I assigned the DBeam to the "aftertouch" : its great with all those Supernatural Synth sounds that react beautifully to any little movements of your fingers. just use 2 or three fingers instead of all the palm and play it as you would with a flame : it's very fun !
Hi Stephen, can we use d-beam like the Theremin? Thanks for the video. I learned something ;) I also have JDXA, i am a beginner player in weekends, what do you recommend to me ?
to do this you have to use the MIDI CC (continuous controller)..... you press the "Assignable" button for D-Beam and set unused CC number ...... then you go and edit the specific TONE that you want to control and assign that CC number to whatever expression parameter you like using the Modulation Matrix (Matrix Control or MFX control)..... if you cant get it done I could make a video to show you
Yes absolutely... that's the whole idea... the way you do this is to set the D-Beam to send CC MIDI messages and then configure the tone on the current MIDI channel to respond to those CC messages ..... but in any case, the CC messages sent from the D-Beam will record into the sequencer on the active channel (unless you explicitly turn them off because default ALL MIDI message are recorded by the sequencer).... do you need a video to show you how ? 😊
@@StephenMendes Also, I have one more question....but this isn't D-Beam related. I've worked with this keyboard for 2 years now and I've figured out a lot about it BUT I have never figured out, when recording into the sequencer, how to key in a measure/bar number instead of DIAL my way to the measure. Dialing to measure 152 takes so much time everytime! Ha. How do I key in the measure number?? Thank you!
@@kristeenyoungmusic the PADS can be configured to work as numeric entry ...... I believe you MIGHT be able to enter measure/bar numerically using the PADS ... but I will have to try it and confirm .... IF I can get it to work this would be yet ANOTHER video I could make 😊..... thanks for the idea ..... lot of great ideas come from my viewers ... please subscribe (if you have not already subscribed) as clearly I have a LOT more videos to make for this keyboard and you wont want to miss a thing.
@@StephenMendes Ok. Yes, I subscribed. I do use the pads numerically for everything else (ie. volume, etc) but just have never figured it out concerning measures! So rudimentary I know.
You can assign MIDI CC number to the D-Beam controller..... and the messages would be on the ACTIVE CHANNEL.... find the "part" that is active ....... go to MENU..... PART VIEW.... select the MASTER KBD tab ..... find and turn on the D-beam switch .... and you shouyld be operational 😊
you can use the "assignable" button to assign to a wide range of modulation options (hold down the shift button and press "assignable") ......... if you want CUSTOM modulations then simply rotate the dial to select a CC number that's free ..... and go in your "tone edit" and use the Matrix to map that CC number to whatever other parameters you want to control... this video shows how to set Matrix parameters to CC numbers ua-cam.com/video/ByZvVQN8dvs/v-deo.html

You can trigger (play) the pad samples from the D-Beam controller.... but I do not understand what you mean by "play a pad sample in each of the tones".... tones are one thing .... and pad samples are something else.... but they are independent of each other.... so you should be able to play any pad samples along with any tones.
@@audiotrack456 the samples are saved with the SONGS..... you can have a different set of samples with each SONG ..... but the samples are NOT saved with Studio Set..... hope this helps you ?

thanks for this 👍
Wow thanks a lot Stephen! Very useful stuff to know about the FA08 that I didn't see in any other demo video before!
Thank you for the video ! :) I can't seem to assign the solo synth to the sub output, is it possible ?
NO .... there is no way to do that
Great supportive videos (not just this one)! Brought me to the idea of triggering an "on demand" delay via the D-Beam for my reggae bubble piano...
Glad I could help! .... thanks for letting me know
Hi Stephen, can we use d-beam like the Theremin? Thanks for the video. I learned something ;) I also have JDXA, i am a beginner player in weekends, what do you recommend to me ?
Yes D-Beam behaves like a Theremin.... if you already have JDXA why are you wanting to buy another keyboard ? ..... JDXA is an excellent instrument
Hi Stephen can I configure D beam as expression on only one side of dual tones

@@StephenMendes Thanks Stephen really helpful as usual I'm not sure what I'm doing but I'll give it a try
Is it possible to record the D-Beam manipulation into a song in the FA? I can't find that info anywhere in the manual or demo video. Thank you.
