has a LOT more types of apples than Colombia, I am from Washington state and am living in Bogota and the apples back home are so much better.
I like how all of us can unite on the price of avocados being out of control.
US è caro mas as pessoas ganham bem.
Prices are very helpful because most of us are planning to vist or move
where is Andrea shopping at'?? That is ridiculous prices omg
At a Safeway in Washington state.
Safeway is very expensive. She could have shopped at Winco instead. Winco can be 20 to 30 percent cheaper than Safeway.
A mi no me gusta cerveza 🍺
Me enconada esta video bien 👍🏾 hechos
Colombia or Mexico is looking better everyday day! 😃
EXACTAMENTE! PRECISO! 😂
Shel és Linda...
Me gusta tomar cervezas 🍺 ❤
Whole foods is always expensive.
She was at Safeway, 0:00
lol I was like wait...tree balls??
