Great demo. I owned a variation of this Pacifica which came with a Duncan P90 in the neck instead of the middle and neck single coils. The bridge pickup was still the formidable Duncan Custom 5 which is my favorite pickup of all time. I've owned many Pacificas since the early 90s and couldn't recommend them more highly. I think the HSS pickup array is the best overall for versatility.
I've never come across a bad Yamaha guitar. I currently own an SA2200. It's great. Back in the day I had the cheapest Pacifica which I modded to make it a midi controller for a Roland GR55. It was well made and so easy to set up. This helped the midi pickup to track very well. I also had a TRB1004 bass which again was flawless. Yamaha seem to have very good Q.C. across the range.
I on the other hand have no desire before to play a Yamaha electric guitar. I guess i'm not too keen on how they look. But i liked the old semi solid ones that Yamaha had 🤓✌
If Yamaha would get their heads out of their arses and offer more mid-range models of the Pacifica, they would dominate the market. The 611 and 612 Pacificas are some of the best Strat-style guitars on the market.
Mid-range? There are Pacificas from under $200 USD to this one that goes for $649 USD retail--and you can often get at least 10% off if you ask or look around. 🤷🏻♂️ Not sure what you mean.
lulwat? They make a guitar SKU at *every* mid-range price point and most entry-level price points. This one is my fave partially because of how cheap it is for the quality and equipment on offer. Not a fan of the looks though.
The rs502 series are fantastic guitars for the money and are about $70 canadian, less than this Pacifica. Im planning to buy the rs502 next. For now enjoying my pac012.
@@dragan4658 i have both a pacifica 611 and a revstar 502 and i'd say it's a matter of taste. The pacifica in my opinion gives something more for the money, with Ducan pickups, locking tuners, wilkinson bridge and the humbucker in the bridge is a bit more versatile than having double p90s. The Revsstar 502 has more of a gibson vibe if you like that, short scale, mohogany body and neck, set neck. My advice is to buy the 502T, the tail piece bridge is more reliable than the wraparound on the 502 imo, wrap around bridges can age badly and tend to lean forward into the wood with time.

I was very tempted to get a mint used one recently, but I ended up purchasing a MIJ Ibanez Roadcore instead I still think those Yamahas are great for the money. The 611 is also a very nice model. I see that you commented on the long top horn not being to your liking. However, when playing standing, with a strap, that strap pin at the 12th fret will make the guitar sit at the perfect angle, and impeding neck dive :) Beautiful playing as usual Jon. Thanks!

Very nice looking, and great sounding guitar! Thanks for the review. I’ve never thought to consider Yamaha for electric guitars, but you’ve definitely changed my mind!
The opening demo you did had a fantastic rock tone to my ears. Love Yamaha products, it’s guaranteed quality. The spec for the money is great value. You may have enjoyed it better if it was set up how you like, but I’m sure you did anyway. I think this guitar is more set up for rock, the clean tones were still good, but that rock tone was superb. I may add one to my collection one day, but I’d wait to get one second hand, then it will be a steal. Great to see you trying out other makes. If you get a chance try out an Eastman guitar. It's very interesting to see and hear how the construction of a guitar can change the tone we associate a pickup with. To my ears the SSL have a very different tone to what they offer when installed in a traditional strat, more voxy and midrangy. In fact I have to say that I don't like the tone of this model in general terms. On the contrary, the Pacifica 611 is one of the best sounding guitars in its price range (in my opinion).

I wonder if they should have used SSL-2 to complement the radius?
Everyone should! Lol
Jonathan which guitar do you really like that has a flowing tremelo bar ? Up to $1.200 American dollars

@@JonIsJustTooLoud thank you for responding so quickly;) I was thinking about the CST-24 T or an SC-550.
Hey Jon! Great stuff as always - I love it brother! I was able to get my hands on a G&M strat-style guitar with a roasted maple neck and fretboard. They are pretty rare here in the states. It’s a nice instrument. Have you ever played one?
Go Wait in the Truck no I have not!! Where are they made? 😁
@@JonIsJustTooLoud They are made in China and say they are made for musicians by musicians... here is their facebook - facebook.com/guitarsandmoreasia/
@@JonIsJustTooLoud China but I think its a good brand.

I have a yamaha 112, and i dreamt so long about owning this guitar "pacifica 612" but it sadly never materialized
From the specs I’ve seen, the Yamaha 112 looks to be a very nice guitar at a great price!
But you can upgrade your guitar and make them 612 specs..
@@ochd1502 trust me it's not worth it, my 112 is an old model made in Indonesia, quality isn't good, crappy tuners ,pots, tremolo and low frets
@@bobbya8622 the Squier is a better guitar

You’re welcome John ✌️❤️
I have this guitar. I love it!
Awesome!!
@@JonIsJustTooLoud I too am impressed with this guitar. The build quality is excellent for a guitar at it's price point. It is a beautiful looking guitar. The sound is also amazing. No pu changes needed.
i may buy the Yamaha 812w, do you think is a good model?
Yes..i think it's ok✌♥
What route do these have? Swimming pool or other?
Not too sure ✌️❤️
I own one 612. Mine come damaged (they neck was not aligned) was imposible to return it. I do not like the tone.
Francesco Narducci Do sorry to hear that.. why can’t you return it??
Thinking about getting one.. better than a mex strat?
Depends...
If they put on a pafish pup on the bridge, it would be just killer
✌️❤️
Dam you are good!
Thank you Robert ✌️🤓
