Yamaha guitars are seriously underrated! I dunno if it because Yamaha manufacture so much different stuff, it's their marketing, or it's because people in general immediately just associate the name with outboards, bikes or classic synths like the DX7? I just remember that back in the day, the Pacifica was the first affordable guitar range that was actually really good!

They are well regarded for their acoustic pianos. I have been playing a Yamaha dreadnaught for decades. I recently thought I wanted a Taylor grand auditorium. I went in to the store and A/B the Taylor with a Yamaha of the same style. I was in there for over an hour, back and forth. The Yamaha won.

I think a lot of people who are saying "Why would I pay that much for a Pacifica?" forget that the Pacifica was initially a super high end line of guitars back when they came out. This is just taking the Pacifica back to where it should be, and if the original high end models are anything to go by will be worth every penny.

"High End"? we sold them for $599 in '91 at Bizzarre Guitar in Phoenix. They were considered a cheap alternative to a Strat... nothing special. They came with a Seymour Duncan '59 and SSL-1's big deal. They're still nothing special and y'all are delusional thinking these things are worth anywhere near the $1,100 and $1,900 they're extorting for these things. Same with ESP demanding $1,699 for the new Indonesian made LTD George Lynch Desert Eagle... equipped with a cheap Korean Floyd Rose 1000. Absolutely ridiculous. This price gouging by these companies is nothing short of criminal.

Pat Metheny is my favorite guitarist. Alex Lifeson is a favorite in his genre of music for me. Tim Pierce is technically sound and a favorite guitarist for me. But, you, sir, are now my favorite guitarist aside from Pat Metheny. You come up with the most pleasing melodies, and your creativity is second to none. I anticipate your reviews. You are only second to Pat Metheny because I love the music of Pat, Lyle, and the Pat Metheny Group. If you hooked up with a Lyle Mays type pianist/keyboardist; a Steve Rodby type bassist, and a Paul Wertico type drummer and played jazz, then you just might beat out Pat. But, you would have to occasionally include his synth-guitar tone. Lol. Take care.

The only thing i will complain about is that you have to buy the more expensive version to get the 10" radius at the first fret and 14" radius at the 22 fret.. I do not like a 13.75" flat radius down at the first couple of frets.. feels to flat for cowboy chords.

@@ChidOkiI just mean that they priced the mid-tier revstar (SS frets, chambering, carbon-fiber reinforced neck) at 800 and this is basically this same but actually without carbon fiber and with a whammy bar but somehow the it's500 more. I mean it's still a pretty good deal I just think the pricing is inconsistent.

@@pmcate2 Oh I see. I’m not saying it’s justified, but i think they’d probably point to the Reflectone pickups and the cost it took to R&D and manufacture that brand new product within the model as the reason for increased pricing. Or, they realized they underpriced the Revstar Standard and now need to make up for it haha

I don’t understand why it’s different than Fender making 5-6 different price points for Stratocasters. Just because they have made in Mexico ones for $600 doesn’t make me associate them with cheaper guitars, I know that the $2,500 ones have different specs

Sounds like the single coils are not noiseless so not that inovative IMHO. Why are we putting up with 60 cycle hum in 2024? For the price I'd rather get a 112 which is created great using machines with my fave wood of alder for body and maple for neck and shove some dimazio areas in it wit a wilkinson trem at a fraction of the price.

I’m sure it plays great. The pacificas are my fave s style coz they’re built great use alder and have a better neck radius and a hss config with coil split. I have 112 that’s great. Just saying for lead using the neck pickup you need noiseless and I reckon your better off modding a cheaper model coz the bones of their cheap guitars are great.

Yamaha high-end stuff is all great. Just remember you're buying it to keep it. If you're looking for an investment, get a Fender stratocaster to get your money back. Nothing is the original unless it's a real Fender. But Yamaha makes awesome guitars and bass.
