Valley Girl Cast & Eric Blair talk The Movie Valley Girl

- Julie, a girl from the valley, meets Randy, a punk from the city. They are from different worlds and find love. Somehow they need to stay together in spite of her trendy, shallow friends.
Valley Girl (1983) has arguably the most incredible soundtrack of any film ever. Partly because it is great music, but irrespective of the specific music, it's incredible because the songs were picked for the soundtrack BEFORE they were iconic hits. Whoever made the selection for the music soundtrack had incredible insight into what was needed, fit and would stand the test of time!
Martha Coolidge picked all the music after being heavy into the music scene in L.A a few years prior to making the movie.
Same could be said for the movie TIMES SQUARE that had Patty Smith, and others in it... Tim Curry was in it. I hope they re-release that
Luvt this movie
Man I miss the 80's
For me, "Valley Girl" is the single best 80s teen film. I think the reason is because Valley Girl takes place in a specific place (Los Angeles) at a very specific time (late 1982), whereas most 80s teen movies represent a more generic 80s that could take place anywhere in the US during the years 1982-1987 or so. Also, the onscreen chemistry between Nicholas Cage and Deborah Foreman is unmistakable. You can feel these two kids really liking one another. The fact that Randy is such a quirky, imperfect, yet likeable leading man gives the film real character.
There were some great iconic/era films in the 80s, but the two that stand out are Fast Times At Ridgemont High, and of course Valley Girl. These two films really defined an era.
the most iconic movie of the 80's in my mind. It struck a chord with me when it came out and still does. Amazing film and one of the best soundtracks ever.
Just love this movie like totally! I think it was great when he asked her "When you compare the world of today to the world of Valley Girl, what's lacking?" and she's answers, "Everything". Having graduated HS in 83" I couldn't agree more!
Valley Girl will forever be in my heart. This means so much. Thank you!! 🥰
Omg still obsessed with this movie and soundtrack ! Changed my 14 year life watching this in Adelaide and still dreaming of California !
Still one of the best movies ever. I wish I could have gone to this viewing.
After seeing this in the Theater back in '83 I went right to the Record Store and bought the Album....GOOD Movie!!!....GREAT SOUNDTRACK!!!!
I was in love with Lee Purcell back then. But dang, I'm still in love with her.

🤮
How could you not be?
She’s the hottest in the picture and still looks great
Fell in love with her in the movie ''Big Wednesday''
Lee Purcell looks absolutely amazing! Good for her!
Thanks for interviewing Martha Coolidge .That was a super interview.
I bought the VCR tape...when I switched to C.D's Valley Girl was the first movie I bought and I still have it...I watched it close to 100 times...
Michael Bowen's daughter is a friend of mine. I was fortunate enough to meet him a few times when she lived in the North San Diego County area. He's a super cool cat. She took him to a local bar one time and he spent the night entertaining the patrons and her friends with some great stories and anecdotes. Michael and E.G. Daily are very good friends and he really loves and supports her. Michael and his daughter are truly amazing people.
@Vegan Higler Yes and yes. We are still friends. My son, who's a Rockstar, and I go to the Whisky quite a bit across from the Viper Room. I've been there a few times a million years ago. I hear they are closing it....
Not only is this my favorite movie , but the soundtrack is everything . Spotlights American new wave . My 17 year old loves it too and turned us both on to sparks !!
EG Daily. Omg still a looker. Keep going strong babe😚
Romeo and Juliet remake!! Love love love Valley Girl
This movie and several others was the perfect 12-1am Friday night when the parents sleep movie growing up in the 80's....
👍💙💋
Awwww...
I really loved watching this video, and seeing some of the cast and musicians.
This was one of my favorite 80's movies. I am so grateful that this movie was made; perfect movie, perfect cast, perfect timing, absolutely perfect behind the scenes crew!
This movie will always hold a special place in my heart & memories
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
When I first saw this movie WoW and the music is what turned me on to that kind of music. I'm now 60 and still play this music. The Girls Julie and Loryn were my favorite LIKE FOR SURE. They were like totally tubular! STONE COLD.....
Favorite movie from the 80's. I still sing Modern English's song "I'll melt with you" in a British accent. The fact Lee Purcell's favorite show is Game of Thrones makes her even more gorgeous. Great interview Eric
I was only 8 when this movie came out. I didn’t watch it until I was maybe 20 or 21 years old. And I absolutely loved it. The song that stood out to me was when they were driving to Hollywood. “I L-L-L-Love you”…I loved that song the very first time I heard it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this film!!! I have it and have watched it hundreds of times!!! xoxoxoxoxo
Eric you're a great interviewer love your show awesome.
I love this movie.. grew up in the suburbs of LA and I remember going to all the spots that I remembered from the film in the late 90s and early 2000s...cult classic and iconic forever 80s......by the way the plimsouls were from nearby Paramount...
Congratulations on the video, Mr. Blair.
Great video! I dated my high school sweetheart because she looked like Julie!!!!
Oh, wow. Not only was I a Valley girl, still am, but I loved this movie when it came out. And that amazing soundtrack... Little did I know I would get to know and become friends with quite a few of the musicians from that soundtrack. Thank you for sharing this video.
this is a GREAT 28 minutes!!
Love this movie. One of my favorites. Thanks for doing this.
We never knew we had it so good growing up in the 80’s. Still love all the music of course. I still wear Sperry Topsiders too.
They are all still very beautiful!
Great interviews!!
"Way to go Stacey, like... I'm so sure" haha! Loved that movie so much!
Well done! I really enjoyed it.
This is awesome! Heidi and Lee are awesome! I loved them both n the original!
I love this movie so much
One of my 80's flix...soundtrack was killer....everyone still looks great!
One of my all time favorite movies like for sure 💗
THANK YOU ERIC BLAIR....
FV movie of all time !
Couldn't see it bc I was 13 & film was rated R, so I debated my mom & convinced her to let me see it bc critics Siskel and Ebert gave it 'Thumbs Up'- still adore this movie
@R . I . P . Sure did
Damn! Lee Purcell looking HOT!!! in 2019! Oh, I'll never forget Beth...the time to act is now.
I agree!! She looks fabulous!! Perhaps I am naive..but I still don't understand one of Lee's Beth lines.."Plastics..the time to do something is when the time is right". What did "plastics" mean?? Was it a hint that the kid Skip..should have had rubbers on him?? I never got that line.
Plastics is a line from the Graduate I believe
@@ourtravelingzoo3740 But..what does it mean??
@@ourtravelingzoo3740
😂😂 It is. Took me forever to figure out WTH she was talking about !!
@@budderkupp1282 She had been talking to her investment counselor, so it must have had something to do with that. Although the "when the time is right" is obviously about the fact that she would have slept with Skip but he missed the moment.
The movie is 38 years old now. WOW!
Every song used enhances the scene you are watching. Best movie soundtrack ever.
How is Lee Purcell SEVENTY ONE years old?!?! She looks amazing!!!
total babe still
Wait!
What....
She looks amazing!
And she is still so BEAUTIFUL!
WOW!
:o)
I know, right!
She looks younger than the girl who played her daughter! Amazing
I was born just a year after this movie came out but I enjoyed it immensely as well as any other teen movie from the 80s especially from John Hughes
The Blasters! I don't think I ever saw the movie...1983 was a long time ago. The music is great. The interviewer was good.
Great cover of my all time favorite movie
Lee Purcell-omg hottttttttt still
The movie will always stand the test of time.
This is totally awesome 😎
One of my favorite movies of all time. It's so cool to see the actors all these years later.
Best movie ever!
Valley Girl and My Chauffeur are me favourite films of that era! Best soundtrack!! I wish you had interviewed Deborah Foreman! Would have fancied seeing her again!! Did she show up?
Lee Purcell has not aged a day! I need the name of her dermatologist. She is still one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the screen….
How do these women all look so PHENOMENAL & like THEY'VE been in a TIME CAPSULE?!? ❤
9:55 Prescott Niles quotes Bill Heslop's famous line, "You can't stop progress!"
good movie!
This is awesome
Lee Purcell is sooooooooo gorgeous and has genes of a vampire.
Prescott Niles is my homeboy..great dude
I was only 1 years old when this movie came out
Holy Shit, Lee Purcell is still beautiful damn.
Heidi still sounds like a valley girl! I love it! I grew up at that time in Southern California & have been told that I still have that sound too. Not sorry. I’m sure! Whatever…
The only teen movie from the late 80's that sticks in my memory is SAY ANYTHING. But the best music and movies of the genre was from the early to mid-80's.
Lee Purcell Looks Great!
Valley Girl represents the 1980's.
Kickass!
"You'll die Richman!" ---stacey
E.G Daily is still beautiful since that Rob Stewart music video " Young Turks".
Ummm...how the hell does Lee Purcell look younger than the people who played her kids??? She looks fantastic!!!
All these women look amazing. Loved the movie. You were all such hotties and still are. Such an amazing time. 80's rule baby!
The lady who said one of her lines was, "Who are you, Bozo the Clown?" - she had a bare boobs scene in the bathroom when Nick Cage was hiding in the shower.
classy

🤮
Michael Bowen was 30 years old in this movie
Too bad the big stars never appear at these reunions. Come on that's what made you, are they really too busy? Star B.S.
I enjoyed this video.
I bought the blu-ray.
I have the original poster.
Sadly you would be arrested as a stalker if you showed your 'true love'
Fast Times at Ridgemont High was Nick Cage first movie not Valley Girl.
Nic cages first starring role
@@dadetim she said the first movie.
It's a modern day Romeo and Juliet..
Never understood why the Valley Girl poster with Nick Cage featured a blonde chic who was never in the movie?! Why not put Deborah Foreman on there with him? Never made any sense to me, but that’s my absolute only complaint regarding all things VG .. even love spotting out all the MANY bloopers throughout the movie lol
Are the 7 dislikes all under 30?
Michael Bowen was the original William Zabka. He played bad guys who were so handsome, but you still loved them no matter how much you wanted to to hate them…
You need to show the poster a little more often ;-)
Wheres skip? That would be cool if he was there standing next to lee
How does Lee Purcell look nearly the same!?
“Tommy” hasn’t aged well, I didn’t even recognize him but the rest of the cast looks fabulous!
Heidi Hollicker😍❤️❤️❤️ That said I miss E.G. Daily's big 80s brunette hair.
Valor Kand and Gitane DeMone from Christian Death have a super brief cameo in the film as well.
E.G. Daily looks fabulous too. Amazing. Cool seeing this interview. Lee Purcell was a milf before there was milf. and a great actress also!
EG Daily will forever, in my mind, be Dotti in Pee Wee’ Big Adventure. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
E.G. Daily!!
I loved this movie in my teens and 20s, and I always thought Heidi Holicker's character Stacy was completely HOT, but just a bit on the arrogant side.
Lee Purcell looks beautiful...I had a crush on her in Valley girl
Beautiful eyes Heidi
E.G. Daily..... steals Smelly Cat. 😁
HEIDI LOOKS OLDER THAN LEE WHO IS 76-- AMAZING
Lee Purcell was such a babe
Wow, the lady that played the older MILF in the movie amongst the younger teenagers is actually the best looking today..
Fred💖Stacy
Never understood why Deborah Foreman wasn’t on the movie poster🤔🤔🤔
