    I brought mines in 2020,and you're right the moment I put the 1st Blu ray in I was amazed.Especially how it upscales all my old DVDs to 4k. And no more buffering all disc I put in plays within 3 secs.This my 1st Blu ray player period.I always had dvd players and what a great upgrade.And don't think I'll need to replace this Blu ray player for like 15+ years.

    I have this player along with the Panasonic ubp 820 and I prefer this one over the Panasonic. The Panasonic has been massively overhyped. The Sony is just as good as the Panasonic, it's just that it has more useless adjustments in my opinion. The remote for the Panasonic is the worst designed I have ever used. The door mechanism of the Panasonic sounds like it is operated by chains whereas the Sony door is silent and glides. In my opinion the Panasonic ubp820 is a waste of money because there is nothing that is spectacular about its performance.

      @@jamesorsby7553 No, I haven't had any issues with the player. It has performed flawlessly. A word of advise from my personal experience, do not ever purchase a LG player. The third one was locked up as soon as I got home and plugged it in and I instantly returned it.

      Hey, I just picked up a UB820, use it on a LG C1, I can barely tell the difference between my 4k discs in Dolby Vision and streaming the same movie in Dolby vision. Was going to return cuz it’s not worth $450 for what little difference I see. Still want a 4k disc player tho; have you had any of the supposed freezing or skipping people claim exists on these Sony players? I can find these less then half price so certainly would prefer to save the money especially if these look better with Dolby Vision.

      Sounds like you have an excellent setup, and all of these components will support both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X so you may want to double check the audio settings. From there, you could consider upgrading the audio system. Most folks would run the player into the TV and then from the TV to the sound bar.

    Can it play Multichannel SACD through HDMI? If yes - how can this be done, how to connect it and to what devices/inputs can I connect it to achieve it? For example, can all 5.1 receivers handle this HDMI data and play the DSD coming out of the SACD into all 5.1 channels? I've never owned a receiver, so I imagine there are some tricks that should be done if I want to use it just for Surround/Multichannel SACD.

It plays discs fine, the sound quality is great as is the Bluetooth. but I''m a privacy freak, and when I set it up to get youTube, their privacy agreement stipulates that if you do not accept their data collection policy, they will NOT ALLOW access to youtube. This is preposterous, of course, but I'm not going to subject to this stupid policy. I had the X700 player which suddenly stopped working, and it will probably be prohibitive to fix. Stuff it Sony.

    Hello! I was hoping you could help me. I have a 65" Sony X90J Bravia. How does the UBP-X800M2 do at upscaling standard definition DVDs to HD 1080 and 4K? Anything close to the OPPO 203? I've never seen one of those in person, just videos here on UA-cam. Does the UBP-X800M2 do a better job than the native upscaling within my Sony Bravia TV itself or will I not really see any difference? I'm currently running a Toshiba BDX1250 Blu-Ray player. Thank You Very Much for Your Time!

      The Sony UBP-X800M2 does an excellent job upscaling your non-4K video content to 4K Ultra-HD (3,840 x 2,160). Combined with your Sony 4K TV, you'll get top notch video quality regardless of the source.

      @@crutchfield Thank You SO MUCH for getting back to me. I TRULY appreciate it. I have an extensive DVD collection and countless films and tv shows that will never see a blu-ray or 4K release, so I am VERY glad to hear this. I really researched all the different types of technologies used in 4K TVs (OLED, etc.) and ultimately went with the X90J BRAVIA after seeing my friend's previous year model and how WELL a DVD he had of "The Expendables" that we watched looked on it. Previously, I was certain that I didn't want to go any bigger than the 55" (my APEX TV that had done good by me for about 10+ years, was failing and it was 47") as I figured anything bigger and DVDs would start to look noticeably pixelated but when I saw how detailed the DVD looked on my friend's 65" inch, I was really impressed and decided to make the jump. I have one last question if you have the time. Could you please help me to better understand the technical workings of how exactly the upscaling works when the Sony UBP-X800M2 is hooked up to my Sony X90J? Is it then the UBP-X800M2 player that will be doing ALL of the upscaling work by default, or will the upscaling of the player, then be further upscaled/enhanced by the X90J TV itself? In other words, do they work TOGETHER to produce the best possible picture quality, or do I have to CHOOSE in the individual device's settings which device does the upscaling by default, and ultimately only ONE of the devices will truly be performing the upscaling? And if that is the case, I'm assuming that I want to set the UBP-X800M2 player to be the default for upscaling and not the TV? Does the UBP-X800M2 player actually have BETTER upscaling technology than the X90J TV? Who will be the REAL HERO in the end? Thank You SO MUCH for your time. I really appreciate it. I've also read about HDMI cables that cost about $125 dollars and claim to have upscaling technology built directly into them. Any truth to those claims? I have only "high speed" HDMI cables right now that are about 10 years old and at the very least, I'm guessing I need to upgrade to a "premium high speed" for OPTIMAL picture quality? Is there a particular brand of "premium" HDMI cable that you would recommend? Sony states on their website "What type of HDMI cable do I use for 4K content? We recommend using a 4K HDMI cable (High Speed HDMI Cable with 18 Gbps bandwidth) or a Premium High Speed HDMI cable." I don't currently have any of the newest gaming consoles, but it is something I plan to get in the next year or so, and it's my understanding for that, I'll want a premium HDMI cable with 60FPS capabilities. I was planning on getting a couple of the new Ultra High Speed cables that are capable of 48Gbps. I'm guessing I can't go wrong with them? Thanks Again for Everything. I'm browsing the Crutchfield website now.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 роки тому +2

      You're welcome. You'll get the best results in most cases combining the upscaling feature with these two. You can certainly tweak things though to see what you like best. I did test it twice, always the same shit ... oh, and they advertise and I have also seen a review when they show how you can change captions for the subtitles in the system settings ... well good news, my player doesn't have this option, this setting is missing, instead of that I got a setting for the sound of the keys on the remote, which is so stupid ... I am gonna return it :(

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  7 місяців тому +1

      Based on that showing on the screen, it sounds like the multichannel SACD layer is being read. Maybe its not been set up to output it as a multichannel audio if you are only hearing 2 channel audio. We think it is worth checking the output mode settings. If they are set to output multichannel audio, then this issue is something that requires troubleshooting by a technician. We hope it is a simple output mode setting issue and is an easy fix for you!!

    I noticed when I play a 4K disc my display says HDMI INPUT is in 7.1 ch. Then my HDMI OUTPUT says 5.1 ch. I wonder why my HDMI OUTPUT never says 7.1 ch Sound. Does it have something to do the fact that I have my Sony 4K tv hooked up to a Sony Dolby Atmos Soundbar? It is Model HT-G700 Soundbar.. I saw in a review of this player on youtube that the output was in 7.1. So I am thinking I need to change a setting somewhere. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks

      It sounds like you are trying to get the most audio coming out of the player. For SACD discs, that is DSD. The HDMI port is the only one that can output the DSD format. Ideally, that will run to a receiver or preamp that can read DSD files.

      If you are using a 2-channel setup Sathish, you can still integrate the Sony UBP-X800M2 as long as you have a digital coaxial input connection available. Looking at the specs on the Cocktails Audio N 25 there is indeed one coaxial digital input connection. This would be ideal, as you would be using the Sony as a transport only and leaning on the Cocktails for the DAC conversion and sound quality, an excellent call. You would need to connect with HDMI to your TV or monitor and use a digital coaxial connection to your DAC.
