Vader not understanding the power of loyalty... Something Anakin understood well.
Well..to be fair this is Vader/Anakin after he has betrayed literally everyone and everything he once knew just to save his wife, and then losing her too. He probably didn’t think much of loyalty anymore.
Anakin was completely driven by loyalty to those he cared for. Crazy that Vader lost thar core trait
When Anakin became Vader his Trust issues peaked.
I mean, from his perspective, the jedi order he'd dedicated his life to failed him, mistrusted him, & used him, then he sacrificed everything he'd ever believed in to save Padme, & Palpatine failed him, too, & he ended up trapped in his hellish suit for the rest of his life. It's understandable why he'd lose faith in loyalty when everyone he'd ever been loyal to failed him so utterly.
If Anakin did then he would never have killed little kids, choked his pregnant wife, and tried to kill his best friend.
I can't believe the Dark Lord decided to swallow his pride and listened to other alternatives! This is just priceless.

He's evil and monomaniacal, not stupid. If presented with a more effective way to achieve his goals, he'll listen. If it sounds good, he'll actually do it.
That's why his subordinates were so loyal despite his habit of killing ppl who failed him. The others generally saw it as just. There's several stories written from the perspective of those who served him showing this.

Tarkin destroyed Alderaan on his own merit, Palpatine never approved of this
@@exodustimes4266 Palpatine gave him the opportunity to destroy a planet. He just didn't except Tarkin to destroy Alderaan.
Cause when this comic takes place the Empire has been in power for only a few months (as seen by them still using Clone Trooper armour and vehicles), so Palpatine wanted to both keep any atrocities the Empire committed very under wraps, but he needed as much recourses he could get early on to build his war machine.
By the time of ANH the Empire was far stronger and richer over the past 19 years, and with the Death Star constructed he'd simply scare the population to not rise against him. The problem then came when Tarkin destroyed Alderaan (something very hard to cover up) without Palpatine's approval with little to no justification as far as the rest of the galaxy could see.
I'm fairly sure in the comics Palpatine is furious that Tarkin chose Alderaan as a target
@@StuartLugsden im pretty sure in canon he just take over the death star after killing Krennic in Scarif, and immediately test the Tributary Beam in Alderaan, without consulting it to Sheev.

Did Palpatine not realize that Anakin was impulsive and prone to solving everything with fighting?
I guess he hoped he’d mellow with age.
He was hoping Anakin would learn. He basically threw Anakin into the deep end and Anakin ended up learning the hard way.
Yea Palpatine had been trying to crush that habit for a long time. Vader was punished many times for doing just that, or defying the Emperors orders, or failing an objective out of desire to pursue and kill inconsequential Jedi despite being told many times its nothing either of them needed to worry about.
I guess he hoped Anakin’s leadership when leading the 501st in the clone wars could carry over, but without the compassion of a Jedi. Also, his main goal with Anakin was his high midi-chlorian count making him in theory the strongest force user, so even if he failed as a leader he could still be a good warrior for the empire (even if you think the midi-chlorians are stupid, it’s what’s official so I just accept it)
Think of it this way: the Jedi themselves only ever saw and trained Anakin as a blunt instrument. He was the "Chosen One that would bring balance to the Force", and in the Jedi mind echo chamber that means "Destroy Sith, Destroy Sith, Destroy Sith". Obi-Wan was more of a diplomat, but he never had a good handle on teaching Anakin.
Thus, once he lost his human side, all his natural charisma and empathy for others, Vader essentially became a heartless killing machine that saw everyone and everything non-Imperial as "target to be destroyed", much like the CIS Droids.

Why do you think the jedi refer to the sith "like a poison"? they destroy things from the inside out. They even destroyed their own culture in the same way.

They are close to achieving their goals and win, their apprentice finishes them off without them expecting it.
Tenebrus plagueis and sidious all suffered the same Fate.
I think he considers himself beyond the need for combat. Even when he needs to fight, he prefers to use force lightning rather than a lightsaber.

It’s interesting to see in the early days of the empire how angry Vader was when compared to him later when he was more experienced and sort of accepted his fate.
Yeah, that has more to do with his libido flatlining. I'd be mad too if my youthful pecker had its waifu pillow taken away.

To be fair,even palp surprise by the news that Tarkin use the death star on a populated planet(not even mention a history rich one
Vader had Attack Dog syndrome, he may have the brawn of a warrior but only half the brain and patience of a leader or tactician.
I think The reason for this is because he just lost all fate and was suicidal and didn't care about anything or anyone anymore cause he already lost everything so No matter what he did no one could hurt her because he had nothing left
Not true. In his comic series, specifically the 2020-now run, shows his independence and tactical mind. He spends his entire time with Palpatine trying to accumulate power against him. And not just finding an apprentice, by amassing an army, or allowing crimson dawn to succeed at times.

When Anakin become Vader, his tactics is more of a brute than a cunning warrior he was in the Clone Wars. Of course this thinking cause him to be defeated by the high ground.
I start to think this moment is when Vader decide not to use simple brutality and started to use his own cunningness and deception to achieve his plans.
Major Namada has some nice... Plots lines, I'll say
This is probably one of my favourite SWs stories as it does a good job of worldbuilding. Though the focus is on Vader it also shows why so many people were loyal to the Empire, the fact that it provided a possibility of social advancement not possible during the Republic.
It also offers a reasonable way to explain how the jedi became an "ancient religion" or even a fairytale in the galaxy over the space of just twenty years.

It's really a shame that Disney buying Star Wars and transfering the comics rights from Dark Horse comics to Marvel comics and them making the Expanded Universe into Legends caused the end of the Vader comics in which he had not only her as a competent and loyal subordinate, but also others who were quite well written.
I miss them(including her). They were interesting characters that sadly weren't brought back into canon.

Vader's greatest enemies from a certain point of view was his own pride and arrogance especially in those early years.
That's a lesson Obi Wan tried to teach him on multiple occasions, but Anakin wasn't very good at listening and learning.
mustafar alone is proof of that.

Sidous at this point hadn’t given up on vader. Sidous wanted vader to unlock his full potential (his Midicholrian count as midichlorians are cell by cell didn’t drop Vader’s mind was broken). He wanted vader to be a powerful and brilliant sith. Looking back at it I legit can’t imagine his frustration with vader
He was actually terrified of Vader... hence the suit being deliberately constructed to be vulnerable to force lightning. Vader also had to draw on the force (in some cases) to even walk, let alone fight.
Thank you! So many people talk about Vader being weakened by losing the midicholrians in his lost limbs, but I've always thought that Vader's physical injuries were more metaphorical and symptomatic of his horrific mental state and his role as Sidious' 'abused abuser'.

There's a short story I heard about once, where a Dark Lord conquers a kingdom...and realizes that he can defeat the prophecy of a heroic uprising by simply treating the people well, giving them opportunities, employment, health care, etc...The more he did for them, the less NEED they actually had to rise up against him! Have to see if I can find that one...
Sidious scolding Vader for being willing to bombard an entire planet until they submit.
The same Sidious that will build two Death Stars, two Eclipse-class ships and the Galaxy Gun, all of them weapons capable of destroying planets.
I think the difference was that Sidious creates massive weapons with the intent that they would be used sparingly, and mostly as fear to keep people in line. Vader was going to kill them without hesitation.
Fear makes people afraid but death makes people angry.
I mean, many worlds started returning to the Empire when they realized the New Republic couldn't stop them and be in good terms out of fear

@@thephantompenance While Sidious may be more pragmatic in that regard compared to Vader, the fact that his solution to deal with rebellions is by creating superweapons that can destroy entire planets shows his lack of foresight.
He could have used those credits and resources to improve the life of his subjects, lowering the chances of them rebelling, or make the Imperial military more efficient, making them better prepared to deal with rebellions across several star systems.
@@lisboah Apparently those superweapons were meant to be used against the Vong when they came invading not against the general populace of the SW galaxy.

I took it at face value at first, assumed he was going to be talking about Disney material from a new comic or something 😂 totally thought for sure it was going to be about Vader getting some nookie, which would be very much at odds with his character especially this early on, this fresh after accidentally murdering his wife.
