Both Klitchko brothers are seriously intellectual guys- certainly more than many fighters, and their academic achievements as well as others are well documented. My theory with Wlad is that once he got hurt for real in the ring, (ie) hurt in the head, he really began to contemplate the possible brain damage which could occur in the ring, and made the conscious decision to completely change his style (something most boxers simply can not accomplish for whatever reason), and developed his highly cautious, ultra defensive, sometimes unwatchable, yet extremely effective style which involved excessive holding with very limited punching- most likely via hundreds, if not thousands of rounds of sparring. Many of his title defences were like watching CSPAN, including his loss to Fury, but his final fight against AJ where he let his nuts hang regained my respect 100%.

In what way? Vitali had a better chin. That’s about it. Wlad hit harder, and was far more skilled overall. Vitali was a brawler with a decent engine (for his size) and a granite chin. Look what Chris Byrd did to Vitali.
@@LobotomyMeatyou're absolutely 100% wrong. Yes Vitali had a better chin, but he was anything but a brawler. He was much more of a skilled and well rounded fighter compared to Wlad. Wlad was just more athletic and less robotic. He could only fight one way, moving straight forward and walking down his opponent. When that didn't work, he would lose. Vitali could lead, box and counter with the best of him. Just watch the Lewis fight and how he constantly made Lewis miss and immediately counter. No one had ever done that to Lewis. Look how badly Wlad struggled with the brawler Peter, so much so he never rematched him even when Peter was the heavyweight champ. Vitali fought him after a 4.5 year layoff and absolutely pummeled Peter. Something Wlad couldn't do until several years later after Peter was completely shot.
Vitali was never behind on points after the 2nd round. He retired due to injury against Byrd and Lewis. Vitali was only beaten by injuries. He was never on the canvas during His whole career either. He was leading Byrd and Lewis before the injuries.@@LobotomyMeat
Vitali's potential was better. But Wlad's record (actual) was better. Although it was ultimately injuries, I wonder if Vitali temporarily stepping away was to open the door for a possible undisputed path for his little bro, Wlad. I think Vitali's ambition might have been a little compromised knowing the ultimate goal could never be a possibility if they were both active at the same time.
@@calvinmay35 obviously Wlad had the longer reign, but Vitali definitely faced the better opposition. Wlad would tend to go after the weaker parts of the division. Lewis tops anyone Wlad ever faced, but remember he didn't want to rematch Sanders, Vitali did and destroyed him. He also had the chance to rematch Peter but didn't, even when Peter had the other title Wlad was missing, the WBC. Vitali after a 4.5 year layoff ended up facing him without a tuneup and still destroyed him. Wlad had the opportunity to face Chisora and pulled out. Vitali ended up facing and dominating him. Then dont forget Wlad wanted nothing to do with the undefeated challenger Arreola. Vitali never screwed around with facing bums and no hopers

What a destructive and fast puncher. Even after watching Tyson, Foreman, Liston he still amazes one. He deserves the number 1 spot having held the Belts the longest time. You can't do better than what he does.
I don't think Klitschko gets enough credit for his change of style. He identified his weaknesses and worked hard to correct them while becoming more successful. It's no different to an F1 team having a super fast car that is unreliable and tweaking it to take a tiny bit of top speed off to improve reliability in the engine. It still wins the races.
This bout reminds me of the epic (some say the 2nd fight of the century, only behind Frazier Ali 1) bout when Homer "Jay" Simpson, underdog and hungry contender for the belt took on Drederick Tatum. Mercers' complete lack of tactics in conjunction with his intrepid, near exact copy of the 'just stand there, don't move and block every punch with my face' defensive technique the "Jay" employed brings back vivid memories of that classic battle when those 2 fine gladiators met in the arena.
There is a German boxer, Axel Schulz who fought Wladimir Klitschko as well as George Foreman. He recently stated that when he got into the ring and got punched by Wladimir, that it felt more powerful than anything he has ever felt before. A lose translation would be "Getting a left from Wladimir was like being punched by Foreman's right". Yes, he fought an old George Foreman, but nevertheless that just shows how much power Wladimir had in his punches.

Young Mercer beats him.
No chance. Too slow even at His peak.
Naaahhh!!
How do you tell after an ass whuppin like that?
@@jimbyrne2328yes chance, 💯 stops him.
Don't be silly.. Mercer is average.
BLTV always with the best boxing content!
Wlad was good but VITALI WAS BETTER
Two class individuals and great fighters.
Thank you for paying true homage and respect to the fighters. I never got to see a prime Klitschko fight and I couldn't even tell you who Mercer was.
You do a great justice to the sport of boxing. Thank you BLTV never quit being the 🐐
Are you new to boxing?
from dr. steelhammer to captain clinch
Jeeze that ref sure did Tommy Morrison wrong. Seeing him caught in the ropes getting lit up like that is just sad.
Like it or not, Wlad is the most powerful puncher in heavyweight history. No one has ever come close to his athleticism.
Bruh, I kept trying to figure out where the Lord of the Rings music was coming from, had to rewind the video to confirm that this was the video that was playing it 😂
The Morrison fight was awful, where was ref ??
Worst job of not jumping in and stopping it that I have seen since jerry Cooney knocked out Ken Norton
@holidayeveryday550 100% agree, and the fact both Mercer and Cooney Carried on laying Heavy Head punches to opponents totally out of it, is Disgraceful
@@kevinmunday6263 cooney got his karma when foreman destroyed him
Ref had the best seat in the house and was enjoying the beating of a lifetime.
Though luck for Tommy.
Duke of the boxing match. It is the performance for both parties. Not the defeat.
To do this against a prime Ray Mercer shows how special and brilliant Wladimir had become before his prime years even came.
Prime? He was nearly 40.
He was 41, and he had alot of wars, which ages you in boxing.
109-7-with 94 kayos........ KLITSCHKO BROTHERS ALL BUT UNSTOPPABLEEEEEEEEEEEE
Classic Boxing Legends TV video. What an absolute masterpiece, good to have the best fighting channel uploading regularly.
I told Mercer, you can't keep taking all these punches. You think he listened? Hell no. Lucky we had Newman in there to call it a day.
Brilliant seeing Mercer take that punishment. He tried to kill Morrison and is still proud of it. What goes around...
Lol tried to kill him. It's prefessional boxing, the stakes are high, you can't let up or you can lose.
Lampley was a magnificent fight caller. He captured moments with precision and emotion. He gave ample time for specialized commentary. Not allot of off topic babble on the mic.
A prime wlad would have destroyed AJ.
They were both 41, when losing.
What a destructive and fast puncher. Even after watching Tyson, Foreman, Liston he still amazes one. He deserves
the number 1 spot having held the Belts the longest time.
You can't do better than what he does.
"Klitschkos fighting a very good fight... and Mercer too!" . Mercer was a punching bag the whole fight.
Love to see him to this to a prime Mercer. No way pal.
Dream on
Wlad's straight right is bloody crazy! He doesn't swing it at all, but it's just a straight-up battering-ram!
Defensive frailties...got to love it
Wladimir has one of the most devastating jabs I've ever seen. Just like hammer🔨
He just unlocked Mercers guard by punching through like a steamhammer.
Yeh vitali was the super tough fighter of the two brothers
Klitschko was great ! Truly underrated
Shoulda trained like never B4.. that punch at the bell was like a mindbender for me watching. Imagine what it was like for Mercer
"I knocked him out, woke him up and knocked him out a few times"!! 😂😂
His chin was his downfall, ironically.
BLTV is the undisputed goat of boxing analysis videos
There is a German boxer, Axel Schulz who fought Wladimir Klitschko as well as George Foreman.
He recently stated that when he got into the ring and got punched by Wladimir, that it felt more powerful than anything he has ever felt before.
A lose translation would be "Getting a left from Wladimir was like being punched by Foreman's right".
Yes, he fought an old George Foreman, but nevertheless that just shows how much power Wladimir had in his punches.
The ending was just funny as hell 😂😂🤣🤣
Had to stop the video for a sec cuz I thought my neighbor is watching Lord Of The Rings...
Lets go champ haaahaaa, can't you swim champ haahaa. The most ruthless words ever spoken in boxing
Love how you snuck in LotRs music at the end 😂
Vlad was so much bigger and was delivering those jack hammer Punches. Had Mercer lookin like Beetlejuice
Кто бы что то не говорил о Кличко, это хорошие техничные панчеры.
Loving this content.
That is for what Mercer did to Tommy Morrison lol.
Yes but the referee stopped the fight too early, I wanted Mercer to feel what Morrison felt.
