    To add to your bit about making demolding easier... Use air! You can essentially float a mold off of a part by blowing compressed air between the part and the mold. Also just curious, have you ever tried curing your parts in a pressure chamber at 50-60psi to further reduce any bubbles in your castings? This is a regular practice in the sfx industry for resins and silicones to compress any remaining tiny air pockets to near invisible, just curious how that would work for concrete.

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle День тому

      @@cgjeff interesting I’ll look into it. As for the pressure chamber I don’t think that will work. Concrete needs hydration to harden. That’s why some perform water bathing.

    I have put my white cement jars in water for one hour or so and after that I noticed they lost the natural shine they had after demolding. So, I suppose water bathing is not a necessity step for my products…

    I have one question, please. Some minutes after pouring the cement into the molds, the surface starts to become watery, like the heavy cement goes to the bottom and the water stays more on surface. It spoils the bottom side of my products. One just cracked and had no more bottom, another just looks like bubbly somehow. What would be the problem for that water to come to the surface? I did mixed it very well, and for sure it wasnt’t too much water, just enough to make it liquid enough so I can pour it into my molds…

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle 3 дні тому

      It sounds like you're dealing with "bleeding," where water rises to the surface of your cement molds, causing defects. This often happens due to an incorrect water-to-cement ratio or inadequate mixing. Even small variations in water can lead to bleeding, so try reducing the water slightly while keeping the mix pourable. Ensure thorough mixing for even distribution, possibly using a mechanical mixer. Check any additives you're using, as they can affect bleeding. Finer aggregates can also help reduce this issue. Make sure your molds are clean and smooth to aid in proper setting. After pouring, gently tap or vibrate the molds to release trapped air and help settle the mix. Ensure the molds are on a stable, level surface for even curing. By tweaking these factors, you should see better results in your concrete candle jars.

    • @mihaelaenache
      @mihaelaenache 3 дні тому

      @@upvibecandle I didn’t get any bubbles, my products look very smooth and nice. I tap the cement before pouring it into my molds to release air. Only this problem with the water on the surface I have. I’ll try and test to see how much I can reduce the water for better results. Thank you for your quick and detailed answer, much appreciated! 🫶🏻

    I started my UA-cam back in February, and I've been struggling...anxiety makes me stumble and bumble my words, trying to think of content to create every week, filming, editing, trying to figure out algorithm and analytics, along side trying to run my small handmade business...all of it made me start to feel that not only do I not have the time to make good quality videos but also I'm just not personable enough to be "UA-cam successful"

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle 5 днів тому

      In that case either write a detailed outline or a script. I don't just get in front of the camera and spew out words. I put a lot of prep into it and rehearse before each session. In addition, if you get 1% better with each video you do imagine how good you will be after 10 or 20. You feeling like you have no personality is just your mind playing tricks on you. Again you need to practice. It doesn't happen over night. It's weird. Talking to an inanimate object is like going to a restaurant by yourself. If feels off but if you do it again and again it becomes second nature.

      Thank you so much for your kind words! As for creating hydrostone vessels in your kitchen, it's great to hear you're planning to use a respirator and gloves-that's a solid start for safety. However, I would recommend setting up a separate, well-ventilated workspace if possible. While thorough cleaning helps, the dust from hydrostone can linger and pose risks to your family and pets. If you have no other option but to work in the kitchen, try to keep pets and family members out of the area during your work and cleaning processes. Hope that helps.

    Great video you are correct I’ve tried the sealant you use for cement on hydro stone it does not work at all so with that I bought the earth safe finish and it works amazingly also with jesmonite if anyone is starting on that journey. I use more jesmonite now even though it may cost more I found a distributor in Canada who has amazing prices. Also any information he is a great person to talk to I spent a half hour on the phone he gave me so much info. I love learning about different materials.

    Jai I'm so glade you posted this video. I'm just getting into concrete candle jar making and you along with several others have been a big inspiration to my decision to do this. All your hard work on the different parts of your channel are a big help. I'm even thinking of doing a you tube channel on your advice in your post before this one. Now I'm over 60 but as my grandfather told me growing up. You never to old to learn. Again thank you for all your help and advice.

      There is a UA-camr who does silicone molds. He has to have started in his 70s. His channel is doing very well. Also, there is a lady cook who is also a senior and her channel is doing quite well. Honestly it has to be treated as a business. Have fun with it and see where it goes. Your grandfather was right you are never too old to learn.

      Mary Rose stated that she has tried dozens of times to have them do something and she isn't getting a response. Is it possible she gets her channel back one day? Maybe but when a channel goes offline for an extended period of time the traffic drops off significantly. I would bet that she would most likely keep her current channel growing over her old one for that reason.

    I wouldn't be shocked if it was all AI. Should drop their email into an AI text detector, but I still wouldn't doubt it's all a bot and they just wait for more people to enter their C&C servers. I also doubt she just clicked a link and it happen. Just like they wanted you to download, and use the password(to get past AV scanners), then run the file is where they get all your goodies.

    being in sales and having to take all this training on emails that are scams. there are ways to know if it’s a scam your first email there was no signature line with the company information if it was a legit company, they would’ve had their name and address or some kind of information in their signature line that had to be connected to the company when you look at the email address that it came from, you could tell at the very end it had nothing to do with the company i’m surprised you even answered back to the scammers the way these scammers work is not just one person anymore. It’s usually a group of people

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle 9 днів тому

      First I want to thank you for your comment. With that said, your interpretation of what is a "legit" company is based off of what you do in a corporate setting. For the most part most of the sponsors who come my way are neither overly professional in their email presentation nor scammers. Sometimes I get sponsors who email me from their normal email address forgetting that they should be more presentable. With that said, where I made a mistake was not realizing that Evian is a much bigger company than most of these smaller ones and so your theory should hold up a bit more. Now why did I respond? I'm not quite 100% sure. However, even though I am super happy I didn't click any links, I am glad I responded. Like Mary Rose, making this video has helped so many people that it was well worth it.

    There's a very very good reason why hydrocal is so similar to cement all... It literally has portland cement in it, up to like 15-20% depending on the manufacturer. You just don't have to deal with all the coarse aggregate.
