I own an SA2200 like this and it is a wonderful guitar. I have owned several Gibson ES models and this guitar is right up there. Great bang for the buck. Love the Ebony board.
I have a Yamaha SA2200, purchased 3 years ago in Bordeaux in France 3 years ago. For me it is the most beautiful and best guitar in the world. And it costs cheaper than the 335 major emblematic brands. When you have this guitar, you never sell it, you keep it until its death! Many thanks for this video :)
Japanese instruments are made by soul. Others are made by technology. The more money you gave the more quality u get. That’s why I love every MIJ instrument Such as Yamaha phx drum, montage and motif keys, bbne5 , trb 5 , jp2 bass , bb3000, AC5R , Silent 100, APX 2000, SG2000 and SG3000.
I agree so much i have a 90’s 62 tele with mother of toilet seat binding. And joe bardens. Destroys every guitar esp japan builds the best metal guitars also have a 99 ibanez
That guitar plays great, but also sings. Great coloring and processing. Very beautiful and the video too. I have one of a similar type from the company Gretsch, it is good, this one looks in a different league. Greetings, Pavel CZ👍
Great review, and great sound! I have an SA2200 on order and can hardly wait to play it. All reviews I've seen on UA-cam on this guitar have been exemplary. I'd recommend giving this model a try before heading to the Gibson rack ... or even try both. You'll probably wonder why Yamaha makes an equal or better instrument for a lower price, though this is Yamaha's top line model, and even throws in the coil tap, something I've never seen on a Gibson 335.. The Yamaha Japanese custom shop has great QC and has been historically underrated. I also have the NTX5 nylon string acoustic on order and already have a Revstar, soI feel these guitars together will offer a wonderful range of tones.
Great playing jon. I have been looking at these for several years also just couldn't ever find enough money at one time. Finally things worked out tomorrow one will be delivered by ups. This will be the best of them all i have. I wanted just one excellent guitar .
This is an amazing guitar, and it's a shame that it is so expensive. Yamaha is one of the best instrument manufacturers in the world. You´re playing Jon, which is, as always, amazing. You´re my favorite guitarist. Keep it up!
It's $2899 Canadian at the moment. A comparable Gibson 335 is $4000. Epiphone's "Inspired By" line are $900. Any signature knocks on $1500. Certainly not cheap, but I think it's in a respectable sweet spot. And you're right, Yamaha is a fantastic instrument manufacturer and Jon's playing is always on point.
@hectorm.s You said it: "amazing guitar" and "so expensive" and man does that instrument ever scream premium quality and expensive even at first glance!
The core tone was beautiful. Combined with pickup switching options, different amps and pedals, diverse playing styles, a very fine versatile guitar. As is the Gibson 335 and Collings I-35. Thank you for that one Jon….perfection🙏🏼
That is my kind of a 335. The guitar is open with a nice woody tone. I like the pickups and all the versatility. I like the Sire Larry Carlton S7, I hate to say that this guitar blew it out of the water, but this Yamaha is so good (The Yamaha in the USA is $2,699 and the Sire is $799) I like it a lot!!
Sounds great! I have a friend that has a similar Yamaha. I have a Artcore Ibanez that I have had since 2003. Love the hollow body guitars! I had a Yamaha SG-200 back in the 1980’s. Yamaha are great guitars!!!! My first guitar is a Yamaha G85A. My dad bought it in 1973 in Papua New Guinea! I learned to play on the mission field back then!
Hi Jonathan, one word, ‘smooothe’. Love the appointments, design/colour combination. Tones were great delivering a satisfying sound. Great review of a well made instrument. Cheers ✌️🎸💜
Thank you Mr Jon Is Just Too Loud for your amazing review ! This Yamaha is Wonderful, watching you play it is a Delightful Pleasure! Each of Playstyle makes all guitars you touch, very uniq
So beautiful I had to get one! Had mine a few years now and its such a nice guitar in every way. I really ought to play it more than I do. Mines in violin burst same as in this video. There's a couple of videos on youtube comparing it to the Gibson ES335 and they sound slightly different but one could prefer one over the other and the next day switch - they both sound great. The Yamaha though is like Custom Shop level of beauty - where the regular production 335 is a bit of a plain jane. And considering these flawlessly built Japanese guitars are considerably cheaper than the ES335 for me that's a win! To get this level of beauty along with the great sound from Gibson you'd have to go Custom Shop to get a match. Played a real 335 in a music store a few years ago and it was nice, but not this nice!
Hey Jon, man is that a nice treat for all of us out here with you performing on this lovely hollow body. ps I absolutely love you guys performance "Our God". I sent it out to friends.
I got one😊 perfekt Yamaha qualitity, very versatile, Looks gorgeous, plays gorgeous, Sounds gorgeous. Beside my SG2000, Weddingtons and Yamaha Costum Shop PAC the best guitar I ever played and owned. Superior to most ES335.
What Superb looking instrument, beautiful colour, and sounds absolutely Fantastic!...great Tonal qualitys...helps when its played by a super guitarist!!😊😊
Nice job jonathon, I've had my eye on this yamaha for a long time..I have 3 yamaha's already, but this one is a real beauty..I think you have pushed me over the edge.. yikes, looks like I'll soon have my 4th yamaha..
I have wanted to own one of these for a very long time--back to the early '80s when it was the SA 2000. But, the neck on these is far more slim than my hands can deal with. If Yamaha made this with an option for a '50s Gibson neck carve, I'd be on it in a heartbeat....!!
Beautiful guitar, and great playing as usual - you always bring out the best in an instrument you're reviewing! I have a 1982 LEFT-HANDED SA1000 that I bought from Japan around 12 years ago; I paid around $1,000 shipped for it! (The SA1000 is laminated Sycamore with the dark red stain [like a trad. Gibson 335]). Everything on it is original, and it is a wonderful playing and sounding instrument. It is truly the last "brand-name" electric I will sell (I have a number of lefty Warmoths I've built that will stay, of course).
Awesome, just wish they made a left hand version of this. Sire H7V to the rescue but Yamaha makes great instruments and bikes. Way to make it sing Mr Jon.
Nice! I love double cutaway slim hollow bodies. I tried to resurrect a 72 Framus Atlantic that spent too many years in a kids toybox, and an unknown amount of time in the trunk of a car without a case. Electrics were all gone, I had to put quarter inch of shims under the neck just to make make it playable. (Beautiful neck though) The binding was separating and body was severely warped at the neck. Broke my heart. My niece has it now for an art project. HB makes one I like. I'll probably get it.
I had bought one for my godson back in 2017 in Hong Kong from Tom Lee Music. The listed price was HK$17000 something. Fortunately, I knew their manager and I always brought a lot of friends to shop at the shop so I got it $13000. 😅 The guitar is in Toronto with my godson now. He and his family had left Hong Kong, last year. Many people had left since 2020.😅 I had shared your video with him through WhatsApp.
An excellent alternative to this guitar is the Eastman T59/v, which I own and that won out over the dozen or so 335s and 339s that I tried out at my three local Guitar Centers. (GC did not have the SA 2200, only lower end models by Ibanez, Gretsch, D'Angelico and Epiphone, etc.)
It’s similar to the Ibanez JSM-100 John Scoffield Model. But the Ibanez JSM-100 is a little more beautiful with better appointments. Also Made In Japan Prestige series.
Hi Jon, love your playing and and what you've done in this demo. It's is so coincidental for me as I bought an SA2200 a few weeks ago in October from Yamaha Music ion London and it's everything you say. What is very pleasing is that this is really beautiful guitar but more importantly it sounds excellent and covers nearly everything I want to play. I bought it because I don't have a HH style guitar (I've got Gretsches and HSS Strats) so wanted a purely non-trem humbucking guitar. Why not get a Gibson then? Well, I tried LP's and 335's and thought they're great but the price is getting crazy and I'm not prepared to pay that money. Don't get me wrong, they're good guitars and if that's what you want and you have the money, buy one, but I'm not in that position so started looking further afield ansd as I've already got an excellent Yamaha LL16D acoustic I already knew that they represent fabulous quality and great value so went back to the Yamaha shop to have a look a their HH guitars. Long story short, the SA2200 was the one I decided on and it's everything you've highlighted and I'm very happy with it! Cheers!
Yamaha make some awesome guitars and this is no exception! I have always wanted a '90s Japanese made SG 2000 but when searching for one they either have too many dings and scratches or they are so far away the shipping and insurance has been too expensive, I live in hope that one will appear though!
My two cents, you should consider a Yammy; Fujigen made Ibanez quality not great these days. Just got a new AS2000 $3K top end unit with one thread hole stripped, tooling issues on the acrylic binding, settings all wrong and one Gotoh machine head very hard to spin. I have a telecaster made in Indonesia of better quality, and it was 1/3 of this Ibanez. Called Ibanez and they told me to ship it to the only one location they provide service in US on my money. Very disappointing! Ibanez, I've promised you a video on youtube about what you sell and how you treat your clients. That will come shortly, I just purchased a GB10 so now I will be able to provide a broader picture of these issues.
High Jon, Again this is a great hollow body guitar. Once I had 2 Yamaha-guitars and have been giving away one as a present. The other one is exactly tesame model where Gabriella(flamenco)plays with. The only thing that bothers me on the model in your hands is the jack-input on top. A few Gibson models are having tesame issue. I don't think it bothers you. Still it is a great six-stringer with capability for shure. I was wondering about with gauge do you play most often? Much love and thank you for the music❤, T
Gorgeous but was outside my price range. I compromised with an Ibanez Artstar AS113 which is their high quality Indonesian made clone (same features & Super58 pickups) of their Japanese made Artstar AS2000, pretty much Ibanez's similarly priced direct competitor to the Yamaha SA2200. I'm in lust with Yamaha's SA2200.
Hi Jon, I love your playing with this guitar and the tone is beautiful. I have an SA200 and I can highly recommend it. What was the rig you were playing through?🙂
Amazing guitar, amazing demo hermano! I only have seen these guitars in photos, they are rare in Australia. Is it hollow body like the Casino with no centre block like the ES335? I’m very happy you tried it and shared these video. Hopefully you find an Eastman as well. ✌️🤩👍🎸
This is a beautiful guitar. Thank you for your excellent video. What case do you recommend for this Yamaha SA2000 I'm in the process of buying this beautiful guitar but what I hear a lot is that it does not come with guitar case. And it definitely need a greater guitar case. IF you have what you can recommend appreciate a lot. Thank you and Happ New Years. New subscriber. Thanks.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Hi Thank you for your fast reply I appreciate a lot. Just finally found a good deal with South Shore Music Store in Weymouth, Massachusetts. I did my order today. I'm so happy, it come with a Gator GW335 Case Brown Sunburst. That was my big concern from reading guitar forums from other people tacking that it doesn't come with hard case. But Thank you so much. You have a Happy New Years. Thanks.
hello , pour commencer elle est belle, le son parfait a mon gout , le fait de pouvoir choisir quel hum ou sc mettre en route séparément excellent , cette guitare a une polivalence qui fait rêver..; Merci pour la démo porte toi bien ...
Very nice guitar and review Jman. 😊😊. Got to mention though. Im not a fan of Yamaha acoustics. 😢. They make great keyboards, sound equipment, amps etc. In my opinion. Take care ❤️🙏💯🎸🎸. I love Takamine guitars ❤️❤️
Yamaha are high quality instruments, this one is so beautiful. I also have a Tokai SB62, an Eastman T59v and an Ibanez AS153. My Ibanez is the cheapest of the 3 but has the best finish, in the same lecel of the Yamaha SA2200. The 3 of them have very good while different sounding, Eastman is jazzy, Tokai is blues/rock, and Ibanez is allrounder (jazzy to pop).
Very very nice playing and great review. Love your work, man. But wouldn´t you say this was rather a Semi-Hollowbody, than a "hollowbody" guitar, since it has a sustainblock and the construction is very 335ish?
I ORDER A 335 CLONE FROM AMAZON A GROTE VERY GOOD REVIEWS ON IT CAN WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON JUN 7 I GOT IT FROM MY BIRTHDAY COMING UP IN JUN , I CANT AFFORD A GIBSON NOR IF I HAD THE MONEY I GET A 335 FROM THEM I JUST MOD THE HECK OUT OF IT LIKE I DID TO MY OTHER GUITARS. I GOT IT BECAUSE THE TONE SOUND SO RICH

Most underrated guitar ever. Brilliant sounding instrument, finest japanese quality, as well as your playing and channel. Thanks a lot !!!
Many thanks!
SAS1500 also not bad. They are more compact and can switch single coil and ham backer.
I own an SA2200 like this and it is a wonderful guitar. I have owned several Gibson ES models and this guitar is right up there. Great bang for the buck. Love the Ebony board.
cool!!
Killer killer instrument. One of the finest I've played.
True
My next guitar 😭 it’s literally the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
✌🏻❤️
You’ll love it.
I have one. A very nice under-appreciated axe for sure.
It sure is!
Yamaha makes some seriously great instruments. Great demo!
This is one such guitar!
Correct had sf700 for years from new nothing done to it still sounds great and plays great 👍
I bought this absolutely fantastic Yamaha guitar five years ago and it feels better than most of the 335’s I’ve tried.
Great to hear!
I must have had mine for at least 15 years now. Whilst I probably don’t play it as much as it deserves, it’s such a good instrument.
Nice!!
I really like Yamaha . Like the Pacifica , the Rev Star and I really like the warmth of this 2200. Thanks Jon!
My pleasure!

You’re welcome!
Funny - I bought an SA2200 in Bordeaux in 2019 at Prima Cordes. It has been my #1 for a while now.
Moi aussi j'ai. Quel crunch cette gratte, je la garde jusqu' au bout.
I always enjoy your demos. Not just dry strumming. Real music, real dedication.
Thank you!
A nice build from Yamaha. I own a Revstar rsp02t and their quality is no joke.

THAT IS A DAM GOOD GUITAR COOL 😎
It is
So now I need to sell my Eastman, wow what a beauty!

Damn this sound gives me goosebumps - absolutly stunning guitar. Would prefer this one over a Gibson for sure!
yes...i would get this instead!
Yamaha makes awesome stuff…I bought a Rev Star last year and love it…it’s the main guitar I play, that and the EART 335
Ok!

A few Gibson models are having tesame issue.
I don't think it bothers you.
Still it is a great six-stringer with capability for shure.
I was wondering about with gauge do you play most often?
Much love and thank you for the music❤,

thanks for sharing!
I'm in lust with Yamaha's SA2200.
lol In lust!!
Had one ..Sold it as it had a Warped neck which was a shame cause it sounded great
Oh man
Hi Jon, I love your playing with this guitar and the tone is beautiful. I have an SA200 and I can highly recommend it. What was the rig you were playing through?🙂
Check my description❤️
Sorry Jon. More speed less haste !!🙂@@JonIsJustTooLoud
Amazing guitar, amazing demo hermano! I only have seen these guitars in photos, they are rare in Australia. Is it hollow body like the Casino with no centre block like the ES335? I’m very happy you tried it and shared these video. Hopefully you find an Eastman as well. ✌️🤩👍🎸
Thanks a lot!✌❤
Jon kept saying "hollow body" but it IS a SEMI-hollow, with the center block (as Jon mentioned a couple times).
This is a beautiful guitar. Thank you for your excellent video. What case do you recommend for this Yamaha SA2000 I'm in the process of buying this beautiful guitar but what I hear a lot is that it does not come with guitar case. And it
definitely need a greater guitar case. IF you have what you can recommend appreciate a lot. Thank you and Happ New Years. New subscriber. Thanks.
Welcome to the channel! The last I heard, they are still providing hard cases for these guitars ✌️❤️
Merci
Very nice guitar and review Jman. 😊😊. Got to mention though. Im not a fan of Yamaha acoustics. 😢. They make great keyboards, sound equipment, amps etc. In my opinion. Take care ❤️🙏💯🎸🎸. I love Takamine guitars ❤️❤️
✌❤
Yamaha are high quality instruments, this one is so beautiful. I also have a Tokai SB62, an Eastman T59v and an Ibanez AS153. My Ibanez is the cheapest of the 3 but has the best finish, in the same lecel of the Yamaha SA2200. The 3 of them have very good while different sounding, Eastman is jazzy, Tokai is blues/rock, and Ibanez is allrounder (jazzy to pop).
Thanks for sharing!
Fabulous looking guitar. Price wise pitches well against Gibson
✌️❤️
Very very nice playing and great review. Love your work, man.
But wouldn´t you say this was
rather a Semi-Hollowbody, than a "hollowbody" guitar, since it has a sustainblock and the construction is very 335ish?
well...it's called that by Yamaha. ✌😆
