My wife is Bulgaria I am American. We both retired early (56) and just bought a house in Lyaskovo, this is a small village outside of Stara Zagora Our property tax for the year is 15Lev ($9) amazing. We have a petrol car. We find that Petrol and oil for an oil for an oil change are more expensive than USA, but driving distances are substantially shorter. Cell/internet. So for two cell phones unlimited everything, 5G internet, 3 TV's with a lot of channels cost 105Lev ($60) a month. For what its worth.
I'm American with a Bulgarian wife as well. I'm hoping to retire early to BG, but still have some kids to launch. I'm hoping to spend more time there regardless, since I can work remotely. We visit most summers, and the boys almost every summer, to stay with her parents in Sliven.
Thank you Gareth for an interesting video sharing a feel of Plovdiv and the range of prices to live there. Special thanks to Norman for his local insights. Plovdiv is such a wonderful town.
Thank You Gareth for interviewing Lillyana (hope I got her name right) about the cost of international schools. We have been planning to visit Bulgaria and hopefully stay on a pensioners permit but also have a 9 and 11 year old who would have to attend online school back in Arizona. Knowing there are other options for us to pursue is priceless! We are trying to plan a vacation to Europe in early summer, after the kids are out of school and hope to make Bulgaria one of our stays for a few weeks. You have a SUPER channel, stick with it, it will one day catch the UA-cam Algorithms and explode! In good way :) All the Best, Jeanne

Thank you for another great video my husband and I have watched all of yours. Can you tell us what the hospital's are like around either Burgas or Varna. We love Bulgaria and keep looking at moving over. The one thing that worries us as we are getting older is the health care? Thank you.
I would say that when you enter in some of the hospitals in the area you maybe a little shocked. They can look a little worn down. Though if your willing to pay for private health care there are options of nicer looking hospitals. Though which ever option you take you can be guaranteed of the professionalism of the health as the educational standard in this profession are very high. For this there are a lot of international students coming here to study it
There is a HUGE difference between the older public hospitals and the newer private ones. Almost all are accessible for people who have the state medical insurance, but the private ones are just newer and more pleasant and offer much more if you have additional insurance or a little bit more money. I would suggest that you check for a supplemental insurance and look around for a nice hospital which works with the state insurance too. Additionally, you will have a general practitioner that you will visit for the more daily needs and you can choose who it is.
So they sell 2 types of diesel, regular and eco/ green which costs an average of 30 cents more.I think the expensive one is a scam making you think that you’ll ruin your new diesel if you don’t use it.i had a diesel rental a few months ago and it ran just fine with the cheaper version. You have to be careful with so many scams going on. I remember 10 years ago when they changed to euro diesel it was substantially more expensive than the non euro diesel. I remember asking the gas station attendant what’s the difference between the euro and non euro diesel version and he was honest with me and told me the only difference is the price.
diesel is made when making normal gasoline, but only 30% of the amount produced is diesel. therefore the amount of diesel is limited, and this makes a higher price. in germany for instance diesel gets a reduced tax, therefore it is cheaper. but this tax reduction will end in 2022. bio diesel is more aggressive to the engine parts therefore you have to be careful if your engine can use it.
@@AG-jh1ky i guess that the normal diesel without eco has no reduced tax, and additionally is taxed corresponding to eu regulations by the contains of energy, which is higher than normal gasoline. eco diesel is then cheaper of two reasons: 1) reduced tax because eco 2) less energy contains. so i guess tht main reason for the pricing difference are tax issues. but that s only my personal guess
