I’m the researcher/fan who reached out over the strange… sharpie color data collection saga. Lol. The data was actually from the past few years, not only the last breeding season, though admittedly all the colors were a recent addition so the color data sample was much smaller than the black sharpie data group. It absolutely could be a coincidence, but after noticing certain pigments like the orange and golds associated with more “bad eggs”, just had to pass the information along. So glad to hear it’s sparking another mini experiment. Lol. The researcher in me appreciates it. ❤
Out of curiosity, is your research just collecting data from the hatch rates, or are you looking into the science behind why the hatch rates might be lower? Perhaps the Sharpie pigment is pH-sensitive, and changes colour depending on the environment? If there's a single green pigment, it changes to blue; if the green is a combination of blue and yellow, the yellow either turns blue or disappears?

Just an FYI: a lot of people in the disabled community find the term "differently abled" to be highly demeaning. It implies disability is such a bad thing that the word "disability" shouldn't be used. And it ignores the core fact that we are disabled, there are things we can't do. Disability doesn't give us some magic abilities that other people don't have. I also feel like the term implies that I don't have any of the same abilities as anyone else. I have a lot of the same abilities, but the key point is that there are some things I'm unable to do. Please use the term disabled.
While I 100% respect and understand your preference(and those that commented), I have seen the opposite said in comments as well. I think this is a damned if you do damned if you don't thing. Kind of like "with autism vs autistic." Our community is split on which people prefer. Don't be to harsh on Ed because I don't think he was trying to be disrespectful❤
Yup! Disabled people know they're disabled, it's kinda weird to call it "differently able" lol Reminds me of racist ableist teachers who called dyslexic people that
@@TheUnlovedSoul1 well, everyone thinks differently, but if you're disabled then you're not "differently abled", you are just not able in that area of your disability. Like autistic people, some people say they are not disabled but differently abled, but no, we are really NOT able in some aspects, like social aspects for example, and it's alright lol
Hey, just a friendly reminder disabled isn't a dirty word. I have a learning disability and differently abled is an offensive term to a lot of us in the community. I am coming from a place of love, and want people to learn that disabled isn't a dirty word.
Hi I am a huge fan of you. I fell in love with snakes when I was 4 because that was the first and last time I touched a snake. PS it was a Leopard Ball Python .😊🐍😊
Just wanted to say around the 13 minute mark Ed says 'differently abled', I know it was kinda joking but disabled people overwhelmingly prefer the term disabled, and find 'differently abled' offensive. Source: I am disabled (Didn't want to make it too much of a lecture but for context, the reason it is found offensive is it because it is used pretty much solely by able people, who then frequently lecture us that it's actually the correct term regardless of disabled people's widespread dislike of it, in order to essentially whitewash them our disabilities. It eliminates the idea that regardless of capability, disabled and able people are equal, instead saying that disabled people must be as close to able as possible in order to be equal. Essentially promoting the idea that our disabilities are only acceptable when they are not disabling. Not that that was the intended message here whatsoever, of course, just wanted to provide some context.)
I must ask, what do bad snake eggs smell like? Is it anything like duck or chicken eggs when they go south? Just curious. Love the channel and all you do! Keep up the great work Ed, Emily and crew!! ❤ Sending lots of love from David & Gregory (son - 10 yrs old) from Alaska!
I don't know if anyone else noticed but when Ed and Emily were talking about the stripes and stuff, Ed showed his hand and there were a lot of like cut and scratches, I know it could be from Cheyenne or some of the reptiles trying to bite or something, but it just caught my attention. Edit: I found the time stamp 9:33 his hand was also shown a bit before that as well
yay babies! very beautiful ones at that. My fingers are crossed for the little chocolate baby.. our family has a saying due to my two preemie granddaughters.. tiny but mighty!! Go little Brownie go!!
Loved the video, but it made me a bit sad to hear Ed say “differently abled”. Most disabled people, including myself, dislike the term. I know he didn’t mean anything bad, I just hope he can learn from this.
Hey Ed, no disrespect to you BUT you are allowed to say disabled. Most disabled people I know (myself included) aren’t fans of “differently abled) or if I’m alone in this other disabled people go ahead and correct me
I'm not disabled myself, but I follow a lot of disabled creators with big community's of disabled people, and that's the term they generally prefer over trying to "censor" the word, because "disabled" isn't a bad word, and it's not bad to be so. It just is the way some people are.

Do you do a baby review after hatching season is over? You make a good list of what you are hoping for but it woukd be nice to see if you guys have a contest to see if the guesses were right or not once they are all hatched
I'm a sucker for the runt bc I'm the runt in my family. Y'all are awesome and have helped me get over my fear of snakes. Keep up the energy and I will have to send y'all one of my creations one day
Just an FYI: a lot of people in the disabled community find the term "differently abled" to be highly demeaning.

Yep. Disabled isn't a bad word!
this exactly! i made a similar comment! it stung to hear Ed say that :(
I'd be worried about the UA-cam bots and algorithms being unhappy with certain terms. Those robots are ruthless.
I love that a fan complied Sharpie hatch rate data. Fascinating!!!
The focus of the camera was as wobbly as the babies. 😂 Still happy to see such googly eyed stinkers though!
I’ve never seen a black snake hatch on your channel before,so I was very curious and excited 😊
I’m replying myself
By the way, most disabled people consider ‘differently abled’ to be an offensive term. It’s best to just say disabled🙂
Yup!
Disabled people know they're disabled, it's kinda weird to call it "differently able" lol
Reminds me of racist ableist teachers who called dyslexic people that
As someone with disabilities I don’t find it offensive because it’s true. My abilities are different and that doesn’t make it a bad thing.
@@TheUnlovedSoul1 As a disabled person I don’t like the term, but everyone is different. If it works for you use it 💗
@@TheUnlovedSoul1 well, everyone thinks differently, but if you're disabled then you're not "differently abled", you are just not able in that area of your disability.
Like autistic people, some people say they are not disabled but differently abled, but no, we are really NOT able in some aspects, like social aspects for example, and it's alright lol
@@MaridoDoFelps But autistic people are able in other aspects, which is where the "differently" abled comes from.
mangroves are now on my list of cutest snake babies
(among hognoses, ball pythons, bullsnakes, and those argentine boas were stinking cute too)
Those are such beautiful snakes!
I'm always a fan of the underdog. Love that little runt!!! ❤
We need updates on these little guys there so amazing
"They're so friendly!"
Looking at all the scratches on Ed's arm.
You're not going to fool me!
Hey, just a friendly reminder disabled isn't a dirty word. I have a learning disability and differently abled is an offensive term to a lot of us in the community. I am coming from a place of love, and want people to learn that disabled isn't a dirty word.
this!!
Source: I am disabled
(Didn't want to make it too much of a lecture but for context, the reason it is found offensive is it because it is used pretty much solely by able people, who then frequently lecture us that it's actually the correct term regardless of disabled people's widespread dislike of it, in order to essentially whitewash them our disabilities. It eliminates the idea that regardless of capability, disabled and able people are equal, instead saying that disabled people must be as close to able as possible in order to be equal. Essentially promoting the idea that our disabilities are only acceptable when they are not disabling. Not that that was the intended message here whatsoever, of course, just wanted to provide some context.)
this!
i would love to see them eat their first couple meals since they are picky eaters! I love when you show the babies eating for the first time!
please keep us updated on the tiny baby! we'd love to know its fate.
Congratulations!! What beautiful babies!
I must ask, what do bad snake eggs smell like? Is it anything like duck or chicken eggs when they go south? Just curious. Love the channel and all you do! Keep up the great work Ed, Emily and crew!! ❤
Sending lots of love from David & Gregory (son - 10 yrs old) from Alaska!
I don't know if anyone else noticed but when Ed and Emily were talking about the stripes and stuff, Ed showed his hand and there were a lot of like cut and scratches, I know it could be from Cheyenne or some of the reptiles trying to bite or something, but it just caught my attention. Edit: I found the time stamp 9:33 his hand was also shown a bit before that as well
Feels illegal to watch with 6 likes 😂
Yeah lol, it says no views and 56 seconds ago
Fr
I like the one who was tail rattling when you first checked them out !!

Hi😅
Hi
Yas
✋🏼
Yes
I have been watching you guys for a few years and I can't wait to get a snake of my own
Early gang!
Wooooo!!🎉
I went herping today and found a gopher snake, my friend named him Silly. Seeing this video come out today was icing on the cake!
12:58 please don’t say differently abled, it really downplays the struggles that disabled people do face
Sincerely, a disabled person
agreed! i hope at least one of the comments addressing this reaches them
-sincerely, a cane user
My favorite is the brown one..the runt..come on little guy, I'm pulling for you!!
Loved the video, but it made me a bit sad to hear Ed say “differently abled”. Most disabled people, including myself, dislike the term. I know he didn’t mean anything bad, I just hope he can learn from this.
cane user here, i feel the same way, i also hate that term :(
Absolutely wonderful, gotta love baby snakes ❤
Hey Ed, no disrespect to you BUT you are allowed to say disabled. Most disabled people I know (myself included) aren’t fans of “differently abled) or if I’m alone in this other disabled people go ahead and correct me
I agree
I'm not disabled myself, but I follow a lot of disabled creators with big community's of disabled people, and that's the term they generally prefer over trying to "censor" the word, because "disabled" isn't a bad word, and it's not bad to be so. It just is the way some people are.
i'm disabled and i agree!
