Agreed, and the guys who refused to answer the bell shouldn't feel any shame. How Brian Nielsen even answered the bell for the 4th round after that low blow is anybody's guess. Then he somehow made it through it, the fifth, and the sixth rounds before tapping out. As for Andrew Golota, I hope he fired his trainer, coach, and attendants that tried to force him to continue. It's not worth risking your career or life going back in for round 3 when you know you have no chance at all. Kudos to all the guys that fought on and went out on their own shield though.

You can see from this video how much Mike had changed. In his early fights, he'd beat them then angrily walk away in victory. The expression on his face was of anger and aggression. After prison, Mike appears more calm and at peace after his fights and even helping opponents up. During the fights he was still very violent, very aggressive but once it was over, the anger and aggression was turned off. Mike learned to control himself. He became more personable. Kudos to Mike and his growth. I admire his change. I admire Mike.

My grandfather rest his soul passed away a few years ago in his 90's he was in the Air Force and he was a boxer. They used to hold boxing matches on the ships to entertain everyone. Not exactly sure if it was ships it may have been on land since he was in the Air force. But I know for sure he told me a story about a boxing matches on ships. He absolutely loved boxing and all the intricate nuances. Watching him watch Mike Tyson fight and seeing the joy on his face is something I treasure. He adored Iron Mike he had video tapes of all his fights and always had to have me figure out the VCR for him. Thank you Mike for brining joy to my granfathers heart he was a very very very good man.

I am looking at this clip and I believe he always was enlightened but circumstances probably prevented him from exercising his wisdom. Notice how he is even quicker than the referee to help quite a few of his opponents up after their knock down and he literally openly hugs them the minute the fight is done? As brutal as his power as a fighter was, I don't see a brutal man; I see a fair soul with a powerful gift who did his job but seldom relished in it. #lookdeeper
What a legend, and also... After many of his fights he went to his opponent and helped to pick them up and give them a hug and respect. We don't talk about that enough. I believe he viewed his opponents in the purest sense but actually wished them no personal harm. Which is crazy considering how ferocious he was.

100%! The guy paid his dues and grew up to be a very responsible and loving man. He made terrible mistakes that don't define him today. Mike was one of the greatest ever. He was troubled, misunderstood, brutal, and unpredictable. He also was had one of the biggest hearts and after he received some help, he has become a loving family man and has helped many people with understanding mental health issues.

Certainly was. It makes you wonder what might have been had he stayed focused, kept Kevin Rooney as is trainer and the rest of Team Tyson, and continued to deploy the very successful Peek A Boo Style that Cus D'Amato had taught him. The fiasco with Buster Douglas most certainly would not have happened. The matches with Holyfied and Lewis would have been more interesting as well. Not sure if he would have won them but they definitely would have been closer. One of the most impressive aspects of Tyson's style in his youth was how well he moved to the side after slipping his opponent's punches and hitting them with body shots before finishing them off. The style completely disappeared once Rooney was dismissed as his trainer. He became a stationary boxer looking for that one knockout blow. Occasionally, you would see in small bursts. For example, the infamous 3rd round against Holyfield when he bit his ear, he went back to the peek a boo style and was beginning to get to Holyfield before he bit his ear.
I gotta say that after he knocked out his opponents he always showed great sportsmanship and a few times actually helped his opponents up off the mat. Much respect he is a GOAT

The fact that Tyson has gone from the greatest and most vicious fighter of all time to being such a kind and laid back person post fighting career, considering what he dealt with growing up, is nothing short of amazing.

I noticed that Mike Tyson was always displayed gentlemanly sportsmanship towards his opponents not only through helping many back to their feet after being knocked senseless but he always embraced them afterwards.

I followed all of Mikes fights, I am disabled with CP and always focused on Mikes footwork because my balance was very poor. I love this guy. The way he moved was mesmerizing to me . I would love to be able to sit down with him and talk to him.

I will never forget being a kid in the 90’s and getting together with uncles and cousins and watching every mike Tyson fight. The Holyfield, we watched in my living room, and I’ll never forget everyone’s reaction. I was so young but it’s still so vivid.
People talking about the brutal punch by Tyson but no one spoke nothing about how humble Tyson is. Even after the fight he helped his opponent and felt sorry for them, he never hit his opponent as they we're knocked down, he always lifted them up. Tyson is a gem of a person.
I'm 18 so I didn't get to witness his rise and fall through his career. But seeing this past and how he speaks and carries himself now is unbelievable and inspiring. To go from nothing and turn your life into everything.
My wife really doesn't like boxing at all, but when I've played some of Tyson's interviews, bios, etc she has said that he's a very humble guy and well spoken. I think what turned his career negative was Don King. Tyson was once asked if he learned anything from King, Tyson replied that he learned what not to do, he had nothing good to say about King. Not surprising as King was a money grubbing asshole.
I remember getting up at 4 a.m. in Germany to watch his fights. Had a beer and some chips. Usually I hadn't finished the beer before he finished the fight. His speed, strength and fitness are unmatched to date imo. If he hadn't had the personal problems he would have been the *undisputed* greatest of all times. To me he is.

Completely agree. In his prime, I believe Tyson was the greatest heavyweight there has ever been - he would have demolished Muhammad Ali (in his prime). I know critics say he had no jab, etc. but his style dispensed with jabs.

When Tyson’s speed is mentioned one thing not elucidated is how by blazing fast he could shift all body weight from left-to-right to set up those brutal punches. It was not all just upper body juice that allowed him to knock guys across the ring. The guy was a master at anchoring himself yet remaining mobile.
The truly crushing power came from his back and his legs. His thighs were enormous from all the movement and footwork training. When he was young, no one wanted to fight him. One of the hardest hitting heavyweights was also one of the heavyweights with the fastest punches and movement. I always thought that was unfair.

when i was in elementary school in indonesia, every time there was a mike tyson fight on tv. the streets were immediately empty, transportation stopped immediately, and everyone watched mike tyson's boxing event at home. it was amazing indeed.
One of the most misunderstood human beings of all time. I don't believe Mike was ever crazy. he just grew up extremely fast with many people trying to take advantage of him. The heavyweight championship as an 18 year old is a lot to take on. At that age I was just trying to figure out, how I could pass my math and science test so I could graduate high school. This man was trying to figure out how to spend millions at that age, and also being in the public eye. That can be very overwhelmed and a lot to bare. Love you Mike.
Crazy? Depends what you mean by crazy. Deals/delt with mental health issues, 100% positive he has and does deal with mental health issues. He grew up in the ghetto to a single mother. He didn't really have anything good going for him until he met up with Cus D'Amato at the age of 16. Then at a young age he becomes the meanest mother fucker on the planet and life picks up the pace faster then a younger person should be dealing with. He had to learning things at a faster rate then most people it not a surprise he fucked up. I'm not saying he didn't fuck up and hes perfect but I think there's a lot more there to consider. I’ve always appreciated that he helped his opponents get up. You could often see him mouth “good fight”, “nice job” or “I’m sorry” , etc. to me while he may be an animal in the ring but he’s especially respectful & I believe has a true soft side

That walk out by Andrew Golota was the best thing for him. At the hospital, it was discovered that Golota suffered a concussion, a fractured left cheekbone and a broken neck disc during the fight. Golota left boxing for almost three years after that fight before returning. Imagine the power it takes to cause that much damage.

I was surprised to see how empathetic he was after a lot of his KO’s. He was humble in many of these victories and would go to help the opponent stand up. I’m sure this wasn’t common for Tyson and maybe just in these clips but I was pleased to see it
Mike Tyson is one of the best boxers I have ever seen. His style was amazing. His speed and power were unmatched. In my book he had the best defensive movements with the peekaboo style. At his age now there are not many boxers that can keep up with him. The man is superb. Hats off to Mike Tyson. I wish I could turn back the clock and see one of his fights in person
Well said Kyron Rogers. Back in the days, detractors used to say that Iron Mike was a "brawler". How wrong were they. They were unfamiliar with the style that Cus D'Amato taught this great boxer. His style was quick inside angle blows while stepping off the side of his opponent. The blows were thrown with such awesome power that hadn't been seen. True, Iron Mike relied less on his movements as he went further on his career. His hard-core head hunting prowess began to dominate as his method of knocking his opponents out. He was a fantastic boxer.
This guy is much different than a who I thought he was. It's aging ti see how much he has grow mentally. But even more it awesome to see the heart he has. The wisdom he spreads. The love and compassion he displays while standing up for his greatest mentors. Mic is an amazing dude indeed!

Growing up, anytime Tyson's name was heard on T.V or Radio, they just talked about the negativity of this man. Looking at his fights, you can see the brilliance, beauty and respect for fighting. I don't think that is ever talked about enough. I'm glad he's turned his life around and shown everyone how smart, sensitive and passionate he is about the sport.

I honestly believe, when Mike Tyson was in his prime he was the best boxer in history and no single man could have survived his onslaught. He was unbelievably aggressive from the jump and it only took 1 punch from him to end the fight. He created angles and with every sidestep he loaded all of that momentum into another colossal blow, not to mention his head movement was incredibly underrated. The most unstoppable boxer of all time. Period.
And what about Max Baer??? He killed 3 or 4 boxers in the ring. He was Buddy Baer's dad , you know, Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies, look how big he was.
Mike's footwork is impeccable, and so damn fast. A sideways step and a massive haymaker suddenly flies at you from a completely different angle with perfect accuracy and power. Its such a joy to watch. Every punch Mike throws, even the weaker ones, are enough to turn your brain to jam.

Mike Tyson's knockouts were legendary! His power and ferocity in the ring were unmatched. This video is a great tribute to his incredible skill and dominance. Iron Mike will always be remembered as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.
Mike's power shots all started from his feet. He drove his plant foot into the canvas and much like a golf swing used a chain of body parts firing in order to deliver maximum speed (force) at the point of impact. He was a marvel to watch.

I don't know that heavyweight boxing will ever witness a fighter like Mike Tyson again. His hands were faster than anyone else, and his power couldn't be matched. I was sorry to see the struggles he had towards the end of his career, and the people who took advantage of him. Truly thought he deserved better than to be a punchline in the minds of people.
I remember watching his fights as a kid with my parents and grandparents. They loved every minute Mike was fighting. He was seriously a different breed of fighter.
As a kid of the 80’s and 90’s I can say we missed out on just how awesome this man could have been because of his prison stint. It was an awesome time to have grown up.

Sent guys like my dad home in a rage after kicking in for those exorbitant pay per view fees 🤣. All those mfs would pour themselves a huge glass of straight liquor like they gonna be there all night 🥳, then I would hear an uproar followed by a collective groan. A couple minutes later my dad would appear in the room where all us kids were being held with alarmingly little supervision. He'd gave my jacket in one hand and that that drink, 99% still there, in the other. Again and again. It never failed.
I never fought professionally, but I did a lot of fighting growing up. "Iron" Mike Tyson was an inspiration to me. He continues to inspire me as I see how much he's grown as a person over the years. Mike Tyson is the best fighter of my lifetime.
He was an unmatched phenomenon. I used to love watching him. It’s terrible the rest of his life was a train wreck. Glad he seems to have overcome all the wreckage.

He'd have to end it quick, though , otherwise Tyson't relentless punishing blows would send Ali to the mat, no doubt. Yes, it would be a spectacular fight to see. I got Ali's autograph some 35+ yrs ago when he exited the Jockey Club in NYC.

You can see from this video how much Mike had changed. In his early fights, he'd beat them then angrily walk away in victory. The expression on his face was of anger and aggression. After prison, Mike appears more calm and at peace after his fights and even helping opponents up. During the fights he was still very violent, very aggressive but once it was over, the anger and aggression was turned off. Mike learned to control himself. He became more personable. Kudos to Mike and his growth. I admire his change. I admire Mike.

My grandfather rest his soul passed away a few years ago in his 90's he was in the Air Force and he was a boxer. They used to hold boxing matches on the ships to entertain everyone. Not exactly sure if it was ships it may have been on land since he was in the Air force. But I know for sure he told me a story about a boxing matches on ships. He absolutely loved boxing and all the intricate nuances. Watching him watch Mike Tyson fight and seeing the joy on his face is something I treasure. He adored Iron Mike he had video tapes of all his fights and always had to have me figure out the VCR for him. Thank you Mike for brining joy to my granfathers heart he was a very very very good man.

I am looking at this clip and I believe he always was enlightened but circumstances probably prevented him from exercising his wisdom. Notice how he is even quicker than the referee to help quite a few of his opponents up after their knock down and he literally openly hugs them the minute the fight is done? As brutal as his power as a fighter was, I don't see a brutal man; I see a fair soul with a powerful gift who did his job but seldom relished in it. #lookdeeper

What a legend, and also... After many of his fights he went to his opponent and helped to pick them up and give them a hug and respect. We don't talk about that enough. Mike was one of the greatest ever. He was troubled, misunderstood, brutal, and unpredictable. He also was had one of the biggest hearts and after he received some help, he has become a loving family man and has helped many people with understanding mental health issues.

It makes you wonder what might have been had he stayed focused, kept Kevin Rooney as is trainer and the rest of Team Tyson, and continued to deploy the very successful Peek A Boo Style that Cus D'Amato had taught him. The fiasco with Buster Douglas most certainly would not have happened. The matches with Holyfied and Lewis would have been more interesting as well. Not sure if he would have won them but they definitely would have been closer. One of the most impressive aspects of Tyson's style in his youth was how well he moved to the side after slipping his opponent's punches and hitting them with body shots before finishing them off. The style completely disappeared once Rooney was dismissed as his trainer. He became a stationary boxer looking for that one knockout blow. Occasionally, you would see in small bursts. For example, the infamous 3rd round against Holyfield when he bit his ear, he went back to the peek a boo style and was beginning to get to Holyfield before he bit his ear.

My wife really doesn't like boxing at all, but when I've played some of Tyson's interviews, bios, etc she has said that he's a very humble guy and well spoken. I think what turned his career negative was Don King. Tyson was once asked if he learned anything from King, Tyson replied that he learned what not to do, he had nothing good to say about King. I remember getting up at 4 a.m. in Germany to watch his fights. Had a beer and some chips. Usually I hadn't finished the beer before he finished the fight. His speed, strength and fitness are unmatched to date imo. If he hadn't had the personal problems he would have been the *undisputed* greatest of all times. To me he is.

When Tyson’s speed is mentioned one thing not elucidated is how by blazing fast he could shift all body weight from left-to-right to set up those brutal punches. It was not all just upper body juice that allowed him to knock guys across the ring. The guy was a master at anchoring himself yet remaining mobile.

The truly crushing power came from his back and his legs. His thighs were enormous from all the movement and footwork training. When he was young, no one wanted to fight him. One of the hardest hitting heavyweights was also one of the heavyweights with the fastest punches and movement. I always thought that was unfair.

when i was in elementary school in indonesia, every time there was a mike tyson fight on tv. the streets were immediately empty, transportation stopped immediately, and everyone watched mike tyson's boxing event at home. it was amazing indeed.
One of the most misunderstood human beings of all time. I don't believe Mike was ever crazy. he just grew up extremely fast with many people trying to take advantage of him. The heavyweight championship as an 18 year old is a lot to take on. At that age I was just trying to figure out, how I could pass my math and science test so I could graduate high school. This man was trying to figure out how to spend millions at that age, and also being in the public eye. That can be very overwhelmed and a lot to bare. Love you Mike.

Crazy? Depends what you mean by crazy. Deals/delt with mental health issues, 100% positive he has and does deal with mental health issues. He grew up in the ghetto to a single mother. He didn't really have anything good going for him until he met up with Cus D'Amato at the age of 16. Then at a young age he becomes the meanest mother fucker on the planet and life picks up the pace faster then a younger person should be dealing with. He had to learning things at a faster rate then most people it not a surprise he fucked up. I'm not saying he didn't fuck up and hes perfect but I think there's a lot more there to consider. Honestly I think we are seeing him grow more mentally in his later years then most people due to his life. Anyways this is way longer then it should be.

I’ve always appreciated that he helped his opponents get up. You could often see him mouth “good fight”, “nice job” or “I’m sorry” , etc. to me while he may be an animal in the ring but he’s especially respectful & I believe has a true soft side

That walk out by Andrew Golota was the best thing for him. At the hospital, it was discovered that Golota suffered a concussion, a fractured left cheekbone and a broken neck disc during the fight. Golota left boxing for almost three years after that fight before returning. Imagine the power it takes to cause that much damage.

I was surprised to see how empathetic he was after a lot of his KO’s. He was humble in many of these victories and would go to help the opponent stand up. I’m sure this wasn’t common for Tyson and maybe just in these clips but I was pleased to see it

His style was quick inside angle blows while stepping off the side of his opponent. The blows were thrown with such awesome power that hadn't been seen. True, Iron Mike relied less on his movements as he went further on his career. His hard-core head hunting prowess began to dominate as his method of knocking his opponents out. He was a fantastic boxer.

Growing up, anytime Tyson's name was heard on T.V or Radio, they just talked about the negativity of this man. Looking at his fights, you can see the brilliance, beauty and respect for fighting. I don't think that is ever talked about enough. I'm glad he's turned his life around and shown everyone how smart, sensitive and passionate he is about the sport.

I honestly believe, when Mike Tyson was in his prime he was the best boxer in history and no single man could have survived his onslaught. He was unbelievably aggressive from the jump and it only took 1 punch from him to end the fight. He created angles and with every sidestep he loaded all of that momentum into another colossal blow, not to mention his head movement was incredibly underrated.

Mike's power shots all started from his feet. He drove his plant foot into the canvas and much like a golf swing used a chain of body parts firing in order to deliver maximum speed (force) at the point of impact. He was a marvel to watch.

I don't know that heavyweight boxing will ever witness a fighter like Mike Tyson again. His hands were faster than anyone else, and his power couldn't be matched. I was sorry to see the struggles he had towards the end of his career, and the people who took advantage of him. Truly thought he deserved better than to be a punchline in the minds of people.

A couple minutes later my dad would appear in the room where all us kids were being held with alarmingly little supervision. He'd gave my jacket in one hand and that that drink, 99% still there, in the other.
