Hi, just wondering what sealer you use? Am in Aus too and it's so tough to get the hydrodip here so I've been trying a bunch of things from bunnings - none are great.
Hi there, wonderful video, thank you! I haven't been able to find a link to the silicone bowl you're mixing and pouring from. Do you mind sharing a link? Thanks so much.
I love watching your videos so informative thank you so much for taking the time to make them . I’m starting back making candles after a 10 year gap . I’m in U.K. and can’t find the hydro stone so I think I’ll start with cement ❤❤
Just got some delivered today and your video is the first one I went back to. I am super excited to begin making these to give as gifts for the upcoming holidays!
Thank you for the tutorial. Wonderful as usual. I love not only how white and smooth it was but also how much easier it looks like to clean up! I have heard some concerns about stability at higher temperatures so I’ll be curious to see what you find in your testing. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I've been reading up on that during my research. It seems it does not like extremely cold or hot temperatures, so we'll have to see.
The finding the right sealer for it is difficult where I tested it with the sealer you dipped with cement all does not work very well with hydro stone aka gypsum. I tested it the other day with boiling water in the vessel it leaks through where the cement all does not.
@@CGKreations Yes, with the regular quick dip sealer you would need a few more coats than you would with cement-all since the hydrostone is more porous. The hydro dip has been formulated differently and will work better with the hydrostone.
Wow I have never done it that way, I’m going to try it that way and see if it helps the bubbles on mine I normally get, yours didn’t hardly have any on it! Thank you for sharing!
Great question. I’m not sure yet, as I just poured this yesterday. I’ll be weighing it each day to see when the weight levels off. In Jai’s video, I’m pretty sure he said 2 days cure time but that is all weather dependent.
After months of bad bags of cement all I’ve finally decided to go with Hydro-stone! I was reading the doom the website and it say to put them in the oven for final cure 🧐 is that what you did?
That looks awesome. I am into resin and there is a new product that looks similar to that called Resincrete by J Diction it might be cheaper ordering for you. Oh and what is the vibrating machine called so I can look for one. I think that would help with my deep pours bubbles.
@@calafiacandleco I’m in Northern California. You said you bought this in Canada? So not easy then to buy at Home Depot or Lowes? Was it expensive to get from Canada?
It's so cool to see. TBH, I could see myself using this as vessels only, like for a pop of my mixed-pigment vessels. But wow so fun. I don't need to buy anything else I'm trying to do wooden wicks and now I want this - so fun to stay creative in this realm. Love the video :)
I have been seeing your wooden wick updates on fb! I just started testing the ultimate wicks. Can’t wait to see how they do. It’s so hard to stay focused and work on one thing at a time sometimes 😂. I want to try all the new stuff!
Dude....wooden wicks is testing me. I love how pretty and easy they are to put in our vessels, but I'm stressing lolol. It's making me appreciate Cotton Wicks so much more. I won't give up, but you best believe I will use these for a limited time. I can't wait to see yours - your work is so lovely 😃 @@calafiacandleco
And can you just seal the inside off it are does the hole vessel have to be dipped and have you tried that Jesmonite I seen a lot off people using it also
Just wondering if you can mix cement all and hydrostone to make a black marble look? (Cement All -black pigment added) (hydrostone- leave as is). I would assume it's easier(use less pigment) to make black with cement all than to hyrdostone.
Thank you so much! I love all your videos! My only issue is I am in Canada and can not get earth safe here. Do you recommend and other sealer for Hydrostone?
wow that stuff looks awesome.. thanks for sharing.. have you added colors, used the sealer, and lit a candle yet.. ? curious if anything needed to change with the wax or wick ? I've also had some real bad batches of Cement All its almost as if it's gotten damp and it's not soft but harder to scoop and get fully mixed.. I really did a number on my hands already had carpel tunnel but finally had surgery and healing up nicely..😊. I've also been making these for a couple years selling at a flea market buy lately I've had customers complain the jars are cracking after being burnt down some.. which has never happened before I think its the cement all I'm getting.. ohh I was wondering.. have you ever tried to sell or get rid of molds you no longer use? I'm contemplating getting rid of the ones I don't use anymore.. ive got soooo many now from various places.
I haven’t done anything more with the hydrostone vessel I made 😬. I’ve been crazy busy with other projects and it kind of fell off the priority list haha! When I transitioned to my logo molds, I did sell the previous molds I was using. They still had some life in them. I have in the past had to rid of molds that were just really worn down and shrunk quite a bit.
Thank you so much for this! I’m not sure if this question has been asked, but do you have a standard method when it comes to calculations of the mixture with hydra stone and Simental?
Sorry for the late reply here! I linked Jai's video in the description that shows how to calculate how much you need of each ingredient. I highly recommend checking it out! He explains it very clearly.
Oh okay interesting! I have the machine linked on my amazon storefront, which you can find in the description box. I believe it's under the concrete jar supplies category.
Hi Bree, thank you for the great video. I’m just starting out making vessels, and the hydrostone was exciting to see work. I am wanting to purchase the sealer you showed here, and was wondering if there is a discount code I can use for November. I have been dealing with Covid for 2 weeks, and this is the first day I’ve felt well enough to watch. I’m LOVING the idea of making my own candles. Thanks again. Blessings!
I have 2 50 lb bags and I was ready to tossed it. Is Hydrostone waterproof, like to make outdoor planters. I started to make hyperlopha planters. Has anyone ever tried to do planters , but outdoor too.

Hi there! Thanks so much for watching! I am not too keen on other formulas. I would suggest checking out UpVibe here on UA-cam. Jai has a lot of great videos showcasing other formulas to achieve a concrete jar and definitely has more expertise in that category. I'm not sure about adding anything to make them cure faster...again I suggest checking out his videos. He might have a solution to that.
I went to the euclids website and there's only a small bag available for Hydrocal, not Hydrostone. Do you know if these are the same? Not ready to buy a 50 lb bag yet haha.
No, hydrocal is different. I saw the 50lbs as the only option when I was looking on their site. You could try looking around elsewhere to see if you can find a smaller bag.
I’ve only tried making cement-all candle vessels once and they seem like they looked good but a couple of days later, they cracked. What would be the cause of that?
It could be a couple different reasons. There could have been too much water in the mixture, or they could have dried too quickly. Making these is very weather dependent.
Question, I’ve bought concrete vessels from companies, and when I made the candles, the wax or any kind a saw it gets stuck all over the candle vessel, and doesn’t come off. Is this common?
If any part of the vessel is not sealed, the wax and fragrance oil will stain it. The inside of the vessel at least should be sealed, and therefore it should be easy to wipe off.
I’m new to your channel so my apologies if you have addressed this question but why do you have to seal the inside of the candle? What would happen if you did not and skipped this part and just poured the wax? Thank you for your AMAZING videos and all the tips tricks and advice!!! Appreciate you so much thanks 😊
No worries! Concrete is very porous (hydrostone even more so), and if left unsealed, the wax and fragrance oil will seep through the vessel. So sealing prevents that from happening and keeps everything in the vessel. Thanks for watching!

Hi! I show the formula around the 5:50 mark. First you need to figure out how much water your mold holds in grams. Once you have that, you can plug that number into the formula. I also have Jai’s video linked in the description. He goes into more detail about the formula needed to figure out how much of each ingredient you need. Flow control is an additive you can add to cement-all if it’s being difficult to work with. It increases the fluidity of the mixture without compromising the strength.
