A sealant protects contents from getting through. I am not sure if they stain from a cigarette lying directly on it. I would suggest testing them to see.
Does the wax leave a stain on the inside of the vessel with Simple Coat similar to Eco Advance (the ring around the top of the wax after the wax shrinks)?
I had used the fist wax I bought it on Amazon and I returned it. I felt like I had to use so much and could not even tell where it was applied. Was not worth it I got my money back.
Would a sealant also be needed for your personal mix (plaster/sand/cement)? I've been searching and thus far I have non of these products in my country 😢 (Trinidad and Tobago) except the thung oil😅
Hi upvibe...the recipe has plaster for the jars. That plaster is ( gypsum plaster or plaster of paris)? i am still working out my recipe. rhey are not getting hard fast, they are crumbling after overnight setting...what can i do?
This video breaks down the formula for you. I used POP in the video. ua-cam.com/video/JClrh1y9k4A/v-deo.html. This video will give you suggestions outside of concrete ua-cam.com/video/yczZX6TzO3k/v-deo.html.
I wish some of these could be purchased at Home Depot or Lowe’s! lol I love earth safe finishes but their jars are terrible! I wish they used different containers.
Hi Jai. Thanks for the video. Have you used any of theses sealants to seal the hydrocal jar you made? I made a hydrocal jar and tried to seal it with ECO advance, just like I do with the cement jars, and it did not work at all. The wax started seeping as soon as I poured the wax in it. Any suggestions? Thanks!
The only sealant I have used on Hydrocal is ESF. With that said I would think Eco A would seal similarly as it's only effective on porous materials. However, if you no longer want to test that angel then try ESF. That worked well for me.
@@upvibecandle Thank you for the response. I will try ESF and maybe I will give ECO A another try, but my first attempt did not work at all. What would you suggest as the process for sealing with ECO A? The first time I did it as suggested in your video, rolled in the product, wiped off and rolled again; waited 48 hours to put wax in it. There is a woman (forgot her name) that uses ECO A in her cement jars (she mentions you a lot) and she says to not wipe off, let it dry a few hours then do it again without wiping off. What do you think? Thanks!!
@@liviaribeiro655 That sounds like Bree from Calafia Candle Co. I would try rolling them in for a few minutes and then wiping the off. If you get too much EA on your concrete you might find it clumps together. Basically you can't over saturate it because of the nature of the sealant.
This video is so awesome & helpful! Q: With Eco Advanced at 7:36 you mention (after you applied the sealant) waiting for 2 weeks then you add the wax? Is it 48 hours or 2 weeks after applying the product can you add wax?
@@upvibecandle I know this is older, but for me, the newbie, can you explain this? So you can seal them and add the wax after 48 hours, but they take 2 weeks to cure. So what is the 2 weeks for? You have to wait to use the candle?
Hello there Jai. I’m a new subscriber. I know you don’t work with food but I’m wondering if you would know of a food grade sealant for concrete vessels? I want to use mine for dry foods. I have done some research but I don’t know what the heck I’m doing.
Well hello there. Thanks for subscribing. Actually I do deal with food and highly recommend Earth Safe Finishes which is food safe. Hope that helps. ESF Matte in a 32oz bit.ly/3DChNXg or 1 Gal bit.ly/3OqDFKq ESF Gloss in a 32oz bit.ly/45OdMvD or 1 Gal bit.ly/3NejFLC
So I’m on Earth safe site and I see the have a new pure plant line. Maybe they’ll reach out and send you some? I wonder how you go about using the powder? Add to or instead of water it says. Ok anyways, I was there to buy the sealer lol! Take care!
She contacted me last week to let me know about them and was supposed to send some samples. I am sure she will get around to it shortly. Video to follow of course.
@@upvibecandle i did try 2-3 fine coats of ESF on hydrostone and water was sipping. Maybe i didnt cure long enough before sealing (3 days), or need more coats ? How many coats do you usually do on hydrostone with ESF? Thanks a lot

Great vid, as always Jai! There really are a BUNCH of options out there for sealing these jars.
Yes many options. Thanks
Just found your channel today, I LOVE your well explained videos !
Thanks for the love!!!
This is great information, thank you! Question though, I make candle jars but I also make concrete ashtrays. Would these be good to seal them as well?

Can you do a 1 year review? I heard that some discolor over time
I use Rutland sealer now but I want a shinny finish. Could I just put 3 coats on (instead of 4)
Then apply a coat of
"Wax it All" for a nice shine ??
Hi, just wondering if you could apply matt sealer above the tung oil
@@fathimah_craft I have never tried it so I can’t say.

You only need to seal after your vessel has cured.

Most of them you can have shipped to your local HD store.

Hi
Thanks for your great videos already.
Can you tell me how long you let the clark's wax sit before you put the wax on?
I’m sorry I don’t understand your question. Check out the original sealant video and watch the section on Clark’s. That might help you.

For Clarks sealant, what is the rest time between the different layers ?
@@mousson21 No worries. I would wait about an hour between applications.
