The lead singer is Stephen Pearcy and he is still out touring. The band has a hard time staying together these days. (They're kind of sick of each other). So its sometimes under the Ratt name / sometimes solo. But, all of their music is just fun up-tempo glam rock. You'd probably like all their albums, as I did.
I graduated HS in 1986 and they were my #1 favorite band and were my inspiration to buy my first guitar at age 15 and played in several bands for years. I saw them live 7 times between 1984 and 1990 and they were outstanding live!
Check out Shame Shame Shame, with the intro. One of their best songs. I saw them live in Richmond Va in the 80's. It was the drummer's birthday, Niki Sixx and Tommy Lee of Motley Crue were there. They came on stage to celebrate the birthday with a little Jack Daniels. Ratt was a outstanding live band back then. Another great song Nobody Rides For Free from the soundtrack for the movie Point Break.
Lead vocalist Stephen Pearcy. The movie was Santa Fe Trail. with a young Ronald Reagan 1940 "I Wanna A Woman" " Dance" & "Back For More" Tommy Lee & Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue) cameo as cops in Back For More video.
Great song! My favorite hair metal band of the 80's. Just a great band to see live. I have seen them so many times live over the past decades. Incredible live. Stephen Pearcy is the lead singer. Warren DiMartini & Robbin Crosby play lead, Bobby Blotzer on drums and Juan Croucier on bass. Ratt came out of the L.A. strip scene in the early 80's with bands like Van Halen, Motley Crue & Poison, playing a lot of shows at the Whiskey and Rainbow rooms, as well as others. They developed a following and became the main band at the Whiskey and were eventually discovered. So many bands came out of this scene - Gun n Roses, L.A. Guns, W.A.S.P and Faster Pussycat to name a few. The songs were rocking but the songs had a beat that you could dance to and so the style of music brought guys and a lot of girls into it. There was the androgynous style with most of the bands having big hair, wearing a lot of makeup and spandex. Girls loved it! Ratt was one of the first to be signed by a major record label and their hit "Round & Round" took them to new heights. MTV had their videos on rotation and so we got to see the members and their style. Bands like Motley Crue and Poison soon followed and the whole hair metal scene took off. Eventually, hair metal was being discovered all over the country - Bon Jovi out of New Jersey, Cinderella out of Philadelphia and so many others. By the end of the 80's hair metal had become so watered down. The industry was pumping out anyone with long hair, many with limited talent. Those at the forefront lost the makeup & glam style and started writing music that had a bit more substance, showing their ability to play acoustic and live. By the end of the 80's/early 90's Grunge changed music and hair metal fell off. A handful of bands withstood the change - Bon Jovi being one. Other's imploded, like Motley Crue & Ratt. So much success so quickly and a changing taste in music led to the end of the DECADE OF DECADANCE.
I saw them in 1985 and Bob Jovi was the opening for them. I remember when this song kicked in they the shot a Huge ball of f!ames across the area ceiling.
Boys I think it's about time for you guys to get to a big show have you been to any big shows whatsoever seems like you never have been to a big show yet they're out there bands are still rocking cracking playing and rolling and Holden get to a show Steven lead singer is still doing his own music and doing Ratt on the road all the music starting to wind down now because the holidays are already kicked but there's still some shows out there are on the road next year will be a huge one a lot of huge acts will be doing and shed tours which there are outside amphitheaters get to Show Twins get to a show Peace 🤟🤘✌️
