      The finding the right sealer for it is difficult where I tested it with the sealer you dipped with cement all does not work very well with hydro stone aka gypsum. I tested it the other day with boiling water in the vessel it leaks through where the cement all does not.

    • @calafiacandleco
      @calafiacandleco  10 місяців тому

      @@CGKreations Yes, with the regular quick dip sealer you would need a few more coats than you would with cement-all since the hydrostone is more porous. The hydro dip has been formulated differently and will work better with the hydrostone.

    • @calafiacandleco

    • @calafiacandleco

      Hi! I show the formula around the 5:50 mark. First you need to figure out how much water your mold holds in grams. Once you have that, you can plug that number into the formula. I also have Jai’s video linked in the description. He goes into more detail about the formula needed to figure out how much of each ingredient you need. Flow control is an additive you can add to cement-all if it’s being difficult to work with. It increases the fluidity of the mixture without compromising the strength.

      After months of bad bags of cement all I’ve finally decided to go with Hydro-stone! I was reading the doom the website and it say to put them in the oven for final cure 🧐 is that what you did?

    Pour your water into the hydro stone, it's easier~ I love my hydrostone~ Plus you can color it SO easily~ it is a bit more expensive~ but.....It will get even whiter Honestly~ I'd wait till it cooled to unmold~ Only cause I broke one unmolding to quickly~ thanks for the tip on the earth seal. Mine are actually weeping~ So I'll dip a second time~ then I'll switch but sure wish I'd known about it earlier~ I bought a gallon~ will last FOREVER~ LOL

      Oh interesting. Everything I’ve read says to add it to the water and let it get that dry lake bed look. I found it to be quite easy to mix up. Way easier than cement-all. I’ve been reading that hydrostone is very temperature sensitive and can crack in extremely cold or hot temperatures. Have you experienced any of that?

      @@calafiacandleco I tried the hydro stone to the water and that might work better! I've heard that about the breaking but haven't experienced it yet. But I'm in Ga. Pretty good weather. Also, I do wait for it to cool completely before unmolding ! They do seem a bit harder to seal.

    Thanks so much for your wonderful videos! Just wondering what can you use to colour the hydrostone?

      You can use any pigments you’d normally use with concrete. Thanks for watching!
